FILE TRANSFER RATE SLOW FROM WIN SERVER 2012.

Dear Team
The File Transfer problem From my Windows Server 2012R2 (File server) showing 200KB transer rate in 1g network. Please help

Hi,
What's the operation system are you using, Windows XP/2003 or Windows 7/8/2008/2012?
You can test to disable SMB2/3 and see if issue is related:
Set-SmbServerConfiguration -EnableSMB2Protocol $false
See:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2696547/en-us
Note: This is just for testing and you can enable it after testing.
If it is SMB related, try to disable the TCP Chimney Offload, Receive Side Scaling and Network Direct Memory Access features.
Information about the TCP Chimney Offload, Receive Side Scaling, and Network Direct Memory Access features in Windows Server 2008
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951037
Here are the steps to disable RSS, TCP Chimney Offload and NetDMA:
netsh int tcp set global rss=disabled
netsh int tcp set global chimney=disabled
In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters, double-click the EnableTCPA registry entry.
Note: If this registry entry does not exist, right-click Parameters, point to New, click DWORD Value, type EnableTCPA, and then press ENTER.
To disable NetDMA, type 0 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
Let us know if issue still exists.
Meanwhile we have an Forum FAQ article which provided some suggestions and quick-fixes for network slowness issue. Please see if it could help:

Yes it is possible but database size should not be greater than 10 G as max databse size supported for Express 2012 is 10 G

If the destination folder is shared and can be accessed via SAP, then you can use FM EPS_FTP_PUT.

  • How to achieve the maximum file transfer rate from PXI to local host?

I will have to copy a huge amount of data (as big as 50 GB) from a PXI-8106 unit on site to a laptop. Currently it would take several hours. It is critical to max out the data transfer rate.
The standard method we've been using is just drag and drop using Windows Explorer via FTP. I tried to use FTP VIs with Filezilla Server as well but the transfer rate is only like 1.5 MB/s. Is this normal? Once I saw it was 3.0 MB/s but for some reason, that isn't happening now.
For another option, I tried to transfer data to a USB flash drive but it's even slower. As far as I know, USB 2.0 transfer rate is supposed to be around 60 MB/s but why would it be slower than 1.5 MB/s? What could be the speed limiting factor in my file transfer setup?
Any tips on improving file transfer rate would be appreciated!

Sustained 40 MB/s? That is my dream speed! The maximum speed I've ever seen here was about 25 MB/s, which is still very good, and that happened only after copying back and forth, which I explained above. Let me go through what I did with screencaps first.
These are the test tdms files to transfer in the PXI: an original file witten in the PXI and its copy file. I copied the original file from PXI to laptop and renamed it (added '_copy') and then copied it back to PXI.
FTP module is transferring the original file to the Filezilla server on laptop. Note the low speed.
FTP module is transferring the copy file to the Filezilla server on laptop. Note the higher speed.
This is the FTP sub VI I'm using. It transfers files in sub-folders (one level lower), too. The data connection is set to 'passive' on the FTP Put Multiple Files VI but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I attach the sub VI.
You tried the file transfer with a 500 MB text file. Would there be any difference if the file type was tdms? Would the RAM size matter? It is 2GB here.
And the LED is orange, which means Gigabit.
Another question: Is there any way to programmatically stop file transfer in progress? Currently, I just have to restart the PXI.
    Thank you!

  • How to uninstall win server 2012 R2 (OS) from computer altogether?

Hi guys, I am trying to remove/ format my hdd that holds my OS which is currently Windows Server 2012 R2. I am having a tough time at it. Are there any suggestions?

Hi, we have a Win server 2012 R2 (Standard edition, running on a HP Proliant ML350 Gen9), running Active Directory. This machine is also a fileserver. Our files are mostly Word and Excel. We are a carpenter company and many of our carpenters work on customer sites. They often have slow internett connections (mobile broadband). They need to access and update the files on our server. So my question is - what would be the best way to set this up? The connection should of course be secure. It should also be easy to use.
My thoughts so far is: DirectAccess? The VPN on our ZyWall 110 firewall/router? WebDAV?

    Hi,
Can you ping normally to other server from your server 2012 R2?
Does user has enough permission for remoting?
Can you telnet port 3389 and see whether RDP port is opened?
Please try to perform remote desktop with “mstsc /admin” switch and check the result. Addition try to perform the remote session with IP address specified for that server. Also you can try PowerShell command to enable remote desktop.

  • How to Migrate Win Server 2008 to Win Server 2012 if PDC server no longer exist?

With this being Foundation (less than 15 users) with some problems already, it might be smarter to just start the new server fresh.

I took over a small business company's network infratructure with Server 2008 Foundation and I would like to migrate to a new Windows Server 2012 r2.The Server 2008 Foundation is a DC with AD / DHCP / DNS / File & Print Server roles. I would like to transfer these roles to the new server with Win Server 2012 r2 std OS. My plan is to join the new server to the old DC, promote it as DC, and transfer roles to it, demote old server and power off. However, there was an older server (Windows 2003) which is no longer in the office and it was the current operations master. The server 2003 was the PDC. When I open AD Domains and Trusts I get this error:"You cannot modify domain or trust info because a PDC emulator cannot be contacted.."Maybe the FSMO roles wasn't transferred over from 2003 to 2008 properly? • How can I create a Pooled VDI infraestructure using Win server 2012 as VM image?

    Hello
I have followed the "usual" way to build a pooled VDI desktop using Win7 or Win8 with success, but it fails when I use an image of Win Server 2012 as VM instead.
Am I overlooking something?  Should I need to prepare the image in a different way? (Sysprep differently?)
    Thanks

    Dear Ryan
I think the point is other than committing a breach of licensing.  I have a legitimate need to use a pooled server system, which incidentally is not going to be end user.
The "economy" of the proposed structure can make a more efficient use of the equipment.
This is an excerpt of the MS VDI Q&A:
Do I need to pay for Windows VDA if I use Windows Server as a client operating system in my virtual machine?
    OR
I’ve heard that I can avoid paying for Windows VDA by using Windows Server as my VDI desktop OS. Is this true?
    Running a Windows Server®
OS as the desktop in the datacenter does not require Windows VDA, but there are many reasons why a server OS should not be used as a desktop, especially in the datacenter:
The user experience with servers as the desktop is very different from using a Windows client.
Many applications for end users were written for a client OS and not a server OS. Each of your applications would need to be retested to ensure compatibility with a server OS. Additionally, most vendors
do not offer support for client applications running on servers.
Clients and servers are on different patch cycles, adding to management complexity.
Most of the VDI ecosystem will support the Windows client in the datacenter, not server OS’s.
However, if you do decide to run a server OS as the desktop, please note that you will need to pay a Remote Desktop Services Client Access License (RDS-CAL) to correctly license that scenario.

  • SYSTEM WRITER MISSING WIN SERVER 2012

    Hi,
I have installed win server 2012. On that server i have sql 2012 and sharepoint 2013. After a while my windows server backup stops working and system writer is missing now. I found that problem might be in subfolders in MICROSOFT.NET folder. It has more
than 1000 subfolders in GAC_MSIL folder. Is this really true that system writer can't enumerate more than 1000 folders and that I cant have sharepoint 2013 and sql server 2012 installed on same server. Is there a solution which can fix this or I can have all
    of that on one server?
Hope that someone can help with this.

It seems to be a known issue, some other Technet forum users have experienced the same problem.
Check this post and see the solution.
Missing VSS System Writer and CAPI2 error in Event Log
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverfiles/thread/4458947a-623e-45c1-b8e4-868aad1e93b0
I've got this problem about a month ago. I refer to MSP.
The problem was caused due to stack full. When we list system writer using “vssadmin list writers”, it will go through all the system files. To do that, the OS use a  search algorithm with a stack which has a size limitation of 1000. When the stack
was full, it failed to continue listing files and log an event in the application event log.
In my case, the following folder contains too many subdirectory and caused the problem.
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework64\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\*
    1. Open C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\CONFIG\Web.config
    2. Add tempDirectory attribute to compilation tag. For example:
    < compilation tempDirectory="c:\ASPTEMP">
And also grant the folder with the same privilege with as “C:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework64\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files”.
    3. Restart the IIS Service.
    4. Backup and delete all files under “C:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework64\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files”.
    5. restart the Cryptographic Service.
    6. Try “vssadmin list writers” again.
Hopes this brings idea for you to solve it.

    Hi jsibeko,
Since the VMware offer the MSCS shared storage solution themselves, I suggest you first ask VMware whether that shared storage is supported with your vSphere edition, I found

  • Windows 7 network file transfer absurdly slow

I know there are plenty of other posts about slow network file transfer. Here, elsewhere, I can't say I read them all but most are referring to slow down to 1MB/s.
    I am getting <20KB/s.
If I transfer a very small file (less than 100KB) it would start quickly then slow down to <20KB/s. all subsequently network file transfer would be slow, a reboot is needed to reset this. If I transfer a large file it would be stuck on calculating for
a long time and then begin with <20KB/s immediately.
This is a fairly newly built desktop. Realtek gigabit on-board LAN of ASRock Extreme3 gen3. I have tested network file transfer to and from a Windows 7 laptop and a MacBook Pro, so I am fairly certain it is the desktop's problem. The slow speed only happens
with one direction, outbound from the desktop, regardless of whether I initiate the file transfer action from the origin or the destination. Inbound network file transfer and internet speeds are fine, so I don't think this is a hardware issue.
Remote Differential Compression is off. Drivers are up-to-date from ASRock's website. I am getting 74.8MB/s internet upload speed from speedtest.net (http://www.speedtest.net/result/1852752479.png). Inbound network file transfer I can get around 10-15MB/s.
I looked everywhere and can't find symptoms that fits my case well. I'd be cheering if I can get 1MB/s. Well, maybe not, but at this point it is more efficient for me to upload everything to the Internet and download them again than to use local file transfer,
    which is just absurd.
I am hoping this community has some insight for me to troubleshoot this. I don't see anything obviously related from the Event Viewer, and beyond that I just don't know where else to look.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

    Hi,
Firstly, would you please try again to install the HotFix instead of disabling TCPAuto-Tuning and Windows Scaling heuristics via netsh manually.
If issue persists, please try following:
    1. Test the issue in Safe Mode with Networking.
    2. Disable "Large Send Offload".
    How to:
    1) Open an elevated command prompt and press Enter:
netsh int ip set global taskoffload=disabled.
    2) Disable and re-enable the network interface or reboot your system.
    3) Run the following command in an elevated command prompt to confirm the command above is successful:
    netsh int ip show offload
    3. Check the value of “Speed & Duplex” is Auto in Advanced Properties of the NIC. If not, please let us know your value.
    4. Check if “Flow Control” is disabled in Advanced Properties of your NIC.
    5. Go to your Start Menu, search for “Local Security Policy“ and run it as administrator. Under Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options.
    1) Open “Network security:Minimum session security for NTLM SSP (including RPC based) Clients”,
unselect “Require NTLMv2 session security” and “Require 128-bit encryption”.
    2) Do the same operation to “Network security:Minimum session security for NTLM SSP (including RPC based) Servers”.
    3) Open
the policy “Network Security LAN Manager authentication level“. Locate and select the option “Send LM & NTLM – use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated“. Click Apply, and close out of all
    policy management windows.
    Hope this helps.
