File Share OS 10.3.9 with OS 9.2 using Ethernet?

Is it possible to file share between min disc (Mac OS 10.3.9) iMac (Mac OS 9.2)?
If so how do you do it - I cannot get the mini disc to recognise the iMac
Thank you GMcG

On the Mini turn on Appletalk (Network pref pane.) On the iMac open the Appletalk control panel and set the drop down menu to Ethernet. Turn sharing on for both computers if you want both to have access to each other. Otherwise turn on sharing for the computer that will be accessed (server.)
On the Mini select Connect to Server from the Go menu of the Finder. Click on the Browse button. The iMac's share should appear in the window. Double-click to mount it. You will be asked for login ID and password or to access as Guest.

  • Clustered File share Permissions won't set (with error)

I have a s2012r2 cluster with a file server. When i go to create a new share it creates with read only permissions and i cannot change it to full or read/write. it is just the share permissions that won't set. when i create a share the error i get is "The
Cluster Resource could not be found." if i try to edit the share permissions the error is "Error Occurred while update an SMB share: The cluster resource could not be found" the admin share is working perfectly and the folder permissions are
    accurate.
The only solution to this problem i have found online that worked for someone is to destroy the cluster and rebuild it. I really don't want to do that.

    Hi RaVell(Pinki),
    This error typically occur when

  • Quorum location for Failover cluster file share witness

So, I've done quite a bit of searching for what I'm about to propose and I've been able to find nothing.
I currently have a multi site failover cluster hosting separate 2-node SQL clusters at each site connected through an Availability Group.  For the failover cluster I am using a file share witness hosted on a server at the primary site.  Both sites
are built entirely on vSphere 5.5 and have full replication for the production servers.  If the primary site goes down (disaster), I'll need to force quorum in the secondary site to a new file share witness.
    Well, I got to thinking...
Why not just replicate the server hosting the file share?  I completely understand the reasoning behind not putting the file share witness on DFS, but a replicated virtual server, why not?  If the primary site fails, the replicated server hosting
the file share witness is brought online with the rest of the production servers in the DR site.  In that case, the only thing that changes is the server IP address, but ultimately, the server name and share where quorum is hosted all stays the same.
Ultimately this prevents needing to find a 3rd geographical/cloud location to host a quorum/witness at.  I can't imagine it's this "simple", but maybe it is.  If this is possible, and there's not something I'm missing, this essentially
makes the quorum file share witness site agnostic, meaning it could live or be moved anywhere that replication is allowed.
Ideas, thoughts?  Am I missing something?
    Thanks!
    Chris Miller

Most likely it would be better to put this question to the High Availability forum -
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=winserverClustering
But, might need a more complete definition of your environment.  Are you saying that you have multiple 2-node clusters, each with one node in the primary and the second node in the DR site?  And you have a single file share server located in primary that
is used to host the file share witnesses for all these clusters?  You want to use VMware to replicate the file share server to the DR site so that it can be made available should the primary site fail?
It should work, but it will not be automatic.  After all, the replicated VM will need to be brought online at the DR site so the SQL cluster will recognize it.  That is not an automatic process.  So the cluster will be down until
you bring the file share server online so it can be recognized.  Not a whole lot different that simply forcing the DR SQL host to run without quorum.

  • Does file share preview support NFS for mounting in linux?

I've been experimenting with the file share preview and realized that cifs doesn't really support a true file share, allowing proper permissions.
Is it possible to use the file share with NFS?
    thanks
    Ricardo

    RicardoK,
No, you can't mount an Azure file share via NFS. Azure file shares only support CIFS (SMB version 2.1). Although it doesn't support NFS you can still mount it to a Linux system via CIFS. Install the "cifs-utils" package ("apt-get
install cifs-utils" on Ubuntu). You can then mount it manually like this:
    $ mount -t cifs \\\\mystorage.blob.core.windows.net\\mydata /mnt/mydata -o vers=2.1,dir_mode=0777,file_mode=0777,username=mystorageaccount,password=<apikeygoeshere>
Or you can add it to your /etc/fstab to have it mounted automatically at boot. Add the following line to your /etc/fstab file:
    //mystorage.blob.core.windows.net/mydata /mnt/mydata cifs vers=2.1,dir_mode=0777,file_mode=0777,username=mystorageaccount,password=<apikeygoeshere>
It's not as good as having a real NFS export, but it's as good as you can get using Azure Storage at the moment. If you truly want NFS storage in Azure, the best approach is to create a Linux VM that you configure as an NFS file server and create NFS
exports that can be mounted on all of your Linux servers.

  • I have set up a file share but cannot login with my account

Hi everyone. I set up a file share using the settings in OS 10.5, however when I go to login on Windows Vista using my specially created read only account (called: remote). I cannot get it.
I can only get in using these settings:
    user name = xxx.xxx.x.xxx\myaccount
    password = blah blah blah.
Yet when I apply the same settings changing 'myaccount' to 'remote', I cannot get in.
I'm not sure where I am going wrong, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

No need to apologise, I'm the idiot who can't setup a home network. Although I'm sure Vista is at least to blame somehow.
I have sharing turned on and it says "Windows users can access your computer at smb://192.168.x.xxx."
If I click "options" it has a box which has an "on" tick box and my name. I have ticked it. When I ticked it, it asked for my admin password which I supplied.
On the firewall front I have allow all incoming connections.
I am trying to login to 'remote' whilst my Mac is still logged in as me, 'nathan' I have successfully logged in to the mac on the same settings using account: 'nathan' on Vista whilst still in 'nathan' on the mac.
I am trying to connect going into network on vista and selecting my mac, correct.
The connect works with 'nathan' if I go:
    192.168.x.xxx\nathan
    password
but for some reason the 'remote' user I have set up wont work on vista using the same format.
    Thanks.

  • How do I share files uploaded into the Creative Cloud with other creative cloud members?

How do I share files uploaded into the Creative Cloud with other creative cloud members?

    Should be easy.  Try this...
In Thumbnails view, click the little triangle (pointing downward) in the lower-right corner of the asset you want to share.
In the blue icon bar that appears, click the Share icon (the third icon from the left, just right of the trash icon). The Share dialog should pop up.
In the Share dialog, enter the email address of the person with whom you want to share the asset, then click the Send Email button - they'll receive an email with a link to your asset. OR
You can also copy a link to the asset and then paste that into your own email client if you prefer.  To do that, click the Link icon (looks like a "chain", and is to the right of the email "envelope" icon) - then click the Copy Link button.
Note that the Share options won't be available if your asset is set to "Private" - you can control whether an asset can be viewed (or downloaded) by others by clicking the Public/Private control (green or red "lock" icon).
You can also access the same Share controls if you click on the file to see it one-up (you can do this from either Thumbnails view or List view); click the Share icon near the upper right corner of the browser window (to the right of the asset name).
    Hope that helps.

    Hi!
I have a WD my book external hard drive plugged into my imac and I want to share it over my network with my apple tv. I went into system preferences > sharing, checked "file sharing" and added my external hard drive to the shared folder. So now it is listed in "shared folders" but under "users" everything is grayed out (it says "read and write" for "everyone" - but "read and write" is grayed out, and it doesn't let me add or subtract users). Now I can access all of the folders I shared from my imac except for the externalhard drive. What's going on?

Hi RRFS!,thanks for help.I forgot to tell that hard drive has 2 partitions 1:format :Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and that works properly,2:format:MS-DOS (FAT32) and when i "get info" for both :first has shering & permitions:You can read and write - with name and privilege, second has shaing & prermissions:You can read and write- without name and privilege

My PowerMac G4 can file share with the iMac as well as my PowerBook G4.

The iMac and PowerBook cannot file share with each other. I've tried everything I've known and read to do in the Network and Sharing sections on both computers. Still nothing.
I will add that I have to manually type in the Server Address for the iMac to connect to the PowerMac as well for the PowerMac to connect to the iMac.

  • How can I file share with another person if both of us are using Mac operating systems?  Do we need to use a third party file sharing system or does apple have this capability?

How can I file share with another personif both of us are using Mac operating systems (one of us using a Mac laptop and the other using iMac).  Our intention is to have a working document that can be changed by both parties over time and both parties will have visibility to the others changes.

  • IMac file share with an Imerge s3000 server.

I cannot get ny mac to connect with an Imerge s3000 music server.  I can operate the system through the mac using the TV interface but I cannot share files.  The server is recognised by the mac on the network but each time I try to access the files it reports connection failed.  I need to access the files for backup and storing downloaded music.  I have followed all the instrctions but all goes well until the last step of opening the files.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your reply.
I have followed the same process. The credentials which I have given are same as my PC. But I am getting the same error. Can you please clarify the statement "Service
account that is using for file share subscription should have write access to shared folder."
    given in the above link?
I am the one who created the folder and subscribing the report, so probably I have the full write permissions to the shared folder. What is the service account in this context?
I think the problem is, I am deploying the report on the server and creating the shared folder in the local machine. I tried giving shared folder permissions to the user on the server. But my local machine is in local domain and I cant access the users on
the remote server. Do I need to create a shared folder on the server? I am new to SSRS. Please help me.
PS: I have assigned with all roles viz. Browser, Content Manager, Publisher, Report Builder etc. and My Role name (WEBSERVER\User)
is different from my local user name (domain\username) in domain.

  • Combine AlwaysOn AG with file share cluster

We’re a quite small company, but need HA for services in the DMZ. So we decided on SQL 2012 AlwaysOn AG in order to serve load-balanced web servers. (We do use AlwaysOn AG for SharePoint 2010 and a new critical application.) Now the web servers
in the DMZ also run EPiServer; here we need a HA file share for the AppData folder (BLOB files).
Could we combine these requirements on two servers? Or do we have to install four?
    MCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M

Yes.  If you have shared disks you can create an HA file share on the two cluster nodes that you use for your AlwaysOn AG.  But this is an unusual configuration.
Another option is to simply use SQL Server as your HA file share using FileTable.
FILESTREAM and FileTable with AlwaysOn Availability Groups (SQL Server)
The cool thing here is that you get an HA file share without a shared disk.  All the files saved to the share would be replicated to the other node by the AlwaysOn AG.
