Files not going to iCloud

Normally I keep a backup of all my files on an external hard drive (as well as storing episodes from tv shows that I don't watch as often or at all). So by the time iCloud became an available feature for itunes, a lot of episodes to the first five seasons of Futurama that I had on my computer were moved to the external hard drive.  I hadn't realy paid much attention to the whole iCloud feature until I realized that I could watch shows and movies directly from it.  So I did another back up of all my itunes files (I had bought more stuff since last back up) and deleted all the tv shows and movies from the itunes folder on my computer. But for some reason not all of my files are on iCloud, because when I try to play them it says file cannot be found and I don't have the ability to download them from iCloud either.
The weird part is that tv shows and movies that I have long sinced removed from my computer (one them I haven't even backed up on my external HD) before iCloud was available an be played from iCloud, but files that I have just recently removed from my computer cannot be played from iCloud.  Could someone explain to me why this isn't working?  It's not just futurama episodes, some episodes from other tv shows, and I believe a movie can't be played from iCloud as well.

On the iPad and iPhone tap Settings > iCloud
Swtich Documents & Data off then back on then reset the devices.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Why are my exported files not going to my email (receipts & business card)?  I have used 3 different ones...2 yahoo and 1 hotmail.  I have checked spam box also.

For the Receipts app I chose to export the info as a PDF file..an email was requested..I entered info and clicked send.  For the Business Card app I chose Send, not Print..an email was requested..I entered info and clicked send.  I haven't received anything, not even in my spam folder.

  • Numbers file not opening in iCloud on MacBook Pro

I have added Numbers to my iPad and have upgraded Numbers on my MACBOOK in order to open/view spreadsheets in iCloud.  I am having trouble getting files open on the MacBook from iCloud.  Says "file did not revert"?

Are you using the OS X app to open the file or your browser via Numbers beta for iCloud?

    Hello james beresford-wylie,
So the updated Numbers file is being updated on iCloud as both iPads are seeing it, but the Mac is not getting the new version in iCloud Drive.
My first thoughts are does the update show on icloud.com (on the Mac) and is the file showing in the Finder but pending the download.

If you still don't see the latest changes or you see an "in-progress change" icon or the iCloud Drive icon in the notification area (system tray), try to save a new document to the iCloud Drive folder. Then check the iCloud Drive folder to see if the changes appear.

  • Imported music files not going where they're supposed to go

Until recently I was on an eMac. Last year I purchased an external hard drive and easily moved all of my music files over to the external. At the time I set iTunes to 'direct' music files and folders to the external drive, not my laptop hard drive. This summer I got a MacBook and imported my iTunes library easily again. Since getting the laptop, it seems that every so often when I import a new Cd, the folder with the music files goes to the iTunes folder on my laptop hardrive, rather than to the 'My Music' folder I created on the external drive.
This happens maybe a third of the time and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason when it does happen. When I notice it I simply move the folders over to the external drive.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there any way to have ALL imported music directed to the external drive? (I thought I had already done so...)
    Thanks.

If you do not launch iTunes with the external hard drive un-mounted, and iTunes was pointed to it, iTunes will not change music folder locations. Once again, if iTunes is launched with the external hard drive un-mounted, and that is where you told iTunes the music folder was, iTunes will return to the default location on your internal hard drive.

  • File not going away

    Hello,
I have an issue with a file that is sitting on my desktop and I can't delete, neither pop an info window, I right clicked on it and try to show the package content and is all blank, can't rename it... well, I have no clue what to do with this file and why is there.
Just as a footnote, I just got my iMac back from the Genius dudes at Apple, they send me a RECALL email. Apparently there was something wrong with this batch of hard drives. But honestly I never had a problem in the years I had this computer. I called support about this file issue but they want to charge me now $19 to help me. Again, computer was fine ---> RECALL ---> computer comes back with weird file ---> I get charged (hmmm really?)
... oh well, sorry for the rant but thank you so much for any help.
    Cheers

    Thanks man.
But perhaps I didn't explain myself properly. The issue with this stubborn file happened after I got the computer back from the recall.
I didn't ignore the recall... I took my computer to Apple to be fixed, and this issue appeared after I got my iMac back... Not sure if it has aything to do with whatever they did.

  • Files not saving on iCloud from computer

I will create a document in iCloud from my Mac, and save it. When I check it on my Drive in the Finder though, there is an empty bar in the icon and will eventually say not downloaded, even though I am connected to wifi and my iCloud account accepts Documents and Data. Even if I create a pages document on my computer and drag it into my Drive, it still won't download into it. Anything I can do?

No, All you can do it try to find it the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.

  • Files not uploaded to iCloud

It looks as if the files on my iPad & iPhone were uploaded, but they don't appear @ https://www.icloud.com, nor are they synchronized.
Any hints what I could do?
    Thank you!

  • Contacts not going into iCloud from MacBook.

My contacts APPEAR to be missing from my address book on my iPhone 4 (5.0.1), but they are invisible. I can choose a contact when starting a new message, but the address book itself seems to only contain my name. In iCloud, my address book is also empty, save for my name.
I can't find where the problem can be fixed. In iTunes there is no Contacts sinc and in Contacts I can't find a way to tell it to upload to iCloud. I'm a newbie to Apple.....

OK. So last night I got an invitation from Apple to create an @me.com email address. When I bought my Macbook Pro this spring I created "[email protected]". Fine, I thought, I'll create 'another' since they invited me. So I followed the steps and created "[email protected]". POOF! My contacts appear on my phone. Thankyou I thought. So this morning I get out my MbP and open up MAIL to add [email protected] to my accounts. No go. I'm thinking I need to deleat the [email protected] off of my iPhone and off of my MAIL on my MbP. I'm afraid to do that since I have the contacts showing up on my iPhone now. The mail in iCloud works now too - since the [email protected] was created. Hmmm... Photos still not showing up in iCloud, but the stream is working on my iPhone.
Well, waiting to see has worked for me in the past, so I think I'll do the "wait and see" remedy again. I'll leave the [email protected] on both my phone and laptop and leave the [email protected] on the phone.
Learning all this stuff is neat, if a little scary, but it's worth it since I don't want to become a dinasour. "LOL" as they say.....

  • ITunes podcast file not going to recycle bin after deleted?

After I deleted podcast files from iTunes on my PC running windows XP, sometimes they didn't go to recycle bin but instead stayed in my podcast folder.

    I don't think you're doing anything wrong!
I had just deleted to Recycle Bin a whole bunch of podcast this morning, and after I read your post, I checked my PC.
It deleted about 30 and left 3.
    Looks buggy to me!

  • When I try to upload a file it goes through the correct proceedure, but does not change the remote file i.e.Index.htm

    Hi
I have an uploading problem to the server. The problem is when I try to upload a file it goes through the correct proceedure,
but does not change the remote file i.e.Index.htm, or three stages1.htm.
My Localroot folder is C:\Gods Plan Web\
The site map layout is C:\Gods Plan Web\Index.htm
The folder for the remote site is /public_html/
Should the local root folder mirror the remote site, i.e./public_html/
if this is so, what should I put into the
    (a) Local Root Folder box?
    (b) site map layout box?
The FTP is performing well other than changing the intended file.

You should be uploading only the contents of your local root to the public_html folder (remote root).
The index.html you use as your site's home page needs to be in your site root. If you look at your Files window in DW, you should have something like the following...
Site - Whatever you named your site
         index.html
         images
         pages
              page1.html
              page2.html
If you have any folder between Site - and the index.html page, like...
Site - Whatever you named your site
         mywebsite
              index.html
It will upload to the public_html while still in that folder, so to find your page online, you would need to type something like...
    www.mydomain.com/mywebsite
public_html should NOT appear within your local files and if it existed there, would cause a redundancy if uploaded. You would need to type www.yourdomain.com/public_html to see the uploaded pages.
If you could post a screen shot of your expanded Files window while connected to the server (just connect and click the Expand button in Files, don't drill down into any of the directories), we may be able to see the issue.

I am being asked to upgrade to iCloud Drive but indications are that I will not be able to access up to date details on any of my documents on my Mac without going into iCloud first.  Have I got this interpretation right or can I save changes to access the new versions on my iMac?

    That is Apple's statement:
Using iWork with iCloud Drive - Apple Support
    Options for iWork customers
You can upgrade to iCloud Drive today if you want to keep your documents up to date in iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, and you want to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com and the Share via iCloud feature.
You can upgrade to iCloud Drive later if you want to keep your documents up to date with your apps on iOS 7 or earlier and OS X Mavericks or earlier.
    Upgrade to iCloud Drive today
To access the most recent versions of your documents from a Mac with OS X Mavericks or earlier, you’ll need to go to iCloud.com and access Pages, Numbers, and Keynote from there. On a PC, you can install iCloud for Windows and set up iCloud Drive.
If you upgrade to iCloud Drive now:
Your documents will keep up to date across devices with iOS 8, Macs with OS X Yosemite, PCs with iCloud for Windows, and iCloud.com.
Your documents will no longer keep up to date on devices with iOS 7 and Macs with OS X Mavericks or earlier.
You’ll be able to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com.
You’ll be able to use the Share via iCloud feature with iOS 8, OS X Yosemite, and iCloud.com.
Documents you previously shared via iCloud will be accessible to collaborators.
    Upgrade to iCloud Drive later
Note that until you upgrade your iCloud account to iCloud Drive, you won’t be able to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com or the Share via iCloud feature.     If you don’t upgrade to iCloud Drive at this time:
Your documents will keep up to date across devices with iOS 8 and across devices with iOS 7 and Macs with OS X Mavericks or earlier.
You won’t be able to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com.
You won’t be able to use the Share via iCloud feature.
Documents you previously shared via iCloud won’t be accessible to collaborators until you upgrade to iCloud Drive.

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

  • Every time I try to update the 4s or 4 it is saying not enough storage. I am really hating this phone now because I am not going to buy storage. We have 5 iPhones on our account and now because of iCloud it does this.

your iCloud storage isnt part of your phone, that is a back up for your phone, you have to delete things on your phone, so I recommend backing up your photos to your computer or iCloud since im sure thats whats taking up all your storage, then delete the photos on your phone and then update your phone using iTunes on your computer.
