File sharing missing with ios 6 on ipad

Airplay and file sharing missing on iPad 2 after installing IOS 6.

iOS printing to a non-AirPrint printer is not supported. There's more information here: AirPrint 101
If you had iOS printing working through yout OS X Server then you must have had another piece of software running in the server emulating AirPrint. That software isn't compatible with iOS 6.

    Hi,
I have iWork '06 on my Mac (running OS 10.6.8). Will I be able to use the Keynote files it produces with the Keynote iPad app?
    Thanks,

You probably can open the Keynote '06 files with Keynote for iOS but not the other way around. Files created by the iOS iWork apps can only be opened by iWork '09 apps on the Mac.

  • File sharing problems with my Media Player, an A C Ryan

I have a media player, an A C Ryan, hooked up to my wifi at home and it normally accesses all my hard disks that is plugged and shared on my iMac. I had no problems when the iMac was on Snow Leopard. Under Network/Workgroup in the AC Ryan's menu, I can see and access all the files on the hard disks.
The moment I upgraded to Lion, all such access was lost. The AC Ryan cannot connect to the hard disks any more via the wifi network. it's as though file sharing has stopped completely. I checked the file sharing settings on the iMac and nothing has changed i.e. the disks were shared as usual. After struggling with many possible solutions and failing (I checked out a lot of forums), I reintalled Snow Leopard and the problems were immediately solved.
Is there something seriously wrong with Lion's file-sharing? Has this been fixed in 10.7.2? My friend who has a similar setup (his media player is the WD Live) has exactly the same file sharing problem with Lion.
I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

I believe that NTFS-3G has issues with Lion.
I use Paragon NTFS and have had no issues at all. I am pretty sure that NTFS-3G will get updated, but you need to check their site to find out when.

  • Can't see shared printer with IOS 6 on ipad 3rd generation

I just upgraded my 3rd generation ipad to iOS 6.0 and now it won’t see the shared printers at my office. The printers are shared on a Mac mini server running OS X Server Lion 10.7.4. I can still see the shared printers and can print to them from a 3rd generation ipad with iOS 5.1.1.
Does anyone know what apple changed with iOS 6.0 that makes it where the shared printers aren’t showing up and what I might need to do to get them back working on my ipad with iOS 6.0?
    Thanks -

  • How can I sync all documents and files in Adobe in iOS on iPad to another device

I am using Adobe Reader app for IOS and can't seem to find a way to synchronise files from  iPad through to iphone or other device. Does anyone know if this can be done on this app?

Here are three ways to do it. None of the ways is automatic:
    (1) Get an Acrobat.com account, and copy your files via Acrobat.com:
    http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3440
    (2) If you have a computer with iTunes, and you're syncing your iPad and iPhone to this computer, your PDF files already exist on the computer. In iTunes, select the device. Then go to the Apps folder, scroll down to the File Sharing section and select Adobe Reader. All your PDF files are shown and you can save the ones you want to your computer hard drive. Then import them in a similar way via iTunes.
    (3) Use a Dropbox account. Install Dropbox on both your iPad and iPhone. Copy the PDF files via Dropbox.

  • File sharing issue with Leopard and Windows XP

I had no problem with file sharing (see the Windows machine on Leopard) before I reinstall the XP and update to SP3.
Now I cannot get the XP shared disk displayed on Leopard Finder. I looked through some guides and check these:
    Both the two laptops are in the same workgroup called "WORKGROUP";
    XP firewall disabled;
    XP Guest Account enabled.
But I just cannot get the Windows icon back to the left column of my Finder. Have I missed something? Any body with any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Same problem but almost the reverse. 10.5.2 server, windows clients file browsing, opening and saving speed is great, but our 4 iMac clients (Leopard also) really, really slow to generate thumbnail views of files and open them. Happens across several shares, seems to be a problem with AFP, although now after disabling AFP on some of the shares, it is happening on SMB as well. I have read several other discussions on this forum that attempt to deal with AFP performance issues, but none provide a real solution. Now that it is also happening with the SMB protocol as well I am getting a bit concerned.
Any advice or even a link to more info would be greatly appreciated.

  • File Sharing Missing from Sharing in System Preferences

I had file sharing working, and today I can no longer connect from a windows PC. When I go to System Preferences, Sharing, File Sharing is missing in the list. The only options are the following:
    DVD or CD SHaring
    Screen Sharing
    Remote Login
    Remote Management
    Remote Apple Events
    Bluetooth Sharing
Not 100% sure when it stopped working, but I think the last change was upgrading to VMware Fusion v2.0.5 fron 2.0.*, and I upgraded to 4GB of RAM. Also I noticed my hostname had changed with a 2 at the end (HOSTNAME 2). Not sure when that happened, but thought it could be relevant. Any ideas?

It is strange - it almost seems like your machine has two copies of your OS, one with the normal hostname, and one with the hostname with a 2. I can't imagine something like that happening, unless the VMWare somehow imported your Mac OS - or that a backup copy of the Mac OS was installed on a separate partition on your Mac, and somehow you're logging into that 2nd copy without realizing it. (Twilight Zone music here!)
Does your Mac otherwise boot up normally? Have you tried using the disk utility to do a disk check (and see if some ghost partition shows up)? Or, have you already done the dreaded re-install?

  • Lion server file sharing issue with windows API read/write ini file (GetPrivateProfileString)

    Hello,
I try to config lion server as file server for a windows application we use at work. All other computers are windows 7 or XP, lion server is the only mac. I choose lion server because it's size, quality and personal love of apple products.
10.7.2 lion server's samba file sharing works almost perfectly with all my windows machines, I can copy, delete, modify any text files or office files without any issue, but the most important windows application for my business doesn't work with samba file sharing. After some digging, I found it is because windows program can't read or write INI file stored on lion share. Windows API GetPrivateProfileString always returns empty if the INI file is store on lion share.
You can download a small application for read/write windows INI file from codeproject.com to test this problem:
    http://www.codeproject.com/KB/files/ini.aspx
I can open/edit the in file using any text editor without any problem. The only problem is with those windows APIs. ACL is turned on for my lion share and assigned "delete" rights to samba users.
I install samba3 on the same server; it works perfectly with windows API. My windows program also works. Looks like there is something wrong with lion server's sambax.
I'd prefer to use built-in samba even I have samba3 working. Built-in samba is very immature right now, but considered how young it is, I will give apple some time to make it mature.
Does anyone have same issue or knows how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Michael.

All the memory is fine. The server rarely if ever goes down when there are only around 10-12 users connected. When there are 20+ users connected and working heavily it goes down often. When I say working heavily, I mean they are transferring huge files to the SAN (100GB+), sometimes 5 at a time per user, and there are a bunch of others who are reading large video files at a minimum of 220MB/sec from the SAN.
Though this worked on Snow Leopard without any issues, Lion just doesn't seem to be able to handle it. The odd thing is, on Snow Leopard there was only a single 1GB ethernet connection to a NAS system, whereas with Lion we have a much more powerful machine with a 6-port 10GB ethernet card and a 4 lane 8GB fiber card to a true SAN. You would think that the newer scenario with Lion would handle far more users with ease.
So far, very disappointing with regards to Lion's file serving performance.

  • File sharing problems with T500 and T410 and a desktop all running XP Pro SP3

Others have had similar problems with what appears to be an overriding of Windows file sharing by Access Connections.
My three computers, printers and internet modem are networked and working fine both wired and wirelessly except that while the desktop computer in network places can "see" shared folders on the Thinkpads, access to them is denied. Access to desktop shared folders from the Thinkpads works fine.
All the usual sharing settings have been checked and verified by Microsoft support; it does not so far have a solution.
Could this issue please be addressed more thoroughly and/or suitable documentation referenced? I have read the blurb about Access Connections but can't make a lot of sense of it.
    Thanks

When you use the Desktop top menu bar Go/Connect to Server and enter
    smb://nameofPC
    what happens ?

  • New to Mac - File sharing issue with windows PC?

    Good day
I have a win7 pc with all my movies storred on.  I shared the folder on the network, and can access the folder from my windows pc and my MacMini.
The problem is that my MacMini does not pic up all the files/folders on the shared folder.  I would guess it only picks up about 80% of the files/folders.  When I connect to the shared folder from the windows 7 pc it picks up everything.
    More info:
    Win7 Home (all updates done)
3tb drive (not sure what you call it, but it was formated with NTFS guid table)
Full read Write share enabled to everyone
    MacMini Latest hardware and OSX.
Shared folder shows in shared part of finder.
Already did a restart of both PC and Mac
Already did a clean-up on mac.
The mac connects via wi-fi and win pc via ethernet
Please help me on what more I can try

I've seen this a long time ago, seems SMB on the Mac was limited to the number of listings, if you Share an inner folder, does OSX show more files in that folder?
No idea if this works in 10.8, but will mention it...
    SMBUp
Did you lose your shared folders with the update of Mac OS X from Snow Leopard to Lion? You can’t see your shared folders from your DVR or Medicaneter boxes hooked up to your TV? The internet tells you to install gigabytes of developer tools and use tons of command-line instructions to regain the ability to see your mac from your other devices in the house after moving to Lion? We might be able to help.

  • File Sharing MacBook with Mac Pro

Have been researching how to set up the ability to see my Mac Pro's HD from my Mac Book. Have 4 HD's installed in Mac Pro and would like to access my photos on my Mac Pro from Mac Book. Have Photoshop CS3 Extended on both machines (need to de-activate one not running on) and would like to edit image files with CS3 on my Mac Book. Mac Book has 120GB HD with 4 GB RAM to run CS3.
Mac Pro is hard wired (ethernet) to cox.net and Mac Book is wireless to cox with Netgear router-WEP.
Have gone into system preferences on both machines and under "Sharing" enabled file sharing.
However I still don't know what to do next.
Customer service person at Simutek in Tucson said she sees her Mac Pro in the left side of a finder window on her Mac Book. ( I had taken my Mac Pro there to have an Airport card installed thinking that was necessary for file sharing, but she said I can do that with my existing home wired/wireless setup). I'm a novice on setting up a home network system, so would appreciate a step x step procedure for file sharing my two machines.

If you just want to do this on your home network, wired or wireless, and you've already enabled file sharing, you're done.
Just hit command/k to Connect To Server, then hit browse.
    Your MacPro should show up.
Double click on the icon, and since you have Leopard, you have a choice of connecting as a guest, or as a registered user; choose the Connect As button, and the first time, you'll have to type your administrator password, and check the Remember Password In My Keychain box.
Now you'll get a choice of volumes, or drives, to mount on your MacBook's desktop.
You should be able to use the new Screen Sharing feature, too, which lets you see and control the MacPro remotely.
To see the Mac Pro in the left side of the finder window, you'll need to go to Finder Preferences, and check the Connected Servers box.

  • File Sharing Speed with Leopard Server/ Windows XP

Went from Panther Server to Leopard Server. Panther worked fine. Leopard Server we've had a lot of problems with Windows XP clients. We run data files from the server. Using Panther the file sharing speed was comparable to putting the data file on the PC itself. When we moved to Leopard the speed went through the floor. 8 seconds on the PC and 4.5 minutes on the Server. The server is a substantially stronger machine with a lot more resources - but we've had to stop using it for it's intended purpose.
    Help?

  • File sharing works with one xp machine, not the other

Hi folks, I just switched over to Mac! So far so good with my new macbook. I have two identical gateway xp machines. Strange thing is, the macbook connects perfectly to one of the gateways for file and print sharing, but cannot connect to the other. In finder the name of the computer appears under "shared", but when I click on it, after attempting to connect, it says "connection" failed. For the xp machine in question, I have run the home networking "wizard" and have used trouble shooter. The computer has a unique name on the network, and the directories have been set for sharing. I've tried removing the firewall--though the firewall is instructed to permit networking. So, what can I do? Thanks everybody.

    Interesting.
On the troublesome XP box, set the permissions for your shares are set that "everyone" can read the share. (No need to give write access).
I am assuming that you are using XP Pro and staying away from "Simple File Sharing".

  • Originating File Sharing Mini with Leopard G3 Beige and Vice Verse.

I guess a sub-heading of this would be connecting to the newest Mac from an older one.
Here is a problem: I can set up the G3 Beige (running Jaguar) as a file sharing server and very easily connect to it from the a Mac Mini by using top menu Go>Connect to server.
Where i run into what seems to be impossible is to do the same thing from the G3. Nothing seems to establish a connection. It is always rejected with a no connection error message.
Both machines are wirelessly connecting through a router. The mini with internal airport and the G3 beige using an external D-link bridge. Both work fine accessing the internet.
Main reason i wanted to do this is that my Shared Printer is on the Mini and i wanted to print something from the Beige to it.
Can anybody help, or am i attempting the impossible.

DEAR Grant Bennet-Adler: Thank you for your last reply. I'm not sure exactly what i did but I was able to connect. To answer your questions:
IP Addresses are similar. One is ...101 and the other is ...102.
    My router uses DHCP.
What seemed to fix the problem was going to security>firewall on the MINI and checking
    o Allow all incoming messages.
Not sure what ODS Agent.app is but it is highlighted as allow incoming vs blocked.
Both computers "allow personal file sharing"
On the G3 i was able to connect after a bit of trial and error: On the G3, when i "Connect to Server" i am presented with three choices of servers, one of which is the G3 itself--I wish the system wouldn't remember irrelevance.
One of the choices is OK and when i checkit i get the ID and Password Dialog--again for ID i am presented with the MINI's name and not my user (Admin) name.
Change that, type in the password and i am given a list of drives on the folder. That includes any opened from a .img.
After i open one i then see it on my desktop and can get into it.
One slight problem: Once into one, i can;t go back to "go to server" to open more. I get timeouts, error messages and other stuff. I have to start over. That also appears to be to include disconnecting the connection to the G3 server that gets set up on the MINI.
    Regards:
p.s I hven't gotten into Shared Printer although i saw it did show up in the Firewall dialog.I think i have the Canon MP470 Software on the G3 as well as the Mini but i will have to check on it.
p.p.s. Next thing is to try X PostFacto on the G3 again to try to install a later OS; but this time not making the mistakes that totally messed it up the last time, last year, that i tried it.
