File Size Options when emailing

My old blackberry used to give you the handy option of reducing the file size of photos when emailing (small, medium and orignal).  I can't find this option on the Q10 and its not set out in the user guide.  As such, all photos are being emailed at full resolution which is costly from a data perspecitve when off wifi.  Has anyone discovered the trick for reducing flie sizes when emailing or do we need to wait for an op systyem update?  Cheers.

Hey JDSUK,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
My apologies, when attaching a file in BlackBerry Hub it will send it at it's full size.  You can however ZIP a file which will make the file size smaller.  Check out this Blog post for more information: http://helpblog.blackberry.com/2013/06/blackberry-10-working-with-zip-files/
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Cheers.

  • No "size options" when emailing photos

I'm using an iPhone 4, which is about a year or so old. Normally when I email a photo to myself, it gives me the option to resize it as "small", "medium", "large", or "original". This has always worked fine for me, and it's never been a problem.
Today, I tried to email a photo to my gmail and it automatically attached the photo without giving me the resizing option. It just attached the "small" size photo without even giving me a choice?
Why has it suddenly taken that option away from me?
I haven't changed anything on my phone?
I haven't changed any settings or apps?
Any help would be most appreciated as this is frustrating and annoying on a whole new level!

  • Snow Leopard, iPhoto, Mail - loss of image size option when mailing photos

I just installed Snow Leopard on both my laptop and my desktop. Now I have lost one of the size options when I email images directly from iPhoto. This is a big problem for me, as I have the need to send photos out to colleagues for their review several times per week. Before the new OS, I could choose (from within iPhoto or from within Mail) from these options: small, medium, large, and full-size. "Large" was the choice that almost always worked best for me. Now an image is medium-sized no matter whether you choose medium or large. Small and full-size still work.
If I add images to a mail using the photo browser in Mail (which is less convenient for me anyway), then I lose the titles and descriptions I have added to those images in iPhoto. Not good.
Is there a setting I can change, or is this a bug, or what?
    Help.
    Marion

    Ernie,
It's not the the image size buttons are not available. They are. It's that they don't work correctly. From within iPhoto: choosing "small" gives me a small image; choosing "medium" gives me a medium image; choosing "large" also gives me a medium image; choosing "full" gives me a full-size image. So, there are four buttons, but only three sizes. I need large, and it's the one that's not working.
I am currently experimenting with your export-attach suggestion, and the results are very messy indeed as well as inconsistent. If I export an image as .jpeg and as full-size, and then attach them to a mail, the first problem is that I lose all the titles and descriptions, even though I have chosen to export them. In the past, all the images lined up neatly in the body of the message with titles underneath each one; now the images are all "stuck together" and you must mouse over to get the title info. Thus you can see this info for only one image at a time - inconvenient for my colleagues.
The second problem is that, the size option buttons work for some images and not for others. I tried attaching three files of different sizes: 2.7MB, 5.2MB, and 6.2MB. All four size buttons work for the two larger files, but, once again "medium" and "large" choices both result in the same size image, "medium."
Even if the export-attach option worked correctly, it would involve many more steps and much more time than my former method of sending direct from iPhoto.
I have not upgraded to iLife9. Perhaps the problem has been corrected in it. I was holding out for iLife10, but might go ahead with 9 if I could be assured it would work. This is really a huge problem for me.
    Thanks,
    Marion

  • Errors when using "Limit file size to" when exporting images

When I try to use the "limit file size to" option in Export, I often get at least one image that doesn't export, and I get a dialogie box like the image attached here:
As I am exporting in batches, it geats really messy and risky too!I have tried various file size options but that doesn't seem to be a factor.
Any ideas on solving this, or is it an unfixed Lr bug?!
    thanks in advance

I can't reproduce it here, so you could try trashing the preferences file http://members.lightroomqueen.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/1148/198/how-do-i- delete-the-lightroom-preferences-file
If that doesn't do the trick, post it on the Official Feature Request/Bug Report Forum

  • Is there a Maximum file size limit when combining pdf files

I am trying to combine files 8 PDF files created with i Explore using Acrobat XI Standard, the process is completed but when opening the file not all 8 individual files have been combined only the first two have been combined, the process shows all eight being read and combined.
I can open and view each of the original 8 individual files and read the content without any issue, the largest of the eight files is 15,559kb and the smallest is 9,435kb
if anyone can assist that would be most appreciated

    Hi Tayls450,
This should not have happened as there is no maximum file size limit when combining PDFs.
Please let me know if there are some password protected PDFs also?
Also, I would suggest you to choose 'Repair Acrobat Installation' option from the Help menu.

  • Maximum FILE  size option

    Hi Experts,
I know the max file size option on the sender file adapter.
If the file size is greateer then the one specified in the sender channel the channel will go in error.
I just want to know that after going in error will it pick other files as well or  we need to Start/Stop the channel or something else needs to be done

    Hi Sumit,
    > I just want to know that after going in error will it pick other files as well or  we need to Start/Stop the channel or something else needs to be done
I think you have to remove that file in the Queue, then only it will picks the next file.

  • I want to reduce pdf size up to 5mb for mailing perpose, anybody have any option to reduce it since I have used optimiser & reduce file size option but its not helpfull.

I want to reduce pdf size up to 5mb for mailing perpose, anybody have any option to reduce it since I have used optimizer & reduce file size option but its not helpful.

The optimizer can reduce space, but some things can't get smaller. Text for example. Play with the settings, examine the results of Audit Space Usage.
Or give up. Even 5 MB is too large for a bulk mailing, by far. Instead put it on your web site and mail a link - done!

  • Report file size limitation when printing?

Does anyone know of a file size limitation when printing a .NET run Crystal report? We run a browser app, which opens a new browser when a report is printed. That works fine. When we PRINT, the ActiveX print dialog box appears. If the report is large (> 40 pages or so) it crashes our entire application. It works ok if we export to PDF then print, but I am trying to get to the bottom of why it is crashing.

    Hello,
What version of Cr and .NET?
Does your printer have limited memory?
    Is it local printer?
Have you tried installing the latest Drivers for it?
What Browser are you using and have you tried any other?
40 pages not much local memory so it shouldn't be a problem.
Create a new Printer and select File rather than port or LPT as the destination to see if it's a physical printer or network issue.
Try a different printer altogether also.
Also refer to Rule of Engagement posting before submitting your question so you provide as much info first.
    Thank you

  • PDF file size increases when I add a Email Submit button

    Hello,
My PDF form is 87KB.  Once I add a Email submit button the file size jumps to 525KB.  Why?
Reason this confuses me is that it seems to be inconsistent.  I have added this function to other PDF forms and the file size only increased a few KB.   Every now & then adding a button or Javascript will increase the file size.
I have retraced my steps over & over, but I cannot find a answer to why this is happening.
    Thanks for the help everyone!
    -CM

The problem is the font. Use Helvetica instead. When you do, Acrobat/Reader actually use a version of Arial anyway.
When you use one of the non-base-14 fonts (Helvetica, Times, Courier, [and their bold, italic, bold italic variants] Symbol, and Zafp Dingbats) for a form field, Acrobat has to embed the entire font in the file, and some can be rather large. The base-14 fonts are guaranteed to be available for use by the compliant PDF viewer, so there is not need to embed them in the file. A viewer is allowed to substitute suitable replacement fonts, which is what Acrobat/Reader now do.
The problem is you can't simply go back and change the font to Helvetica and see the full size reduction that you'd expect after you do a Save As. This is because Acrobat does not clean up everything as well as you might expect. So what you have to do is go back to a version of the form that does not have the button, or copy & paste the field from the old form to a new PDF that doesn't have any fields, but delete the button first. Then create the button anew.

  • Why is image file size increasing when changed to CMYK?

When converting the colour of a Jpeg to CMYK in Photoshop CS5 the file size is increasing.
The original image is 352KB and after saving as CMYK it is 2.1MB
Why is this happening and how can I stop it?
I'm using a lot of images for a print project so need to keep file sizes small with resolution of 300dpi. The image dimensions are really small, only about 30mm high so they shouldn't be this large a file size
I am using a clipping path but this doesn't seem to be effecting file size (I checked by saving it as RGB with a clipping path which stayed small, and by saving one without a clipping path in CMYK which was huge)
    Thanks

    Two things may be happening:
    1)      you may be making the file pixel dimensions (width and height) larger due to the 300 dpi requirement.
    2)      CMYK files, with 4 colors per pixel, are expected to be larger than JPG files, which are 3 colors per pixel and the data is compressed in a way that throws away information.
You will not get CMYK files anywhere near as small as JPG files, as you are finding.   If there are compression options available when you save the file, perhaps those can make the files smaller.
What pixel dimensions is the original JPG and what pixel dimensions are the CYMK files?

  • File size changing when pass through after effects  (180Mb file goes in and comes out 33GB on export)

im processing a video recorded of an  interview where the lighting was not very good on the interviewee
im brightening up the light on the interviewees face
the file was a 180Mb  H.264 file on import
when i export the file its coming out at 33GB in size.... im not sure why this is
i have chosen the default setting "lossless" as the format for export
i just want the file to export the same size and quality as it was when i imported it
what options should i choose for this?    AE does not seem to tell me how big the end file will be and it takes 1 hour and half to process this 2 minute interview so it will take me an awfull long time to get to the bottom of this if i try by myself
    thanks

It doesn't "increase" the file size. You're making a brand new file.
What you put into After Effects has nothing to do with the resulting file. You can have an AE composition with no footage whatsoever and the resulting file will be much larger than 0!
After Effects works internally with completely uncompressed pixel data, so no matter what you toss into it, it produces whatever you tell it to produce. As Mylenium points out, you made an uncompressed final file.
Your original video file is VERY compressed. So, of COURSE uncompressed video is going to look massive by comparison.
Read Mylenium's link to understand a bit more and go here to learn AE: Getting started with After Effects There are lots of "gotchas" like this that'll bit your butt if you skip this basic training stuff.

  • No file size appears when I save a .pages file

When I save a .pages file there is no file size listed in the directory. In the file directory it says only -- where all the other files have a size in KB or MB listed in that column.
    What's going on here?
The file can be opened without a problem. And when I right click on the listing and choose Get Info, the file size is there in that pop up window -but not in the listing.
I cannot email this file either -because, I guess, it reads the listing as an empty file.
I can convert it to a .doc file and email that, but as a .pages file I get nothing.
    What's going on here?

  • File size wrong when editing in Photoshop

Sometimes when I right click on an image in Lightroom and choose Edit in Photoshop, the resulting file in Photoshop has a size of 72 dpi and usually like around 3" on the long side. The original file is 13 mp so it isn't because the initial file is small. This happens maybe 20% of the time, and I cannot find a pattern to it.
My workaround is to open that image in Bridge, go through ACR and it is then fine in Photoshop.
I am using the Photoshop CS3 beta, but I don't suspect that is the problem.
Anyone else having this issue? Is it something I am inadvertantly doing? Or if it is a known problem is there a fix?

Hmmm. Wonder why these few images would be any different than the ones before/after them? They are all raw files from my 5D, imported by Lightroom from my cf card. And again, I can process the same files I had problems with in Lightroom through Bridge and go into ACR and they are fine that way. Next time it happens, I will email you the CR2 file...thanks. Hopefully you can see something interesting about it!
Is there some place in Lightroom that I can specify what ppi and/or file size to use when I edit in Photoshop? The files (other than these weird ones) are currently coming in at 240 and I'd prefer 300. Just saves me one little step of changing it, but hey every step helps in a workflow!

  • File size increases when I export from iphoto

I was hoping someone could help me.  When I export an event from iphoto it increases in size and is now too big for my dvd.  In iphoto, the size is 5.9 GB, but then when I export (settings as follows:  JPEG - Max. - Full Size ) the file is too big to burn on my DVD-RDL (8.5GB)
It goes from 5.9 to 10.48 GB.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

    Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
    Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
I'm Serious about Back Ups. And you should be too.
My Library lives on my iMac. It’s Backed up to  two external hard disks every day. These disks are permanently attached to the iMac. These back ups run automatically. One is done by Time Machine, one is a bootable back up done by SuperDuper
It’s also backed up to a portable hard disk when ever new photos are added. This hard disk lives in my car. For security, this disk is password protected.
I have a second off-site back up at a relative’s house across town. That’s updated every 3 or 4 months.
My Photos are backed up online. There are many options: Flickr, Picasa, SmugMug etc. However, check the terms of your account carefully. While most sites have free uploading, you will often find that these uploads are limited in terms of the file size or the bandwidth you can use per month. For access that allows you to upload full size pics with no restrictions you may need to pay.
Every couple of months I test the back ups to make sure they are working correctly. It’s very easy to mis-configure a back up application, and the only way to protect against that is to do a trial restore.

  • Why No File Size Option?

I'm probably missing something here but why is Lightroom unable to show me the size of my files as every other program, including Bridge, does?

    Dorin:
I'd agree that file size is not the most important property of a photo file; however, it is important for this photographer. I'm sure we'd both get a number of arguments over just what is 'thee' most important property!! I'd bet it would vary from one photography to the next and would depend on what one is doing with those files at that moment.
Precisely because it is a 'library', it should have all available properties available for viewing.
It's certainly more important and useful than "megapixels". When comparing the same file with different file sizes, it would be very handy to have it appear in the grid view as one of the view options, rather than having to wonder over to the Metadata panel.
