Filemaker Pro, Word, or Excel on iPad?

Is it possible to run Filemaker Pro, Word, or Excel on an iPad?

You can only use apps (programs) that are available in the iTunes App Store - as Microsoft havn't made app versions of Word nor Excel they can't be used (there are other office type apps available e.g. Pages and Numbers from Apple). There is a version of FileMaker for the iPad : http://www.filemaker.com/products/filemaker-go/for-ipad/

  • Using MS Word and Excel on Ipad Air

I use MS Word and Excel 2010 on my PC and I work from home copying data (copy and paste) from an internet web site into these programs. I have ordered an iPad Air and want to go to the internet with it when I'm away and copy formatted data from a web page into a program on my iPad, then put these files (one a text file in Word and one a data file in columns in Excel in idrop box where they will stay until I get back home and copy them to my PC in Word and Excel. Can I do this? How?

Thank you, that looks like the answer, now all I need to know is if the iPad will allow me to cut and paste.
The web site I use is an online newspaper that I get information for mailing advertising. I sign in and go to text files and data lists and from there I open the office program and select, copy and paste. The Excel workbook page accepts the paste of the columns data exactly as they appear on the web page. Also the text section allows me to select just what text I need, then copy and paste into Word. They are not large files. I can fine tune the data later on my PC Office 2010 when I retrieve it from Drop Box.
Up to now I have been doing it from my PC Office 2007 laptop when I'm away and it works fine and put them in Drop Box. Now I want to use an iPad, as my laptop is heavy and the battery is dead. I also plan on using iCloud. The apple world is all very new to me.

  • What ODBC driver to use in order access Filemaker Pro from Excel

    Hi
I run Filemaker Pro 11 and Excel on my Mac OSX 10.5.
I want to access my Filemaker database directly from Excel (to use the data in Pivot tables without first having to export the data from Filemaker). What ODBC driver should I use?

Bruce, I have an indexed, 5 Billion record MS-Access Jet (Red) 4.x format database file system (no table linking), 1 table only, each MDB file acting as a partial table, not a database. This database contains 500 x 2-GIG files, each file with 10
million rows - text compression/encryption turned on.  I created this 1 Terabyte file system (empty) using ODBC Administrator which came installed on my Windows 7 Home Premium Laptop (Factory installed, no Service Packs).  I used ODBC/SQL then
to create the tables/indexes within the empty MDB files.   I have a MEMO data type in my table too with text as long as 528 characters.    I have used MIMEbase64 encoding too, so that the data is not humanly readable neither via SQL
nor by opening an MDB file in WordPad.   I do the decoding during SQL processing.
In my FILE DSN, I bumped Threads property to 510 from default 3, so that I could run 510 simultaneous/concurrent SQL processes on my Laptop, to produce reliable report output.
You might consider this little setup, if nothing else works, as long as the PCs have either Windows XP or 7 installed.   MS-Access ODBC driver is already installed for Jt 4.x format, and you can compact/repair the 4.x files using ODBC Administrator,
or get the GUI/commandline utility JetComp.exe to do it, which is freely distributable.
I know this is not likely your answer, but it is a good fall back perhaps for someone.

    Hey vcomfort6,
Please ensure that you are using Adobe Acrobat and not Reader to convert PDF file to word or excel.
Could you tell me whether it is a scanned document? Does this happen with all PDFs or any specific one?
Do you get any error message? What exactly happens when you try doing the same?
    Hope to hear from you.

  • Is it possible to create a word doc or excel in iPad Air

Is it possible to create a word doc or excel in iPad Air? Also is it possible to open or transfer documents from my computer to my iPad?

Yes. you will need the appropriate apps to do that. some options:
Apple's Pages and Number. These will create documents in their respective native formats, but can be exported in Word or Excel (among others) as needed. They will also import from those formats (with limitations)
MS has published Word and Excel fort the iPad, but in order to create of edit files, you need an Office 365 subscription ($99 USD per year, I believe)
There are a number of other apps available in the apps store that will also accomplish this for you.
Just be aware that regardless of the apps chosen, there will be limitations compared to Word and Exel for PC (I don't know of any app for iOs that can handle pivot tables, for example)

Yes, several options, including syncing via itunes. However, you may fiond using a cloud service is more convenient. What you chose will depend on teh editing apps you use.I use DropBox and Box externsively, as well as iCloud (if you opt for Apple's apps). Skydrive would be your best option if you use MS apps.

  • New Laserjet Pro M476NW Will Not Print MS Word or Excel Files

I just bought a brand new Color Laserjet Pro MFP M476nw printer. I am usint MS Vista 32 bit and MS Office 2007.
The Printer prints images, emails and I can make copies, etc, but I cannot print Word files, Word Envelopes, Excel files, etc.
Until my old HP Laserjet 4P finally died the other day (internal electrical short) I could print everything. Have spent 8-hours or so trying everything I have read from Microsoft, HP, etc, with no success. Installed, Uninstalled, reinstalled, ran diasgnostics, still no success.
I cannot contact anyone at HP for less than $99 to talk to a person. Very frustrating.
As I said, Word and Excel files printed just fine until I bought the new M476nw printer. How can this be Fixed?
    This question was solved.

You will either need to download the apps or use a USB SuperDrive/3rd party CDROM drive or copy your apps onto a USB thumb drive from another computer.

How do you convert a PDF to Word or Excel in Acrobat 9 Pro?

Refer to Acrobat 9 Help PDF (installed with Acrobat 9 is installed).
Review the  discussion for Exporting PDFs in Chapter 5 of this Help PDF.
The PDF is also available on Adobe's site.
    http://help.adobe.com/archive/en_US/acrobat/9/professional/acrobat_pro_9.0_help.pdf
Good to know is that the Acrobat 9.x product family passed into End of Support mid-year 2013.

  • With IPAD 2 may we use softwares similar to WORD and EXCEL?

with IPAD 2 may we use softwares similar to WORD and EXCEL?

There are a number of apps that are compatible with Office documents. Apple makes iOS versions of their own iWork apps (Pages, Keynote, Numbers) that can be purchased separately. There are also 3rd party combined suites that cost less than the separate Apple apps. Ones often recommended include Documents 2 Go,  Quickoffice and Office2 HD.
If you can accept needing a network connection whenever you want to use the apps and have an Office 365 subscription, Microsoft has just released their Office Mobile app, though it has significant limitations. Or a server-based solution such as CloudOn might be an option for you.

  • Mac book pro running slow and word and excel from Mac not opening

Mac book pro running slow and word and excel from Mac not opening

Call it Monday morning humor.... ALL the MacBook Pro owners we see asking the same thing (more than once a day, too) are slower since 10.10.x so we can assume something. Heard the very same story with every new OS in the past decade from laptop owners, heard a lot especially with Snow Leopard back in Aug-Sept 2009.
A new OS goes better if you do a clean install / checked Roaringapps.com for compatibility / wait for vendors to have updates
About the only things that can be done in addition - if you have like many posting those symptoms have minimal 4GB RAM is to upgrade to 8GB+ and throw in a new 250GB+ SSD (the most recent MBP have to be bought with and cannot add RAM later).
Even the MacBook Air 2014 though with 4GB RAM have PCIe-SSDs that helps, plus 4th gen Intel i5's and an IG of 5000 or later all help.
Try including more details. Model year and configuration at least.

  • How to Access Word and Excel on my ipad

I am going to Europe this month and I do NOT want to bring my PC. I need to have access to my Microsoft Word and Excel files. I will need to crete, edot and email these files.  I have heard that I need something called CloudOn and DropBox.  Does Apple offer me the same capability using their Cloud?
Any recommendations as to how to solve my problem?

Hi Allan, I understand that I can buy iWorks and get the applications.  Any idea as to how I can upload my files from my PC to the iCloud?
Open your web browser on your PC (I recommend fireFox or Chrome rather that IE for this) to www.icloud.com. Login and then selct iwork. Click on teh appropriate app on the tup menu, then the Gear icon to the right and select upload document.
Open the iworks app you selected (Pages for example) and select the document. You will be prompted to make a copy or convert.
If you use Dropbox, you will have the option to open a document in any app on iPad compatbile with its file format, including Pages, Numbers, etc. or Cloud on or other alternative app.

  • HT1444 If i download the new OS X Mountain Lion to my Macbook Pro that has Snow Leopard, will i lose my apps and downloads (such as: Microsoft word, powerpoint, excel, oovoo, skype) and will i lose all of my pictures/documents and information?

I should just change the OS and leave all your apps and data alone.  That said, if any of your apps are old and use Rosetta (ppc apps), they won't run under Mountain Lion.
Make sure you take a good Time Machine or Clone backup before you convert.
You can check compatibility of your apps here:

  • Can Microsoft Word and Excel be migrated to mac pro?

Can Microsoft Word and Excel be migrated to mac pro?

You can also install Windows (new activation copy) on your Mac and use Windows natively, or for 99.9% of running Office apps, run Windows as a guest VM is fine. The data can be opened and edited and exported back to native Office format and opened in OpenOffice and others, or in Pages and Numbers, though whether those are satisfactory solutions or not you'll have to decide.
If you have a copy of Office that includes PC and mobile devices and Mac? like Office 365 for 5 devices?
But the actual apps of course are platform / OS specific.
And right now if you are running Windows 8.1 for instance, you can download the ISO and install Windows 10 Technical Preview (very nice btw, combines a lot of desired features). Have only run into one small problem in using it so far.
VirtualBox is free Oracle VM or there are commercial VM products. To run Windows natively you just use a Mac utility, Boot Camp Assistant, to partition a drive (internal) and to install and provides Mac specific drivers.

  • Best way to view and edit OpenOffice files on my new iPad Mini (originally Word and Excel files). Thanks!

Can someone tell me the best way to view and edit OpenOffice files on my new iPad Mini (originally Word and Excel files)? Thanks!

wmf files is a MS Windows video file, you will need a tool to covert the wmf files to another file format OS X will read. Simply Google to find a converter you are interested in and use it.
