Files are colored red

I have been receiving several source code samples. 3 Files are RED under Frameworks. UIKIT, CoreGraphics and Foundation .framework.
I then selected Build->Clean All Targets menu option followed by re-adding
those standard Apple frameworks by right-clicking the Frameworks folder on
the left side 'Groups and Files' panel. I could only find Foundation .framework.
Where do I find the other 2 files.

This is common when making the switch to Snow Leopard.
You just have to Get Info on the project in Xcode (highlight the project name in the Groups & Files list and then click the white and blue "i" info button), then on the General tab, at the bottom, play around with the "Base SDK for All Configurations" setting until the red goes away.
Also make sure you have the correct build settings selected at the top left in the Xcode window.

You can undo the RAW Compatibilty Update 4.08 without a time machine backup!
In Finder go to MacIntosh HD > Systems > Library > Core Services
In that folder delete the following:
RawCamera.bundle
RawCameraSupport.Bundle
Then download Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.07 from the Apple suport pages. Here's the direct link:

The app store will then be telling you another update is available, meaning 4.08 which screwed us up in the frst place! Simply ignore the 4.08 update! Unless you are using one of the cameras listed as being added by 4.08:

     Nikon COOLPIX P330
     Pentax 645D
     Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1R

However, I have been in voice contact with a Senior Support Specialist at Apple Care. The problem with Update 4.08 removing compatibilty for previously supported Nikon (and possibly other) files has been flagged to Apple's engineering.

AVI files are color reversed

Hi. I've been given a disk with a few AVI files in them. They came from a high-speed panasonic video camera. When I open them in FCP or QT, the colors are all messed up. The basic picture is there but instead of what it should be, everything is brilliant yellows and pinks.
Could this be a CODEC issue? Any suggestions?

This sounds like a color space transformation issue: the conversion from the internal working color space of the Panasonic WRAW to the output color space (RGB) is not happening.
You'll need to find an application that can open the files in their native color space and the convert them for you. It's not uncommon for specialized software to be needed to open raw files. And, there are numerous "raw" formats, new ones keep getting introduced and some get abandoned.
The support pages for the camera that shot the clips are probably the best place to check. That, or a user forum for those who have shot or shoot with this camera.

After data file recovery, files are red and won't open

My HD crashed so I used Data Rescue 3 to recover my files. It worked but now all the files are highlighted red and won't open. The file sizes look right but for instance when I try to open a mov file it says, this is not a movie file. My FCP projects won't open either. Does anybody know what the problem is and what I need to do to get the files usable again?

Data recovery can be hit and miss. Data Rescue is unlikely to be able to recover every single byte from every single file. If so much as a single byte is out of place, QuickTime will be unable to read the file.
I would suggest you give QT Repair a try and if that doesn't work, try File Salvage:

My Toshiba external hard drive broke and a friend used a program on his mac to recover the files. He says it worked but now all the files are highlighted red and won't open. Thanks, Courcoul. I did Get Info and changed all the permissions to Read & Write for Me, Fetching, and Everyone. Still doesn't work. But, if I click on the picture of the Lock to Unlock it, I can't do that, because it's a work computer and they don't give me admin privileges. So maybe that's the problem? Though I don't see why. I use to be able to open all the files on my computer.

Dynamic range of the color red in RAW files.

I have seen this issue with my 70D and my SX-50 so it seems to be an issue with Canon cameras in general (I don't know if other camera makes have this too). Whenever I photograph something that has the color red (for me I often photograph birds) the jpegs look fine but I always start with post processing of RAW files. Anywhere the red color is found I find the color saturates out very easily. I use Adobe Photoshop Essentials (PSE) for post processing and cannot get the RAW adjusted/processed to look anywhere as good as the jpeg as detail is lost when red saturates out. This is not a problem with any other color.
For now I end up opening the jpeg as RAW in PSE and start my adjustments there which give me a better picture with finer detail than starting with the original RAW file. I will post this same question in the PSE forum to see who else noticed this and what their work around is.

Just for the record I have owned 1Ds2, 1Ds3, every version of 5D, etc and all have had red issued.
I now also own a Nikon D610 and there is no such issue of over saturation of the red channel in RAW. This is one reason that I shoot the Nikon over the 6D almost all the time. The added DR goes a long way. The D610 files are just easier to work with and a lot faster to reach a final image. Desaturating the red channel on the Canon files obviously causes other issues.
I am impatiently waiting for Canon to put out a camera with a comparable sensor.

To provie details try pasting all but serial number from system profile. Sorry but Mac Pro tells me nothing, not model, year, or what graphic card it came with or updated with.

Good color/contrast cs4 Bridge; in Camera Raw files are overexposed...

Maybe you could specify your problem a bit more, not sure I understand it
now. Maybe you can also deliver a screenshot of the file in Bridge?
If you have a raw file (do you??) you can change this settings in Camera Raw
to the desired look before opening in PS. Changes made in Camera Raw will
reflect in Bridge, they should appear the same.
If you have changed the default RAW settings they might also cause this
problem but your originals from camera can also be wrong.
Hence my question for a bit more explanation.

Soundtract Files are Red

All of the sound files that you choose from in the bottom left corner are all red. I am not able to play them or drag them to the project space. Please help.

Apparently the apple sound loops had not been installed. At least, I ran that disc and all is well.

We have to add PRE-FORM trigger to many FMBies. We have thousants of FMBies. So opening one by one is difficult. For this we are using OPEN API and BORLAND C++. We have coppied all header files from D:\orant\FORMS60\API.

Photo Files Losing Color when placing in INDD...

Hi, using INDD CS6,I am noticing my jpg files are losing some of their color information when I link them into INDD, I am doing a photo book, and the colors really need to be preserved. It's almost like they are being compressed a little in INDD similar to what we see on compressed PDF output. I have check my color spaces, etc, all seem to be good and consistent between the apps. I am attaching a screen shot where I overlaid the same jpg displayed in preview next to the same file linked to in INDD.

A few things at play here, I think. First, do you see the the little red dot with the question mark in the upper left of the frame in ID? That means the link is missing. ID can't do a proper preview if it can't find the link. Second, ID is color managed. As far as I know, Preview is not. A more accurate check would be against the image in Photoshop. Third, you've got a drop shadow. I suspect the Image is RGB and the transparency blend space is set to CMYK. Fourth, you are, indeed, looking at a compressed preview, not the actual pixels. The quality of the preview depends on the settings (display quality) and the size/resolution ratio at which the image was saved.

Sending Motion files to Color?

I'm trying to send a clip from fcp that was previously manipulated in Motion, to Color. When I send the clip into Color the sequences that were worked in Motion show as red empty boxes indicating the need to be "reconnected to media". I cant find the media. In FCP the clip "sequence 1.motn" renders properly. Is it possible to send a .motn file to Color or am I just missing where the .motn file is stored. Am I not understanding a technical point.

You need to export the motion project to QT, place in FCP timeline then send to Color. Color is unable to import motion files. See Color User Manual page 84 for a list of compatible QT codecs that are allowed to be imported into Color.

Red(as in the color red) is not red in h264 output

Hello to you all,
Whenever I output a h264 file with quicktime, my colors are messed up.
I have a red car on video. It's red in the original AVCHD MTS file viewed with VLC, it's still red when converted to AIC with voltaic and viewed in Quicktime. But then it happens, exporting to h264 results in a red car with a light blue cast over it, it looks purple!. Both in VLC and Quicktime.
Tried colorsync filters, probably every existing combination, only makes things worse.
Tried to attach other color profiles with automator, only makes things worse.
I have a wonderfull screenshot of this...hmm I can't attach pictures into this forum...or can I ?
Does anyone know why my car is red in the original raw footage, still red in the AIC file and NOT red but slightly purple in the h264 export.
My settings for h264 output:
Bitrate 24Mbps. Multiple cycles.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 4s - I went to the apple store and they refused to check the inside indicators for any water damage. Only the earphone LCI was trigerred.

Flash files are opening twice at the same time!

When I click a flash link on my page, two swf files open and play at the same time. I've worked on this over and over. Can anyone help?

Thoughts on Flash
There's nothing you can do but switch away from Flash and move on to CSS and Javascript for animation and HTML5 for the <video> tag, if you want the broadest audience to see your content.
