"filename" text variable acting weird

I have a weird problem with the "filename" variable, my documents have a specific name (code) that are shown via a variable in the documents (filename without the extension).
in order to print I have to place several documents together on one page, to make work easier, I place the indesign files and what do I see? in the placed documents the file extension shows up!! altough I de-select that option in my original documents... when making pdf's there's no extension to see.
anyone know a solution for this curious problem?

I've tried to "hide" the extension in finder, with no result.
it shows realy the name as used in the "Links" palette.
I've found a little workaround: search for all the indesign files in that certain folder, select them and use "a better finder rename" to delete the extensions, that works!! but then I have to re-link all the files becouse the filename isn't the same anymore ... sad...

Complex Sap text variable in WEBI with replacement path

My Output header(TEXT) in Bex as follows.

It's Completly working in Bex. I have used text variable and used replacement path to calculate the above texts.
WEBI : Even though the document from SAP says that the variables will work when it's derived through replacement path,
it's not working.

How can i achive this in webi . I saw some of the posts in SDN . They suggested to use 'USER RESPONSE' command.
Question 2 :
Assume we are using USER RESPONCE , when the current QTR = 2013Q1 . How can we derive the previous 8 Qtr 's , because
every Qtr the values are changing .

Replace Filename text by start/end position?

I could do this in php, but I know nothing of applescript. The main function I need is PHP's substr_replace, to rename files in a passed array, by start/end string positions, with passed text.
Basically I'm looking for an applescript function to add to an Automator workflow, that will replace filenames with text, by character position. The applescript function would have 4 parameters, (files:Array, startPosition:int, endPosition:int, replaceWith:String). The first is an array of the files passed by Automator's "Get Selected Files" func, then the starting and ending positions for what is to be replaced, finally followed by the string to replace with.
So something like,
function renameFilenamesByPosition(files, startPos, endPos, replaceWith)

Any help in coming up with an applescript that I can do this, and be inserted into an Automator workflow, is MUCH APPRECIATED!! I often have files with number tags, that I'd like to have removed.

I had a substring handler that converted fairly readily, but I was looking for something more general-purpose to put into an Automator action. Using an action is good for making the interface not quite so ugly, but there is a bit more to do to make sure it is robust enough to take whatever the other actions can throw at it. I finally decided on an action that trimmed an adjustable number of characters from the beginning or end, with an option to add a text variable - something that the existing rename doesn't do.
As for my replacement handler, the main difference is that it uses the normal AppleScript index ranges, and the index items can also be text strings. There is also a bit more code to take care of stuff like negative or swapped indexes (yours definitely doesn't like that). It does work differently than the PHP function, which is probably not what you were looking for.

InDesign CS6 text frames acting wonky

I started a brand new document. Some text has been copy/pasted from CS4 documents or Word but all of it is acting weird. If the text frame is less than 7.4375 in wide, then it breaks and reflows at odd points and I can't seem to get the frame to end where I want it to.
I don't know where to look to fix whatever setting is doing this.
Above: Text frame at margin width less than size noted above. but when the frame is extended to the margin height, it breaks the text and doesn't keep it where I want.
Below: Text frame at 7.4375 in wide. It will break at different places and show all that's supposed to be in the frame

First, show non-printing characters so you can look for non-breaking spaces. Next check for a long string of text to which No Break has been applied (if you make the frame narrow and the text goes into overset, it's easiest to find these problems by looking at the first bit of text past the overset indicator in the Story Editor). The next possibility, which would be reinforced by large changes in where the text goes into overset whenyou adjust the frame heith only slightly, is that there are keep options applied that prevent ID from fitting all of the required text into the remaining space in the frame.

Text variable placeholder display

Not too many people will be familiar with both Mac and Windows incarnations of CS3, so this might not be a known issue (then again, I just might have missed previous discussions). Placeholders for Text variables are displayed on master pages as "<Name of variable>" on my Windows machine. If I open that same file on any one of our Macs, they are displayed as "" -- that's right, a tiny tiny dotted rectangle, with no recognizable text. Is that just all of our Macs (4 of them), or is the Mac community missing out on this rather important hint? If the latter, do they care? ;-)

Sorry, Haeme, it's not i literally a ""-thingy. Sometimes I forget not everyone is a programmer -- it's an empty string, zero characters. With invisiblies on I can see a thin, tall, blue dotted rectangle. (walking 'round to a random Mac:) Just (double) checked. It has nothing to do with Windows files, an entirely new file does the same. Some further details: it only happens with Running Headers, which kinda makes sense, as the other types immediately display a value (Filename, Output Date, and the like). But I'd think that's what the <Placeholder> was for; to see i something there. If I just could remember how to make a screen shot on OSX (wait, I got it ...) <img src="http://www.jongware.com/binaries/weirdvariable.png" />

Text variable for Fiscal year/period

Hi gurus,
We are on BI 7.0 (PL 15). In G/L i am using the standard 0FISCPER text variable 0T_FPERF in the columns, which should e.g. produce the text "04.2008".
However instead it displays "4 .0800". Adding Fiscal year/period 0FISCPER to drilldown shows a correct format in the rows "APR.2008", so the problem seems to be only with the text variables.
I have checked on a reference 7.0 system where the same variable is working fine, so i assume that some fix must be available. Any hints as to what should be performed to correct this display error?

I had a similiar problem with indicators in BEX. I had an numerical indicator that displays me value in a very weird way.
My solution was to upgrade my frontend, with SAP Business Explorer patch.
Have you got the latest BEX patch (or others) on your frontend? No guarantees that will solve your case, but for me it worked

What is the include for text variable?

Dear Friends
I am trying to add a customer exit for text variables.
I have done variable exits for things like fiscal period but not for customer exit TEXT variables.
I could not find any text variable code in the include ZXRSRU01 .
Please advise what should be the program name?
Is it found in a different include?

Customer exit for text variables is also the same how we create customer exits for characterisitics variable. As per the clarity what i got from ur question.
I'll just explain a small program in customer exits which will act as a text variable.
Go to SE38 -->
Display the program ZXRSRU01 --> (This can be done only if you have added the enhancement of the system from CMOD)
Then add ur following case statement to the existing code.
After all the data declarations start ur main program
when 'YEAR_CUST'.

Iterate through all dynamic text variables

Hello,
I'd like to be able to iterate through all of the dynamic
text variables in my flash movie, and I'd like it so that if I add
new text to this movie, it will show up in the iteration.
Essentially, I want to do something like this:

While this seems to print out all the variables in root, it
prints more than just the dynamic text variables, and also doesn't
iterate down through various objects to find the dynamic text
variable.
Is there any way I can accomplish this in action script?

There are still two weird issues.
1) the test for tl[obj].text seems to always turn out to be
false. However, if I trace the value of text, I'll see the text.
Example:
trace(tl[obj].text); // This will display the value in the

Any ideas?
The 2nd issue might be more difficult - some of my text
objects don't appear until later in the movie (i.e. frame 10). It
sort of looks like this looping doesn't see objects that appear in
the future. Do I need to advance the frame 1 by 1 and repeat this
looping process until the text appears? Maybe instead I can always
have the text in the first frame, but have it be invisible or
something?

Standard keyboard is acting weird!

Just recently my keyboards been acting weird. Most annoying of the problems is when I am pressing delete and it gets to the end of the word and then inserts another word instead of deleting! At first I thought I was knocking letters around the delete button and the predictive text was inserting them but I've been very precise pressing the delete button and still it inserts words. Anyone else had this?

I'm new into posting to this forum, but I always come here when I need some answers and I find them almost everytime.
But now I couldn't find a solution for my problem so I decided that maybe you can help me.
I'm using BEx Broadcaster (I'm working on a SAP BW 7.0, SP17) to broadcast to SAP Portal some Excel files generated from a query.
I use Filter Navigation, because the query provides me with information regarding Sales Orders from all my customers and I need to broadcast an Excel file per customer. This is working perfectly, meaning, with this query I put the Broadcaster generating an Excel file per Customer.
The problem is that I needed that each Excel file had a different name on it.
For example, for Customer1 the Excel file name should be something like Customer1_SalesOrder.xls, for Customer2 it should be Customer2_SalesOrder.xls and so on.
At the present, the Broadcaster generates each Excel file using the technical name of the Query that originated the file. You can use some stardard text variables that broadcaster has available, but these standard text variables don't solve my problem. I needed to create my own Text Variables so I could have the Customer ID on the file name.
Can someone give me a light on this?

I have a similar requirement, where I publish my reports on to the SAP PORTAL KM folders.
In my broacast setting for the web templates, I have the fisrt tab called
TARGET in PORTAL
File Name : ReportXX MONTHLY_<MONTH_ID> (F4) List
Currently I use the sys variable <MONTH_ID> which gives me the curr month;
My requirement is
If the report is run in the first week of the month, I want to generate a filename_PREVIOUS MONTH (label) and
if the report is run between 7th-30th of the month then to generate a filename_CURRENT MONTH (label)..
On BI.7 POTAL is it possible using some exit variables instead of the system variable which are given in the F4 List.
If so where do I create the exit variable in BW backend or the PORTAL itself so that I can access it from the F4list of of the filename column.

My MacBook was acting weird so I restarted it and when I login a white screen flashes and goes back to the login page. Help?

My MacBook was acting weird like sometimes I would log on and I wouldn't be able to type my password for a couple seconds,but it usually logged in after that. Then I left my computer open after installing the recent update after that all my applications were not responding. So I shut it down, when I turned it back on about an hour later it went to this loading screen and then to the login like usual. After I tried logging in a white screen flashed and it went back to the login/ password screen like nothing happened. Any ideas on what happened and what I can do to fix it?

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Error in creating Text Variable

Hi Gurus,
I have one requirement to create a text variable for the user & the user wants to put the description as input to the variable.
But when i am creating the variable,the variable type "characteristic Value" is by default selected and i am also unable to change the variable type to text variable.
Please any body have the solution to resolve the error.

Hi,
Just select a particular key figure and on the right side you will see its properties..
Now just besides the description of the key figure you will find a symbol for create variables, just click on that.. It will create a text variable...

0FISCPER text variable "External Characteristic Value Key" has changed

Could somebody help and tell, why in BI7.0 version (but 3.x RRMX version) the format of the 0FISCPER text variable (also other time characteristics) has changed from 001.2007 (version 3.x) to 0/1 .0700 (version 7.0)?
I cannot understand the logic of the new Exterternal characteristic calue key. What can I do about it?

I figured out myself the reason for the problem: in the new version the fiscal year variant has to be defined in report so that the 0FISCPER would work.

When i try to create Text variable for 0calDay.. the variable type is characteristic by Default and disabled.
How can i create text variables related to 0CalDay with which i need to work in Customer Exit.

You have to create characteristic variable processing by Customer Exit by considering 0CalDay as a Reference Characteristic
After creation of the above variable, you restrict your KF with the above created variable.
Now you can create a Text variable for the description of your KF. This way it works...........
