File Reservation message

I have recently attempted to open some selected Excel files, and I immediately receive a message labelled File Reservation, which states that the file I am attempting to open is currently in use by another user. It offers the ability to Read Only the file until the other user is finished with the file. I have never encountered this particular message before, and it obviously prevents me from editing the file. I have located about 8-10 Excel files with this problem and have been unable to discern a pattern in the files affected. Can anyone explain what is going on here, and possible fix?

Double-click on *.rep file opens in DeskI with "File Reservation" why?

If I double click on myreport.rep it opens the report in DeskI but pops up a Window headed "File Reservation" with the message "myreport.rep is being modified by another user or application. Open as Read-Only, or choose Notify to be alerted when it is available." and buttons Read Only, Notify and Cancel.
If I logon to DeskI and then open the report using File->Open then there is no problem. Why can't I open it by double-clicking on it?
I am using BOXI R2 with SP4 and LAfix_409 on Windows XP to access a BOXI R2 SP4 Enterprise server running on AIX and I am using Enterprise Authentication to logon to DeskI.

Following solution might help you to resolve the issue:
Try deleting the following folders in the registry:
- Start -> Run -> Enter 'regedit'
-Locate and delete the following sub-folders:
-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\default\BusinessObjects\Application Preferences\Business Reporter\Desktop Intelligence
and
-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\default\BusinessObjects\Guest User Prefs
Note: Before performing the above mentioned tests please take the backup of the registry.

"Unable to Check Out File Error" Message

I'm new to using Adobe products, so forgive me if this is a dumb question! My graphic designer sent me a INDD file to edit the text in and when I try to open it in both InDesign and InCopy, I receive an "Unable to Check Out this File" error message. I just downloaded InDesign CC and InCopy CC (the free trial versions). She said that all settings on her end should allow me to view it. Any help is much appreciated!

I've just experienced the same error message in CS4. I got rid of it by going to the Links panel, selecting all the links to Incopy, and Unlinking.

cannot locate original music file error message ??? i transferred to a new laptop then some of my music collection seems to get this message .

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

Adapter Framework File Adapter Message on hold

Hello,
we have a problem with the Adapter Framework and their the File Adapter / Messaging System.
We process one HR IDOC from R/3 through XI and send it to 7 file adapters. The SXMB_MONI tells us that all messages have been processed without errors and when you go to the RWB and use the Message-Monitoring many messages are on status HOLD. XI makes the message EOIO once you have multiple receivers and something blocks the messages in the AF. Is there a way to delete the AF queues like the XI queues with SMQ1 or SMQ2. It looks like SAP had duplicated the SMQ business in JAVA but I found no documentation how to clean up queues or what to do if the get stuck.

but if you see them when you do it then
it means that this XI's configuration was not complete

File email message help

I am new to Blackberry and have been having issues filing emails to other folders. One email had teh file in the menu and I filed it inot teh folder I wanted but all the others do not have teh file option. I did all I could with teh desktop software and tried all I know.
Is there a way to create folders and file them without using teh destop synch software? If there was I wouldnt synch it, I would just use teh blackberry all teh time.
Any ideas would be helpful, If I can get ti to work on all messages with teh desktop synch software I woudl do that too. Its jsut not workign fo rme.

you want to deal with Blackberry Mail only, no desktop thing.
you have some mail folders that appear in your Blackberry Mail application
you receive all your emails in the Inbox
you want to dispatch some mails so a folder, some others to another. In Blackberry vocabulary, it's called "file a message".
that worked for just one email, in which the Menu key gave you the option to file the message
for any other message, the Menu key does not show a "File message" line

Dear Experts.
I am not able to generate one XSD file from message type from XI 3.0, When i select message type and go to XSD tab then click on export xsd to file, it is generating two xsd files MainSchema.xsd, Schema1.xsd into one zip file, but i need only one xsd file to import it into MDM.

If you have MMS set up on your cellular account (contact your carrier) and have MMS enabled in Settings>Messages, you should be able to send pictures. You can't send files most other types of files, though.

File Quarantine Message Removal Query

Dear Forum,
I am currently using TextWrangler in a non-admin 10.6.4 account to look into the files of a WP installation, however every time I try to open a new .php, the file quarantine message pops up, however as I have already installed the blog and run it (via MAMP), I am assuming that any nefarious code (if there is any) would have been executed already.
I have found this, but I am wary of using it as I, to put it simply, have no idea if this would do more damage than good, so I was rather hopeful that some clever forum members might take a look and comment (especially regarding: do shell script “xattr -d com.apple.quarantine”):

This Folder Action handler is triggered whenever items are added to the attached folder.

Looks fine AFAIK, but I'm not an AppleScript expert. The shell script part is fine.
Note that you should be careful with this. In Snow Leopard, quarantine protects you against several bits of malware. Although they're very rare and you should know better than to download any of them, you still don't want to remove that protection too quickly. Your purpose would be fine, but *DO NOT* apply such a folder action to a general downloads folder!

"Files Mismatch" message when logging

I'm in the process of logging my footage. All my clips are currently off line and when I try to reconnect them to the media (AIC.mov files in my capture scratch folder), I get the "files Mismatch" message. I tried to ignore it and continue but it messed up my time codes.
The reason I checked off the box "matching files only" is that FCP would not let me choose the correct file (it was gray) when trying to reconnect and that box was checked.
Any ideas?

I exported a batch list back into my documents folder and the clips have the same TC so I guess it OK. It's more detailed than the original excel doc, but the details are identical.
I have also moved back the project folder (capture scratch, render files etc..) into the documents folder as it was before and tried to reconnect but nothing seems to help.
As a guide I used the Ken Stones website and that's where I got the idea to do the logging offline using excel and then importing it into FCP. In the guide as well once he imported them into FCP they came of line but then he captured it from the tapes, but in my case all my footage is already in the computer, playing perfectly when played...

Adobe Reader will not email my .pdf files. Message: "Email has not been set up on this device." I have 4 email accounts that have been set up. When trying to email from Adobe, the email screen does come up, but does not allow me to enter any recipients in the field, and when I try, the email page's fields simply goes blank and disappears, taking me back to the document I am trying to send. After trying repeatedly, I get the message about needing to set up my email. My mother and I have also noticed that when we try to open documents sent in A.R., they may open, or just go blank. Any suggestions or fixes?

Setting up your email is a bit out of the scope of this forum. I'd suggest asking for help in the Apple forums devoted to the iPad. Good luck.

"Unrecognized file type" message

After importing numerous batches of photos from my camera I discovered the weird, randomly named folders iPhoto had put them into and tried to rearrange them. After discovering the mess I'd made I threw out the existing iPhoto database and preferences and tried to start over. Somewhere in there I got a prompt to update iPhoto (from what older version I can't remember), which I OK'd; it took about half an hour to "convert" to iPhoto 4.0.3. Now I can't import any photos at all: I get the "unrecognized file type" message even though I don't have any trouble opening any pictures in Preview or Photoshop. I've tried both the Import menu and dragging photos from the Finder.
Please help.

Here is the simple answers first.
1. You made the most common mistake with iPhoto You tampered with the database trying to change all those weird folders. You can't do that. More on this later.
2. When you get that unrecognizable message your are probably trying to import something that was already in the database. Can't do that either.
Read what follows first and then we can get you back up and working.
iPhoto Terms
iPhoto
The application is designed to do EVERYTHING working in the application with the options available in the window and menus. Basically, once a photo has been imported into iPhoto (file copied to the database) that file is available only through the application. To use it some place else (that is not an iPhoto option) - export, or drag it from the window.
Photo Library
Note: that is "Photo Library", not "iPhoto Library". This is the option you see in the source window to display all the photos imported into iPhoto.
iPhoto Library (Folder)
To avoid grief please read this carefully!. The iPhoto Library is a folder that iPhoto creates and by default puts in your user Pictures Folder. This folder is the database where iPhoto actually stores everything you have done in the application. iPhoto keeps this folder in a special way, with special files, folders and subfolders.
Leave this folder alone. Don't add, delete or change anything in this folder. If you do - the database can collapse like a house of cards. Don't browse through it with other applications, like email, one slip can mean disaster.
iPhoto can work with several databases - iPhoto Library folders - but can only open and work with one at a time. These folders can be renamed and stored anywhere - as long as iPhoto knows the name and location - and is directed to open with the folder you select. If you want to move or backup the iPhoto Library folder - you must work with the ENTIRE folder. Don't try to move or backup pieces of the folder.

MOV is a wrapper that can contain many different codecs. The message you get is indicative of a distribution codec inside the MOV wrapper. You may need to convert the material to an editable codec before importing.

I can't open my mail unless I use the Enter/Return key or go to the File -Open Message

Up until yesterday I could open an email just by double clicking the message. Now if I want to open a message I have to use the Enter/Return key or go into FILE and press Open Message.
The only thing different since yesterday morning is that I decided to turn off File Vault --that process took all day but finally finished and that's when I ran into problems with mail.
I've checked my mail settings and they are the same as before. Have OSX Yosemite 10.10.1 installed.

Thank you for your response. I finally found out why this was happening. It had to do with the Trackpad settings for my Mac. I adjusted the track speed to a slower speed as it was set quite fast. This seems to have fixed the problem :)
I’m not too computer savy so sometimes things can be a little confusing trying to figure out whats what and where to look for solutions.
