Filename encoding from content server
Dear gurus,
I need your help. As storage our documents for ERP we use content server. I observe problem for example I try to open in sbwp in shared folders file with name "Роли-транзакции MM.xls". On first time it opens without any problem. Then I try open this file or other I see message "file is not found <name of file>". When i go in sapworkdir (or sapgui) folder I see file with filename like this "####-##########MM_20130919063339.006_X.xls". But the files with English letters in the file name opens correct. I understand that the problem is somewhere in the content server, but where?
Hi Dmitry,
Do you do all the activities with logon language RU and a Windows front end system where the system code page is based on Cyrillic? If not, please retry with a "completely localized" setup.
The fact that the Russian characters are converted to #-symbols indicate that somewhere there is a conversion from Unicode --> Non-Unicode (probably Latin-1 - maybe based on logon language) and this fails.
Unfortunately I am not familiar with content server - and these kind of problems are difficult to be analyzed without direct debugging on the system. Therefore I think it is the best if you raise a customer message at SAP.
Or maybe there is someone who knows content server very well and might be able to help ...
Best regards,
Nils

Filename encoding on content server
Hi experts,
In DMS we are using file system repository from the SAP Content Content installed on HP-UX. When we save files with the russian filename all symbols in the saved file are encoded with % + hexadecimal representation. So we can save files only with the short names. When we try to save file with the long filename its encoded name exceed 256 symbols limit and system give us an error.
I appreciate any suggestion or any workaround.
Best Regards
PavelThe official answer from SAP:
Content Server operates on Non unicode mode which means it cannot store
the files or documents with special characters(russian here ),Hence KPROLayer before it sends the document for Storage to the Content Server it
converts the russian file name to binary format.
During the Conversion each special(russian) is mapped to particular
format, hence after conversion the file name would be large,Since it is
a File System Repository, the operating system wont allow to create the
files larger than 255 characters.
Hence this is a limitation from Operating system, the files exceed 255
characters, it is not supported.
Even if the Content Server is based on MaxDB, the length of the
converted result is same and MaxDB also has the maximum filename
restriction of 254 characters.
If the ECC system is unicode, the length of the converted result will be
short than now (this is the behaviour in our internal system which is
unicode). This should resolve the issue, but we are not completely sure
of this.
However if you use R3 System Database, there will be no issue as
conversion does not happen there.
But with MaxDB it works. -

RakeshHi Rakesh,
You have to request you Network team to add the ip address of the machine where you have installed content server to your Exchange Server.
Let me know if it works.

Copy any kind of file from content server to network directory
Helli All
The question:
I nee to copy any kind of file from content server to any network directory.
Explanation
1. transaction CV02N
2. There is attached file for a document in tab "Document data/Original"
3. This file stored in content server
4. I wrote program code that creates path of the stored file that finally looks like
http://cont:8888/ContentServer.dll?get&Version=.....*...&compid=app1.doc
where app1.doc is file's name and I have to copy this file into network directory.
The problem is that this URL open the file instead of just pointing to him
so that no function or method can't see this file and as the result I got message that
the file doesn\t exist.
Please, advice.

Reading the Excel from Content Server...

Fetch XML from Content server to Portlet and display as HTML
Hi,
I want to fetch the XML from the content server and display that XML in the Weblogic Portlet as HTML.
The main reason is that data will be contributed by the users in UCM and then I had to get that data from content server and display in portlet
Please Help........
Thanks,
VinodVinod:
Probably what you're looking for is to bring the content over using the UCM SPI adapter for WLP's VCR:
And then to display the content using a custom template using Content Presenter:
When you say you want to fetch xml, is that because it's a contributor data file? You can either read the property values directly from the VCR, or use the info you get from the node (such as dDocName) to then use a UCM/WCM web service to retrieve formatted content and put it in an iframe. There are a lot of ways to go in formatting the data.
You can even add edit capabilities to your Presenter template by calling the 'edit data file' web service of WCM. -

Purna> I am new to SDN and SAP XI, can anyone tell me whether its possible to move the files (different strcuture files i.e. some are master data files and some are transaction data file) from FTP server to Application server with one interface.
Hello Bob,
Yes it is possible.
There can be two ways of doing it.
1. N:1 mapping, BPM will require for this.
N:1 Mapping refer this blog
IDOCs (Multiple Types) Collection in BPM
BpmPatterns CollectMerge
part1 BPM with Patterns explained Part-1
part2 BPM with Patterns explained Part-2
Second option
Create 3 scanarios in integration directory and correspondingly in integration repositoy create different data types, message types, mappings & interface mappings and then in each of scenario us different message interface and interface mapping.
> I know that if we create new configuration it will work but I question is does master data interface picks this transaction data file also.
>
If you are using N:1 scenario then use *.csv in your sender adapter under file name parameter and then all the files will be picked up from same directory.
If you are using second option (3 different scenarios) then also you can pick the different files from same directory. You will be having 3 sender adapters in this case, So, one for picking master data, and another for product data and the last one for transaction data.
So, in case of master data use "plant_*.csv" as a file name and directory name.
In case of product data, use "product_*.csv " as a file name and source directory will remain same.
similarly do it for transaction data.
So by this way all 3 sender adapters will perform their job to pick the different files from same source directory.

Create the cached response object that we will insert the content
Well you can manipulate the MIME content at runtime by using the API: CL_MIME_REPOSITORY_API. However if your content is temporary, it is more efficient to just place the content directly into the ICM cache. You don't have the overhead of having to both write and then delete it from the database. Here is an example of how you can do this:

Error when viewing documents from content server
hi all,
I have a question.
we have installed an SAP Content Server on Windows 2003 server, and have connected it to our SAP ECC 5.00 ERP. The purpose is so that documents that are attached to a transaction (through Generic Objects Services - Create Attachment), get stored onto the content server rather than the SAP database. We have done all the necessary configuration in oac0, oact, and SKPR08. We are able to attach a document to the transaction, and it gets stored onto the content server. Our issue is when viewing the attachment.
This is the error we are getting as soon as we try to view the attachment:
"Windows cannot find c:\documents and settings\<username>\SAPWorkDir\<filename>. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."
After pressing OK to the message, the system then gives this error:
"File could not be exported
Message no. SO315
Diagnosis
You have selected either the Export function or a PC document to be exported from the system. The file could not be exported to the
PC. Possible reasons:
1. The file is already open and is being used by an application.
2. The directory to which the file is to be exported is write-protected.
Procedure
In the first case, close the application.
In the second case, remove the write-protection attribute from the directory or enter another directory."
Why is the system trying to open the file from the user's C:\ drive?
Does anyone have a solution to this error?
Cheers,Hi Aleem,

Retrieving Invoice images from Content Server
Background
My problem is, that I need to retrieve images from the Content Server and save them on a local drive with a path provided by the user. Metadata that is available for the image includes Object ID and the URL to the image on the server.
However, the Object ID is not valid for DMS, so the Function Groups for this are invalid. The cl_gui_* function groups have several usable Function Modules, but the URL link provided for the image is something like this:
http://xxxxxx.xxxxxx.com:XXXX/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?get&pVersion=0046&contRep=Z2&docId=123AB1C123D12E12345.... etc.
What makes the cl_gui FM unable to work, is the :, ?, % and & characters in the string - which makes the FMs look at the URL as invalid.
I have also tried more or less the entire content of FM in the SCMS_* Function Group (containing FMs for the Content Server), but to no avail.
Question
So, now to my question: Is there any way to translate the URL provided so the cl_gui FMs can understand it? Or, should I go the other way around and fetch the Invoice Image using the provided Object ID?
All needed at my program to finish off, is a method to retrieve the given images and save them to a local path.
I hope the Guru's of the SDN will be able to help me here

Timeout when retrieving document from Content Server
Dear experts,
after the migration of an R/3 Enterprise system with a file-based Content Server (CS without database) we experience significant delays when a document shall be retrieved from the Content Server and displayed.
The repository, from which documents are retrieved, has the following properties:
Document Area = ArchiveLink
Storage Type = HTTP content server
Obviously the delay is caused by time-outs when R/3 tries to access the content sever.
The RFC trace recorded during the document retrieval contains the following entries:

I wonder why R/3 first attempts to contact the Content Server via the SAPCMS RFC destination rather than using HTTP (SAPHTTP)? - The connection tests for both RFC connections are successful.
Is there a way to instruct R/3 to go via the SAPHTTP RFC destination as the first choice and NOT via SAPCMS when documents shall be retrieved and displayed?
Thank you,
Rainer Walter
Edited by: Rainer Walter on Sep 3, 2010 3:07 PMHi Ravindra,
thank you for looking into this problem. The Content Server is not based on SAP DB/MaxDB. The repositories are represented as plain directory structures in a file system.
My issue is that R/3 is not using the SAPHTTP RFC connection as first choice although the repository is flagged as "HTTP Content Server" but uses another RFC destination instead. When this attempt is timed out, R/3 eventually picks the appropriate RFC destination. So it takes a considerable amount of time until a requested document is finally retrieved from the repository in the Content Server.
I am confused because the system where I experience this behaviour has been built from a system copy of a production system, and the Content Server for this new system has been built from scratch. In the original production system, no timeout is found when users are retrieving documents, and obviously the original R/3 system is using SAPHTTP right away. The original production system and the new system built from a system copy are accessing different Content Servers.
I am looking for a way to instruct the new R/3 system to immediately use the SAPHTTP connection when talking to the Content Server, and I would be grateful for a hint where I can configure this to get rid of these timeouts.
Best regards,
Rainer
