FileMaker Pro Server 8 LDAP Refesh Issue

Hi -
I know this is the authentication section for Mac OS X Server. I am dealing with a parallel issue from FileMaker Pro Server 8 in regards to LDAP authentication so maybe I can find a fix here.
I have a PowerMac G5 with Mac OS 10.4.8 and FileMaker Server 8 loaded. I have bound the G5 to Active Directory. I have created AD goups, assigned those groups to databases and tested authentication. It all works. FMP Server 8 gets its authentication from the hosting computer. So my issue is that when I add/remove users from AD groups, the G5 does not immediately see the recent changes, thus FMP Server faults at authentication. I have to restart the G5 after AD group editing so the databases will get proper permissions.
My question:
Is there a way to force the G5 to get new LDAP permissions without restarting? I've encounterd this before with Mac OS X Server.
Thanks.
XServe   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Turned out to be corrupted quicktime codecs. Pulled them out of the main library and no more crashing.

    Hi,

    Here is a snippet.
Currently Windows Server and Linux Server VM support on Windows Azure. So a Mac software will not run on Windows Azure. But according to
http://www.filemaker.com/products/filemaker-server/server-12-specifications.html, FileMaker also supports Windows Server. So you still have a chance
    to get it work.
If you need make Mac works on Windows Azure, i suggest your post your idea as a feature request to Microsoft:

  • Windows Inventory Isn't Picking Up Filemaker Pro 8.5 +

Despite finding over 300 instances of the Filemaker Pro EXE file for version 8.5 and 11 in our file data, ZCM isn't reporting any Windows instances of Filemaker Pro V 8.5 installed. The PRU indicates that it fingerprints "Filemaker Pro x.x", but the most recent version that we are seeing identified is 5.5. Interestingly, our Macs seem to be reporting Filemaker Pro 8.5 without issue. Without it being a product, we can't get software usage on it and are planning an upgrade. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Install and run the software fingerprint wizard on a machine that has Filemaker Pro 8.5. This file is then submitted to the fingerprinting team for implementing into a future PRU. Hope that helps

  • Filemaker Pro 6 Client install on Snow Leopard Server on Parallels

    Hey Gang,
As per MichaelLAX "Full installation instructions for Snow Leopard Server into Parallels", I have successfully installed SLS on an ML iMac using Parallels 8.  Worked great, thank you.
The only issue I am runnig into is we require FileMaker Pro 6 client to be installed and functional.  FM installs fine, but the client does not seem to be able to "see" the FM Server which is on the same local network all our other macs operate and access FM on.
I'm sure there is a preference somewhere that is preventing the SLS install of FM from accessing the local network computers as they are also not visible in finder as they would be normally.  I have no experience with OS X Server in general, so any advice is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Josh

OK: Here is what I did:
I installed FM7 on my Snow Leopard Mac Mini and created a small file called To Do List.fp7.  I made it a FileMaker Network server file in the Sharing... Menu under FileMaker Pro menu.
I then opened FM7 in Snow Leopard Server in Parallels 8 on my Lion Mac Mini.  Under the File Menu I selected Open Remote... I changed View to Favorite Hosts.
Then I clicked the Add button.  Then for Host's Internet Address, I entered the IP for my Snow Leopard Mac Mini (in this case 192.168.0.151) and gave it a Favorite Host Name (To Do).  I clicked Show All Available Files for this Host and clicked Save.
My server file To Do List.fp7 is now visible in the window and I can click Open.
In my case, since I have only one licensed serialized copy of FM7, it recognized that I was using it twice and told me that error and then quit.
But in your case, you should now be able to open your local area network served FM files!

  • Filemaker Pro 9 file won't print p 4  pdf issue?  Good Filemaker Pro site?

Today is one of those print file from hades days. A 77 page file in Filemaker Pro 9 will print until it gets to page four. Then the printer times out and drops the file. What printer you ask? Well, the first ten tries were on a Laserwriter Pro 16/600 PS. It prints any other page just fine. So, I tried saving the file as a pdf. Preview will display the page but not print either. So I export the records on that page into a new database with just the records on page four. Still will not print page one of only one page. I add a new record by duplicating one record. That spills one record onto page two. Page two prints just fine. Could one of the records have a bitter code pill that corrupts the print file?
I copy the pdf to a thumb drive and take it to a different computer. The second 16/600 PS does not print the page. The LED flashes several times then goes solid without printing. Then the HP 4500 does not print it.
Can anyone recommend a good public forum for Filemaker issues? Sites I have found so far are commercial in nature. I have used Filemaker with great satisfaction since 1985 and Filemaker Plus. No major complaints until Filemaker Pro 9. Version 2 was great. Still use it once a week. Pro 3 was also problem free as was Pro 4. Any ideas would be appreciated. I am usually in the legacy products discussions but new software requires OS X.
    Thanx in advance.

  • Final Cut Server and FileMaker Pro

Has anyone tried to import FileMaker Pro data into Final Cut Server? I have an FMP database with photos, video and audio files that I'd like to export to Final Cut Server along with the meta data and I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any experience with this.

It needs to be filled with RAM, and when running Pro Apps, in the faster graphics processor mode. Mail, etc. will likely run fine along side them. I'd not play games when rendering though.
When they don't run, they don't affect anything but disk space 60 gigs for it all including Templates... RAM is the key to running multiple apps on any given Mac.
Nice Mac too. I just saw one the other day for the first time. I love that new trackpad the most. It's likely a lot faster than my 2.3 laptop, and I can run all the apps at the same time no problem with it. But ya need to fill up the RAM. I like that it's so green.

  • I cannot acess files onmy Win XP Pro server from my three win 8.1 umits

Okay, I'm finally off of most of the medicinal drugs and I still cannot get my share/use commands to work.
My environment is 4 PCs local network (one win 8.1 laptop (wireless), one win 8.1 desktop (hardwired and wireless), one win 8.1 tablet (wireless) and one win XP Pro - SP3 desktop (wireless) - the drive is an NTFS formatted drive.
On the in XP server with simple file sharing turned "OFF", I created a net user command that added a user.  I set a password for this account and then the /add: operator. I used the /homedir: option to set the home
directory to the root directory of drive "C".  I used the Net localgroup command to move don.farr into the administrator group.  Both commands execute properly on the XP server.  I also issue a net share command to share the root directory
    of drive "C".
Using the laptop (Win 8.1) I do a net use command with the password for the drive appended to the end of the net use command.
When I try to access the files on my z: drive, I get "access denied" messages regardless of which method I use to get to the data files.  For example, using "cmd" I switch to z: and cd into the root directory.  I can do
a "dir"and see all the files, but if I try to do a "type" or even open the file with notepad (example "autoexc.bat") I get an access denied message.
Now, just to make matters more interesting, if I do "remote access", I can get to the drive and do just about anything I want to.  Also, if I issue a "Net Session" command, I will see the user (don.farr) as a listed user but instead
of seeing the proper fullname. I do see the IP address followed by the user name.
On the win XP Pro system, if I issue the Net user command, I see user set up in the administrator group.
So I ask, what in the world am I doing wrong that is preventing my in 8.1 from full access to my in XP Pro drive.
This only became an issue of late because I am recovering from knee surgery and my ability to move to the different computers is a severe challenge at this immediate point in time.
    Please help me!

The most probable reason  stems from difference between SMB versions. W XP is SMB 1 and W 7 and 8.x are 2 or more. Lower higher version Windows to lower SMB. Sometimes other configuration items may play the role, namely
autotuning. Also versio 6.x Wiindows has different mechanism for neighbor discovery.
Root directory is usually shared by default and is accessible to local administrator.
I do recommend to place your question into public forum answers.microsoft.com

  • Leopard Mail and Filemaker pro - "Send Mail" is s-l-o-w

When I upgraded to Leopard, I began having a problem with the "Send Mail" function in Filemaker Pro, even after I upgraded to the latest version. Previously, sending mail with an attachment to 300 BCC addresses went very quickly - about 10 seconds. Since Leopard, I have begun seeing each address get loaded into the BCC line, an operation taking 20 minutes or more. Has anyone else seen this, and are there any suggestions on how to remedy it?

    You might try this.
MAC Mail, for some reason, wants a DNS server setting in the network setup.
Under System Preferences, go to Network and add your DNS numbers for your ISP Server. Get the right numbers from your ISP. I did a search for "DNS" on the ATT/YAHOO member web site.
This fixes the slow checking and sending of mail....It also fixes problems where mail sends slow and may give Authentication errors.
I spent many hours on this and finally the answer was posted on this forum.
Public DNS servers are less likely to be changed. They have been tried and do work. Nobody knows why.
For Public DNS servers look at.

  • Photoshop CS4 crashes with Filemaker Pro 8.5 open

Normally, continuous crashes in a new Adobe application results in a fairly quick fix in the form of an update. I let the application report the error codes via the automated submission process. However, I have had this problem for months now without any apparent remedy. I use Filemaker Pro 8.5 on Windows XP SP3 for all my invoicing and production scheduling. Photoshop CS4 will crash twice trying to run with Filemaker Pro open, however on the third try, it will run, but then Filemaker Pro will be frozen and require Ctrl-Alt-Delete force close to access again. I cannot use Filemaker Pro 9 or 10 due to the 8.5 requirements of the VERY expensive invoicing system.
Hopefully Adobe techs lurk these forums and will report attempt to resolve this issue.
Also, ONLY the Adobe website will freeze in my IE 8.0.6001 browser. I had to use Firefox 3.0.11 to access the website and then the forum. I see other users below this entry are reporting the same issue without a solution. I tried and tried again and waited. Apparently there is an issue related to the Flash banner, whereas all else will load, but the browser will hang up on the animation load. It eventually works, but not without long delay and browser hang up.

  • Link to Filemaker pro database from wiki fails

Has anyone tried to create a link from within a wiki page that can launch a filemaker pro 9 database residing on the Xserve? I'm able to create the link in the edit page but when I click to save, the underlining disappears and the link is no more. I'm able to link to web-sites on the WWW and within other wiki pages but not to the fmnet:/XXX.XX.XXX.XX/HOME prompt. Thanks

As I read this, you want to go from a web server using http protocol to a database server using its own protocol. You could use a redirect to take a link like http://domain.com/groups/fmpro to fmnet://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/HOME assuming the fmnet link is the link provided in the Menu/Send Link action of FM Pro.

  • Filemaker Pro 11 - some useful new features

Just upgraded from Filemaker Pro 9 to 11. There are some useful new features listed at: http://www.filemaker.com.au/products/filemaker-pro/whats-new.html
At last I will be able to generate charts from datasets, without needing an add-on.
I have been using the ancient DOS software Open Access (no relation to MS Access) for charting relational SQL databases since 1987. I still use Open Access within DOSBOX for OS X for some complex data processing tasks. Tips at
    http://users.tpg.com.au/aoaug/mac_vpc.html

I am not an expert in Filemaker But I have been playing with it quite a bit recently. It sounds like you have opened some of the ports required but not all. All IWP is a webpage that is hosted (by the sounds of it) on your local machine you will need to make sure all required ports are open like port 80 for http. I would start by setting the default host on the airport using the airport utility.
You will want to set this as the ip for the computer that has filemaker on it.
Airport Utility > Network > Network Options
You may also want to make sure you reserve this ip in the DHCP reservations section.
If the IWP page works with this set up then you can work your way backwards opening the required ports ( have a look at this http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6427/~/filemaker-server-and-fi lemaker-server-advanced-port-numbers )
I had lots of problems with IWP but installing the server add on sorted this. The advantage to this is that the server add on configures your airport to use the machine as a server.
Dropbox, log me in, back to my mac are slightly different from what you are doing. They are apps which are open and communicating with their respective servers. When you want to host a web site or even just VNC into a mchine you have to have the ports set to forward accordingly, this is because an outside machine is attempting to initiate the contact. This is what the firewalls and security that comes with modern routers are designed to prevent.
I hope I have helped, I can see your question is quite old.  I saw your topic whilst looking to solve a problem my own.

  • Filemaker Pro 8, Virtual PC 7 Leopard

Successfully ran the Apple Hardware Test on my 2Ghz DP PowerMac G5 last night followed by a clean install of Leopard. After this I did clean installs of both Filemaker Pro 8.03 and Virtual PC 7.03. I was able to run both without problem, although because Lexmark hasn't updated the driver yet for my Optra E232, I wasn't able to test printing. Because of the printing issue, I restored my Tiger installation from a clone drive; I'll stay in Tiger till printing works.

You have posted in the wrong forum. This is the Boot Camp forum about running Windows and Windows softwares.

  • Applescript works fine in ScriptEditor but not in Filemaker Pro

I'm getting an odd result from an Applescript script being called from within Filemaker that I've not seen before nor have I found a reference to it online here or elsewhere.
The following script creates three new records and makes a call to the Filemaker script "paste_into_container". The FM script "paste_into_container is very simple, it pastes whatever is currently on the clipboard into a specific container field. When the script is called from within Filemaker, the "paste_into"container" subscript will only paste the contents of the clipboard into the last new record. The container field on the first two records is left blank.
It's almost as if the loop creates the new record, ignores the "go to last record and "paste_into_container" lines in the script, and then moves on to the next iteration of the loop.
The script works fine when called from ScriptEditor but fails when called from within Filemaker. The script will also work if I drop the repeat loop and create just one record.
I've tried increasing the delay added at the end of each loop but it does not make any difference whether it is 1 or 15 seconds.
I'm sure it's something simple but I'm not seeing it and after two days it's time for help (of one kind or another)
    additional info:
    Mac OS 10.6.8
Filmaker Pro 11 running with Filemaker Server 11

repeat with i from 1 to 3         set myNewRecord to create new record in database myDB        go to last record        do script "paste_into_container"        delay 1    end repeatend tell

    Hi TW
Good suggestion. I tried it but no result.
Here's what's odd. I created two fields in the FM database, one called ScriptCall and the other ScriptResult. I then modified the applescript as follows:
    tell application "FileMaker Pro"
show every record in table "Image_Info" in database myDB
go to layout 1 of database myDB
        repeat with i from 1 to 3
set myNewRecord to create new record in database myDB
            go to last record
set cell "ScriptCall" in myNewRecord to "1"
            considering application responses
                do script "paste_into_container"
            end considering
set cell "ScriptResult" in myNewRecord to "1"
            delay 1
        end repeat
    end tell
I set this up to test where the problem might be. The results were odd. The applescript creates three new records.
    Record 1
    ScriptCall = 0
    ScriptResult = 0
    Record 2
    ScriptCall = 0
    ScriptResult = 0
    Record 3
    ScriptCall = 1
    ScriptResult = 1
