File transfers are soooo extremely slow in Parallels! How to speed up?

For transferring files between osx and parallels, i use the tool which is dilivered with paralles, but is is sooooo extremely slow here. It took 3 minutes too transfer a 2 mb file.
Is it possible to acces the OSX partition in windows by using Macdrive from mediafour? I also did this when i was using bootcamp. But now i like to swich fast betwee XP and OSX, so i started using Parallels
Any other suggestions how to speed up?
Maybe a partition which i can acces from both systems?

Yea, just installed, as they told in the help file. Then i shut down the Quest OSX, and shared some folders with the configuration editor. After that i started Windows again, and there was a new "parallels shared files" shortcut on the windows desktop. In there i could see all the folders i had shared. Just like it was told in the manual.
When i drag a file from the "parallels shared files" location, then it starts copying. It is only soooo slow.
I am sure that it is not a speed or memory or HD problem! I have 2 gig memory, and Quest OS has 0,5 gig and OSX has 1.5 gig. So that should be far enough for both! I have no other programms running (in windows and OSX), so there is no CPU speed short. My HD is just free from work, Quest OS and Windows are note using it, because there are no app's running, except Parallels:P
Are there maybe other possibilites? Can i open the image file in OSX, and drop files in there, or any other solutions. Look out for your help!
Parallels does also not respond to my e-mail, i send it 4 days ago!

    Mov is a container format, you'd need to look at the codec used by the movie file inside the container to know whether it will work with the Apple TV or not.

    It means that nano was used on a third-party software or synced from different computer to sync music. Does that nano show in iTunes? If yes, then restore completely. If not, then you may need to head to Apple Store and see what they can do.

  • I only want itunes to hold the lossless files which are in two different folders. How do I do that?

    I have thousands of MP3 files which I no longer use and which are in my itunes library.
    I want itunes (version 11) to have in it's library only the MS Lossless format and the ALAC lossless format which are in two different folders. How do I achieve this?

    Delete the files you don't want, or cut & paste them to an alternate location if you want to archive them.
    What MS Lossless format? .wav?
    iTunes doesn't have any custom organization features, but you can change the location of the media folder and then selectively consolidate content to the new folder. This creates copies so you have to manually delete the originals. Alternatively I have a script called ConsolidateByMoving which does what it suggests. Thiis could be used to split the media into parallel subfolders within your existing media folder if you disable iTunes "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" option.

  • Extremely slow boot.  How to get rid of white screen in Windows only boot.

    Hey guys I have a Windows 7 only MacBookPro 17". 2.8ghz core 2 duo, 4 gig of ram, 7200 rpm 500gb hd(passes s.m.a.r.t. btw)
    It boots extremely slow. I turn the computer on and it stays at the white screen for around 20 seconds. Then it moves to Windows 7 and continues to boot from there. I have a video:
    http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xc5taaslow-windows-7-boot-on-macbook-protech
    In a windows only setting how would I get it to just boot Windows without going threw the white screen? It also gets hung when logging in on a black screen.
    There was a post on Ubuntu forums about Ubuntu only boots about doing something to get it to only boot the MBR. I didn't really understand if this would work with Windows 7 though. Thanks for any help.

    I shut down all but one of the extensions, and that seems to have resolved the problem. Thank you!
    Now to figure out which extensions I need, and which I don't, because I don't have a clue. I don't remember installing most of these, I only recall one or two (nothing looks spammy like funmoods, but still don't remember when or why these were added...)

  • File.copyTo (and copyToAsync) extremely slow on Android. e.g. 1/2 second per tiny XML file. Help?

    On first launch, my app copies about 100 tiny XML files from application dir to storage dir. It takes about 35 seconds. That is clearly an issue. It takes about 1/100th of a second on any other platform. I've switched to copyToAsync() so that the user doesn't bail, but still this is like using a dial-up modem! Anyone have any thoughts?

    Hi all,
    I ran into the same problem on Android: File.copyToAsynch is terribly slow. For 200 files of about 42mb total, it took my Samsung Note 10.1  85 secs to copy from app dir to storage dir! (I have to copy the files to storage dir to be able to read modification date, which is not present in app dir, for an update scheme.)
    The solution I ended up with is very simple:
    Iterate recursively over folder that you want to copy.
    For each file that is not a directory, open the file (using FileStream) , read the bytes, write the bytes to a file on the target directory and close the streams.
    This took only 5 secs for the same 200 files / 42 mbs. As this happens only on first run of my app, this is very acceptable.
    Here is my code :
    var folder:String = "content/";//supply your folder here
    var src:File = File.applicationDirectory.resolvePath(folder);
    var goal:File = File.applicationStorageDirectory;
    var bytes:ByteArray = new ByteArray();
    var stream:FileStream = new FileStream();
    var iterate:Function = function(dir:File, path:String):void
                                            var files:Array = dir.getDirectoryListing();
                                            for each(var file:File in files)
                                                      if (file.isDirectory)
                                                                iterate(file, path + file.name + File.separator);
                                                      else
                                                                bytes.clear();
                                                                stream.open(file, FileMode.READ);
                                                                stream.readBytes(bytes);
                                                                stream.close();
                                                                var dest:File = goal.resolvePath(path+file.name);
                                                                stream.open(dest, FileMode.WRITE);
                                                                stream.writeBytes(bytes);
                                                                stream.close();
    iterate(src, folder);
    This could easily be reworked to work asynch of course.
    Hope this works for other people as well.

  • After conversion to html5, mouse timings are wrong & extremely slow

    I'm testing the conversion of our Captivate 5.5 swf's to html 5. After converting the file, the video seems to play ok, with the exception of the mouse and text:
    Mouse timings are wrong, the pointer begins to move the moment the slide begins
    The pointer moves very slowly, as if it is moving from point A to B equally during the duration of the entire slide
    No click audio
    Although none of the text entry has been converted to typing text animation, it is still missing from the new output
    Is there a setting I need to change in the original file to get this to work? This is a simple presentation/capture, with only 117 slides, no quiz questions, no LMS, no muss. Just audio and screenshots with some typing and cursor movement.
    Thank you.

    Dell PCs seem to come with McAfee security/anti-virus software pre-installed, and if this applies to your system, it's recommended to stop McAfee from scanning mail folders:

  • Data service in area is extremely slow and often unusable.

    My phone lately has been showing 1x rather than 3G in this area most times (area code 76380).  I have an iPhone 5 and have reset network connections multiple times.  I had this problem when I first got my phone last year and was told by Verizon that there was a problem with a tower and that LTE service would be in this area before the end of 2013.  This never happened.  Can someone please check the service in this area?  I have other friends and coworkers that are complaining about their service as well.  Thanks.

    I have been having the exact same problems as AndriesClaes. Basically, Safari in Yosemite is unusable, spending minutes trying to open simple web pages. It is unbelievable this bug wasn't picked up before release. Having migrated to Mac from Windows NT nearly 10 years ago, each release of the Mac OS is reminding more and more of the joys of Windows in the good old days!! Even the interface is becoming as garish and distasteful as Windows! Perhaps I'll end up back there again. Anyway, I have been through all suggested solutions on the forum here and the ONLY trick that worked was switching to version 7.1 (User Agent) from the Developer options on the menu bar. There is clearly something very wrong with version 8.0. I prefer Safari over all other browsers, for the Reading List amongst other things. Please fix ASAP!

  • Extremely slow Internet over Airport, good speed with Ethernet

    I've been using an airport extreme router (802.11n) for a while and recently I've noticed an incredible slow Internet over wifi. When I do a speed test it shows numbers like 200 kbps and I have a 10 mbps cable Internet connection. When I connect the ethernet from the modem it's perfect speed. Obviously Airport is slowing down my Internet connection. I tried resetting the Airport by pressing the reset button at the back, and it worked perfectly for a while. But after a few days it got back to slow Internet. Anybody have any idea?

    I don't know if this will help anyone else, but I came across some changes (purely by experimentation) that may help. I hope so, at least...
    I opened the Airport Utility and I swapped channels. The default is channel 6, but every other WiFi router defaults to this channel, too. I changed my Airport Extreme to use channel 3 (as well as my Airport Express), and now things are back to what I would have expected for an 802.11g connection.
    I will offer the suggestion that those of you with the same Internet slow-down observed on their iMac G5's try swapping channels. If you have an expanded WiFi home network vis-a-vis an Airport Express, be sure to update it first before you update your Airport Extreme.
    Best wishes and good luck!

  • I need to intercept all local files that are being loaded in Firefox. How can that be achieved?

    I am using geckofx in c#. I need to intercept response of a local file load request so that I can modify some data/response before it reaches Javascript.
    In short, I need something like
    1. JS requests browser to read a file.
    2. Browser reads content of a file.
    3. MAKE SOME MODIFICATIONS TO DATA (Additional Step)
    4. Then pass this modified data to JS to perform required tasks.
    Is this possible? If yes, how can this be achieved.

    You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this,boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type:  ‘resetpassword’ (without the ’s), hit return, and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

    hi, i have a macbook and have been trying to play a dvd disk i have with some movies on them. well besically they wont play as theyre AVI files, does anyone know how i can solve this problem?

    You can download and install MPlayerX free from Apple App Store. Works great for AVI and other movie formats. I had issues with some AVI's and MPlayerX resolved them.

  • TS1702 I'm at a dead  end - developer not fixing the problem with downloading file transfers from QuickVoice to the computer.  How do I report.  I see the purchase history in itunes, but there is no place to report a problem.

    QuickVoice does not auto transfer files to the computer.  When contacting the developer they send you a lync to a transfer file.  My anti-viral software says its infected with a Trojan Horse.  QuickVoice says to ignore.  I question this.....  And AVG my anti-viral softward puts it in a vault and won't let you ignore.  I have tons of voice recordings I need to get to my computer.  Help Apple with the developer you have approved to sell on iTunes.

    If you haven't already resolved the problem, go to <https://discussions.apple.com/message/20794011#20794011> to learn how to use FunBox to transfer QV files to computer.

  • [Slow NAL startup] How to speed up?

    We are a school with about 600 pc's running Windows XP + Novell Client
    4.91 sp2.
    And one of the servers is running Netware 5.1 sp6, Zenworks for Desktops 4
    and Zenworks for servers 3.
    We have 482 application objects in our tree.
    The problem is that after login, Naldesk.exe takes a long time to load.
    What is the best thing to do to speed things up?

    The 1st thing I would look for are "Force_Run".
    It is possible you could have items running in the background that are
    delaying the finishing of NAL.
    One key here is "Wait on Force Run".
    Disabling this setting on your Force Runs may allow NAL to finish loading
    while the external processes are still running.
    Also, How many "effective" apps are assigned to these users?
    By this I mean directly or inherited.
    A large number of these can slow down the logon process considerably while
    the objects are read and system requirements are evaluated.
    (Example - A User who has 400 effective apps even if only 40 show due to
    failed system requirements will come up much slower than somebody who is
    only assigned 60 with 80 failing due to system requirements.)
    Also, on the packet trace suggested by Anders, check to lost packets and
    retransmissions. This could be an indication of network problems somewhere
    betweeen the server and workstation. I have seen this drastically effect
    the startup times.

  • Disconnect from WiFi Button in Yosemite (Faster File Transfers via Airdrop)

    Hi all! Just thought I'd share a great new pro-tip I found that's pretty handy.
    Sometimes file transfers through a complex or busy network with a  (think hotel lobby or coffee shop), Airdrop file transfers can run extremely slow vs. it going from computer to computer via no network (Ad Hoc). I was determined to find a work around for disconnecting from a WiFi network without turning off Wifi.
    Anyways, Yosemite introduced a much asked for feature - The disconnect from WiFi button! Just hold down option while you select the WiFi indicator on the menu bar and click disconnect! Your WiFi will continue to be on and it simply won't connect to that network again. If you now search for other computers in AirDrop, it will find them and be a much faster computer to computer connection.

    Testing in a new User will quickly tell you if the problem is system wide or if it's your User's folder that contains the problem.
    CREATE A NEW USER
    Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Users & Groups Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching.
    Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Test Markup in Mail using the iCloud account.
    Continue testing to see what works in the new User.
    Do you still see the issue?
        If yes, then the problem is with your base files.
        If no, then the problem is in your User's folder.
    Finder - my iMac name is - iMacs iMac. All of a sudden it become iMacs iMac (2) and latter iMacs iMac (6). What are these numbers ?
    In System Preferences > Sharing you can see name. When Finder adds a number it indicates it's seeing another drive with the same name. You can select to rename but this could also be an indication of issues at the base level.
    Do you have an external drive that could be used to clone your drive in case you need to do a clean install?

  • Bonjour file transfers slow

    Bonjour file transfers using AirPort have slowed to a crawl between our two iMacs since we installed Lion. However an app like DropCopy sends files in a snap. What happened?

    Hi,
    In Snow Leoaprd you needed at least one external DNS server IP listsed in the System Preferences > Network > Advanced Buttton  DNS tab to ensure mDNSReponder worked.
    (mDNSReponder is central to Bonjour)
    As Bonjour is billed as a Home Network/LAN system it did seem silly that this was the case.
    It may p[ay to check if it is the same in Lion.
    Bonjour can have difficulties if the same account is the one Logged in on both computers.
    I had this issue when I got  MacBook Pro and set up the admin account with the same details as both machines though they were the same account.
    Similar issues can arise if the machine names are the same.
    I have not been able to test my son's Lion Computer yet.
