File Transfer from mac to PC... help?
I am trying to transfer files from my G4 OSX 10.2 to a pc windows 7. They are mostly Jpg images and some word & excel docs. Do I need conversion software or just copy over via my usb? Thanks
Simply copy the files on a windows formatted (FAT32) usb stick from mac to pc. If you have office installed on your pc it works like a charm.

I have had the new airport extreme base station for 4 days now, and I have yet to see speeds over 1mbps. I have tried almost every channel on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Both my Mac Pro and Macbook Pro(just got that too) are 802.11n-enabled. They are on the same network with one airport base station, and I have a transmit rate of around 114-130, and an RSSI rate of -59 to -79 on almost every channel. When transferring a file from one mac to another, the transfer rate starts out at about 1mbps, and then fluctuates from .5-1mbps, and then eventually slows to a halt and never finishes.
I have a cordless phone that operates at 5.8GHz, so I am using 2.4GHz on the airport. I don't know what else to do...this is not operating according to specs at all. I am reading that people are getting up to 16mbps...and I have not gotten anywhere near that. Can anyone help? What could be wrong?In situations like this it really is a case of taking it back to basics and testing different things to rule out possible causes.
First thing I would try is check around your property for any other wireless devices that may conflict with the AEBS.
Is your AEBS in a different room to the MP and MBP?
Also I would try the transfer test again on the N side but this time unplug your 5.8GHz phone from both the telephone socket and power to see if speed increases.
What about your neighbours, do they have wireless phones or Wireless networks in use that could maybe conflict with yours? If they have a network, find out what channel it's using and configure your AEBS to use a frequency 3-4 channels away from your neighbours.
One more possible reason for bad wireless network performance could be a bad electrical power supply in your home. I read a report about an ADSL customer in the UK being supplied with a brand new Flat Screen TV because the power supply in his old one knocked out his ADSL connection and those of his neigbours in a radius of 200m from his home.
One last thing, I take it transfer speeds via ethernet are fine? This is purely just a problem with the wireless speeds?

Getting error in file transfer from one system to another system

One of my client (User) wants to transfer his file from SAP R/3 System SAP XI system. He is using a customize t-code ZFIR0325 (Trial balance report transfer to Hyperian System). When user execute the program he is getting error "File Transfer Failed due to Network chk with Admin"
I checked with Network team but they said it is okay from their side. We also check for authorization but there is no issue regarding authorization.
Name of File Path of Aplication Server, XI destinaion and XI directory entered by user is correct.
We also put authorization trace in XI System to RFC User (In file transfer from one system to another system this RFC User is geeing Used) but no authorization issue was found.

Firstly, no one in the community can answer on how a custom transcation code and a program associated with it behaves.
If there are no authorization issues in the system, you have to look at the exact error message. Look if your XI system is allowed to receive files from the SAP system.
Unfortunately, you should do some more home work before putting your question here. If everything is fine and configured correctly, then the issue might be with the program.

How can I use ODI to do file transfer from one system to another system ?
Do I need to create Models or I have to simply use Jython procedure/script to do the same ? Kindly help. I have done DB to DB using Knowledge Modules. But I am not able to understand this piece.

You can not do file transformation directly in ODI like we do in any other ETL tool like data stage or Ab Initio.. File transformation in ODI can be done using staging database in an interface(i.e ELT way).
Create source and target data stores for the file to be transformed. Create an interface using File to SQL LKM to load the file into staging database and then use SQL to File Integration knowledge module.

Converting file names from Mac to Windows.
I am an Apple tech at a university that uses both PCs and Macs. We have found that we run into some problems when transferring a user's data from one platform to the other.
When transferring lots of files, what do you experienced Mac techs use for safely converting file names from Mac to Windows?

We've tried NameCleaner and ended up with bad results.
Please let me know if there is something good out there for these conversions.

1. User wants to switch from Mac to Windows.
2. We back up the data from his Mac to a server (an X-Serve RAID).
3. We log into the server from Windows.
4. We try to pull his data from the server.
During this data transfer, it quits with an error stating that it can't finish copying the data. I wish I had the exact text, but I don't. It does this repeatedly, and stops on different files from different locations.
In essence, without "cleaning" the Mac file names, data transfer to Windows cannot successfully complete. It quits on certain Mac file names. In the past, NameCleaner has worked sometimes, but now we have had some issues with NameCleaner (which don't matter in this discussion). The goal is to find a better solution than NameCleaner. -

You can export your contacts - go to the Contacts page at icloud.com (use computer's browser), click the top contact to select it then shift-click the bottom one to select all. Click the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'. -

About to buy G5 20" this week -
Apple Store says they can do file transfer from my imac G4 to new G5 for me at time of purchase, but cannot transfer any 3rd party apps (Photoshop, Ill, DreamW, Acrobat, Word, etc.). However in users manual it looks like if I do it originally myself with SetUp assistant, I can include these apps -- but perhaps not later using Migration Assistant after Apple Store has used the SetUp assistant. I'd like to avoid having to re-install all my apps if possible.
Also, If I do it SetUp Assistant myself, is it best to use Firewire cable vs. Ethernet?
Any intelligence/advice would be appreciated.

Need assistance regarding setting up an ipod touch that I recently purchased. The device was purchased from an individual that used a Mac for syncing. I will be using a Windows PC. How do I go get the ipod to recognize the PC now? Also, the person I purchased the device from has a load of good music and movies loaded. Is there any way I can copy these first (onto my hard-drive) before syncing with my PC (I am afraid that I PC would delete everything that is currently stored on the ipod as I may need to reset it). If not possible to copy the files onto my PC first, could I possibly copy on any other Mac?

Slow file transfer from pc to mac
I've got two windows xp home pcs and two macs (a mac mini and an ibook). The windows PCs are connected to the wired network and both macs are wireless.
When I try to initiate a file transfer on either pc to either mac, the file transfer is really slow (slower than I think it should be). It's very annoying.
Does anyone have any idea what causes this and how to fix it? Thanks.I've got some more information: when Windows NT initiates a file transfer to the mac using windows file sharing, the transfer speed is fast. It's XP that has the problem. Is this a windows XP problem or a Mac OS X problem? Last time I checked, the macs were both able to communicate with each other just fine.
Ok, here's the transfer speeds approx: a 100mb file is normally quickly transferred in about a minute. When the windows xp machine tries to send to the mac, the transfer will take many times longer to complete.
Can anyone help with this problem? Anyone at all? Please? I'm annoyed about this issue.

I am planning on switching to a MAC from windows. I was going to use an external hard drive to move my files from my pc but noted that the external must be formatted for MAC use. How can accomplish file transfer without difficulty?
Transferring via a Windows formatted hard drive is a good method. You might also take a look at the Windows Migration Assistant.
