File transfer SD card Panasonic AG-HMC-150 to Final Cut 6

when trying to upload SD card or hard drive files from my Panasonic AG-HMC-150 to Final Cut 6
I get this error
"PRIVATE" has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches the supported media.
Is there a setting in Final Cut 6 log and transfer or somewhere to recognize these files. I know two other people transferring files from this camera with no problem either from SD card or hard drive file.
I have tried files from another Panasonic 150 camera and get the same error.

What version of Final Cut 6 are you running?

I have not bought the camera yet so I cannot try. I have heard that the footage is not suppose to be supported that easily since it is 28 MBS "Avchd?" format. However people seem to be able to edit it in Imovie....

  • Can I transfer a project from the trial version of Final Cut Pro X to the Full version

Can I transfer a project from the trial version of Final Cut Pro X to the Full version which I have now downloaded.

The trial version is named "Final Cut Pro Trial" and the App Store version is called "Final Cut Pro".
So, they can both be in the Applications folder at the same time, but only one can be open/launched at a time.
If, for some reason, your trial is older (like version 10.0.4) that your newly purchased FCPX (should be 10.0.5), and you do not click Update to your events/Projects, they will NOT show in the bought version!
Open the licensed FCPX and make sure it does update your things, in case it asks for it!

  • What kind of graphics card should i get to run final cut pro x on my 2008 mac pro?

What kind of graphics card should i get to run final cut pro x on my 2008 mac pro?

Hello Andres. I own an Early Mac Pro 2008, and have had the blessing of using both FCP X & Motion 5 for some time now. This is a pritty open question and it depends on your usage and the throughput nessesary to handle your work load. I can share what my set up is, & it may help you deside if this is enough power for you or help you move in another direction. Keep in mind that the buss speed and cpu are a big part of helping FCP X more so than the video card, although the video card does come into play here as well. Now if you are wanting to run Motion 5 as well, the video card is Almost Everything, and you need the biggest and best situation here that the throughput on this system will except. I'm running 14 gig of system ram, and the video card is an ATI Radeon 5870. For FCP X, running 1920x1280p footage optimised in pro-res 422, she can move along with some render time nessesary when dropping on the timeline, also filters, transistions, titles ex, have a bit of a laps time to render, but then she runs ok. This wait is not as much of a challenge with this set up as with Motion. I need a much bigger gpu on the video card for this app. Not sure if this computers throughput is really worth the upgrade. Beleive this though, Motion is demanding on using ALL you can give it. It is a Genious App, and it also calls for ALL THE POWER YOU CAN GIVE HER IN A VIDEO CARD. Conclution: if you are just starting which it sounds like, even a smaller video card than this can work For FCP X. Make sure you have at least 8 gig of cpu ram. 12 or more will help here. Also make sure the card is OpenCL compadible.....& this is in the thread above,,,,,,,,

  • Panasonic HMC 151 crashing Final Cut Express HD 4.0

    Hey,
I have just upgraded my video camera from a Panasonic AG HMC 40 (which worked perfectly with FCE) to a Panasonic AG HMC151.
Unfortunately every time I try to import footage [through 'Log & Transfer'] Final Cut Express crashes.
Does anyone know why this is happening and more importantly, is there any way I can resolve the problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Killian

The HMC151 shoots in AVCCAM, a subset of AVCHD which I don't believe is supported by FCE. You'll need Final Cut Pro to ingest this footage. I'm actually surprised you said the HMC40 worked with FCE since it's also an AVCCAM.
Edit: According to Panasonic it's compatible, and you can find more information [here|ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/panasonic/Drivers/PBTS/papers/Editing%20AVCHD %20with%20FC%20Express%204.pdf].

  • Transfer AVCHD footage shot in SD standard into Final Cut

Shoot a performance with Sony Camera AVCHD in SD instead of HD. Unfortunately I will not be able to re-shoot this event. How can I use the footage in Final Cut. I shot in SD cus I use another Sony tape based camera, shooting in 1080i and capture to Final Cut at DV standard. I read somewhere that I should not mix HD and SD and that was why I set the avchd format camera to record in SD. What do I need to do. I have the latest version of Final Cut. Need help desperately.
    Thanks

First, the FCP version I am using is 5.1.4.
Ouch. That's going to be a problem as "Log and Transfer", being FCP's interface for handling modern camera native tapeless media formats was only introduced and included with the FCP version 6 and later releases.
The exact message I get when I drag the clip to mpeg stream is "File Open Error. Unsupported file type"
Indeed, as with QuickTime, this AVCHD format is not natively recognized.
If you are working on a FCP 5.1.4 system then you're going to need a third party transcoding tool to convert this footage to a suitable edit format for your system (such as Apple Intermediate Codec aka AIC). Do you have Roxio Toast 10 or later? That has the capability to quickly transcode to any codec in your system. Another transcoding option is dedicated app like VoltaicHD. Or a favorite for many is a rewraping solution like ClipWrap 2 which manipulates only the container format in order to make the files readable on your system.

  • Unable to capture from the Panasonic AJ-HD1400 deck into Final Cut

I am working on a project where I need to use the Panasonic AJ-HD1400 deck and import 720p footage from the Vericam into final cut. I am able to connect to the deck via firewire but when I playback footage or try to capture I get a black screen and error message saying that FCP isn't getting a video signal.
I have tried multiple capture and sequence settings, none of which have worked. The one I have read that I am suppose to use is the easy set up for DVCPRO HD 720p24.
The footage is shot from the Panasonic Vericam which shoots at 60 fps. The footage has been flagged both 24p and 60p during different takes. - Which I have read you are suppose to convert using the DVC PRO HD Frame Rate Converter after it has been imported.
Anyone out there know how to solve this issue,
    -Steller

  • What acp card do I need to operate Final Cut Express?

I recently installed Final Cut Express and got a message that it cannot work without and ACP card. Which one and where can I buy it?

I should add that with the release of FInal Cut Pro X, both Final Cut Express & Final Cut Studio have been removed from the Apple store & authorized resellers.  So there's actually no upgrade to FCE 4 available any more unless you can find a copy that may still be in some store's inventory somewhere, or perhaps on eBay.  For example, B&H still seem to have it available, for $79.95 - but that could disappear any time.  (On the B&H website, search for "Final Cut Express" then scroll through the list to find the upgrade package.

  • How to put on the files of the camera Sony Avchd hdr-td10 for Final Cut Pro 6.0.6?

Sorry for my English, I am French. I would like to know if the camera Sony Avchd hdr-td10 is compatible with Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 to List and Transferer and if it is necessary to install a particular codec? This camera makes of the 3D but I specify that my rushes are in 2D. Thank you in advance.

Read this. (Also available in French from the "Aide" menu bar item)
If the files are not recognized because Sony made some changes to the AVCHD format, MPEG Streamclip (free) might be able to help. Clipwrap ($50) will definitely work.

  • Audio files are there, but there is no sound.  Final Cut v1.0.1

I have been working on a project in Final cut express v1.0.1 for a few days. At first, there were no problems with audio, then I tried to open the file on a friends machine using final cut 2 (my final cut program and scratch disc are on an external drive). I was prompted to update my project so it would be FC2 compatible and I chose not to. We were not able to view the project on my friend's machine. When I try to play the project now, there is no sound even though all audio files are in place.
It might be worthwhile to note that before trying to view the project on my friend's machine I created a "final cut movie file" which will play with audio on either machine in Quicktime but not in Final cut.
Any help or advice about what I should do to fix this would be much apreciated, Thanks.

Thank you for the response but unfortunately it did not resolve my problem, View>Video is set to real time and not firewire (the options are greyed out and cant be selected but there is a check by "Real Time" regardless)
Still unable to get sound, thanks for the attempt.

  • Can i use pro res files in iMovie even though i don't have Final Cut Pro?

    Hello,
I'm expecting some film footage to be delivered to me thats being delivered in a Pro Res format. Since my request to the company I've realised that it seems that I might not be able to import the Pro Res files into iMovie on my iMac if I don't have Final Cut Pro (FCP) installed. Is this correct? If so, is there a simple way I can import the format without having to go to the expense of buying FCP?
    Thanks
    Steven

    Hey Henmans,
Thanks for the question. Apple ProRes is a format developed for high-quality, high-performance editing in Final Cut Pro X. To gain access to this codec, you’ll want to purchase Final Cut Pro X or a licensed third-party product:
Apple ProRes Authorized Products - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/HT200321
Additionally, you may want to learn about unauthorized codec implementations:
In some instances, unauthorized codec implementations have been used in third-party software and hardware products. Using any unauthorized implementation (such as the FFmpeg and derivative implementations) may lead to decoding errors, performance degradation, incompatibility, and instability. If you're using or considering the purchase of a product that encodes or decodes ProRes but is not on the list below, please contact us at [email protected]

You only have one card being sold, so there aren't any real choices.

  • Panasonic PV-GS500 compatible with Final Cut HD EXPRESS

Is the Panasonic PV-GS500 compatible with the HD express software. I've heard it will work with the MAC and it has a firewire, but will it work with the HD express software?
    Thank you!
    Sheila

I'm new to Apple and FCP and I understand your frustration. (Been over in the MS/UNIX world for 21+ years) When I decided to get FCE, I did quite a bit of research, found and read the FCP/FCE forums and choose a Sony MiniDV camcorder based on the experiences others had with simular Sony products. I bought it from a reputable store that I could return it to if it wouldn't talk to FC.
Keep in mind with your tire anology that there are Federal laws governing compliance with specifications for tires. There are no laws govering FW implementations. The biggest issue is usually the camcorder manufacturer, not Apple. Apple has no control over how camcorder manufacturers implement the Firewire standards. Canon is notorious for poor FW implementations while Sony and Panasonic seem to get it right most of the time.
Printers are another story entirely. Almost everyone with a computer uses a printer. Apple knows this and therefore expends more resources to test compatability for the wider audience.
Prosumer Digital cameras are relatively easy. They use USB and flash memory cards for data transfer. They don't use FW to control a camera or deck. The don't have to worry about mutiple data streams for video and audio or about codecs and frame rate. They just transfer files.
If you're talking about professional cameras like Haselblad, there are specific capture software packages made by other (PhaseOne comes to mind) companies that take care of the transfer and testing compatability.
Ian is right, FC is a very specialized area in the larger general use computing scope, so it unforunately gets less resources for things like compatability testing.
Personally I'd rather Apple stick to making better computers (like the MacPro and MacBooks) and keep spending the money on developing and testing better versions of FC.
