File System Location properties: view path (OWB 11..2.0.1 Windows)

Newbee question:
From the tutorial "Handling Flat File and COBOL Copybook Sources in Mappings", I imported the metadata for ETL_OWNER. It contains file locations such as SRC_FLAT_FILES_LOCATION but I cannot find any way to view its path in the file system. I created my own file locations where I can specify a path in the Create File System Location wizard, but afterwards, I can neither inspect nor change the path.
Thanks for help
Sebastian

Thank's for help, I am simply not used to the user interface. The Connections Explorer seems to have disappeared in 11gR2 but the Locations node still exists, listing all file locations. However, the property inspector does not display the file's path, somewhat counterintuitively. Double-klicking the file location opens the Edit window containing the path.

• Unable to create File System Repository using Network Path

Hi All,
I am trying to create a File System Repository.
I created a networkpath and windows system and used the same while creating File Repository according to the steps in help.
With out using Networkpath(i.e.,If I use IP address,I am able to create File System Repository).
But with the network path,it throws the following error as seen in Component Monitor.
Startup Error: The localroot does not exist: C:\usr\sap\IGTE\j2ee\j2ee_00\cluster\server\NWP_001
My network path is NWP_001

Did any one face this problem?
Any help please........
Rgds,
Santhosh

Hi,
I am getting the same error even if I replace(\) by slashes(/).
I tried on EP6SP12 as well as EP6SP2 and got the same error on both.
The repository is searching for a folder named with
n/w path on the portal server itself(i.e, it is searching in the following folder
C:\usr\sap\IGTE\j2ee\j2ee_00\cluster\server\NWP_001
My network path is NWP_001),instead of searching on the remote system.
Can any one help me in solving the problem
Thanks in Advance.

• Credential map file system location

Hello Every one,
Could you please tell me where UCM 11g credential maps are located? in File system or Database .
If it is file system, please let me know the location of the credential map.
What is the standard way to migrate credential map from one instance other instance (CMU doesn't have any option to make a bundle of credential map).
Thank you in advance

Hi,
Navigate to <domain_home>/ucm/cs/data/users/connections and here the following file is present :
ConnectionsSecurityData.hda
This holds all the details for Credential Maps .
It would be easier to put this file to the target server location and use it there.
Hoe this helps .
Thanks,

• File System Repository - using DFS path

Hi, I want to integrate a windows share through a DFS (distributed file system) path. I only found this thread about DFS support where Marcel Rabe says that they have connected KM to a Microsoft based DFS.
Has anybody else managed to use a windows share through a dfs path?
I've created a network path where I have configured the dfs path with the correct user and password. I've provided the domain for the user like this:
domain\username
Then I've created a File System Repository where I have defined the same dfs path as Root directory. I use AclSecurityManager but I've also tried to change it to "not set".
The Component Monitor shows the following error:
Startup Error: getting mapped math - Access is denied
But I know that the username and password are correct.
Any ideas?

Hi Marcel,
that's exactly the problem we are experiencing with the same setup and same error-message.
Did you manage to resolve the problem? I'm gratefull for any hint.
Regards,
Alexander

• CONFIGURATION PROPERTIES VIEW ON OWB

Hi people, we want to know if there is some view or table on OWB Repository where we can see the values of the Configuration Properties dialog for each mapping.
Otherwise we have to open OWB client, expand the mappings tree and open the Dialog for each mapping.
Our OWB version is 10g R1 10.1.0.1.
Thanks in advance for your help.
JESUS B.H.
Lima, Perú

I'm not sure about a view or table but there are a useful set of experts for working with configuration values. Look in the Utilities, Tips & Tricks Exchange link on the OWB OTN page and search for Expert. It is listed for 10GR2 so I'm not sure if it works on your version. It uses OMB scripting though, so you could look at that to get the configuration properties.

• How to display a file system in tree view

Hi all,
I Developed an application (APEX 3.2) to track incoming and outging mail. Incoming mail is scaned and saved on "ARCHIVE" server directory structure as the following
Incoming**2011*
** 1
**2
**3
**4
2011 is the year and numbers from 1 - 4 are letters ID. I have no problem to link the incoming mail with the image on file server (each letter must have an image)
Some letters may have attachmentms (different format pdf, word, jpg, etc.)
attachment*2011

I would like to enable attachment link only for for letters with attachment in above case letter 2 and 4 and the directory where the attachment saved to be displayed in TREE view.

• DMS data save in File system location

Dear Expert,
Can you please provide detailed analysis how to store files in filesystem , presently data are stored in database now I want to attached document are saved in filesystem location.
Please help us.
Regards Sanjay.

Hi Christian,
If you look at the Quickview in Basis mode, there are some output options under "Export as". One of these may help.
When you run the quickview the selection screen should give you a range of output options - I had hoped that you might be able to choose to write to a SAP file from there, although I think it may be limited to local (PC) files only, which I don't think is what you want.
As an alternative, how about looking at the database backup utilities?
I would think your basis people should be able to help you set up a single-table backup. Would that satisfy the requirement?
Hope this is some help to you,
Best Regards

• File System repository error in component monitor

Hi,
I created a file system repository in our portal server which will connect to windows file system and display the folder structure.
I created a File system repository manager with the following properties mentioned below
Prefix (must start with /): /FMICDelaers
Lookup mode: caseless
Root Directory:
fendercorp\FMICDelaers
Repository Services:
Property Search Manager:
Security Manager: W2kSecurityManager
ACL Manager Cache:ca_rsrc_acl
Windows Landscape System: B2B_Windows
I have given full acees to everyone for FMICDealers folder on fendercorp server.
We have created a networkpath called B2B_windows as mentioned below
jCIFS Protocol: yes
Description:
Network Path:
fendercorp\FMICDelaers
Password:xxxxx
User: insidefender\ssayneni
When i am checking the repository in component monitor i am getting the below error
Startup Error: The localroot does not exist: /usr/sap/EPD/JC61/j2ee/cluster/server0/
fendercorp\FMICDealers
Thanks

Hi
A general recommendation would be to use small letters in all ID's regardring network drives, repositories etc. See https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/002fb447-d670-2910-67a5-bfbbf0bb287d for advice on how to optimize performance of KM.
Other than that, you could check the documentation mentioned here:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/message?messageID=6398301#6398301
It seems as the root directory in your File System Repository Manager is not defined correctly. It should be forward slash instead of backslash.
Go through the settings again and see if the startup error changes or disappears. The startup error indecated that it is a configuration error.
Best regards,
Martin Søgaard

Hi,
There is a workaround:
Wait until you get to the point where you select the task sequence
Hit “F8” to open the command prompt
Type “diskpart” and hit return
Type “select disk 0” and hit return
Type “list volume” and see if the CD/DVD drive has a drive letter of C:\ or D:\. If it does move to step 6, otherwise close the command prompt and begin the staging otherwise.
Type “select volume X” (where X is the volume number of the CD/DVD drive) and hit return
Type “assign letter=e” and hit return (if the E:\ is already taken up use the next available letter)
Type “list volume” and hit return to ensure the new drive letter is active
Close down the command prompt and begin staging

• How to create a folder in the file system?

Hi All,
How to create a normal folder in my PC's file system in a specific path?

Host just passes commands to the OS; the simplest way to try would be playing a little bit around in the shell to figure out what's not working...
C:\>dir "I am"*
Volume in drive C is System
Volume Serial Number is 5C03-B54D
Directory of C:\
File Not Found
C:\>cmd /c mkdir "c:\I am a directory"
C:\>dir "I am"*
Volume in drive C is System
Volume Serial Number is 5C03-B54D
Directory of C:\
09/21/2010 02:38 AM <DIR> I am a directory
0 File(s) 0 bytes
1 Dir(s) 509,628,416 bytes free
C:\>cmd /c mkdir "c:\I am a directory"
A subdirectory or file c:\I am a directory already exists.
C:\>or with the host built-in
host('cmd /c mkdir "'||full_path||'"');But first you should check if the directory already exists as mkdir will throw an error if it exists as you can see.
cheers

I had an idea that it could be because of the Serverlet Engine User, which is set up due to documentation, but is only a local user not a domain user. I don't know to which extent this user is important for FS Mount Service. I thought, that for connecting to a remote share, there is only important the user and password set up in Network Path settings in CM.
Changing the user on which is EP running is quite a difficult step due to our security policies and so on. So I would rather not experiment with this until I try all the other possibilities.
Could you, please, give me some advice?

Hi Jiri,
have you used double forward slashes in your network path? Please try: //10.80.1.55/Test_portal
You can also test from the portal machine that you can mount the drive via command shell:
"net use t:
10.80.1.55\Test_portal /user:DOMAIN\USER"
(make sure you specify the user with domain)
Hope this helps,
Robert

• HT3802 "The system cannot find the path specified."

When I type in the command, the response I get is: "The system cannot find the path specified."
I just installed Windows 7 with bootcamp but cannot access the Windows Support software now. When I reboot, it boots in Windows. I want Lion to boot to but its failing. I have a MacBook Pro and just checked for updates and everything was up to date before I started the install.
Any ideas? I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Any idea what Mac OS your using or what year/model MbPro you have? 10.6 or 10.7?
The Windows support files are installed while booted in Windows, they are Apple hardware drivers for Windows to use. Just insert the DVD, USB drive or whatever you have or made while in Windows and it should just start the install, if not then you can open the file and click on the setup.exe and do it manually.
When everything is working right there will be a Boot Camp control panel in WIndows to select the Mac OS to boot to when your done. On the Mac side there will be an option in the System Preferences/ Start up disk to select the Windows partition.
Press and hold the Option key after it reboots and it should take you to the boot screen with either OS icons showing.

Hi.
I need to get the file system historical information for a year. I need to be able to say how in the past year such and such a file system has increased in space etc.

Trouble is, this bview is more visual than statistical. I need hard figures!
Is this the right way? Should I try another approach? This must be a common request?

Thank you.

Querying the tables/views inside OEM Grid Control (GC) Repository - the database - may help. By default, GC stores information into tables owned by SYSMAN and aggregates the information on a pre-defined schedule, like first week, first month, first year, etc depends on the definition. So you might not find some details of the historical information.
Try mgmt$metric_daily to get the numbers. You would need target_guid from mgmt$target to pinpoint the server.
Not sure 100% all details you are looking for, which will determine the metrics to query. But anyway here is a simple example. Hope it helps. The Oracle documentation has more details.
SELECT metric_name,metric_column,
TO_DATE(TO_CHAR(rollup_timestamp,'YYYY-MM-DD'), 'YYYY-MM-DD') AS month_timestamp,
maximum value
FROM mgmt$metric_daily
WHERE target_guid='......'
AND metric_label = 'Storage Summary'
AND metric_column = 'local_fs_used'
