Files Migration Windows folder areas

Hi,
My client has a requirements to migrate all the files from windows environment public/private folders to Oracle Files. I was able to create respective workspaces.
Document says that Oracle files-specific password, protocol access is needed for FTP'ing files into the workspace. We have thousands of users, and is there any way of FTP'ing files automatically.
Thanks,
Please respond directly to [email protected] if you can.
Prasad.

So what's the filename? We don't like to play guessing game.

  • Files from Windows 7 are not alphabetized correctly on OS X, and can match identically named files in the same folder

I receive MS Word files from students using Macs or Windows-based computers.  This year, files prepared by students using Windows 7 are not alphabetized correctly on my Mac (under Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion).  The same four students keep having their files put at the END of the alphabetical sort by name, even though the files should appear earlier in the list.  I have to copy the file contents and paste the contents into a new document to get the new document to appear in the right order, and if I do so, then BOTH the old and new files appear in the Finder, even though the names appear to be identical!  So can have to files with the same name in the same folder, which ought to be impossible.  Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

    Bingo!
The problem is not the letters themselves, but non-letter characters in the file name; this showed up with the fixed-width fonts. The apparent duplicates and mis-sorting are caused by dashes, which differ because they're done as en-dashes in one file name and em-dashes in the other file name, or by curly or straight apostrophes.  I didn't see that in the Finder window.
I never saw this behavior before this year.  Last year, when I was using a Mac for the first time, I did not see any such problem, even though my students' files were named using the same conventions. When I was using a Windows-based laptop before that, I never saw the problem.
Windows must do something to style the non-letter characters differently than a Mac.  Is there any place in Windows Explorer or the OS X Finder that styles characters this way?  I can see this being a big problem for someone who needs to sort very important data by name, when the files are coming from different operating systems!
(I just Googled en-dash, em-dash, and curly quotes with file names, and found a good number of posts on various sites about similar problems based on ASCI character coding, html coding, Windows Explorer, and other applications.  Sometimes the files don't appear at all, because the application reading the file name can't deal with a certain ASCI code.  What a mess.)

  • CSA - random temp file in windows folder, no extension

So I have this ASP.NET application that insists on placing its temp files directly in the Windows directory. AND it doesn't use any kind of extension. So how do you allow this without making the windows folder vulnerable?
Here is an example of the event:
TESTMODE: The process 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\csc.exe' (as user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE) attempted to access 'C:\WINDOWS\2Z1J1J1Q1Q8Q8Q8X'. The attempted access was a write (operation = OPEN/CREATE). The operation would have been denied.
    Wow, crazy! Okay do this:
    - create a new File Access Control rule
    - set to Priority Allow
    - choose your application (in my case, ASP.NET)
    - check Read and Write
    - create new File Set
    - Directories matching: @windows
    - Files matching: ????????????????
    - but not: *.*
Okay so here is what this does. I compared all the events, and I noticed that the random file is always exactly 16 standard characters, with no extension. The question mark (?) is a single alphanumeric wildcard. By wildcarding the exact size of the string, but not allowing anything with a period (. for an extension), I now have a file set that matches what I need to exclude.
Hope that helps someone with a similar oddity.

    Thank you Richard!
Great response. I have similar problem. The difference is that this actually never happens - the .Net application tries to write to that default location, but it does not succeeds, because of security restrictions, but the event is actually logged.
Do you know of a way to get around this?

  • Which files in my folder are not in iTunes Library?

    Hi all!
I have a folder full of music in my hard drive. The music in my iTunes library consists of music coming ONLY from this folder. There are some tracks that I have deleted from the iTunes library that still remain in this folder. Is there a way I can produce a list of what files/tracks from this folder are not in the iTunes library? This could be done manually but the size of my collection does not allow such an approach.
    Thank you in advance.

This script uses Spotlight to find files in your iTunes Music folder which are not in the library.
    Hope this helps.

A database is not a flat file system!
What relevance this sentence holds wrt OP's question ? Does "database being a flat file system" really help ? OP is asking for some way to list out files in a folder.

  • Auto scan files from windows folder

I am having trouble updating the iTunes library automatically? e.g. when I delete a file from my folder where all my music is stored the Library in iTunes does not do a refresh and pick up the change?
Please help because this is getting irritating because I have to keep importing the folder into iTunes.

iTunes does not have an auto-refresh or scan feature as you desire.
If you delete a music file on the PC (outside of iTunes), you will be left with a broken song reference within iTunes.
Delete both the reference and file by using iTunes.

  • Files in download folder are appearing as in-progress

I am running Mac OS X 10.8. For the files in my Download folder, they have started to appear as in-progress, even when the file downloads are complete and all programs other than the Finder are not running. Here is an example of how the files appear:
This also occurs regardless of whether the download folder is displayed as a Stack or a Folder. It's a little annoying because you can't then click on the file to open it. Any ideas how to fix this?
    Thanks, Trevor

  • Why i can't open freehand files in Windows which are created in Mac??

As i use Mac to operate freehand in my company. But when i open those files at home by using Windows freehand, i can't open them? Why?? Please help..thanks!

Most obvious - make sure the Mac file have the correct ".FH10" file extension.
I use FHMX on Windows7 and regularly open Mac files from FH8 without any dramas.
Try back-saving the Mac files to FH8 (with .FH8 file extension) and opening those on the PC.
Failing that, convert individual layers to PDF open those on the PC and re-assemble the drawing.
    Good Luck

  • HT4413 Files migrated, but where are they?

Have migrated files & music from PC to new Mac, 'was done successfully' was the message, but I can't find any of it. Should I look in a particular place?

Try a Spotlight search, type in the name of a file, if toy hover your cursor over the result, it should give you the path, ypu can also click on the result and it should take you there.

  • HELP!  Files in web folder are no longer clickable......

I have created a page that a user can add content to via a WebDAV connection thru her local machine (url in My Network Places).
This page is then published as a portlet and included on another page so that all users can download the files that have been dragged into the WebDAV connection window by the user mentioned above....
All of a sudden, the "Display Name or Image" is no longer clickable for downloading the files... The name appears for each file, but that is all.....
    Any ideas!

Hi Candace, thanks for your time!
Nothing is "clickable".... as in, nothing will is hyperlinked to each individual file....
In my settings for items in this region, I have chosen mime type image, Image or Display Name Link, and when updated as attributes....
All that appears for each item/file is Image or Display Name and item updated info, though neither of which is clickable, or hyperlinked.....
    Arrrrrghhhh..........

  • All files in 'Downloads' folder are greyed out

    I'm using a Macbook Air 13'
Processor 1.7 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    Software  OS X 10.9.4
    The problem:
All of a sudden when I try to access the 'Downloads' folder everything is greyed out. However, when I access the 'Downloads' folder in any other way, say I upload a picture from 'Downloads' into Facebook it works fine, no issues at all. Only when I pull it up from 'Finder' is it grey and inaccessible.
    What I've tried:
I restarted, I tried updating, and when I logged on with a different user, the issue is not present.
    Any help is appreciated...

  • Is there any impact if the files in the Log/ Cache folder are deleted?

    Dear All,
We are working on BODS v4.1 SP2 and it looks like some log files in the application server are taking about 30GB of space.
The folder path on the server is
    Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Data Services\Log\Cache
and the 4 files are named
    PPF_file_21_116_56_1761_1_0_21
    PPF_file_21_116_56_1761_1_1_21
    PPF_file_21_116_56_1761_1_2_21
    PPF_file_21_116_56_1761_1_3_21
Will there be any impact if these files are deleted from the above folder? Anybody has come across this issue before?
    Thank you!
    Sriram.

    Hi Sriram,
Log files are generally .txt which won't occupy much space. But .dmp files occupy huge amount of space and is better to remove it once in a while. Both log and dmp files can be removed to free the disk space. The files in pcache folder are used while running the job because your jobs are executed with pageable cache and not in-memory, hence those files are needed while running the job.

Well, first, just make sure it's the Mac version and not the Windows version (which indeed would not run on your Mac). You say "Windows Office" which is why I mention it. I think you probably just mean "Microsoft Office" though.
Next, is this on a disk (DVD), or did you purchase and download it from the Microsoft site?

  • How do I move music folders with individual music files from windows 7 to itunes folder so that they are recognizable and playble?

How do I move music folders with individual music files from windows 7 to the itunes library so the files are usable in itunes?

All of the following programs should work with Vista.
Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.
