File read in Mediator / OSB

I have a requirement where a BPEL process calls an ESB (could be implemented using either mediator or OSB). The ESB should then pick a set of files from a directory in the local file system and FTP them to several locations.
From the file adapters available in (both the) ESBs, we HAVE to configure the polling interval. So, the file adapter is actually a one-time configuration which runs until the server ends. That is not the requirement. Is there a way to make a synchronous call from BPEL to the ESB file adapter, and then the file adapter picks those files and FTPs to the said locations and returns control to the ESB and hence the BPEL?

I'm not a expert in ESB so cannot comment on that product.
OSB in itself cannot accomplish this use case "OSB should pick a set of files from a directory in the local file system and FTP them to several locations only on trigger/request (different from polling)".
We had similar discussion earlier Re: Using SFTP proxy service without polling interval, how to do it?
I'm not sure about your architecture criteria that mandates this separation of logic implementation in BPEL and OSB.
At best, solution with OSB is like
1) BPEL--->(OSB)Proxy Service1---> Enable FTP Proxy and wait for pre-configured time(Java Callout in Proxy Service1) ---->Read the files and ftp to various locations in FTP proxy---->Disable SFTP Proxy(Java Callout in Proxy Service1)--->Return response to BPEL.
2) BPEL puts file in directory--->OSB picks and posts to FTP (polling is involved)

We are using clustered environment (4 managed servers) in Unix. In a OSB 11gR3 proxy service we are using Synchronous File Read. Randomly we are getting the below error. Let us know what could cause the issue. But the same code is working fine in a single stand-alone server configuration.

I face the same issue and I have given all permissions to the folder for OS user.
Because of this error my server is not starting up . Is there any way I can undeploy this composite to get my server running.
I cant do this from EM because SOA server is failing to start up.
I have tried removing it from $DOMAIN_HOME/deployed-composites but still when i try restarting the soa server the composite comes up there. Do we need to delete the entry some where else too. Kindly help.

Invoking Composite from BPMN with file read operation

hello,
I have a composite which does a simple file read and dumps data to database using mediator.
right now composite gets kicked off by presence of a file in a directory.
I would like to invoke this composite from a BPMN process, unfortunately because of nature of file adapter created through composite, jdeveloper doesn't expose the FileAdapter read operation as WSDL so I cannot create a service task out of it.
How can I invoke composite directly without having to create a file adapter at the BPMN level and take care of transforming the records to DB adapter?

As you guess, it is stored in the PSD, but only with the Maximise Compatibility switch. Without that switch, a dummy image is stored which has the text "This layered Photoshop file was not saved with a composite image.", in English, German, Japanese and French.
My program
psdparse extracts each layer in an 8-bit file as a PNG, and the merged image for both 8- and 16-bit files. That link is to a Subversion repository containing source code.

Runtime "properties file" type functionality in OSB

I have looked and looked and can not find any straight forward way to have environment specific properties.
I am talking about application specific, environment specific data, not url's, security, transport or other osb isses.
I am talking about in dev my recordTypeId = x and in prod, it is y. I have read of some TransportProvider xml
getEnvValues(). I know that I could do something with coherence. But seriously, this has got to be addressed
and I am just missing it. Any help or pointers to doc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have done it this way: put a property file in $DOMAIN_HOME/config/osb - which is already in the CLASSPATH - and use a custom XPath function - in Java - to do a Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResource("mypropertyfile.properties") and load a Property object from it.
You can also write another custom XPath to reload properties from file, and a Proxy Service to invoke it - or expose it with JMX.

How can I make Keynote files read-only (eg: to share with students)?

I would like to share some keynote files with students, and I would like to set them up as read-only, so that the students can tap the screen, read my presentation, but not alter it. I've tried to set the files up as read-only on my iMac desktop, but when I load the file onto my iPad, it's still editable.
Any ideas re: how to make Keynote files read-only?
I've tried to export the files as PDF and load them into iBook, but some of Keynote's basic "build" functions won't work this way. Specifically, I have files set up with questions and answers (ie - a question appears, and you have to tap the screen to see the answer, but this "build" function seems to disappear when I get it to show up in iBook).
Any ideas how to make Keynote files read-only? I am happy to use another program, but I want the students to tap the screen in order to see the answer to a question.

as long as $PATH is set, you shouldn't need to reconnect them (i think). if you send the list of apps through | awk -F '/' '{print $NF}' | that'll strip the path

File read/write in Oracle JVM

Are there any known issues around file read/write in Oracle JVM. I finally got around the issue of getting the error that says no permission is there by giving <<ALL FILES>> option, but still I don't see a file being created. Any help is appreciated.

A couple of suggestions:
1. (Please don't be offended...) I assume you have some stuff like:
fwriter.println("hello");
fwriter.flush();
fwriter.close();
in your try block?
2. Try catching FileNotFoundException and SecurityException also.
3. Try providing a full path on the file just to make sure it's not buried somewhere odd.

Issue with excel file read is that we can read only one file by setting the path from ODBC Data Source Administrator-->System DNS -->Select Work book
what i want to read the dynamic path(Every time I cant go back and set the Work book to select the excel file..
So i came up with a solution to write a Vbscript that convert the excel to csv my problem got solved for dynamic paths the script is as follow:

I dont have the answer for your question but i have different approach in handling multiple Excel File.
Step 1. Copy a sample source Excel File and Call it Final.xls .
Step 2. Map this Final.xls to DSN and in Topology call this Final.xls
Step 3. Do the Reversing and Map and test the Interface . Once its done.
Step 4. Create a Package and using a http://odiexperts.com/?p=1426 get the list of all the Excel File
Step 5 . Using this http://odiexperts.com/?p=273 create a Loop to Read the Excel File name
Step 6 . Copy using OdiFileCopy to Final.xls and run your interface .
Step 7. Increment the Loop and copy your next File for Final and run the interface
Step 8 . Finally you will be able to read all the Excel File .
Step 9 . Delete the source file [ Optional ]

I get this process generation failed when i try to build it. The Empty_msg in inputvariable of invoke works but problem is with Charges_msg in output variable.

I would really appreciate your help here.

I face the same issue and I have given all permissions to the folder for OS user.
Because of this error my server is not starting up . Is there any way I can undeploy this composite to get my server running.
I cant do this from EM because SOA server is failing to start up.
I have tried removing it from $DOMAIN_HOME/deployed-composites but still when i try restarting the soa server the composite comes up there. Do we need to delete the entry some where else too. Kindly help.

Problem With File Reading And Sorting

I'm having problems with a particular task. Here is what I have to do:
Write a program which reads 100 integers from a file. Store these integers
in an array in the order in whcih they are read. Print them to the screen.
Sort the integers in place using bubble sort. Print the sorted array to the
screen. Now implement the sieve of Eratosthenes to place all prime numbers
in an ArrayList. Print that list to the screen.
Here is the code I have so far:

This is the file reading part I have done but it doesn't recognise the line numbers.add() . It brings up the error - 'Cannot resolve symbol - method add(). Thats the first problem I have, can anyone see any way to fix it and to achieve the task. Also can someone help with the structure of a bubble sort method and a sieve of Eratosthenes method as I have no clue whatsoever. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I've done that but I'm having another problem. When I'm printing an output to the screen, it prints 100 lines of integers and not 1 line of 100 integers. Can you see the problem in the code that is doing this?

The .plist files are almost always preferences. I believe "plist" is short for "property list". It contains a list of keys (configuration options) and settings for each key, similar in some respects to the way the Windows Registry works, except that there is a separate file for each set of settings, instead of a single registry file as in Windows. In this case it's a shared settings file for Mail, but I couldn't tell you anything more about the contents.
You were smart to back it up. Usually .plist files can be deleted without signicant loss, because they will be recreated automatically with default settings. But sometimes they contain important settings that may be hard to set up again, especially if you had help setting up your computer in the first place, or have lost important details that you'd need for setting up an app, such as Mail. But sometimes the settings are trivial, for example the position and size of windows, etc., and do not contain settings you'd care about, which may be in another .plist file or in some other kind of file/database.

PS CS3, Camera Raw 4.6 Update and Nikon D810 NEF File Reading Issue

Currently Have Photoshop CS3 & Adobe Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9.
According to Adobe, Camera Raw 4.6 supports Nikon D810 NEF files. I have downloaded Camera Raw 4.6 Update. When
I try to open Nikon D810 NEF files, I get Photoshop CS3 error that says
"cannot complete request your because it is not the right kind of
document. These NEF files wont open in Adobe Bridge at all. What am I doing wrong?

Before I purchased, let me get your thoughts on another option that just occurred to me which involves:
1)Editing my D810 NEF files in LR 5.6, which I have, then exporting/saving the edited files as JPEGs.
2) Doing any additional editing, as necessary (i.e. that might require layering or selections..etc) , with the JPEGs with Bridge or PS CS3.
This method wont involve any additional software purchase now.. right? Am I missing anything. here? Since my final output to my customers are JPEGs any way, wont this work? Will I be at any disadvantage. Am I missing anything. here?

How to make files read only

I want to make files read only. Any workaround is welcomed.

Based on what ElMagoElGato has described, password protecting would be of no value to him. Once the file is accessed, it is in edit mode. Unless I'm really missing something.
Files I have imported from Mac iworks apps with elements locked stay locked for me in iOS. Not sure what the problem is.

Input file size limition in File Reader Adapter

Hi,
We have a File Read Activity(using File Reader Adapter) which works on a Polling model. Whenever a input file is found in a designated directory it invokes our BPEL web service. During load testing we found out that if input file size exceeds 7 MB then we get "insufficient heap space" error. We found a reference to this size limitation in http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11036_01/integrate.1013/b28994.pdf which has below lines..
"Files that are 7MB or larger in size cannot be delivered. As an alternative, you can debatch large files (if they have multiple messages), and publish these files in messages of size less than 7 MB. This alternative is applicable only to structured files (comma-delimited or fixed position), which contain more than one message. It is not applicable to binary or XML files."
Our customer will have the data in XML format and the size of the files will be pretty huge(running into 49, 69 MBs). Do we have any workaround here or we are left with no option but to ask the customer to split the files and load it? The later option is currently difficult one for the customer since when split there is a possibility of XML becoming invalid. Any pointers in this issue is appreciated.

Hi,
BPEL can not process more than 7 MB size xml structred file. but,debatching will work for xml files also provided if the file has repeated multiple structures (means multiple repeated root elements).

UTL_FILE - file read error

Hi,
I am using UTL_FILE to read one file and write it into other file.
When i am executing procedure that uses UTL_FILE, i get error "ORA-29284: file read error".
I have checked that file exists with all permissions (r,w,e). Is there any limitaion of size to be read by utl_file. my file size is 62 kb.
I have set max_linesize to 32767/
Can anybody tell me the reason why it is happening?

What's the database version
A database object called Directory is also needed in database that is created using the create directory command which directs to the folder in the file system. Is that already created?
