File´s wont open after re-installing FCP
Hello,
I have just re-installed Final Cut Studio 2 after the hard drive was replaced. When trying to open files that were made over the last
couple of years with this very version, about 44% is read and then this message appears - ´File´s format is too new for this version of the application´.
Would anyone have any advice as to why this might be and how to fix it?

My guess is that you will need to run Software Update to get it to the same version you had previously.

i just re-installed xp and itunes wont open now, shows this--iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
i tried removing quicktime and itunes and tried re-installing too...but wont help...
i downloaded the old ver 9.2.1.5 but it still wont work....

ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 6975515cI have wasted hours on this for the past few days, and this is what finally worked. I uninstalled both itunes and quicktime. I then reintalled itunes and quicktime, then uninstalled quicktime only. I then reinstalled quicktime standalone. For some reason it now works. I have no idea why this worked, but there had to be something strange going on with quicktime. I would try this before I got into the system and started deleting files, and turning things off. At one point I couldn't even restart my computer.....so don't go there. I am not happy that Apple does not come forward with more help, this is a real mess.

ITunes wont open after upgrade install
Installed the upgrade for iTunes and now it wont open at all. Clicked on the icon, clicked long on the icon and chose open, and lastly tried to open from applications but I get nothing. Not even an error message. Just a blink of the screen. Please help! I have a iMac version 10.6.8
Don't touch your iTunes Music folder. All your iTunes data is stored there completely separate from your iTunes application. You can delete or reinstall your iTunes Application without affecting your data. However, you should be able to use iTunes 9.
iTunes 9 requires OS X 10.4.11 or later and a Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5 or G4 processor.
It also needs QuickTime 7.6 or later. You can download it here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Note that there are separate versions for Leopard and Tiger. Pick the right one. -
Final Cut express wont open after Lepard Install
I just installed Lepard to my mac and Final cut wont open...its gone dead, I find out the my version of FC express is 3.5.1, I have been having a few different things happen within the last 72 hours of the install,My dock sometimes doesnt respond,I need some adviser on the Final Cut issue, I have work in there and I need to access it...Help,

Motion 5 wont open(after re install)
Hello All
New Mac/ FCPX/ Motion user having some problems.
I played a little with Motion 5 till it is froze and I had to "force to quit" it.
When I now open Motion I see the interface for 3 sek. and then it shuts down and I get " Motion quit unexpectedly "
I removed Motion 5 from my Applications and downloaded it again, but it still wont open, still saying " Motion quit unexpectedly "
I also removed the photos from the folder I was working with, just to see if that would help but no.
Any tips no how get this working ?

Iphoto wont open after i installed ilife11
i bought ilife 11 and i bought snow leopard. I installed snow leopard and then ilife11 my imovie updated fine but my iphoto wont even open. Theres just a circle and it goes around and around and it never opens. my itunes got messed up too i had to reinstall it and eveytime i restart my computer my itunes doesnt detect my ipod anymore so everytime i have to reinstall itunes. I really have to open my iphoto so please please help! i even tried installing it again and nothing. HELP!
first off run software update and be sure iPhoto is up to date

I have read the discussion on http://forums.adobe.com/message/5014352 and tried all three solutions. I get an error code 3 instead of the 0. Any idea what that means other than it didn't work.

sorry to say but if that error is in place, there is only one way to fix it. By uninstalling the itunes and re-installing it back. It will not take that long since apple has done a great job managing the installation, there must have some missing components that was not recognized as installed.
To ensure that your installation will be flawless, its a great way to close all windows and perhaps other applications running at the back, and wait a couple of minute until the installation is complete -

You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
/Library/Application Support/VSearch
/System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -

How to restore files from Time Machine after Clean Install of Mavericks. I know the data is there but seems unaccessable because I may have changed the Computer or Owner name. Is there any way to fix that now?

my back-up data is managed by Time Machine; the actual data is on a second internal Hard Drive with a capacity of 1TB - not partitioned. I am using Time Machine and have access to all data backed up since Mavericks Clean Install but not the data prior to this date.
When I open the 1TB drive in Finder I can see a folder "Backups.backupdb/Sigi's Mac Pro/ followed by many folders of backup dates going back to 2010-09-20-103441 and up to 2014-02-07-142414 all followed with folder Macintosh HD. February 7th 2014 was the date of the clean install.
These Backups are followed by backup date folder 2014-02-08-075554 with a subfolder of MacPro-320GB (this is the name I assigned to my Boot Drive during formatting; I suspect I should have assigned the same name as before ie. Macintosh HD) and 2014-02-11 with a subfolder Macintosh HD, these are the ones I get access to by way of Time Machine > Restore.
Weird thing is on Febr 11 when I relised my possible mistake and renamed the Bootdrive back to what it was initially ie. Macintosh HD despite this I have access to all backup data since the Clean Install in both folders MacPro-320GB as well as Macintosh HD but not to any data prior to the Clean Install.
Is there something that Time Machine knows and prevents access or is it simply a matter of renaming the subfolder 2014-02-08-07554/MacPro-320GB to ........./Macintosh HD?
I like to restore selectively and not everything - It was hard work reinstalling apps that were supposed to be the troublemakers (ref my discussion on Maverick problems) but I now need to get onto data specific to some of these apps as well as other data I may have missed. Long story? Yes and sorry.
