File Sharing in Itunes

Hello,
I discovered tonight that someone has been using my computer to File Share Itunes. I have followed the directions to "Edit - Preferences - Sharing", and I've put a password protect on the Ipod files, but this had not worked. The name of the file leaching on my computer is offensive in and of itself, not to mention the unauthorized access. How can I get rid of this guy?? Help me please!

Try this:
1. Right click start
2. Select explore
3. Locate you Itunes folder
4. right mouse click it.
5. Select properties
6. click on the tab "share"
7. deselect "share this folder on the nework"
8. Click ok

How do I set File Sharing in iTunes to keep files up-to-date? i tried iTunes File Sharing, but the updates to the files never transferred across the USB during sync. Tried to use Documents to Go, but the Apple behavior keeps them from syncing via USB, so when I am home and have no wifi/internet there is no way to transfer the files. The other apps I have looked at also use wifi/internet to get around the problematic Apple behavior, so there is no way to connect via USB that I have found other than the iTunes. Have not been able to locate any helpful information to configure the File Sharing to hotsync the files between pod and computer.

I am trying to USB sync Word, Excel, and PDF files between the ipod and the PC.
Pretty sure icloud has to have the internet to work, but I can try to see what USB options there are there when time permits.

Where is file sharing in iTunes 12? I used to click on the iPhone or iPad device, then select the 'apps' tab and then file sharing apps like VLC would show at the bottom. Now clicking on the device doesn't do anything.

OK, I found it. In the upper left under the menu bar are some icons. Click on the iPhone icon, then select your device, iPad, iPhone, whatever. In the far left column that appears under your device, select apps. Then you'll see apps to the right of that column. Scroll down to the bottom and you'll find the file sharing apps.

IPad Apps File Sharing in iTunes - files not displaying

Are you not supposed to be able to copy files to and from your computer/iPad for apps that support File Sharing in iTunes? When I open iTunes, connect iPad, click on the Apps, scroll below to File Sharing, the files on my iPad for the apps listed do not display; ie: Pages documents, Numbers documents, etc. I am running a Windows XP computer. I'm quite certain they were showing up there a few weeks ago.

You have to tell the iPad to send it to iTunes.
Open the document you want. Tap the spanner icon. Click Send to iTunes.
Now go to iTunes, find the iPad in the left hand pane, click Apps at the top, go to the bottom of the page, select pages in the box under 'File Sharing', and you will see that document there.
Pointless feature but there you go.

File sharing in iTunes can't save file as says the required file can't be found

I have an app which records video surveys (Miituu). I export the responses within the app and then use the file sharing section of iTunes to save the exported folder onto the PC so that I can access the files. However, despite the exported survey showing in iTunes in the file sharing section and displaying a MB size every time I try to 'save to...' it comes up with an error saying
'xxx' could not be copied because an error occurred. The required file could not be found'
Any ideas?

You might try resetting the App Store application and clear the cookies via this menu:

On the Device sync pages. Select Apps scroll down to the bottom and it will be there.
However it will not be there if you do not have any apps that support file sharing on your device

It will depend upon the app that you are wanting to copy them to. I have the GoodReader app which supports a number of document types (e.g. word, PDF, text, rich text - read-only, it can't edit documents) and I can zip a directory on my Mac, add that .zip file via file sharing, and then unzip it into its folder structure within the app - I haven't done large directories, but it seems to work to at least one sub-folder level

File Sharing in iTunes doesn't work on W7 Ultimate 64bit with IPAD

I have Numbers Pages and Keynote on my IPAD
If I connect to my PC via USB and go straight to the application tab in Itunes and click one of the apps on the Fileshareing window I can see my files bit just after the sync completes they all disapear !!!!
Why is this ??
Note I deinstalled and reinstalled Itunes several time and this doess not fix the problem
Windows is fully patched and the IPAD is running the latest available sware

I have same problem too. At the first, even after JB, it's OK! once I install some ebook software.... problem happen, now even JB or not, and I already install uninstall itunes several times, reset ipad serveral times and upgrade to 3.22.......
Now the situation is only allow one software on file sharing content, it will show all the file in that software and can be add or delete. Once I add one more software even movie player, quickoffice or cloudreader..... all problem in the file sharing contents but cannot see the doc now and cannot add and delete......

I am using an app that let's you create ringtones. Once created you are supposed to be able to see the songs in the file sharing part of the apps tab on IPhone device on ITunes. However, I can't scroll down to see my files. I can see the part that says apps that allow file sharing, but if I click and arrow down it only moves on the left part of the screen and changes the device to Genesis. I recently purchased a Mac, and this is the first time I am using ITunes with Mac and have this problem.

Have not been able to find an answer for this. I transferred a file from iMovie on the iPod to the computer and it said "Your project will appear in the File Sharing section of iTunes." Cannot find the File Sharing section anywhere on the menu. iMovie on the iPod says the movie was transferred but I can't find it in iTunes. Can't find it using Finder either. I found 3 others who had the same problem but no answer.

It's not in the main menu and not very intuitive, but, get the device you were running iMovie on connected to iTunes so it displays in the "Devices" list.
Select the device so the main panel shows its details.
Click the "Apps" header on the devices details
wait an eternity while it loads
scroll down to the File Sharing section
Click iMovie
You should see your project on the right
iTunes is the slowest app on my computer by the way.<edited by host>

TS1702 the recorder app in my iphone5 shows the files but won't play them. I also cannot transfer them to my computer. The file list shows up under file sharing in itunes but when I try to save the file it says it's not there. Help. Everything is updated.

Back up first (Time machine) as much as possible.
Un-install and re install Itunes.
First and foremost download the updated iTunes from apple website. After downloading Uninstall itunes and all its component ( Dont worry, itunes library where your movies and music is located will not be deleted. Please follow instructions on the apple support page). The problem might be the AppleMobileDevice.kext

I have been working on a file in pages which I cannot open now. Every time I select it "an error occurred and pages must close" appears. Files sharing in itunes doesn't work either. Any suggestions?? THANK YOU

I have tried to duplicate the document but cannot open the copy either. I am unable to email, share via iwork, itunes, idisk or WebDAV all of these options just close pages down. And you are quite persistent, Menu Boy, in offering pernickety and pointless prattle, in response to a "support page" on iPad's buggy Pages App.
Let's summarise, for those reviewing this threadless thread for app support..
Mobile pages works reliably for simple docs, especially creating letters and Menus for Microsoft's Kindy canteen (even on special days with nice big pictures).
When importing more complex docs and/or working with larger creations, it is prone to randomly corrupting files upon re-opening, along similar lines as Word (running on a PC).
So, Menu Boy, do they let you sneak into classes every now and then? What is the secret to their training? "Say after me, if any I.T. product works just some of the time, that's a job well done, and if something randomly stops working, we call that the user's fault... And if they complain, we call them names."

HT4997 I made a movie on my ipad using iMovie. It says that it is in file sharing on itunes but I can't find file sharing.

This is for a class that I am taking and I also need to send the movie to my professor somehow. It is too long for youtube and too big for vimeo so I may need help with that too- once I find it on my desktop (imac).

What you share on iTunes file share is the project itself, not the final video. Press share > camera roll. And then you can access the video on explorer/finder as any other photo.
