Filenames when exporting

When I export images or batch export images, Fireworks always
renames
them with all lowercase letters. I don't want this, I want it
to keep
the same format as the original file. I can't see anyway to
do this,
does anyone know how to cure this?
Cheers,
Steve

You can save as BUT you wont' get the same file size. Save or
Save AS
will retain or reserve file space for meta data. So your
files will be
about 13 k larger than if you had exported them. Also, if you
save as
BEFORE you export, the meta data is not stripped during
export (a known
bug).

  • Adding sysdate to filename  when exporting to csv in Apex V3.0.1 using IE6

    Hi,
    I have created an application item (AI_DTTIME), together with an application computation that fires on before-header that is set-up as follows:
    TO_CHAR(sysdate, 'DDMMYYYY HH24:MI') ||'.'
    Within the report addtributes on a page under "Report Export", within the filename, I assigned &AI_DTTIME.
    When I go to test it by clicking on the link label, it seems to assign a number to the filename, such as 40.csv. Each time I clink on the link label, the filename value simply increments to the next value, i.e 41.csv
    Can anyone see what I may be doing wrong or how to apply the sysdate to a filename under "Report Export".
    Thanks.
    Tony.

    Hi Tony, Hi Andy
    I have a similar functionality to achieve by adding sysdate of filename when exporting to csv, adding wthr this csv is in dev or prod,URL of this report and it is powered by xyz company
    I have created an application item same as andy did and the application computation with computation item AI_DTTIME, computation point - Before Header, computation type - static assignment and computation - TO_CHAR(sysdate, 'DDMMYYYY HH24MI') ||'.'
    After that in report-export filename i added the address of my application item i.e &AI_DTTIME
    but when i am trying to export my report to csv the header is coming with " TO_CHAR(sysdate,'DDMMYYYY HH24MI')_' "
    Can you suggest where i am wrong?

  • Use Metadata Title as Filename When Exporting

    Is there a way to use the metadata title as the export filename when exporting ?? If not, there should be !

    It already can do this. Simply go into the list of filename presets, choose Edit, and built your own preset - making sure to include "Title" from the top Metadata drop down list somewhere in your renaming pattern.

  • Filename when exporting from ReportViewerBean

    I'm using Crystal Reports for Eclipse 2.0 in a desktop application and ReportViewerBean is used for previewing reports. The export-dialog have several file formats and they all work fine but one annoying thing is that the filename is blank, so one have to write the filename/filextension manually before exporting to file.
    Is there a way in the code to specify what filename a report should get when exporting?
    I'm probably missing something here...
    I've searched through the forums and code examples but have not found anything about this.
    Thanks in advance

    To be clear, are you looking to have the Save As field in the export dialog box populated with a report name when you export the report?
    When exporting from the viewer it isn't possible to do this, however if you export directly using the SDK, you can set the report name and path to whatever you like and automatically export to that location.

  • Keep Red Filename when exporting to QT

    I have a lot of Red Footage which I need to trim/color correct in FCP. I use log and transfer window to ingest the footage and then Export > Quick Time to 1080p.
    The problem is, I have to maintain the original filename for future reference.
    Is there a way to keep the original file name when exporting?
    When I export, it ask me for the file name as "save as" and it puts "Sequence 1" by default in. Is there any way to override that and put the original file name in?

    Yes, thank you, I know about the voodoo to get things out to Compressor. Must be a sequence in the main sequence folder in the bin to work voodoo thing.
    I think my problems are systemic as now compressor will not launch. I have been having nothing but problems since I installed 10.4.10. First all my Office programs would not launch then I actually installed OS 10.4.10 several times rebuilding my system by archive and installing 10.4.8 and then using the combo installer from there. I thought I had a stable system but I guess I will have to revert to 10.4.9 or reinstall compressor or Quick Time or FCP Studio or.......ARRGGHHHH?
    I though that the dialog was amusing in the extreem! It wasn't "Sequence has no media" it was:
    "No Movie in File" Of course there isn't any movie in the file you didn't put the movie into a file....sheesh. Anyway I'll post again.

  • Adding zeros to filenames when exporting in Lightroom "Filename-001" "Fliename-002" etc?

    Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to add zeros before numbers when exporting files eg: "Filename-001" "Fliename-002" etc? The default setting is "Filename-1" "Filename-2" ect. The reason I want to have zeros in the number sequence is that certain software will display files in the wrong numerical sequence eg: "Filename-1" "Filename-10" Filename-11" etc and then "Filename-2" after "Filename-19". If zeros are added the files will always be displayed in the correct sequence "Filename-001" "Filename-002"... "Filename-009" "Filename-010" "Filename-011" etc.

    Just customize the filename using the template editor, and use the Sequence token set to the number of leading zeroes you want, as shown.

  • Retain Filename when Export Trim

    I often use the trim function in Quicktime X.
    To view a video, I open it up and sometimes I need to make it shorter.
    The I use trim and export back to the folder I had the original clip so that it over writes it.
    My problem is, that I need the original file name. When I export, it always wants to save it as "untitled".
    So I have to go back-and out of QT click on the clip in the folder>copy and then paste in the export window.
    Lot of work. (My filenames are 16 Digits-to long to type every time)
    Any way to set it to the original file name?

  • Illustr. CS5 Appending -01 onto filenam when export .jpg

    Hi, I'm having two really annoying problems when I export images from Illustrator CS5.
    Problem no.1
    Anytime I export an image file, Illustr always appends -01 onto the end of the filename even into an empty folder. Never had this problem before. I'm on Lion. Anyone think it may have to do with that?
    Prob no.2
    Also, is there a way to make Illustrator default to having the "Use Artboard" checked the Export dialogue?? It's so annoying having to check that everytime I need to export an image, which for producing comps is ALL the time.

    You know what,... you're absolutely right. It wouldn't make sense when there are several artboards. Right now I'm just hammering on this project and the sketch phase is just taking forever, using [one] artboard for each file. Just needed to quickly pump out a bunch of comps. [probably a better way to do it].
    It makes sense that exporting artboards should be numbered for you BUT if exporting only one, you'd think the system would be smart enough NOT to throw a number on the end. Whatevs.
    I should have thought of this before I posted, but I just remembered I could have been using the save-for-web dialogue. THAT remembers exactly where you last exported to. Yea, Mac has recent places too, shoulda thought of that as well...
    Theyve obviously thought this thru more than me...   Thanks a million for your help!!

  • Unable to create "filename" when exporting to SD disk from iphoto 7.1

    I recently upgraded from iphoto 4 to 7. I did do because when I tried to export to a SD disk, I kept getting the unable to create message on various photos. I did the upgrade to 7 and I am still seeing this error message. Has anyone else run across this one?

    George:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try exporting to a folder on the Desktop and then copy the folder to the SD memory card. Also make sure there are no unusual/unsupported characters in the file names, i.e. anything other than 0-9, a-z, _, -. The format of the memory cards, PC based, does not accept those unusual characters. If there are a lot of special characters in the file names, you can batch change the title of the files with the Photos->Batch Change menu option. Then select the option during export to use the title as the new file name.
    Happy Holidays
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Write filename somewhere in a PDF when exporting from InDesign?

    Is there a way, when exporting a PDF from InDesign, to somewhere/somehow auto-embed the filename into the resulting PDF? Doesn't need to be "visible" in the job, but needs to be accessible somehow. I'm working with a very difficult client who changes PDF names and then, months later, sends the PDF back with revisions and I have no idea which file the original PDF was created from. I know I can manually enter this information, but I'm looking for a more automated way to do this?
    Regards,
    Kristin.

    Put this script into a folder "Startup Scripts" inside your scripts folder. It auto-updates the document metadata every time you save a document. This automatically is saved in an exported PDF.
    //InxAfterSafe.jsx
    //An InDesign CS3 JavaScript
    #targetengine "session"
    //Creates a simple event listener.
    main();
    function main()
    var myEventListener1 = app.addEventListener("afterSave", setMetadata, false);
    var myEventListener2 = app.addEventListener("afterSaveAs", setMetadata, false);
    function setMetadata()
    var myFileName = app.activeDocument.name.replace(/\.indd$/i, "");
    app.activeDocument.metadataPreferences.documentTitle = myFileName;
    app.activeDocument.metadataPreferences.copyrightNotice = myFileName;
    app.activeDocument.metadataPreferences.jobName = myFileName;

  • What is the difference between formats when exporting playlists in iTunes?

    The available options are plain or unicode text, XML, M3U and M3U8 when exporting a playlist. Is there a difference in "functionality" of a particular format or is it merely a matter of compatibility with a particular platform or software? In particular I am trying to figure out if a playlist from iTunes would be able to be read and "processed" on a flash drive plugged into a late model car stereo which has a USB port.
    MacBook 4,1    (13-inch Early 2008)
    OSX 10.6.8
    iTunes 11.3.1 (2)

    .m3u8 should be the same as .m3u but with slightly different handling of Unicode characters that fall outside of the standard set of ASCII symbols. iTunes can import and export all three formats but .m3u is probably the one your car stereo will be looking for. iTunes will export a playlist with absolute file paths for each track however for your purpose what you probably need is all of the tracks placed in the root of the drive and to edit the .m3u file to exclude all but the filename so that a relative link from the same folder as the .m3u identifies the file.
    I wrote a Windows only script for this task a while back, as discussed here: Re: Copying playlist to USB ?

  • Regarding Issue when Exporting the Output of the Discoverer Report to Excel

    Hi,
    Can Any of you guys help me out in this issue. I am exporting the Discoverer Report Output to Excel sheet, I am able to export but while I am opening the excel sheet I am getting an error saying "UNABLE TO READ FILE".
    Please help me out in this Issue, it is so urgent.
    Thanks in Advance..
    Raja.

    Hi,
    Is there any way to export the output of scheduled Discoverer Reports to a particular server using Discoverer plus.Only by openning and exporting each report manually.
    is there any way to get the output name in a particular syntax. I want to concatenate date in the output name.Only by entering the filename when you do the export.
    The best way to do this is to use Discoverer Desktop and a third party scheduler. Then you can export all your reports automatically and define the filename used in the output. Search this forum for more information on third party schedulers.

  • How to keep User Order when exporting a collection?

    I made a collection of about 300 VC's, chosen from many folders in my catalogue. These images were taken over a 10 year period, using 3 different cameras and having different names and file types. The collection was sorted by "User Order". I spent a good deal of time organizing the collection so that the images made visual sense when shown as a slide show on a digital album.
    I exported the collection to my hard drive as jpegs, and checked the box to place them back in my catalogue, in a designated subfolder within my parent folder. All went well except they are now completely out of order, and that order makes no logical sense whatsoever - not by date, metadata, filename, attributes, nothing that I can figure out. I have to start all over again to reorder them - something that will take several hours.
    What did I do wrong? How can I keep my designated user order when I export a collection?
    I am using LR 4.3.
    Thanks for your replies.

    sunhotmoon wrote:

    Hi Rene,
    Lightroom does not maintain user order upon exporting. It would make no sense when not exporting back to catalog, but when exporting back to catalog I can see that it may be desirable - consider making a feature request (Idea) here:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/new
    In the mean time, I *think* what most people do to assure export ordering is to name the files according to desired order, then sort by filename. I could be wrong about that, but that's all I got.
    Beware: If said approach is adopted, one would not be able to do incremental exports and maintain such ordering (e.g. when single image added to publish service), so all files would need to be re-exported if such change was made.
    I have requested access to sort order and added-order via plugin for plugin-assisted remedy, but so far no go.
    Another idea (which may not be acceptable) is to use capture-time to maintain sort order of exported photos (via a plugin like Exportant), then it would be easy enough to maintain user order by manipulating capture time (of exported photos I mean, post-export), but then you'd lose the true capture-time, granted: capture time could be put into some other field, but that might foul things up downstream... hmm - sorry for rambling/brain-storming out loud.
    Maybe somebody else has a better idea.

  • Cannot overwrite PDF when exporting to Acrobat from InDesign CS6

    When exporting to Acrobat Pro X from InDesign CS6, there are times when I want to overwrite an exising file but I get an error msg that the file is in use (it is not--this even happens when I have closed the file and quit Acrobat) or i don't have permission. In the Info panel at the Finder, i see that "myusername (ME)" does have permission to read and write this file. As a test, I also changed the permissions for Admin and Everyone to Read & Write, but that did not help. I've checked Preferences in both InDesign and Acrobat Pro anc can't find a relevant setting.
    To save the file with the same filename as the pre-exisitng PDF, I have to close the pre-exisitng PDF and move it to the trash.
    I have no problem overwriting a PDF document from Acrobat. This only happens when I am exporting from ID.
    I am on a Mac running the latest version of OSX.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Carol Gunn

    Make sure that the PDF you are trying to overwrite is not selected in your finder. I've found that if it's selected in the finder then the preview tricks Indesign into thinking the file is busy

  • Finding original filename from exported renamed jpeg

    Typically I import over 1,000 images from a job into a project.
    I edit and export around 500 final images as jpegs renamed sequentially for my client.
    My client asks for say a colour version of a particular black & white image but the file info on my clients image does not contain any reference to the original filename.
    Is there any way to include the original filename in exif data when exporting the images from Aperture?

    There's a simpler method which you might consider using.
    What file naming convention are you using on import? Why not rename your camera files on import into Aperture something like " dateclient_joboriginalfilename ". You could then either use that, or export with that name plus a sequential numbering scheme.
    Or -- the same as Viren's excellent suggestion -- select all the files you are going to export, create duplicate versions, with the duplicates still selected create a new Album containing all of them, then use Aperture to rename the Versions prior to export and export using the Version name. Versions don't use much space (they are text files), and you end up with an Album of neatly numbered Versions of just the photos you've given to your client +with the file names of their files exactly the same as your Aperture Version names+.
