Filename space problem

I have Iplanet web server(iws, 6.0 SP4) talking with weblogic 6.1 (using NSAPI plug-in). the request reaches iws and is internally redirected to weblogic. the problem i have is that there is a folder in weblogic which has spaces in filenames.
When I try to access any file having spaces through Iplanet having spaces, the Get call only encodes URI with the letters of the filename till the first space and I get error back. The same problem is not seen when I access through Weblogic. Is there a know problem with Iplanet when spaces occur in URI?. how to resolve it

Is the problem in the GET request sent to iWS or in the GET request sent from iWS to WebLogic? If it's the former, make sure the URL is properly encoded in the referring page. If it's the latter, the problem is a defect in the WebLogic NSAPI plugin.

  • Space Problem in G: - after NW2004s SR1 installation on Windows 2003 server

    HI Friends,
    I have installed NW2004s SR1 on Windows 2003 server with Oracle 10g database successfully. My server has sufficient harddisk space as follows.
    C: 9.6GB
    G: 24GB
    H:64GB & I: 73GB.
    RAM is 6GB
    While installing NW2004s i have defined a paging size on C: 400MB-1600MB and
    i have set the option as System Manageble on other drives G, H& I drives. I did not get any Swap space problem while installing.
    During installation I have chosen G: drive to store MirrorlogA, MirrorlogB, Oraarch, OriglogA, OriglogB folders of Oracle for redolog archives,.Total size of all these folders is 17.4 GB
    G: drive has one more folder Program files which is of 155KB  and no other files exist in it.
    But My system says that I am running out of Space on G: drive and free space available now is only 44MB.
    My question is where has the rest 5GB of space gone? Is it consumed as a part of Paging file which i have set on this drive as System manageble??
    I have set the same option on other drives too i..e H & I. But i am not facing any space issues for these drives.
    What could be going wrong?? Please suggest me how to correct this
    Thanks

    I double-insured that there is enough disk-space and I am also in the Administrators-Group.
    Please guide me for the above problem although I have done oracle 9i database installation with the same configuration.

  • HD space problem - startup disk shouldn't be full...

    Hello everyone.
    I'm having a really weird problem with my hard drive. All of a sudden, a message popped up saying that my Startup Disk was almost full, and the system profiler read it as having "zero k". This is extremely odd because I had about 19 Gb free just a moment before, and after checking folders, apps and documents there really shouldn't be a space problem. The first message came up right after importing a CD, but that shouldn't have caused this.
    I tried deleting some items, but space increased only by that tiny amount. After a restart, the indicated hard drive space randomly jumped up to 1 Gb. When I woke it back up right now it was down to 200 Mb, and after another restart it's just come up to 650Mb. It just seems to fluctuate...
    If anyone knows what the issue might be or what I could do about it, please help! Thanks,
    silvia

    Hi. Thanks for the tip, it was really helpful. Everything was as expected except for some log files in my Library. The sizes are mostly up to 100 K except for one huge 15.9 Gb file, called console.log.2 in a strange folder called 501
    It's located in
    Library > Logs > Console > 501 >
    I'm really not sure what these files are and what they do, or what these folders are. Can I trash them or is that a problem?
    Also, I've noticed that my hard drive space is actually continuously decreasing little by little... Do you think this is related?
    Thanks,
    silvia

  • HD space problem in iMovie projects

    I'm having hd space problems with one of almost two identical iMovie projects. I'm looking for a way to reduce size (or free up space with in the overly large project.)
    Both projects were imported same...firewire from camera.
    Both are about same length...approximately 1.25 hours.
    Both have approximately same number of clips and are at the same stage in the process...some minor editing...no titles or transitions in either.
    However, one project is 14gb in size, the other is 54gb. This is obviously causing space issues with my 160gb hd. (I rarely have a project over 25gb...even with lengthier projects with titles and transitions,)
    When I view trash info for larger project in iMovie, it shows 12gb, but when I delete, space is not cleared from hd. Project size remains at 54gb.
    The only difference in projects...with larger project I copied some files from a third iMovie project that I've since deleted.
    Any thoughts on how I go free up space or reduce file size?
    I've restarted computer, deleted iMovie pref file, ran disc utility.
    I'm running latest version of Tiger (10.4.11) on eMac. iMovieHD version is 6.0.3

    I suspect that when you copied those files from the third iMovie project you brought over portions of the clips that had been edited out. For example, if you have a 20 minute clip in iMovie that you trim down to 5 minutes, the project still retains the entire 20 minutes, even though you are using only 5 minutes of it in the project. This is true even if you empty the trash. As long as any part of the clip remains in the project, the entire clip remains in storage. This is due to iMovie's nondestructive editing feature. You never lose any part of a clip that you trim off. Some or all of the clips that you copied over from the old project may have been edited that way such that you thought, for example, that you were bringing over a 5 minute clip, but actually brought over 20 minutes of material. Thus your project size is larger than needed.
    One way to get rid of the space caused by the extra 15 minutes would be to export the clip to Full Quality quicktime movie, and then substitute the Quicktime movie clip for the original clip in your project. The quicktime movie will contain only the 5 minutes used in the project and not the extra 15 minutes that the original clip carried with it. This would limit some of your ability to re-edit the new Quicktime movie clip, because you will not be able to modify or eliminate any special effects or titles that that are contained in it. Likewise, the 15 minutes that you eliminated will be lost. So keep that in mind if and when you delete the old clips. Before you export the old clips to a Quicktime movie, you want to eliminate any unwanted editing that they may contain. If these old clips contain a lot of special effects that might account for their larger size as well.
    Keep a copy of the old edited clips until you are certain that your new project is exactly the way you want it.
    Hope this helps. If your problem is not the above, hopefully others will be able to offer some helpful comments.

  • Best strategy for iPhoto Disk space problems

    My wife is a shutter bug. She has about 20000+ pictures and growing fast. She also has an HD camera.
    So, disk space is an issue for us (500G iMac)
    Current iPhoto library is big (190G) and growing fast.
    What is the best solution to solve the out "iphoto library disk space problem"?
    1. Get a really good USB drive and put the iPhoto library on that?
    2. Get a NAS drive and put the iPhoto library on that?
    3. Split the libraries and remote the old ones and keep the new one local?
    4. Another option that I am not aware of?
    I tried some tests on a nice NAS solution (Netgear ReeadyNAS Ultra) and iPhoto seems to run really slowly from the mounted NAS drive.
    Any recommendations appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    1. Get a really good USB drive and put the iPhoto library on that?
    This is the best option - be sure that the EHD is always available prior to launching iPhoto
    2. Get a NAS drive and put the iPhoto library on that?
    This will not work unless you find a NAS that uses Mac OS Extended (journaled) formatting or you make a formatting or you make a disk image and place it on the NAS
    3. Split the libraries and remote the old ones and keep the new one local?
    works but loses much of the power of iPhoto's search capability
    4. Another option that I am not aware of?
    get a bigger hard drive in your Mac

  • Filename with space problem

    Does anyone know why this code is giving me to save the file with the wrong filename? It converts spaces to + signs.
    Currently it gives the filename: "test+filename.abc"

    Hi Tom,
    I know exactly what you are looking for.
    I have implemented it in my web dynpro application.
    Here is the code which you can write in action handler of the download button:-
    This will open up a pop-up window asking user to Open/Save As/Cancel type of dialogue.
    And you need to perform String manipulation on "p_FileName" to remove all the leading, trailing and intermediate spaces in filename.
         try {
              //Get Url connection and inputStream
              l_url = new URL("<URL STRING>");
              l_urlConnection = l_url.openConnection();
              l_inputStream = l_url.openStream();
              //fill up byte array
              int l_int_arraySize = l_urlConnection.getContentLength();
              l_byteArray = new byte[l_int_arraySize];
              l_dis = new DataInputStream(l_inputStream);
              l_dis.readFully(l_byteArray);
              //reset buffers
              l_inputStream.close();
              l_dis.close();
              //Set the Resource for file
              l_resource = WDResourceFactory.createResource(l_byteArray, p_FileName, WDWebResourceType.UNKNOWN);
              l_byteArray = null;
              //Get the url of created resource
              l_str_url = l_resource.getUrl(WDFileDownloadBehaviour.ALLOW_SAVE.ordinal());
              //Call external window passing the above url
              l_win_MultiFileWindow = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createNonModalExternalWindow(l_str_url);
              l_win_MultiFileWindow.show();
         catch (Exception e) {
    Hope it helps.
    Let me know in case you need more information.

    This is an automated message from the MeetingPlace Express system with
    hostname [meeting.afgrp.com] to inform you that disk space is low.
    Details on where the problem is and how to resolve it are indicated below.
    Low space in partition /. Percent used = [90].
    The following files might cause trouble. However, inspect each one to make sure.
    Look specifically for large files with old timestamps. Also, note that some of
    the files indicated might have been previously mentioned. In this case, use the
    prior instructions to handle these files rather than the instructions below.
    If you are uncertain, contact Cisco TAC for confirmation/advice.
    For the files below, use the following procedure to empty these files rather than
       delete them outright.
             1. For each file to be emptied do:
                 cat /dev/null > <filename>
             2. After all files that you wish to empty have been emptied, do:
                 su   // Enter 'root' password.
                 mpx_sys restart
    -rw-rw-r--   1 mpxadmin mpx     283120801 Apr 11 02:00 /var/mp/ConfSchd/stdout
    -rw-r-----   1 root     root     127007041 Dec 22 05:30 /var/spool/compaq/cma.log
    In general, to free up disk space where it is uncertain exactly what files are in question,
       do the following:
    1. In general, go to places like /root, /mpxadmin, /tmp and do "ls -la" to look
         for large files. If a file is large, old, and seems like some kind of log or
         error file, it could be a candidate for deletion.
    2. Generally files of type log (*.log), stderr, stdout, or txt (*.txt) are the
         best candidates to look for. A good command to look for these types of
         files with size of 10,000,000 bytes or larger is:
           find / -name "<file type>" -exec ls -la {} ; | awk '{if( >=10000000) {print} }'
         For example, to look for all log files 10,000,000 bytes or larger on
           the entire system:
             find / -name "*.log" -exec ls -la {} ; | awk '{if($5 >= 10000000) {print} }'
    3. If you have a specific problem partition that you are trying to reduce size
         for, do the following:
         1. Find out the directory name of the top of the partition from "df".
         2. "cd" to that location.
         3. Then do: du -x -b --max-depth=1
         4. Look for the directories that are really large.
         5. Then "cd" into the worst subdirectory (or subdirectories).
         6. Get a list of all large files from current directory location and lower:
               (This example assumes 10,000,000 bytes and a check for .log files.
                   Note the starting location of '.' (current location) rather
                   than '/' (entire disk) ).
               find . -name "*.log" -exec ls -la {} ; | awk '{if($5 >= 10000000) {print} }'
    Complete output of the 'df' command:
    Filesystem           1K-blocks     Used Available Use% Mounted on
    /dev/sda1             6048320   5111204   629876 90% /
    /dev/sda6             4032092   767336   3059932 21% /common
    /dev/sda2             8064304   6492268   1162380 85% /db

    Hi Josh,
    It seems that the root partition of the MeetingPlace Express server is almost full. I have attached a document for your reference which can be used to minimize the disk space issues.
    Once the steps mentioned in the attached document are completed, run the command "df" to check the disk space.
    If you do not see much improvement in the root partition, then in that case some other files might need to be removed from the server to increase the root partition space.
    If any of the partitions reach upto 90% or above, then the server might behave unexpectedly.
    Feel free to revert if you have face any issues or have any queries.
    Regards,
    Rishabh

  • Contribute File Deployer - filename spaces cause error

    Does anyone else find that having spaces in the file name or
    path throws a deployment error? I would try to get the users not to
    use spaces, but it's hard for them to remember. I'm assuming this
    is the cause of the problems. Is there a way round this?
    (error: Failure. The deployment application failed to copy
    Libraries/About%20Us/Whats_New.aspx to the live website.
    Details:
    File to copy,
    C:\Inetpub\library/Libraries/About%20Us/Whats_New.aspx, doesn't
    exist or can not be accessed.)

    I've seen this before. The previous customer who reported it decided to fix the filenames, so the problem "went away".
    If the filename is accepted during crawling, it's definitely a bug if it causes queries to fail. Can you log an SR with support so we can get this logged properly as a bug, then we can try to get a fix for it.
    Scarbo: I believe the problem is not just around using the % as part of the query - if the document with the faulty URL (the URL being derived from the filename) is included in the result set then it will cause the failure regardless of the search expression used.

  • ParseException Content-Disposition filename spaces

    Hello All,
    I have an email generated from Thunderbird 1.5.0.9 (Windows/20061207) which contains an attachment whose filename has spaces.
    JavaMail (1.4) throws a javax.mail.internet.ParseException on the MimeBodyPart.getDisposition() call:
    javax.mail.internet.ParseException: Expected ';', got "-"
    javax.mail.internet.ParameterList.<init>(ParameterList.java:179)
    javax.mail.internet.ContentDisposition.<init>(ContentDisposition.java:87)
    javax.mail.internet.MimeBodyPart.getDisposition(MimeBodyPart.java:1039)
    javax.mail.internet.MimeBodyPart.getDisposition(MimeBodyPart.java:299) The offending attachment part has a part header which looks like this:
    Content-Disposition: inline;
         filename*0=Test - Test.pdf
    Clearly the parser is failing due to the spaces in the filename. Bugzilla for Thunderbird (Bug 221028 - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=221028) discusses this issue, however the status of the bug is VERIFIED WONTFIX.
    According to the Mozilla discussion, their implementation is conformant to the RFC:
    ...Just two days ago I was talking about this issue in #mozillazine with Christian
    Biesinger and Boris Zbarsky, and they said that this is the proper behaviour
    according to the RFC...
    Whether it IS conformant to all relevant RFCs I don't know, but it seems it won't be changed any time soon.
    This issue also exists for the Content-Type header in the same email which has the same format:
    Content-Type: application/pdf;
         name*0=Test - Test.pdfAnyone know if there is a way I can "safely" parse these headers? Is this a JavaMail bug?
    Thanks

    Absolutely, and please don't take my posting as a complaint - well over 99.9% of our emails are consumed flawlessly. I'm expressing more of (my opinion only) a high-level philosophical argument about of why I think good software (JavaMail) should try to by-default interact with not-so-good software. I'm not basing this not on "technical correctness", but rather the following unfortunate scenario:
    One particular example would be certain products made by a company with the initals "MS". These products almost always hide brokenness (they act as highly liberal consumers). Outlook, Internet Explorer, are the 2 primary examples. So a user (and unfortunately most users have never read or care about an RFC) opens the email with Outlook, or the web page with Explorer, etc. It "works". Now, we programmers certainly know better, but remember that we aren't buying or choosing products or services, we're offering them. User then opens with Java-based product (stack trace). User buys or chooses MS-based product, MS-based product retains market stranglehold, commercial email providers test their products with Outlook, and in the end, brokenness is propagated anyway. It's kind of like reverse-Darwinism for software (survival of the most-broken).
    Some customers complain that JavaMail doesn't strictly enforce every requirement of the standards
    As an SMTP producer, I might see that, but personally I can never recall seeing a single problem with outgoing email from JavaMail. As a client consumer, I'm not sure why they would take that philosophy, unless maybe they are using JavaMail to test RFC-compliance.
    there are forms of brokenness that go beyond what can be handled at the JavaMail API level.
    Of course, but I have yet to see a message that the "MS" client could not read. So perhaps they are working around some of these at a higher level (in the GUI, maybe?)
    But for developers who don't think about this problem...
    Most developers most likely aren't using JavaMail to read in over 25,000 emails a day. So admittedly, I'm in a unique situation.
    Having made that decision it's relatively straightforward to configure JavaMail appropriately. Not really, one change required updating the jar file, others require obscure uses of the API. And a developer/administrator is only going to make those changes after seeing the problem.
    to avoid propagating brokenness as you suggest.
    Brokenness will get propagated anyway (see reverse-Darwinism, or the Theory of De-evolution above).
    I'm looking forward to trying out 1.4.1, and thanks again for all the assistance, a very thorough FAQ, and overall a great API. I think the opensourcing was a good idea, JavaMail really is by far the best API that I have seen for this type of high-volume work.

  • External Hard disk has space problem for Time Machine

    Im not sure this is the right place to post this, but I've just got OSX.5 so Time Machine is new to me. I've got a 500Gb Firewire Lacie Drive which I now have, as far as I can see, about 110GB of stuff in. I have a bout 300Gb to back up. Currently my mac can only see 260GB free, which means theres about 150GB that isnt explained. I have run Disk Inventory, which shows the dot files on the drive. There seem to be hardly any. Is there anything else that could be taking up such a large amount of disk space? Theres one movie file of 28GB that I cannot move off the drive.

    Let's see what Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder) says. When it starts, click the top line for your drive in the sidebar (should have size and make), then the Partition tab. Towards the bottom is a *Total Capacity* line, followed by two different numbers: one in GB, the other in bytes. The first will be about 465 GB, the second roughly 500 billion. This is the different way of counting: decimal vs. binary.
    There's also a *Partition Map Scheme* line. This should be followed by GUID or +Apple Partition Map.+ If your drive isn't one of those, you're going to have a problem using it with Time Machine. Report back what this says.
    In the center part of the display is a diagram showing all the partitions currently on the disk. Each is represented by a box, with a name in the center, and the amount used represented by light blue shading.
    If there's only one partition, it's total size and amount available will be in the center, shown in GB.
    If there are 2 or more, click each one in turn to see it's sizes. The Total of the sizes should be almost the same as the total at the bottom (the Partition Map takes a bit of space).
    It sounds like you may have 2 partitions, one for TM backups, one for your "other stuff". If so, each partition is treated separately for most purposes: there should be two icons on your desktop and/or Finder sidebar, for example.
    Report back what you find, and whether it makes sense to you or not. Then we can figure out what's going on and what you need to do.
    But note this: This drive is a bit small to use with Time Machine. TM works best if it has 2-3 times the space of what it's backing-up, so it can keep a few months of your backups. See item #1 of the Frequently Asked Questions post at the top of this forum.
    Even if you could use the entire 465 GB or so, that's less than twice the 300 gb you want to back up. That would work, for a while, but depending on how you use your Mac, TM may not be able to keep your backups for very long.

  • Zune and reserved space problem

    Hi all, I just started using lumia 710 and finding it a great, fun and highly efficient device. One minor problem I am getting is with zune and reserved storage space.
    If I install a game/app in phone, the reserved space bar increases as expected. But the problem is that, even if I uninstall the game/app, the reserved space bar does not decrase, it stays the same as when the game/app was installed. so if i try out a few apps/ game and remove them later, i lose the equal amount of space from zune media storage. For example I tried out couple of xbox live titles and removed them later, net result --> my reserved space increased ~500mb while i lost 500mb from zune media free space.
    if anyone can help me to sort this out, I will be very much grateful.
    P.S. from phone i see i have ~ 3gb free space out of 6.28 gb. thanks

    Additionaly, I have all my music files in User/Music & in Downloads. I also see my iTunes "Media Folder" is located in User/Music/iTunes and is 20GB...the size itunes says.
