Files are Always Thumbnails When Searching

When I am in Photoshop and I go to File-Open-My Documents-My Pictures, all the folders and files in My Pictures are always Thumbnails, no matter how many times I change it back to List Mode. This does not happen when I open this folder in Windows Explorer. How can I save it to open in List Mode, within Photoshop?

That would be the Adobe dialog, and I'm sorry I didn't realize earlier that they don't provide a List View (I didn't actually try it). Embarrasingly, I just assumed they did. I do know that the settings "stick" with the Adobe dialog.
So we're back to wondering why, with the OS dialog, your XP system is defaulting to Thumbnails view instead of List view like virtually all other XP systems.
Have you ever installed anything or changed configuration (e.g., in the registry) in an attempt to change the view in Explorer file dialogs? I have heard of patches to the common dialog handling code in Windows that could possibly do this.
What size and date do you see for this file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\COMDLG32.DLL

From the Finder menu select 'Secure Empty Trash'. If this or the suggestion above doesn't resolve the problem take a look at the various suggestions in this link:

Is there some secret to getting Pentax K-3 .dng files to display thumbnails when importing to an iPad (mini w/retina)? Files import fine, but no thumbnail. Mac OS has compatability with those files.

I agree Terrance. However, I was able to copy other large batches of other files (my music for example) without any issues. The issue only showed up when copying iPhoto's library and/or the photos themselves. This was repeated 3 times; I copied all my other files to the drive then it unmounted on iPhoto. And, as I said, again when I started with a fresh reformat and just iPhoto. That does not seem like hardware to me if it is only happening with one set of files.
I have managed to get the iPhoto library to work on my other external drive. It wanted a rebuild twice and a thumbnail rebuild once. I am now attempting to copy it over to the new HGST internal drive.
Anyone have a suggestion for alternatives to iPhoto? I have aperture, maybe I will try that. But from what I understand, it just shares the same library as iPhoto.

Well My problem is that jspf files are not interpretated when included

          printed as such?

          When used as variable names in a jspf file and included they are
          misinterpreted. This is not the case in a jsp file.
          Its clearly a bug in BEA, but I replaced all occurrences and worked
          myself around it.

Have you checked that the document is using the exact same font on both machines? If the second machine doesn't have the font installed that's used in the original document on the first machine, Word will pick the closest matching font, and that may
display slightly differently.

Actually it is easier than I thought. It is H264 but the wrapper is m4v. You can just change that in the finder to .mov and drop it into iDVD. iMovie will send it to iTunes so just right click on it in iTunes and select reveal in finder and then copy/paste to desktop and change to .mov. Then drag into iDVD. Really easy.

My Word files are corrupted. When I open 'Get Info' then 'More Info' I find 'Photos for Personal Use or Home Display' and 'Authors' : Technology. - Nothing to do with the file I'd just written. My most recent files can't be saved or opened.
Is this Malware or some other kind of attack? I grabbed photos yesterday from what seem to be freely available pictures online. I discovered Firevault and Firewall were both turned off. (I hadn't checked before.) Any suggestions?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

How to disable annoying thumbnails when searching in preview

Open a PDF in Preview.
Search for something.
The annoying thumbnails appear, shrinking your page size or covering something else on your desktop.
I want to compare pdfs side-by-side, and the stupid thumbnail trough makes the window too wide.
How do you disable preview from popping out the thumbnail panel when searching?

Yes, you can click "Content Only" in that menu and the thumbnails go away. But they reappear immediately when you use Command-G to go to the next search result.
I can find no way to just make them go away permanently.
Also, in yet another departure from common GUI practice, there is no way to un-check those menu items by clicking on them. You have to click one of the other items. In other words, they behave like radio buttons in that they are mutually exclusive, yet they are displayed as if you could select more than one of them.

Old files are unable to be searched via Search Functionality after upgrade

After upgrading TREX to version 7, older files prior to upgrade are now unable to be indexed. Only new files coming in are indexed properly.

Anyway, checking Indexing Monitor, all statuses are in RED (Unknown Error: null). Although there are number of documents indexed properly, these files are the new files after the upgrade. The old ones are not indexed.

Pdf files are not opening. when change to diff. search engine they open

was trying to open an ally bank acct. it ask that i print some pdf forms . they would open but the page stayed blank. I closed the firefox engine and opened safari when i got to the pdf forms they opened with the content.

Help please! In InDesign DPS, my folio files are fine, but when previewing, random elements disappear?

I have been working on these files now for a long time. All of a sudden, when I updated my Folio recently and previewed it, random elements disappeared from view. Images, text, buttons, all are just not visible at random. Please help me out as I need to get this published ASAP!
I tried resetting my preferences, and I updated my DPS Tools... not sure what else to do.

I get popups about needing to update version and some add ons are expired. I would like to stop these I can't up date. I've downloaded myself and I get the file is corrupt a lot of hours for nothing tried several times downloaded from the library and it said the same thing so I''l just keep the version that came with corel word perfect. When I try to update the add ons I get the same thing plus my machine gets messed up again I'll just stay with what is there. Files are updated even when not touched in months

date modified is updated for all folders--
The files in some folders (documents) are updated as if they had all been truly worked over in some substantial way, even when they have not been touched in months. This happened to my laptop and now has spread to my desktop at work. Help. At times, it has taken processing power away from the machine to do the updating.
eMac Mac OS X (10.3.9) laptop was ibook running jaguar

mine has started to do the same thing. I have reset the nano 3 times. When I turn it off the "charged battery" icon stays on though the light is off. I plugged it in to the computer and had to reset for the computer to find. After leaving it plugged in for a few hours I unplugged and tried again. Still says "charged" all the time.
I could try a hard reset...., but has any one else experienced this?

I used Image Capture to scan documents in order to upload to a website. When I go to select the .jpg files they are greyed out. Any suggestions?

Newly created files are always locked

I have a small but annoying problem with Indesign. (Several, actually, but the one on my mind at the moment is...)
Whenever I create a new document, it's always locked. I can't save changes to it, add it to a book, or do many other routine things with it. It doesn't matter what I do; I can close out of everything completely but when I re-open Indesign, the file is still locked.
What I can do, which provides me with an easy workaround, is do a Save As..., delete the original document, and work with the one I created with the Save As. (Documents created by Save As don't seem to have this problem, only documents created by New => Document). After I do that, everything works as expected. For this reason, this problem isn't the end of the world, though it was pretty scary the first time it happened. But it's still an annoyance that strikes me as an obvious bug, and if anyone's got a diagnosis and a means of keeping it from happening in the first place, I'd love to hear it.
