File Saving error in subfolders

When I try to save a file in pages it returns an error - The file "Focus15.3.15. pages dosen't exist". I have tried this with a number of files and they won't let me save in the subfolders of documents. This is a fairly recent error and may have started with a recent upgrade. OS X Yosemite 10.10.2

Either the files or folder security settings are limited to read only. If you're on a windows system, right click on the file and folder to which you're trying to save and see if the read only check box is selected or you don't have write access under the security tab.

Library file cannot be saved error -54

Anybody else get this error. It started a few days after I installed Leopard and started ripping my cd's onto an external hard drive. Once I get that error message I am unable to quit or force quit iTunes, but it does still function. I tried repairing permissions, and a restart(which ended up hanging up, and I had to hold the power button down) but the error came back after a while, and the same situation unable to quit or force quit, so I finally clicked the don't tell me again box. I really don't want to have to do a hard restart every time I use iTunes. Any suggestions?

First, try simply restarting your computer.
Try quitting iTunes, then deleting the .xml (not .itl !) version of the library file in the iTunes folder (iTunes will generate a new one).

I see no information about an error 54 but there is an error -54

Archive file with errors in sender file adapter not working! please help!

Hi Experts,
I have a file to RFC scenario. the input is a XML file. I have setup the flag in sender file adapter channel for archiving the input files with errors. But it is not working.
For testing I have used an invalid xML file for example without the main XML tag. I have also tested with a MSWORD file saved with.xml extension. But in both the cases the files are not getting archived.
My archive location permissions are fine and in fact normal archive operation is happening. That is, if I select the processing mode as "Archive" and gave the Archive directory then files are getting archived. The problem is only with the "Archive faulty source files" option.
What am I missing? DO I need to do some more configurations?
What are the prerequisites if any for this option?
How to test this?
Please help me! I will be greatfull to you all!

Elements do not show up in edge file but they do in HTML file; no errors occured

I am a senior in college working on building a website for a fictional company for a year-long thesis graphic design project. In my class last semester, I learned how to use Edge Animate and created an 11 page website without any trouble. I had always kept the files saved to my flash drive, and kept a backup on my personal laptop as well as on my external hard drive. There was also a backup of the files on a disc that I turned into my professor in mid-December. All of these files worked fine at the time.
In early January, I wanted to make changes to the website so I installed a trial version of Edge Animate on my laptop. When I opened any of the edge files from any of the backups, the stage was blank and the animations did not show up on the timeline. The elements of the website still show up in the Library but they are no longer arranged on the stage. When I got back to school at the end of January, I tried opening the files on the school computers and had the same problem. I asked my professor to try the file that was saved to the disc and he encountered the same issues on his computer. All of these computers are either iMacs or Macbook Pros.
I have not recieved any error messages and did not do anything to corrupt the files or save over them. I am able to open the html files in a browser with no issues; all animations and images work fine. The only change I can think of is that Edge may have been updated over break and when I installed the trial version I installed a newer version, and for some reason the new version of the program could not properly load my project that I started on a older version in October or November of 2013.
I am happy to upload the files but I am unsure how to do that. Please let me know if there is a way to resolve this issue, or will I have to start over?

End of file 16072 error encore V 1.5.1.42735

I've been at this awhile and usually don't have much trouble so this is beginning to make me a little cranky. I used to get this error once in a while for the usual reasons (vid and audio not same length and mismatch on time/duration on animated buttons). Latley it has started to come up on every single project and seems way random.
Here is the typical scenario. I Export a dozen or so movies from PPro 1.5 at MS DV AVI. I import as timeline in Encore 1.5.1. I use automatic transcode and build the DVD as an image on my HD to test. I get the end of file 16072 error.
This is how a I trouble shoot. I create a new Encore project called test. I import the .m2v and the .wav files from the Transcodes folder of the Encore project one at a time. In this way I avoid retranscoding the movie saving a little time. The test project has no menus or buttons and only one timeline set as first play. I build a dvd image on my HD one at a time until I get the same error in the "test" project. I then go back in PPro and work on the the Timeline that I exported the movie from. Sometimes I can just delete the last clip from the timeline and the error goes away. Then I edit the last clip back in, re-export and retest it. Most of the time it is then OK. If it is I then bring it back into the Encore project I was working on in the first place and works. Other times that does not work and I can keep going back one clip at a time until I find the problem or sometimes it is just quicker to re-edit the whole section of source material into a new timeline.
The project I am working on right now started out as seven hours of DV. I am working on the third DVD I created from it after editing down to about three hours of final footage broken up into about 36 timelines. This last Encore project has 14 timelines and three of them produce the error when testing. I just fixed one of them by deleting the last clip and testing. The other two are next up but jeeze this is getting old. No motion menus or animated buttons. The problem is with the .avi as in the test project I use it is the only timeline and set to first play with no menus or buttons.
I am looking for some informed advice from someone who has specific experience with this error and has whipped it. I have read more than a few posts from people that have gotten this error and with most it is because the material they are working with has caused it with good reason. That does not seem to be the case with my projects. I edit the same way, export the same way from PPro. I import in Encore and build basically the same project over and over. Why would I get this seemingly random error. Can I avoid it?
I have the Adobe Video Collection Professional, paid a ton for it and it does everything I need. I can't upgrade with out building an entirely new system to run the new software anyway and the money is not there for it.
I have 39 hours of video I need to edit into hundreds of timelines and this error is eating me alive. This latest project with 7 hours has had days added to it because of this error. Please help me learn solve ar avoid it.

I wonder if there could be some slight Durational difference between the muxed streams, since the Audio is in Audio Units and the Video is in Timecode. Just a sliver of difference *could* yield a problem.
I've read of similar with other muxed sources but never a definitive answer on why En does not pick up and correct this, or how it could occur with the Export from PrPro, or other NLE. Still, it does seem to happen on occasion.
Also, I usually have a bit of Black Video at the Head, and then some at the Tail, so in PrPro, my Video Timeline is always a bit longer, than my Audio Timeline. As there is no Audio signal at the end, PrPro can deal with it perfectly. Will have to try some muxed sources (not my normal workflow) to see if there is something else afoot.

Invalid File Name Errors when syncing to Ipod

Ever since an update last fall I have been getting Invalid file name errors when I try to sync my ipod. A window would pop up saying "Windows could not copy 'SONGNAME' to the iPod 'IPODNAME' because an unkown error occurred (-37)." I would press OK and another window would immediately pop up that would say, "Attempting to copy to the disk 'IPODNAME' failed. the file name is invalid or too long."
The windows would keep popping up countless times until the sync would just seem to time out and stop.
The problem songs would have no problem playing in iTunes.
Prior to the update this did not happen. No new songs were added around this time and nothing was changed to my file directory structure. I was too busy to troubleshoot this problem at the time and hoped that another update would fix it. Well, here I am many months and updates later and still no fix. After fiddling with iTunes and resetting my Ipod multiple times (goodbye saved angry bird games)I have found out that:
1. By writing down the file name when the error windows pop up I can get a partial list of the problem file names. I could not get a complete list of the problem files because the sync would time out before a full list could be compiled (the list appears to be in the hundreds).
2. If I changed the name of the file by adding OR deleting one character, remapping the song in itunes, the song would then sync properly.
3. If I changed the name of the file, remapped the location of the file within iTunes, changed the name of the file BACK to the original name that iTunes supposedly had a problem with, and then remapped the location of the song within iTunes, the song would then sync properly
4. If I moved the song to a different directory without changing the file name, remapped the song within iTunes, the song would sync properly.
5. If I moved the song to a different directory without changing the file name, remapped the song within iTunes, moved the file BACK to the original directory, remapped the song again, the song would sync properly.
6. If I renamed the file and then named it back to the original file name WITHOUT remapping the file location in iTunes, the song would still not sync properly
7. If I moved the file into a different directory and then back again without remapping the file location, the song would still not sync properly.
8. Changing or deleting the tags has no effect at all.
9. File name lengths are already under 200 characters and there are no special characters used.
So, to sum up, I have found out a way to fix the issue. The problem is, that there are hundreds of songs that appear to be affected and renaming or moving every single one individually and then remapping is extremely inefficient and ignores the cause of the problem. I also did not want to delete the itunes library and then add all of the songs back in because I have many custom playlists that I have spent hours creating and I do not want to delete them.
Is there a better way to fix the problem? Especially if someone knows the root cause?

I got a procmon log file and examined it. I have the file and I could also provide you with that or screenshots of it.
There is nothing unusual about it. I can see entires in which CR has successfully opened the report and has cached in a c:\windows\temp.
However there is one or two non-successful entries that may be related, especially that examining the stack trace brings us to a call to get_ProductLocaleID():
- A call to read reg entry HKU\S-1-5-20\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Locale fails with NAME NOT FOUND.
- immediately after that and from the same process (w3wp.ex) there is a call to open directory "c:\" which is logged as ACCESS DENIED.
Any subsequent unsuccessful calls seem to be results of exception handling in the debug code.
Does this point to any setup issues with CR? We always run the redistributable x86 runtime when installing it.

Difficult to open files saved in the MAC PC when working on the network.

Working on a network that has Mac and PC sharing and using the same file, but yesterday the illustrator went to the windows to open files saved in the MAC network. If I save the file on the hard drive it opens, but if you are not on the network. But if you open the same file with Photoshop does not show any error, even though network. I'm from Brazil and do not speak English, I needed the help of Google translator.

This is a known issue. Illustrator is not good at using network shares. I recommend you simply save and load all files locally and then copy them to your network locations afterwards, when needed.

CS6 AI Cannot open a file saved from CS5 AI

Had tried to save and rename the file and place in the local C: harddrive, filename only English letters. Doesn't work.
Had uninstalled completely the CS6 Master collection and CC cleaner tools and reinstall the CS6 again, but problem still there.
Using Win8.1 Pro 64bit desktop at home.
Acrobat X Pro can open the AI file !
I am going to reinstall back the old version CS5 Design Premium to keep my work going on.
Is there a solution for this problem up to now ?

I'm guessing it might have been a network corruption problem. She brought in her laptop, we made another .idml file and loaded it to a USB stick, then transferred it to my computer. The file opened just fine. And yes, she had pasted all her images, so we have her collecting the bits and pieces for me to review and relink everything. I believe I have the patch, but will double-check. Thanks!

As long as the PDF opens, then just try saving it to a new file name. There may be a preflight script that would help troubleshoot the issue.

Which operating system are you using? If you look in the Adobe Download Assistant is it still downloading the install files?

File Compression Error Occurred on Expert Settings

I finally thought I had a decent set of settings to compress the QT movie for YouTube (and will tweak this now that each ten minute movie can be 1 gig! Hooray!). So I used what had worked on the previous movies and got the error

The movie could not be properly compressed. The movie may contain some data that is invalid for the type of compression selected.
The movie itself contains imported footage from my camcorder (DV), as I usually use. And I used only iMovie stock music loops and one Sfx...all aif files.
I've tried tweaking the settings of Expert Settings here and there. Changed the 15 fps to 30. Made the Key At this point, what do I look at? Something within the movie itself? Or the settings (H.264, qual. Hi but also tried med, Frame rate tried 15 and 30, Key frame rate tried Auto and 10, Encoding multi-pass, Dimen. 640x480, Scale Letterbox. Sound is ACC, 24,000 kHz, stereo, bit rate 48kbps. Prepare for internet streaming is unchecked currently. Think it was that way when I last made a movie.
Don't know where to continue to troubleshoot this. URmpfff. Help!

Wow...this is a sticky problem. I could not resave the movie as another name. Frozen program, pinwheel of death, etc. I've had about three frozen attempts since I first wrote...
Googling phrase from error message got only a few lost souls who never did post the solution. One solution someone had figured the problem was with Flip4Mac...to uninstall it, but they had problems uninstalling it. So did it...frozen computer).
I did get this solution to work to move my movie along. It saved rather quickly to a 350 meg or so full quality file on Expert settings. Then got a single .dv file. Imported that into a new iMovie project (wonderful....that I titled My Great Movie fer petes sake...Hope I remember to retitle it.
Along the way were error messages like Error 54, no permission to write to file, no hard drive space, etc. Baloney, I think...or is there any clue in all this?

How to organize variables for file saving and scalability?

I have created several CVI applications that store production data for numerous machines. To organize the data for file saving I have implemented structures. This has worked well with one limitation, the inability to scale the structure at a later date without invalidating existing files. I would like to consider alternative approaches that would allow scalability.
Here's an example of my current method...

To assign a value to a structure variable:
// Assign value.

Then when it comes time to save the populated structures:

The problem comes later when multiple files already exist and one of the machine structures needs an additional variable added. For example, if I need to add int_param_4 to the machine_1 structure. Adding this variable will invalidate the previously saved files because they were saved with a different structure and will not be able to be opened with a new structure containing one additional variable due to the structure definition mismatch.
I have added spare variables per data type to the structures for each machine, but it's a losing game. If I add 10 spare variables, I end up needing to store 11 more pieces of data.
Is there a better approach?

One simple way is to output the data as ASCII comma separated values, with a newline character at the end of each row of data.
I.E., the only structure to your file data is a "row" of CSV's, with the file containing some number of rows.
Then, you load the data into Excel, and it will parse the CSV's for you and when it sees the newline, put the next set of CSV's on the next row of the worksheet.
If you ever need to expand the number of items in a row, you just add them as you generate data, pushing the newline to the right, the extra data extending the row.
So you get an Excel worksheet filled with rows of (possibly varying length) data.   So long as you add data at the end of the row when you redefine what you're saving, anything reading the file should see the same stuff that was always there.
You can write a macro to reformat or parse the CSV's once they're in the spreadsheet. With Excel 2007 supporting very large worksheets, you can put a lot of data into one. I think they expose a C interface for writing fast data manipulation of cell data now too - sort of a fast macro from the Excel viewpoint. I think the number of columns is 16384 and 1 million rows in a "Big Grid". The Excel 2007 engine is multi-threaded and you can tell it how many cores to use on a multicore machine.
So the only problem I see is the loss of local structure (your C structs get serialized and get concatenated to one another) but you could re-introduce the structure with a macro.
Or, if you were to write out serialized binary values and then view the file data using a hex editor like Neo, you can tell Neo what your C structs were and it will pick up binary file data and put it back into the C structs for viewing.
Or use MatLab to read the CSV's and reformat it.
Or use the CVI SQL interface and write it out as database records. I think the SQL toolkit costs extra, maybe it comes with the FDS.
