Files for replication

I have just sent a H264 bluray file made in Premiere CS6 on a PC to be authored using Scenarist ready for Bluray replication and have had the file rejected as non compatible. Any thoughts on which file format I can use? The replication plant can do the conversion using DNxHD masters but they want a lot for doing this.
Richard Knight

PP creates Blu-ray compliant files using the Blu-ray presets.  Be sure to use one of those.  If you still have trouble, then I'd get more information about why it's non-compliant.

  • Problem with File Based replication in Weblogic Express 10

    Hi,
We have Web application (exploded war) file deployed on Weblogic Express 10, to a Cluster of three Managed Servers (all three on different physical machines).
We are using File based session persistance in weblogic.xml
We have a shared location for all the three servers where we will be sharing the Session data.
When we start the application, its works fine and is very fast, but after sometime the application slows down.
Troubleshooting the Issue we found that its a problem with file based replication. By using File based replication every user session is stored in form of directory inside shared directory. So after sometime thousands of directories are created inside the shared directory where the session information is stored. So when we access the application, its waiting for lot of time with Message Session Monitor .... (this is because its browsing through the shared session storage directory for lot of time for session information as it has lot of directories) and finally after a long time like 10 mins we get the Application Home Page.
When we clean up all the saved sessions inside shared directory, the application works fine, But we will see the same sometime later may be after 3 or 4 hours when the shared session directory has lot of session information stored in it.
Is there a way to clean up the saved session information on file system as soon as that user session is closed by using file based replication.
We cannot used Inmemory replication as our Appl doesnt support it.
Please advice as it is a major show stopper in our Production Mirror env.

It is possible to reduce number of live session by configuring very low timeout-secs weblogic.xml. Default is 60 minutes.
              More details are here..

  • Can DVDSP create a CSS enabled Video_TS ready for replication?

Can I create a copy-protected DVD with a Video_TS folder ready for replication?
From what I understand, copy-protected DVD's for replication can only be created through the DDP file process. That means that the replicator must apply a "mastering process" to the files before a glass master is created.
I am being told my a replicator that in the past, they have received discs from clients that are copy protected and ready for replication. Is this possible? Can I burn these type of discs with DVD Studio Pro and a built in burner?
    Ed

Here is a post from another site that provides more details--basically the answer to my question is no.
Can I create a copy-protected DVD with a Video_TS folder ready for replication?
Nope. All CSS encrypted DVD's must be in DDP or CMF format on either hard drive, DLT, or DVD-R (provided as DVD-ROM, not Video_TS).
The "mastering process" is us (replicators) adding the actual CSS keys to the final image while it is premastering. DVD Studio Pro "flags" the master with CSS. The keys are added in the premastering stage at the replicator before glass is made (unless you use Scenarist, you can add the keys upon output, which doesn't make it playable but the Eclipse software will see the keys are present and we don't have to add them).
I am being told by my replicator that in the past, they have received discs from clients that are copy protected and ready for replication. Is this possible? Can I burn these type of discs with DVD Studio Pro and a built in burner?
I would think that this would be the DDP image with the CSS keys included. I dont believe there is any way to output a playable DVD that has CSS to a DVD-R on any authoring system. Even if there was you cannot premaster a DVD-Video with CSS at any replication facility.
    -Luke
I think that pretty much sums it up.

  • What setting in Toast for creating a DVD-R master for replication?

I just Downloaded the new Toast 7 Titanium.
What setting should I use to burn a DVD-R to send in for replication?
    Someone else said DVD-ROM UDF
There is also a "Make Video DVD from VIDEO_TS folder"
    Which one?

Sorry peeps! haven't looked here for awhile... (been really really busy...)
Don't use either of those options unless you know what you're doing and you know what dvdsp is doing!
If the dvd-r is for replication then you should check region 7 to make the disc region all. It used to be checked by default but is not any longer...! Then when you format set the Output Device to Hard Drive and the Output Format to .img
Now in Toast you select Copy>Image File. Burn two copies at as slow a speed as possible. It's worth knowing, some say that writing at rated speeds is best but from the many many times I've seen recordable media issues it seems that writing slower solves the problem more than the other way around!
Doing that will mean that your disc remains Region All, unlike if you use a Build to the Hard Drive and burn with Toast. You can control the burn speed & you don't have to worry about removing the .LAY, .layout files etc.
Some versions of Toast are helpful, version 6.0.7 or later has options which will remove any files that shouldn't be in the VIDEO_TS directory for you, makes sure an empty AUDIO_TS folder is included etc but that doesn't help you much if DVDSP doesn't let you control the region flags with Builds to the Hard Drive. Using an .img solves all that.
If you use the Data>Advanced>DVD-ROM (UDF) option you should use DVDAfterEdit or MyDVDEdit to correct the regions settings. Then manually remove the .LAY, .layout, PAR folder etc that should not be in the VIDEO_TS folder.
If you use the Video>Advanced>DVD-Video from VIDEO_TS folder you still need to correct the regions setting but Toast removes all the other 'stuff' for you and adds the (empty) AUDIO_TS folder.
FWIW, when you Format & Burn direct to disc out of DVDSP it does as it's told. The .LAY, .layout etc files are removed (see the log) and the regions ALL setting is as you'd expect.

  • DVD rejected for replication

I created a small, simple DVD using DVDSP 3.0.2 and my client sent it for replication. The replicators rejected my DVD for mastering and sent this snotty email:
"Master rejected due to video manager IFO and BUP files in the same ECC block, attach is the loading report and below the explanation report.
Video Manager IFO and BUP files in the same ECC block
The DVD-Video specifications require that the Video Manager Information file (VIDEO_TS.IFO) and its backup (VIDEO_TS.BUP) NOT be recorded in the same ECC block.
Background: For redundancy purposes, the DVD-Video specifications require a backup file for the Video Manager Information file. If this file should become corrupt, a DVD-Player can locate the backup file and use it instead. If the two files overlap within the same ECC Block, it is possible that if the ECC fails, it will cause both files to be unreadable.
Error Severity: This requirement is in the specifications to guarantee playability of a disc in the event that the IFO file is corrupt. With normal use, a disc may develop scratches and other physical detects over time. If an error should occur in the ECC Block where both of these files are recorded, then it may render both files unreadable. It is for this reason that this rule is set to Warning severity.
Possible Cause: This problem is caused by the authoring system that created the image. It is the responsibility of the authoring system to ensure that these files do not overlap within the same ECC Block.
Possible Solution: This problem can only be corrected by an authoring system.
    Type: DVD Rule
Reference: DVD Part 3: Video Specifications
    Default Program Action: Warning
    Rule ID: 474"
I have never had this problem before and this is by no means the first DVD I've sent for repliaction! This is, however, the first time we're using this particular company to do the replication.
I checked the build and the VIDEO_TS.IFO and its backup VIDEO_TS.BUP files are in the same folder, which is probably why they've ended up on the same ECC block.
I've scoured the manual and can find no way to change this.
I've also checke these groups and can find no reference to this issue.
Has anyone encountered this problem before?
    Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi Hal
No, I did not uncheck "Lossless Linking". I now see that I should have because the User Manual says: "While Lossless Linking usually results in a flawless write process, there is a slight potential for an error to be introduced. If you are burning a disc for use by a replication facility, you may want to deselect Lossless Linking so that you can ensure that your disc is written without interruption."
This is a bit cryptic. It doesn't explain what the "error" that may be "introduced" is. I'll give it a go and let you all know how I go.
Thanks to both Alex and hal for the advice.

  • Can I use Datapump for replication of Delta from one database to another

    Good Morning Experts,
I would like to know if can we use Data Pump (expdp and impdp) for replication between two database only for delta and not for complete database on daily basis and how?
    Regards,
    MS

    MS,
I assume you are talking about both metadata and data. I don't know of a way to do this. I have heard of dba's using Data Pump import to track differences in metadata, but not to replicate them.
To track differences in metadata you do the following every day:
    export full=y ...
    import full=y sqlfile=full_todays_data.sql ...
Then from day to day, just diff the .sql file to see what changed. You will see if tables added/dropped columns, new indexes, etc. Based on this, you may be able to come up with a set of expdp/impdp jobs to replicate the modified objects, but there is nothing built in.
    Hope this helps

  • ISSUE: "This domain controller must register a DNS SRV resource record, which is required for replication to function correctly"

so we currently have three domain controllers set up, two of them on 2012r2 and one of them on 2008r2. prior to any of these domain controllers being added to the domain there was only one, running on 2003r2. the 2003r2 server was up and running when the
first 2012r2 was added and that's when running 'dcdiag /e /c /v' would yield an issue with "_ldap._tcp.9a5f3c17-e7ac-48f7-ab42-bf1ea621a6f5.domains._msdcs.cmedia.local" in the DNS portion of the diagnostics, specifically:
    TEST: Records registration (RReg)
Network Adapter [00000010] Microsoft Hyper-V Network Adapter:
    Error:
Missing SRV record at DNS server 192.168.22.4:
    _ldap._tcp.9a5f3c17-e7ac-48f7-ab42-bf1ea621a6f5.domains._msdcs.cmedia.local
after adding the second 2012r2 to the domain, this issue is still there... adding the 2008r2 server to the domain and running BPA it gives the following:
    Title:
This domain controller must register a DNS SRV resource record, which is required for replication to function correctly
    Severity:
    Error
    Date:
    7/3/2014 11:24:48 AM
    Category:
    Configuration
    Issue:
The "DcByGuid" DNS service (SRV) resource record that advertises this server as an available domain controller in the domain and ensures correct replication is not registered. All domain controllers (but not RODCs) in the domain must register this record.
    Impact:
Other member computers and domain controllers in the domain or forest will not be able to locate this domain controller. This domain controller will not be able to provide a full suite of services.
    Resolution:
Ensure that "DcByGuid" is not configured in the "DnsAvoidRegisteredRecords" list, either through Group Policy or through the registry. Restart the Netlogon service. Verify that the DNS service (SRV) resource record "_ldap._tcp.9a5f3c17-e7ac-48f7-ab42-bf1ea621a6f5.domains._msdcs.cmedia.local", pointing to the local domain controller "CM-DC4-NY01.cmedia.local", is registered in DNS.
More information about this best practice and detailed resolution procedures: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=126968
I've tried scanning and then re-scanning every single entry in DNS Manager and do not see any reference to this specific GUID mentioned, nor do I see any other domain controllers referenced that should not be in there. The two 2012r2 and the 2008r2 domain
controllers are the only ones listed in DNS Manager... the 2003r2 mentioned earlier failed and was removed.

Just to chime in, I noticed that you said you have one 2008 R2 DC, and two 2012 DCs.
I also noticed in the ipconfig /all that all DCs are pointint to themselves for DNS. We usually like to see them point to a partner, then itslelf as the second entry, w hether loopback or by its own IP.
Based on that, what I suggest to level the playing field by choosing the WIndows 2008 R2 DC as the first DNS on all DCs and only administer DNS using that DC. The reason I chose that is because of the least common denominator is what we rather use so we
don't invoke any new features in the newer 2012 DNS console that 2008 R2 may not understand.  After that's done, on each DC run (and you can use a PowerShell window to run this):
Rename the system32\config\netlogon.dns and netlogon.dnb files by suffixing ".old" to the file.
    ipconfig /registerdns
    net stop netlogon
    net start netlogon
    Then re-run the dcdiag /e /c /v.
    Post your results, please.

I thought the DNS entries were supposed to be the other way around? point to themselves first and a partner as secondary? regardless, as requested, I've changed it to what you've prescribed where they point to the 2008r2 server as the primary with themselves
as the secondary. I've also followed the steps to what seems like refreshing the DNS? on each of the DCs. Here's the output from dcdiag /e /c /v

  • Command line for replication setup for DS 4.16

I am using Directory Server 4.16. I see example using command line for replication configuration in DS 5.0. Since 5.0 is quite different with 4.16. So my question is how to use command line to set up a Supplier in DS 4.16?
I know we can use ldapmodify to do some change. I see an ldapreplica entry. I can setup supplier id and password there. It seems only change that entry is not enough. Where to setup the setup for "changedatabase", "replication schedule", "initial consumer later" something we do at the console screen?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Iris

    Hi Iris
Steps involved in Setting up Replication from command line
Part I: On Consumer Directory Server
    1. Log on to the consumer directory server.
    2. Stop the consumer directory server
    3. Edit the slapd.conf file at <server-root>/slapd-<server-instance>/config so that it includes the following two lines. The lines show the DN of who is allowed to connect for replication and the entry's corresponding password.
    updatedn "uid=<REPLICA USER BIND DN>"
updatepw {SHA}<SHA ENCRYPTED REPLICA USER PASSWORD>
    4. Edit the dse.ldif file at <server-root>/slapd-<server-instance>/config so that the entry cn=config contains the following two lines. These lines contain the same data as the line above.
    nsslapd-updatedn: uid=<REPLICA USER BIND DN>
    nsslapd-updatepw: <PLAIN TEXT REPLICA USER PASSWORD>
    5. Start the consumer directory server
Part II: Creating the Replication Agreement
    1. Log on to the master directory server
    2. Stop the master directory server
    3. Edit the slapd.conf file at <server-root>/slapd-<server-instance>/config so that it includes the following two lines. This lines setup the changelog directory and suffix.
    changelogdir <dir path >
    changelogsuffix "cn=changelog"
    4. mkdir <CHANGELOG DIR>
    5. Start the master directory server
    6. Create a file named replica.ldif which contains the following lines. These lines reflect the agreement which will start the replication with the consumer; as such you should make the changes to reflect your environment.
    dn: cn=<CONSUMER FQDN>:<CONSUMER PORT>/o%3D<BASE DN>, cn=ldap://:<SUPPLIER
PORT>,dc=<1ST ELEMENT OF SUPPLIER FQDN>,dc=<2ND ELEMENT OF SUPPLIER
    FQDN>,...,<TOP LEVEL SUPPLIER FQDN>
    changetype: add
    objectclass: top
    objectclass: LDAPReplica
    replicahost: <CONSUMER FQDN>
    replicaport: 389
    replicanickname: <CONSUMER HOSTNAME>
    cn: <CONSUMER FQDN>:<CONSUMER PORT>/o%3D<BASE DN>
    replicaroot: o=<BASE DN>
    replicabinddn: uid=<REPLICA USER BIND DN>
    replicacredentials: <REPLICA USER PASSWORD>
    replicausessl: 0
    7. Run ldapmodify with the proper authorization so that the entry is added correctly.
    8. There is an optional attribute which can be tacked on to the bottom of the above entry. The attribute 'replicabeginorc' will tell the server to immediately start on-line replication; this will initialize the consumer by deleting all the current entries on the consumer one at a time and then adding all the entries from the master one at a time. If this is something you want to do, do an ldapmodify adding this attribute to the entry you just created in step 8.
    for example
    Create a file called beginreplica.ldif like;
    dn: cn=xymox.mcom.com:389/o%3Dinternet, cn=ldap://:389,dc=fts,dc=mcom,dc=com
    changetype: modify
    add: replicabeginorc:
    replicabeginorc: start
    then run;
    ldapmodify -h fts -p 389 -D "cn=Directory Manager" -w netscape -f beginreplica.ldif
    Hope this helps

  • Distributed File System Replication between servers with different performance

If Distributed File System Replication is set between servers with different performance. What will happen with the performance of the fastest server? Will the performance decrease to match the performance of the
slowest server in the chain? I mean, will the source slow down (processor speed) if the recipients can't keep up?

    Hi,
If you mix different performance server for DFS replication, most of improvements on the fastest server are disabled for backwards compatibility and the performance decrease to match the performance of the slowest server.

  • Blu-Ray Authoring for Replication

    Hi everyone,
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Is anyone on the forum using PP CS3 for commercial Blu-ray replication, and is that working out OK?
My replication house is saying they have tried Encore as well as other authoring programs and didn't find Encore sufficient to encode everything properly.
If anyone is using Encore for replication, can you post a quick workflow of what steps need to happen to get basic movie files and menus in a usable form for replication? I'm working with an HDV movie edited originally in FCP.
    Thanks!
    Dave

In reading other posts on this topic (Yes, a little late) most of the problems discussed are about costs for licensing, not about specs. As more and more small replication outfits are now replicating Blu-ray, my question still stands about formats and specs. Is Encore able to create proper files, and if so, what kinds?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Automatic File System Replication at remote(Disaster) Site

Hi all, I have two site one primary and other one is DR. How to configure file system replication for remote site so that any changes/create/delete being made in file system is automatically updated at DR site servers. At both site solaris version is 11.2
    Please suggest.

    Hi,
    A few recommendations:
    1. Use an actual clustering product like Oracle Solaris Cluster:
    Oracle Solaris Cluster | Oracle
    2. If you required synchronous replication, then review this product:
Sun StorageTek Availability Suite 4.0 Software Product Library Documentation
    3. A clustered ZFS storage application provides continuous replication across the production and DR sites.
See page 2 of this doc: http://www.oracle.com/us/products/servers-storage/sun-zfs-storage-family-ds-173238.pdf
    4. You can build your own Solaris 11.2 ZFS replication by taking hourly snapshots and sending them over to the DR site.
This is not a fully clustered solution, without any kind of automatic failover. ZFS is not a clustered file system so you can't
access the same data from different systems.
    Thanks, Cindy

  • Bitrate for Replication

Hi, if someone could help it would be very much appreciated.
I am making a DVD-9 for replication. When I am burning DVDrs on my machine I generally encode at the standard vbr 6.2 - 7.7 with AIC. This leads to a maximum bit rate, I assume, of around 8
With replication can I, or should I, go higher? I have seen DVD creation in a big studio where the guy was pushing all max data rates up to 9.8 . He was using a PC program.
I remember reading a couple of years ago that Apple's compressor was unreliable and often put spikes above the maximum set. Is this the reason why the 6.2 to 7.7 is suggested?
I notice in this interesting article by Brian Gary on Cinema craft that he sugests a VBR with an average of 6 and a max of 9 (towards the end of the article - it's quite long!)
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/cinema_craftencoder.html
Anyhow any advice here would be appreciated. I would like the get the best picture I can while being readable on older dvd players. I am also looking at Bitvice but I like Compressor as its downscaling is good.
I'm using footage from a Sony Z1 HDV transcoded to Prores 50i
    Thanks

So you'd suggest having a total max bitrate no more than 8.2 for replicated?
As the target market for the disk is 50+ it needs to play on older set top boxes
Compressor can work fine, but you mention 50+ discs, are you duplicating and not replicating? If duplicating definately err lower than higher.
Average of 6, High of 8 (I would usually use 7.5 for discs from computers/duplication depedning on project) and AC3 files should work. Also older players can be more of a PITA...

  • Generate xml source file for Oracle Order Capture Print Quote

    Hi,
I am new to xml and need to work on creating templates for Print Quote.
I am trying to generate the xml source file for which I enabled the report in system administrator and set the output to XML and assigned to Quoting Reports responsiblity. I then assigned XML Report Publisher to the same responsiblity.
I ran the report (Print Quote) and then I am trying to run the XML Report Publisher but I cannot get the request id in the list of values.
I am able to generate xml source file for other reports like Printed Purchase Order etc.,
The view output for the (Print Quote) report is as follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    - <!-- Generated by Oracle Reports version 6.0.8.26.0
    -->
    <ASOPQTER />
How do I get the xml source file? Or are there seeded templates that I can use to create more templates? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ravi

Hi, I am in the same position - did this issue ever ger resolved by anyone. I have done a few XMLP reports successfully now using the Word add-in, but customising the Quote output differs from other standard reports.
If you look at the data definition for Quote it is a 'dummy' definition and has no XML file attached. Does anyone know how I can get the XML format for the report output?
Also the template uses XSL-FO ?!?!?! rather than RTF - not sure how to work with this, the Oracle docs are not very helpful in this regard either.
Has anyone successfully managed to customise the Quote print report? Many thanks,
    Roger

  • Vi error on nfs mount; E212: Can't open file for writing

    Hi all,
I've setup a umask of 0 for testing on both NFS client (Centos 5.2) and NFS server (OSX 10.5.5 server).
I can create files as one user and edit/save out as another user w/o issue when directly logged into the server via ARD.
    However, when I attempt the same from an NFS mount on a client machine, even as root I get the following error using vi;
"file" E212: Can't open file for writing
    Looking at the system.log file on the server, I see;
    kernel[0]: add_fsevent: no name hard-link! dropping the event. (event 2 vp == 0xa5db510 (-UNKNOWN-FILE)).
This baffles me. My umask is 0 meaning files I create and attempt to edit as other users are 777, but I cannot save out edits unless I do a wq! in vi. At that point, the owner of the file changes to whomever did the vi.
This isn't just a vi issue as it happens using any editor, but I like to use vi.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Hey, beer is on me!

    Hi all,
    Thanks for the replies
I've narrowed it down to a Centos client issue.
Everything works fine using other Linux based OS's as clients.
Since we have such a huge investment in Centos, I must figure out a workaround. Apple support wasn't much help as usual however they were very nice.
There usual response is "its unsupported".
If Apple really wants to play in the enterprise of business space, they really need to change there philosophy. I mean telling me that I shouldn't mount home directories via NFS is completely rediculus.
