FileReference.save() file type filter options?

OK, I’m loving the new access to the FileReference class to load and save XML to the user’s local drive without sending out for pizza first, but I have one minor complaint:
FileReference.browse() lets me filter the read choices to xml files only, so I can strongly encourage the user to only open files with the proper extension, however, FileReference.save() doesn’t seem to support similar filtering, so the user can save data with any old extension, making it easy for them to accidently hide the saved file from the open dialog box. Am I missing something or is there a user friendly way to match read/write file types.

I don't believe you can get that functionality using FileReference in Flash Player.

  • Specify file type filter in FileReference.save

    Is there a way to specify the file type filter in FileReference.save()?  It is possible to specifiy a default filename, but the user can potentially override this and the file type extensation can be lost.
    Any other options to work around this, ?

  • I want to download and install adobe flash player. When I do so one occur. A dialog box appears but it has no run option but a save file or cancel option.

    # Question
    I want to download and install adobe flash player. When I do so one of 2 things occur. A dialog box appears but it has no run option but a save file or cancel option. The other is if the proper dialog box appears, I agree and the a different box appears and there is foxfire with a red circle with a diagonal line across is appears.

    I find the easiest way to install Adobe Flash is to use the manual installers. You just need to download the installer to your computer, then run it to install Flash. For more details see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller
    That link states you should uninstall earlier versions, as you don't have the version of Flash used by Firefox you can skip that step.

  • File Type Filter: No video filetypes?

    I upgraded from LR2 to LR3 as soon as they emailed beta testers telling us it was available.
    When in beta I never really played with the video functionality - I wish I did so I could give feedback earlier - I am quite dissapointed in video support.
    None of my videos will play within lightroom itself (like their demo videos show) - it always opens them in Quicktime. Video files are from a 5D MKII and I am on a Mac running 10.6.
    I could live with that - but honestly the file type filter doesn’t display video filetypes? This means I can't create a smart collection based on filetype to see all my videos. What gives? I thought it would at least do that.
    I have resorted to adding a "video" keyword to all of my video files - but has anyone else noticed this oversight?

    The videos have never played within LR, only within the defalt video player for that file type.
    There is a video selection in the file type filter.  Don't know why you haven't seen it.

  • Using Sothink video downloader, normally video files are save in FLV extension. Now for whatever reason suddenly my video files are save in .ebm extension. "Save file Type As" is peg only on .EBM extension

    Using Sothink video downloader, normally by default my video files are save in FLV extension. Now for whatever reason suddenly my video files are save in .ebm extension & I can't open my video file. "Save file Type As" -to select file extension does not seem to work -

    It's a WEBM video file. My solution was to rename the file to have .webm extension, and play it with the latest VLC Player (2.1, but I think any from 1.1 and upper will solve it too). Just associate .ebm with VLC didn't work. I had to rename the files so VLC knew exactly what that thing was.
    By the way, it worked the same way with a .eam file (!), I just renamed the extension to .webm.

  • PDF to Excel - Save As File Type - No Options

    When I am attempting to save my converted file, I do not get any options to save it as a file type...literally "Save As Type" is blank and there are no options to choose anything.
    So if I save it without that to my desktop, it then won't open to anything usable. Please advise.

    Hi there,
    Basically what's happening is that your browser is not recognizing the mime-type of the file.  You'll need to manually append the .xlsx (or .docx for Word) extension to your file while saving it.

  • File type filter mystery

    I am filtering by file type because I want to make sure all of my RAW (NEF) files are converted to DNG. When I now filter by RAW within the file type I have 467 files there. These files are DNG files and I cannot figure out why they are showing up as RAW's. How can I fix this? With my workflow I should not have any RAW files in Lightroom...
    Thanks,
    KEvin

    I have seen this probllem of misreporting DNG files as  raw, but it was quite a while ago (LR2) and think it only happened when the Convert to DNG command was used. There must be a bug in there, but I've not been able to recreate the problem recently. For a quick fix, I'd suggest saving the metadata back to the files, then removing and re-importing them (using the Folders Synchronise command if they are in lots of folders). Hopefully you've not too much stacking or collections assigned to these pictures.

  • How do you set default save file type

    My Photoshop when I choose save as is choosing TIF as the default file type after opening a raw file. I want to choose PSD as the default. I cannot figure out how to change the setting to raw.

    Hi, Unfortunately, Photoshop will chose a format that fits the minimal requirements of a file according to the absence/presence of layers.
    You could go to the feedback website, http://feedback.photoshop.com and ask for a preference to set the default file type.

  • Feature Request: AME Watch Folders file type filter

    Hi,
    maybe I'm posting it to the wrong forum. If so, maybe some moderator can move this thread to the correct forum.
    I'm exporting Quicktime Reference files from Avid, which creates two files: .mov and. wav. Since I'm exporting it to Watch Folder AME automatically converts the wav also. But would be useful to "tell" AME only convert files with mov extension. It's of course possible later to erase encoded sound files but would be convinient to point out only the file types which require converting.
    thank you,

  • Change default save file type to gif

    I've seen people submit some solutions but it requires changing codes of the files.... is there a simpler way to do it? I don't understand why it's saving as a jpg file... the older versions used gif as the default for save as web...

    That is odd. What version of Ps are you using? Both CS6 and CC 2014 hold the last used format (GIF) for me.. First, try holding Alt (Win) or Opt (Mac) with Save For Web open - the "cancel" will become a "reset" button. Now try again. Also, when you press Alt/Opt you should see the "done" will become a "remember."

  • Grab auto-save file type locked by Acrobat Pro?

    I have tried using the posted command line in Terminal on both my iBook and G4 (both running 10.3.9) to get Grab to go back to saving screen shots as .jpg's, but it does not work. Ever since installing Adobe Acrobat Pro 6.0.0 both machines are saving screen shots only as .pdf's. In addition (and I have looked through all the AAPro preferences to see if there is something to 'turn off' - there isn't), AAPro has inserted toolboxes into all Office programs and I cannot get this to stop either. I've tried moving AAPro out of the applications folder, but this has had no impact. Any suggestions on a workaround?

    Aha! Thanks. "PDFMaker Lib" was the file inside the Office folder. If that does not fix it I will search deeper into the folders for the culprit.
    Still cannot switch Grab back to saving as .jpg vs. .pdf, using that command line in Terminal. Any suggestions on that issue? Do you suspect Acrobat Pro is involved due to the fact that this problem started about the same time?

    Acrobat Pro puts a file in a folder in the Office
    directory that causes the Acrobat Pro tool boxes to
    appear. Moving this
    file will stop it from coming up. The folder is
    called Extensions, or Add-ons, or Plug-Ins or

  • Java.util.zip: how to save file type

    HI,
    I have a written a program that zips PDF files and sends them as an attachment via email. This have been running daily for the last 1.5 years with no problems. Recently, some email providers have been striping the attachments or refusing the email, because I have used two file suffix on the attachment, e.g report.pdf.zip. I did this so that when the file is unzipped the .pdf extension remains and file is recognised, otherwise the document is treated as plain text or unknown format. How can I include the filetype in the zipped file, so that I can have report.pdf become report.zip, then when the user unzips the file has report.zip become report.pdf. I know the filetype is stored in the zip header, but I don't know how to do this using java.util.zip. Any help would be appreciated.
    Mike

    You see, zip files are inherently dumb. They don't "actually" have a file system in the strictest sense. The zip file format merely associates a String ID with some bytes. It's all on the client side where the magic happens. if I have three zip entries in a file, these are the entry names.
    1.) somedir/myfile.txt
    2.) someotherdir/myfile.txt
    3.) README
    when a client "unzipper" see these names, it realizes that "/" is a directory separator, so it makes the appropriate directories and places the bytes into files of that given name.
    So all you should have to do is make the zip entry with a name that ends in .pdf The client should do the rest.

  • Translation keys for 'save as type' in 'save as...' dialog

    Hi all,
    I am currently working on a custom "save as..." dialog using the ISaveFileDialog interface.
    On a certain point I have to insert the various types to which you can save an object.
    In an AddType() method I get a ISaveFileDialog *dlg as a parameter. After that I want to add the types to the 'save as type' filter.
    I want the types to be translatable if you change the language of InDesign.
    My problem is that I can only find InCopy related translation keys, such as "InCopyInterchange" and "InCopyInterchangeTemplate"
    and I can not find any keys for translating an InDesign docuement (idd) and InCopy Template (indt) format string.
    Thing as
    PMString inDesignDoc( "InDesign Document" );
    inDesignDoc.Translate();
    PMString inDesignDoc( "InDesign Template" );
    inDesignDoc.Translate();
    do not work.
    Can someone please help me on this?
    Thanks in advance

    Unfortunately (and I don't understand why) Adobe does not publish all their string key constants for plug-in developers to use. There is a small subset in SDKdef.h lines 238 - 257, but the rest is for you to supply.

  • How to add file type fiter in FileUpload component in Java Web Dynpro

    Hi All,
      In FileUpload UI, i want to set file type filter, for example as *.PDF, *.JPG, is that possibel in Java WebDynpro?
    Thanks a lot!
    Huang Jia

    hi!
    you can achieve this filter thing of file type by just taking some strings for diffrent types as extension and assign those to the resource type .
    eg.
    String extension = ".doc";
    WDWebResourceType.getWebResourceTypeForFileExtension(extension));

    I'm not sure of the solution on Windows. But this worked for me on Linux.
    I needed to edit mimeTypes.rdf
    See the links below for details. The first one was someone having a problem with Transmission. I was having a problem with ktorrent, so I just adapted that. If you're having a problem with a different file type, then you'll need to adapt it differently. But the general idea is the same.

    Also, I suspect that FlashGot or some similar download manger plugin was responsible for screwing this up. I haven't confirmed it yet, but I've seen some things that make me suspect it.
