File Type restriction in Document of Records Attachments

Users have options to upload any type of Files PDF, JPEG, TIFF, docx in Document of Records. Some of the File Types would take lot more memory Space than others like PDF vs. DOCX/TIFF.
For Example same Employee Passport scanned as PDF may take only 10KB vs. 50KB when scanned as TIFF Image.
Are there ways to restrict File Types in Document of Record so that only PDF files can be Attached/uploaded?

Thank you, Profile option is good idea to define overall limit on the document size. But Employee documents may range from 10KB to 20MB.
Simple 1 Page Certificate may be 10KB in size while a 20 Page Passport would be 15MB. The profile will have to be set at 15MB to allow users to upload Passport in this case. however that would not stop a user uploading Certificate in TIFF format consuming 100KB space vs. 10KB had it been done in PDF format.
User Hook sounds like the solution, Do you know the API used to upload document to Employee record and do they have User hook options?

  • Share file type restrictions

    Anyone know if there is a way to set share file type restrictions? I don't want my client to be able to write certain file types to particular file shares.
    Thank you all!

    There not any such option in workgroup manger or server admin to set restrictions file type.
    I don't think is would be a good restrictions, if you blocked .mp3 file type for example to stop people from having music on the share point sound good but now if some moves a final cut or logic project your find your have some issues

  • [CS3][JS] How to get the file type of current document

    Hi,
    How to get the file type of current opening document (e.g., tif, jpeg, png) using JavaScript with Photoshop CS3.
    I am using file object the open the files one by one in the folder (the files sometimes don't have the extensions).
    If the current document is in tiff format then I need to convert to 8-bit, if its an Jpg image then needs to ignore the file.
    Regards,
    Karthik

    Do you really need to know the file type? What about just checking the bit depth?
    var doc = activeDocument;
    if (doc.bitsPerChannel != BitsPerChannelType.EIGHT) {//Not 8 bit
    doc.bitsPerChannel = BitsPerChannelType.EIGHT;
    //do your save etc
    }else{
        //Ignore

  • File is missing in Document Info Record

    Hi,
    we are facing a serious Problem. A File that should be on one of our Document Info Records (DIR) is missing. The Change History shows a checkout and Checkin as last action for this file. There was no deletion activity.
    The File can be still found in our FileBased ContentServer but as it is compressed (due to Content-Server compression) it can not be read.
    Now i have two questions about that:
    1. What might be happened that this file is no more attached on DIR without doing any deletion operation?
    2. What can we do to reattach the compressed File that is in ContentServer?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
    as the file should be checked in to a content server repository please test the report DMS_KPRO_READ. Here you can enter the document info record data and the result will show you all assigned original files. Further there is a small green download button which should enable you to download the file to your PC.
    Best regards,
    Christoph

  • Change file type from BINARY DOCUMENT to QUicKTIME VIDEO?

    Hi,
    I'm using Bridge CS4 to help catalogue my Quicktime videos (captured via FCP into a capture scratch file) and for the most part it works well. The problem is it seems to list in the "type" column many of the videos as BINARY DOCUMENTS instead of QUICKTIME VIDEO which means I can't play or scrub through them in the preview window. Instead they appear as a single static frame. They still open up into a playable video though when double clicked.
    Adding or removing the extension .mov seems to have no affect.
    Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to get them back into being recognized as QUICKTIME VIDEO?
    Thanks!

    Ooops, I just found the solution. Right-click on clip and select "Purge Cache For Selection", it changes all clips back to the right type.

  • Changing The File Type On Multiple Documents Simultaneously

    I have over 100 documents that I want to end in ".aif". Is there a way to do this in one pass? I would, if possible, prefer not to have to go through each and every doc individually and change them manually. I've done the very thing on enough ocassions and it's very time consuming to say the least.
    I opened Automator, but it didn't seem to have anything for this function. I selected all the files and did a mass "information" (apple "i"), but was not allowed to change the name and extension area.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much one and all in advance for all the help and support,
    Javier Calderon

    Thank you both. Niel, I shall look at some of the options available on the link you provided and see what occurs.
    Gnarl, regarding the Applescript, I just took a look at it, and, although it at first glance looks pretty intimidating, I think that this might be the very thing that will get the job done . . . no? I'll try to follow the instructions, cross my fingers, and hope for the best.
    Thank you both again.

  • Document Preview File Types

    Hi,
    I am trying to find a list of all the file types that the document preview in a SharePoint Online environment supports. By this I mean the preview must show the contents of the document, and not just the metadata.
    Does anyone know of a list I can reference?
    Thanks

    Basically its all the standard office document types and PDF.  Its the same list as the document types supported by Office Web Apps since that is what does the preview.  Here's a support article that explains what Office Web apps supports.

  • Photosmart C5580: PDF File type option has disappeared from Scan Shortcut Settings under Documents

    For 6 years I have used PDF as the file type for scanning documents.  Yesterday it switched to TIFF.  This creates files of ~8.5 MB per scanned page.
    The PDF option does no longer show in the dropdown menu.  Remaining options are:
    Bitmap, TIFF, TIFF Compressed, JPEG, GIF, PNG, PCX and FlashPix.
    How do I get PDF back on the list.
    I run Vista Home Premium

    Hi @vliegendeboer ,
    I see that you are having issues with the PDF option missing from the scanning software. I would like to help.
    In the HP Solution Center Software, select the option to change settings, select Save to File Save Options, on the File Type, try and select PDF and press OK. I don't have the exact Version 12 software you are using to go by, but the steps should be similiar.
    If you are still not able to select PDF ,download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it.Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?

  • Adding images to rows in a table depending on file type

    Hello,
    Within Visual Composer we have a table which lists documents and contains information about the document type
    i.e. description = 'This is a Word Document', file type = 'application/msword'
    then I have uploaded the images (icons) for the different file types, created a 'Document Type' column (of type image) in the table and assigned the correct boolean statements to determine which icons are shown
    e.g. BOOL(IF(@MIMETYPE == 'application/msword', true, false))
    This is the exact steps explained in the how to: How To… Integrate BI Document Store and SAP Analytics Applications
    But just does not work? It will not display the icons even though the file type (MIMETYPE) is displayed and is correct.
    Any help much appreciated!

    Seem to have fixed the problem.
    By adding a filter before the table view it seems to allow a slight delay which allows the file types to load and the IF statements run correctly and display the correct images for the various file types.
    Still seems that there is a slight Visual Composer Issue there? (but now with a work-around)

  • Image Size and File Type

    For image files we should be able to see the size of the image in inches in the details section.
    Also for any file, we should be able to quickly see the exact file type (Illustrator CS document or Illustrator CS2 document), not just "Illustrator document" which is absolutely useless.

    Stan,
    You can see the file type by hovering over the file in Library view and it will show the file name followed by the extension like jpg, nef or tiff.
    Alternatively in library mode go to grid view it will pixel size of the files as well as the name of the file withthe format.
    If you are not able to see that go to View>View Option.
    Check the option show header with label
    Hope thatt helps.

  • Variable number of document info record parameters

    Hi guys,
    I have a question about adding additional information to document info record.
    The situation is following:
    Our customer wants us to link original purchase order (PDF file) with it's document info record in SAP. The document itself is stored in another document management system and we have succeeded in linking this object with it's document info record in SAP.
    He also wants to have some description data stored in document info record (date, description, name, etc). One odd requirement is copying information about cost centers and costs per each cost center from fields in document management system to some fields in document info record.
    The problem is that each purchase order can have various number of cost centers and costs per each cost center!
    So, is there any possibility to define some fields in document info record to which I can store variable number of parameters (for example in one case 3 fields, and maybe in another case 1 field)?
    Any kind of information will be valuable for me!
    Thanks for help!

    Hi,
    But my next question is how can I know how much cost centers will be for some document? If I need to define number of cost centers in advance, then this solution is not very flexible. The best solution would be if I could add values to classification flexibly (for example: one time 3 values and the other time 1 value).
    :-Check box additional values in values tab of char. that will allow to enter flexible number of values any time
    The other question is about values of parameters. For each cost center I need to enter two values (cost center number, and costs for that cost center). So, for each cost center I need to add 2 values. Is that possible using classification?
    :-Create classification with chara. cost center, cost center value and check box additional values as above that will allow you to add values for cost center and cost center value.

  • JDev 10.1.3 EA: Bug in "File Types" preferences

    Hi,
    I've found a bug when using 10.1.3 EA, as follows:
    1. Yesterday, under Tools -> Preferences -> File Types I added a new File Type for files with extension ".vm" (Velocity), and I'd associated it with an HTML Source "File Type."
    2. I shut down JDev before going home.
    3. Today, I fire up JDev EA and I decide that I now want .vm files to be associated with a file type of "XML Document." But I can't, because the "File Type" drop down is grayed out, as well as the "Remove" button. I can't even remove the .vm extension to redo it!
    So, now I have to either hunt around in the JDev subfolders for the file(s) where this stuff is stored as a work-around, or completely reinstall JDev. Right? User-defined File Type extensions should remain editable, unless I'm missing something here...
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    We've got a bug tracking this, but in the meantime the extension is stored in \jdev\system\oracle.idex.10.1.3.34.12\preferences.xml.
    Shutdown JDev and do the following, search for the extension type in preferences.xml, there will be two occurences, delete the Item element encompasing the type and save the file. Start JDev and the file type will be removed.
    I had problems getting JDev to recognize newly added types, let us know if you have any further issues.
