Files not uploading properly.

I'm having some problems uploading and accessing files that I am uploading on the web. after I finish with iweb i click publish, once the files have been uploaded I visit the site and I cannot see any of the pictures I have uploaded and I cannot even navigate between the pages that are on the site. I have been in the idisk and deleted some files in the folder that has the files for the sites and I think i have made matters worse by doing so. Is there anyway I can revert to a working situation. I know I have been a bit daft going in there and deleting index files and what have you. anyway hope there is a solution for this as I need to have these pics up and running for work. Thank you again for support.
David

Countless people have done what you want to do without problems, so something must not be quite right in the uploading. Please provide your url plus the name of your site inside the iWeb app, plus the name of your topmost page inside the iWeb app.
Here are some general tips you might check:

  • We think 5.0.2 has fixed it! (InCopy Files Not Synchronizing Properly)

Last year there was a topic (now archived) titled 'InCopy Files Not Synchronizing Properly' which discussed a problem with InCopy breaking the VC link after editing the story.
5.02 update ID and IC seems to have fixed it. We have only done a quick test but would be grateful if others users involved in this topic would have a look and report back to this thread.
I don't seem to be able to post to an archived topic, but am keen to let others know, so I have started this new thread.

We've only produced one magazine since upgrading to 5.0.2, but I've noticed *significantly* fewer version control issues (2 versus about 20) since last issue. A dramatic improvement.
Now if they could only fix that darn text wrap bug.

  • SWF file not working properly in Explorer

I have made a kind of slide show showing jpg images loaded
from the web in an swf file, and it will not work properly. It is
my first .swf application, and I am using the free downloadable
FlashObject.js to load the swf into the browser. The problem is
that it sometimes loads perfectly, while other times it will not
work at all! It is not the paths, because I have tried setting the
images in the same directory as the swf, and not importing the
image names thru flashVars. What drives me mad is that it works
consistently in Explorer, the first time I load it, and the first
time after I have cleared the temporary internet files. Otherwise
it will not load at all. In Firefox however, if randomly fails to
load about one time out of ten or something like that. The code is
compiled using the free downloadable compiler. Anyone have any idea
    what may be wrong?

I may be late but better late then...

You can nest hundreds of layers as long as all symbols are graphics.
People try to use a Movie symbol and this is script executed.

Trick to not crashing is in FLASH
Set publish settings to FLASH 8.
Never use FLASH 9 with Actionsscript 3... This adds a lot of instability.
1 of these swfs in a project could kill it.
I render SWF at 30fps at 1920x1080 then into AE, then scale down to SD wide screen resolution 720x480 16x9.. set scale to 45.5 x 44.5 percent.
I output final animation at Quicktime ANIMATION 100 millions of colors... 1.21 (16x9)audio added at 48k
I have hundreds of hours trying to make this work reliably and finally I got the mix.
Then I take QT to Premiere for final edit, audio and titles.

  • DW8 files not displayed properly in DW CS3

Any help will be greatly appreciated in the following
    question:
I've been using Dreamweaver 8 successfully in creating and
maintaining several websites. However, when I try to use the newly
purchased Dreamweaver CS3 on HTML files previously created on DW8,
the files are not displayed properly (all elements are jumbled up
together in the "Design" view). But, when I do a "Preview in
Browser", the pages are just fine.
Has any other DW user had similar experiences and if so, any
    solutions?
Thanks for any help out there!

DWCS3 is much less tolerant of code mistakes than was DW8,
    and your symptoms
suggest that this may be the cause of your problems. Do the
    DW8 pages
validate when you go here -
    http://validator.w3.org?
Can you post a link to some of these pages?

  • Dependant files not Uploading to Server CS5

When I click "Yes" to upload dependant files to the server, DW doesn't upload them. For example, I added a downloadable PDF file to a page, saved it, clicked PUT to upload it to the server, and then when I went to the web and clicked on the link, I got the White Page File Not Found.
I have checked in my Site preferences, and my Site Manager and everything looks right, I'm not sure what I'm missing?
    Thank you!

Sure, here is the page I worked on today. I added the very first link you see on the page, "Event Flyer"
    http://www.slaalosangeles.org/events
Then I saved the page, and PUT the events.html, and the page uploaded correctly but is missing the PDF for the flyer. I intentionally didn't select it and upload it on its own because I wanted to test the dependent files feature.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Jar file not starting properly when in dir with name 2 or more words

    Hello,
I have a pretty weird problem here. When I start my jar file from a directory like Test/MyJar.jar everything is fine. But if I try to start it from Test 1/MyJar.jar the file is not running properly. The jar file reads files from it's directory and the message I receive is can't find Test20%1/MyFile.txt.
    Any help will be appreciated.

Anyway. Probably the easiest thing is to not read from the directory. Rather, put the files you need to read into the Jar file itself, and read them using Class.getResourceAsStream.
This is a workaround, but it's a good one.

  • Png files not uploading

I'm using a couple of png files on a page. If I upload the page and choose to upload the dependent files - which would include the png files - the png files never upload to the server. Jpg and gif files get uploaded fine, but not png. When I view the files in local view, the png files have red slash through them. What the...? CS5.5 is what I'm using. Any clues?

When I view the files in local view, the png files have red slash through them.
The red slash means that your png files are "cloaked" (to use DW lingo).
Cloaking is a feature in DW which enables you to mark file types or folders to be excluded from site operations such as Get and Put. e.g. you might upload a huge file just once then exclude it from future Puts to speed up your workflow. Sounds like your pngs have been cloaked inadvertently.

  • File not displaying properly when launched

Hello, I'm using Cp6, Windows 7, Flash 11.9 and have a question.  I've created a cptx file for an overall tutorial.  I've inserted a video (Mp4) that I careated with Cp6 and published as an Mp4 file.  I inserted it via Video>Insert Video and chose Event Videof
When I publsh the overall tutorial cptx file which is SCORM 1.2 enabled I get the expeced set of files in the zip folder.  I tested playing this tutorial in SCORM Cloud, IE, Chrome, and FireFox with success.  The overall tutorial plays as expected and the video plays as expected.
When I handed off the zipped published files to somone to load in their LMS, everything works fine except when the Mp4 file is played, it launches fine, displays the first screen fine, and then continues to play however all of the screens after the first screen appear almost transparent.  And I believe the file the LMS people are loading is the Index_SCORM HTML file.  They said that's the one they upload to their LMS.
I have looked throughout Cp6 for a "setting" that would cause this "dimming" effect starting on screen 2 and do not see anything.
Here's a sample of the code the LMS people sent.  They think it cold be because of this opacity setting or value.
How is this opacity setting triggered in Captivate 6?  If it is this, any suggestions on how to resolve it?  Do you think this is what's causing the MP4 video to start dimming out on slide 2?  Again, this doesn't happen on any of the other files in the published folder such as the SWF file and it does not happen when I test the entire published zip folder on SCORM Cloud.
    Thanks a ton!

If you SCORM package as published from Captivate works perfectly well in SCORM Cloud then the issue is most likely with your client's LMS or the way the people administering it have loaded the course.
In any SCORM complian LMS I have worked with, the file that the LMS wants to look at first is NOT the index_SCORM HTML file. It's the imsmanifest.xml file.  That's the file that tells the LMS what assets to load and how the links in the LMS's SCORM Player TOC should be set up.  The user should be launching the SCORM package via the link in the LMS TOC.  My suspicion is that your LMS is not launching the content correctly and some of the required JS files are not being loaded.

  • Files not playing properly

I've never had this problem in the past but recently (in the past month or so) certain songs in my library will play properly up until a certain point and then iTunes stops responding. Once that happens I can't do anything on my computer until I force iTunes to quit. I've tried installing the newest upgrade and it hasn't helped. I've tried playing the files in other media players and encountered the same problem. It's even been known to happen to files that have just been added. I tried to create an AAC version of one of the files as an experiment and it gave me an error message (-3). I should also mention that I keep my library on an external drive. It has been accidentally unplugged once or twice while a song has been playing but I have no problems with the songs that were playing at the time. Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks for replying, William.
I'm using Robohelp version 8, HTML Help. The problem only occurs with the CHM file. Within the help, it checks out perfectly (when I click the links, Windows Media launches and the correct video starts playing).
I'm not sure where to place HTML code -- I've seen a few other examples that say to select Insert > HTML Controls > Tag. However, I haven't got a "Tag" menu option. Also, the Justin Cook code is for starting a video upon entering a page, which I do not want -- I want users to be able to select a control/link to view when they want to view...
Thanks again. I'd appreciate any other advice you can offer.

  • Video file not uploaded

I made some links to video files. I had done this before with audio files, published the site via .mac and it worked fine.
Now with videos I make a link to a video file and it works sometimes, and sometimes the file is not not loaded to the web. Strange - why?

I tried another FLV file with the same result.
I uploaded to two separate servers - on the secure server I did the old "drag and drop".
On our non-secure server, I was able to export the SWF directly to that web folder system.
Either way, I received the same result.
Neither video will open in Adobe Media Encoder (another program I have but know nothing about) - I received the a File Import Error stating "The source compresssion type is not supported."
They both open and function fine in Adobe Media Player (and if exported as SWF to my desktop).

  • IWEB updates not uploading properly, what am I doing wrong?

I am new to iWEB using FileZilla as FTP and Globat as domain.
Some updates to my iWEB site do not get loaded to the domain, such as format (colors, underlining) for the hyperlinks. Some of these changes do work. Couldn't get the root cause for it, although I do changes uniformly.
Besides, there is a delay between some minutes to a day or two for larger changes to show up in the site (such as a hyperlink to a 110MB file) although I could see in FileZilla this file after I uploaded it.
Followed Old Toad's advice and deleted iWEB cache/preferences file, moved iWEB domain file to the desktop and returned it back - at no avail.
Globat support was contacted and they told me that any change recorded at FileZilla takes place immediately at the domain.
    What should I try next?
    Appreciate your help on it!

    Moving to Illustrator forum.

  • Metadata not uploading properly?

... so I'm trying to use the web interface to upload a few files for a demo, and it's not quite working. I've brought the files into my local version of iTunes. I've edited the metadata there. I've tried uploading the files through the web interface, but every time I upload the files, the data I've entered in the "grouping" field doesn't get carried over from my local install of iTunes to the iTunesU system. Is there something here I'm misunderstanding?
I'm trying to upload a few files for a demo, and I want the info in the "grouping" field to be used as keywords by iTunesU - am I misunderstanding how the metadata works here?
    Any thoughts?

in case anyone else is having a similar problem, some more extensive searching of the forums led me to this post from 2008:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7764123&#7764123
The key info is as follows:
+One thing to know is that there are some field that iTunes U doesn't preview in get info prior to download. This is true of the grouping metadata field. This means that you if you do a "Get info" on a track prior to downloading it, it will not display the information that you entered (though it is searchable). However, if you download the content then do a "Get info" on the track in your Library the information will be there.+

  • Music Files Not Loading Properly On 80Gig iPod - (First time iPod User)

I bought a 80G ipod about 21/2 months ago it's great and all but lately, when I've been loading new Music on it does not load up properly only parts of the album will load up and leave certain part or sometimes even the whole album off despite copying the files information on to the player. When I reconnect my iPod and reload the music on again (once I've deleted the file that isn't working on the ipod) it works fine. It was okay the first few times but it's starting to become an annoyance. If anyone knows whats wrong or what I can do.. please let me know! Any help would be great appreciated! Thanks In Advance
