File renaming and second copy

If I import RAW and tick 'Copy as DNG' and 'Make a second Copy' and 'File rename: Prefix-Date-Image#', the 'second' copies are not DNG and not renamed.
If I import JPEG and tick 'Copy' and 'Make a second Copy' and 'File rename: Prefix-Date-Image#', the 'second' copies are renamed!
So why in case of RAWs are the second copies not renamed? This bug precludes the use of more than one camera at a shoot.

How come??? I recall this was an old issue; is it too difficult to repair such a simple bug???

If this is changed, make sure it is a choice as otherwise the copy function is of no use to me. I do not want LR to make changes to the original files that I copy for backup in any way. I use the function for how it was designed (a temporary back up with no changes made to the files from the card) and make back ups of the files in the LR catalog separately. Once everything is safely backed up I can then delete the temporary copies.
I would guess there are lots of others like me who don't want this situation changed as we have been doing this for several years now since prior to LR 1 when the thing was in beta..

Missing "File Renaming" and "Destination" areas on the right side of the "Import, Library" module

Not sure why this is happening. I have uninstalled and installed LR3 three times on my Dell Laptop Running WIN 7. I have 8 gb RAM and a 750 gig HD. The processor is an Intel Core i5. According to the requirements, I should have enough hardware to run LR3. I have installed the updates so that I am running LR 3.6. For some reason, I am unable to locate the "File Renaming" and "Destination" sections on the right hand column. The "File Handling" and "Apply During Import" are visible. I have registered the program with Adobe, and believe that I have all of the current updates. The program loaded in the 64 bit mode.
Has anyone run into this problem before?
I have been unable to get the program to work properly without being able to have access to themissing items for Upload.

Nano3rdgen Copying playlist from itunes to ipod and it says it can't copy certain songs to ipod cos of file type.These problem songs all from same album, all ACC file type and all copied fine when I copied the album itself few weeks ago-help!

When copying playlist from itunes to nano3rd message comes saying 9 of songs can't be copied to ipod cos of file type. These 9 are all from same album, all ACC and all copied fine when I copied the album itselm some weeks ago. Rest of playlist was ACC too. P.S. album is a CD-R copied version-is this an issue? HELP I AM DESPAIRING!

I never laughed in all my life. Here I was, inserting the cd Dance with Me, thinking it's not going to copy the whole thing. yeah, right.
Sure, it prompted me, Do I want to replace the songs, so of course I said "no, don't replace the songs". and guess what it did. It copied the whole cd (at least I got my two songs).
I went into the itunes library, and sure enough, all the songs were there twice. So what did my intelligent brain think of? I just unchecked the doubled songs and stuck my ipod into my computer and it synched up and I got what I wanted.
Now what did I do wrong when it prompted me. I clicked on "don't replace" and it replaced them anyway.
Am I dumb? or is itunes stupid?

Second copy of redo log with scp.

As I had asked in brarchive configuration for a scp second copy,
I would like to use brarchive to do a first copy on our tape robot with backint and and second copy with scp.
When I test:
brarchive -s -c -u / -p initTST.brarchive.sap -> works fine
brarchive -sc -c -u / -p initTST.scp.sap -> does not work
BR0002I BRARCHIVE 7.10 (27)
BR0181E Option '-sc' not supported for 'stage'
initTST.scp.sap contains the following:
backup_dev_type    = stage
stage_copy_cmd     = scp
archive_stage_dir = /xxx/yyy
remote_host        = host.unige.ch
remote_user        = username
Is there something that I would have missed in the config or there is no way to get a second copy with scp?

If run a second brarchive -scd, with util_file, it does not find any "saved" redo.
There are only "archived" redo.
Therefore it does not save it.
If I run brarchive -sd with util_file, it finds the redo, saves it and deletes it.

Therefore the brarchive with util_file consider that the redo has never been saved (by the brarchive with stage options).
Now I have a pseudo solution.
By pseudo, I mean that the redo is deleted after a successfull copy to my tape robot even if the stage did not completed
successfully.
Do I have a way to tell brarchive that it should delete only if it has been STAGESAV AND SAVED?

Second copy is not Printing in SAP B1 2007 B

Dear Experts
In 2005 b i am able to print two copies of incoming payments in PLD
for eg : one copy for Customer and Second copy for Office
But in 2007 B , i am not able to view and print the second page. none of the error showing while taking the print preview, and i can take only one page. I did the complete set up in pld paper format and also in print preference . still in 2007 b , its not working.
Can any body help me to solve this issue

when you check make second copy when importing files lightroom stores a copy of the files in a location of your choosing, when you make changes or add metadata to the primary file does lightroom add the changes to your backup copy?

No. It is a once off copy of the imported files. The second copy is not associated with the catalog at all.

I cannot find "File Renaming"

I am an absolute newbe in Lightroom (version 5.7). I have watched some videos for an easy start, but I cannot follow them: All these videos explain how to import pictures from a card or from somewhere else, and all of them make use from "File Renaming" and "Destination" for one of the first steps. But I miss "File Renaming" and "Destination" and so I fail in my first steps. What can I do, in order to see these boxes while importing files?

You are using:
Import >> Add
It is assumed that the file names will correspond to those files already in a folder on the hard drive.
Re-naming and destination becomes possible when connecting a camera or card reader and using:
Import >> Copy

Download Helper, even with paid converter upgrade, gives "Invalid Capture File" errors and will not record audio, with "File Creation Error - Unable to rename/copy audio file" Error.

Download Helper Screen Capture worked to capture video if the default "no audio" option is active. But, no audio. The "speakers" or "microphone" audio options are confusing....the audio to be captured is from the video, so what do you choose? With either "speakers" or "microphone" selected, the captured file has poor audio and no video. Re-capture efforts (speakers) get "Invalid capture file error" and "File Creation error- Unable to rename/copy audio file"
The paid upgrade of "Converter" doesn't work.
Instructive documentation - not very good.
Suggestions - Need time delay between initiation of "Record" and starting the video to be recorded.
Could use timer tracking of the record process.
Are there operating system limitations? (Have Windows XP Pro)

Renaming and copying files (Bridge CS3)

Hi -- Scripting bridge, I am able to copy files using the copyTo(target) function.
I also can rename files using the Javascript file.rename() function.
But I am having trouble doing both in concert.
If I rename before I copy, I lose the reference to the selected thumb, and I cannot copy it.
I have tried using the Javascript file.copy() function with no success.
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can approach this problem?

Don't you just need to cancat the folder that you have as target and the thumbs name in a new file object?

Make a second copy on import to external drive and copy the file by date

In earlier versions I made second copies of files imported to an external hard drive. The files would import and automatically create a capture date file folder in the same manner as importing by date to the primary internal drive. At some point this feature seems to have gone away and now I get a folder on the external drive: p:\\pictures\2014\Imported on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. What I would like is: p:\\pictures\2014\2014-04-22
Is there anyway to force this to happen? I really hate having to manually move lots of files and create folders to keep the system I have had for years that organizes my files by date of capture on both the primary and backup drives.

Short answer: No. That is the way it is.
Why? The Make Second Copy during Import is designed to be a backup of your memory card processes-not a back up of your files as you store them on disk. It is intended to be a transient copy that allows you an immediate backup until such time as a File System Level backup can be performed, allowing you to have two copies so that you can reformat your memory cards.
I agree it would be nice if the folder storage strategy was duplicated for the backup as it is created for the import but that is not something you can set the program to do currently. I remember it behaving differently versions ago but do not recall exactly how it used to work.

Open up your System File Task and go to the expressions tab. Press the elipsis button, select Destination as the property, and use:

File Move and Rename Workflow and/or Script

This seems to be a simple workflow to create, but it isn't working for me. I want a workflow and/or script that will move screenshots from my desktop and place them into a folder. Secondly, I want these images to be renamed from "Picture #" to "Screenshot #" when placed in the folder. I also want future images placed in this folder to be named sequentially without any problems. For instance, if Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2, and Screenshot 3 are present in the folder after the workflow is ran once, the next file should be named Screenshot 4 when the workflow is ran again. Can anyone offer any assistance in this matter? I would greatly appreciate it.

If all you are doing is renaming and moving screenshots, then a regular AppleScript should do. Copy and paste the following script into the Script Editor and save as an application (uncheck the Startup Screen option). When it is first run it will ask for the destination folder, but after that it will use the same folder (until the script is recompiled, anyway).

I added a leading zero to the number suffix so that the items sort properly. Note that if one of the renamed items is removed, a new screenshot will take it's place (the suffix starts at the beginning each time). If this isn't desired, the script can be tweaked to remember the last suffix number.

Files Renamed when importing to LR4 and now can't find them in LR3

Help! What should I do???
Yesterday I installed LR 4 Beta. I had a folder with 300 images in it on LR 3, obviously all files had names. I imported these photos into LR4 to work with LR4 and they were renamed in the process. Now in my LR3 folder, all the files still have there old names and the "missing photo ?" and I assume that's because the name has been changed and LR3 can't find them. Any thoughts on an easy fix?

I must admit, I didn't pay too much attention when importing this "test"
group of photos to LR4, therein lies my problem. Now that I look at the
import settings that were used:
1. Files were not added or copied, they were "moved" to a new location and
also renamed.
2. Files were renamed starting with "264" using my regular import template.
Listed below are the first 10 photos with their original LR3 and he
changed LR4 names.
1201_001 changed to 1201_264-2
1201_002 changed to 1201_265-2
1201_003 changed to 1201_266-2
1201_004 changed to 1201_267-2
1201_005-Edit-Edit changed to 1201_268-2
1201_005-Edit changed to 1201_269-2

I have a back up of my images on an EHD from several days ago which has the
original file names, but this backup only has 203 of the 268 images I
imported yesterday and are renamed.

Itunes has renamed and reordered all of my music files. Why? can I undo it?

Sorry, I posted this in 'windows' by mistake...
I moved my music library from an ext drive to an int drive. Then I clicked "add to library" in iTunes [7.2(34)]. My target is the int drive, no files to be copied in my iTunes music folder. It uses too much memory (double!). When it was all done, most of the folders had been renamed and moved around. It will play through iTunes, but when I want to find an artist or album on the hard drive, it is like looking for a needle in a haystack. What happened and how can I either undo it, or prevent it from happening again if I go to my backup drive and start over again.

iTunes should only do this if the options are set in the itunes preferences.
The check box is Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized.
iTunes will organize files by artist>album
The next check box is Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library.
Does just what it says.
The first checkbox is the one that does what you described.
