Files stored in disarray

I have just started to use Aperture and I'm having trouble with how the program is storing my files.
When I found them under Aperture (show content) they were not organized at all (my projects in Aperture is very organized). Is there anyway to change that so that they are at least in some sort of order on the hard drive?
Another very strange thing is that when I do a spotlight search for a project or a name of a photo, nothing comes up.. It's there, in Aperture but I can't find it if I'm not IN Aperture.
I just now when in to check something else and the file name that is normally under the picture is gone. How do I get that back?

Just wanted to address these specific points separately.
The process of copying them over to a external drive for safe keeping or to give to family gets harder.
Not really, for safekeeping you can choose to treat the library as any other data file on your system and use the backup procedures you've been using (you have been using something, right? ) to back it up. In addition you can use the built-in vault procedure to save your library.
Search for backup here in the list for lots of useful information.
As for giving images to friends and family that is what export is for. When you have an image or group of images adjusted to your liking you can export the versions to send to others. The added bonus of doing it this way is you can export the images using the specifications appropriate for the use thus saving time, space and bandwidth. No need to export at full resolution if the image will only be seen on a cell phone or monitor or on the web. Will the recipient be printing it out, up the resolution.
The bottom line is, I just like to know where stuff is.

Well its problematic as to whether having this knowledge will enable you (or anyone) to fix a problem. Its definitely good to have an idea where everything is kept. But as far as going into the library to actually fix something well.....
That's what command-oprion is for.
If I might suggest a way to become somewhat more familiar with the library: First create a new empty library, call it test. Open its package and poke around. Now add an image, poke around some more. Try messing with bits of it (remember this is a test library NEVER do this to a live library) and see what happens.
That and asking questions here will go a long way to helping you know where the stuff is.

I had the same experience as you did, but in my case it was a big fat pdf that Mail insisted I had to download before I could view it. As happened with you, I saw the file actually downloading, and after a time I was able to view the pdf. It's been my assumption that the pdf is still somewhere on my iPad, but I have no idea where, nor how to delete it if it is still there.

Opening pdf files stored on server

Hi
We have an application in which we display pdf files stored on the server.
Pdf files opens in a new browser.
User selects the invoice number from a list and based on the invoice selected, we get a pdf file from R/3 system. This file is stored in a particular folder on the server. We extract this file from the folder to show it to the user in a separate browser.
This functionality works fine in the development system but not in test system.
We have recently installed our test system and have done all required settings in config tool.
Config Tool --> Display configuration --> HttpHttps --> Root and Alias folder.
But despite this the functionality is not working.
Is there some other setting that I have missed.
Unfortunately these settings were done in the dev system by someone else and I do not have a document for it.
Can anyone help me please.
This is very urgent for me as we are plannning to migrate our production system as well. I may face the same problem over there as well.

Recently in my project I came across a scenario where my Web Dynpro Project had to pick the image from KM. The images to be displayed will be placed in KM. This will avoid loading the images into the Web DynPro project. More over when you have KM installed on your EP server, one can use it for storing backend data and resources. The KM Admin will be undertaking this task of uploading the images to predefined folder structures. Through the application path to the image will be provided dynamically giving you the flexibility to decide which image to be displayed according to the business logic.

1. Yes, if both drives are formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
2. Reformat the drives if needed, open the Time Machine pane of System Preferences, and remove the drive with the pictures from the list of items set to be excluded.

Drag your clip or clips into MPEG Streamclip. Then use FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME to export the clips in Apple Intermediate Codec.
Sometimes, MPEG2 clips also require that you install the Apple QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component. MPEG Streamclip will tell you if you need this. This is available from Apple for $20.

I can no longer see the files stored in my 160 ipod

I had 42 gigas in files. I was trying to copy one of those files from the ipod to my laptop and suddenly it frozes. I had to restart the laptop. When i open the ipod to se the files stored, i was no longer abble to see the files, eventhoug when i see the memory ocuppied in the ipod, is still there, but i can access to them. The music still works perfect. I had a couple of smaller files, like 1Giga and they still there and I can access to them perfectly. But the problem is in the file with the 42 Gigas.

Check your iPod's hard drive for errors. Open My Computer, right-click the drive, Click Properties, Tools, Check Now..., Select Options, Start.
Some of your missing files/folders may be restored although their names may be lost. 4gb is the max. file size on FAT32 so are we talking a 42gb folder rather than a single file?

I can't see from my PC the .pps files stored into Keynote in my iPad

Hi all, i would want to know if it's possible to see from my PC the .pps files stored into Keynote in my iPad 2. When i am syncronyzing the iPad with the PC, in the iTunes tab called Applications, in its end part there's a double panel (Share files): on the left side, under 'Applications', a list of the Apps. installed on the iPad; on the right side, under 'Documents', a list of the documents that the selected app. on the left has in the iPad.
No problem for Quicknote or Documents to go Premium: i can see the docs these apps. have in the iPad, and thus i can use the 'Save in' option to copy them to my PC, and also i can use the 'Add' option to transfer docs from my PC to the selected app.
The problem is with Keynote application: while i have two docs in this app. in my iPad, i can't see them from iTunes; and also, i can't see in the iPad the docs i transfer to the Keynote app. with the 'Add' button.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the Keynote app. on the iPad (without rebooting the device between the two things) without result.
Any help on this matter would be appreciated. Regards.

I have seen the solution: i have to explicitly share the files from Keynote options:
- IPad --> iTunes: with the presentation open, Configuration > Share and print > Send to iTunes.
- iTunes --> iPad: '+' > Copy from: iTunes.

It seems that I'm not allowed to link my iPad mini and my work iMac using two different accounts, so I'm wondering how to make my single personal account work for both, while keeping personal vs work files reasonably separated.

In iCloud Drive you could create two separate custom folders, one for work documents and one for private documents and organize your documents there. Don't use the app specific folders (Keynote, Pages, Numbers, ...) , because you can only create one level of folders inside these folders.

Reading an XML file stored in Oracle

Is it possible to read an xml file stored in Oracle via Oracle methods?

If by "read" you mean "read as text", then you can just select the document as a CLOB and return it.
If by "read" you mean "read and parse", then you can use the Oracle XML Parser for PL/SQL to parse the CLOB into a DOM structure.
My Building Oracle XML Applications book has lots of examples of doing this, but especially in chapter 5, "Processing XML with PL/SQL".

How to modify the contents of a text file stored along with a midlet

Hi,
I have been developing a application in j2me wherein i need to first read the contents of the text file stored along with the midlet and later erase the existing content and update it with some text.
I was able to read the file in the following manner
InputStream is = getClass().getResourceAsStream("myfile.txt");
Now i need to erase the contents and then update it the new content, how do i do it. Kinldy please help me out. It is very urgent.

Does Time Machine overwrite files stored as network storage

I am planning to use my new 1 TB Time Capsule as a NAS as well as a location for my Time Machine backups. Will the files (like movies) that I store on the Time Capsule be overwritten when Time Machine runs out of room for backups? I read that it was true on another site, but it seemed too rediculous to be true! I want my documents secure! A back up program that deletes needed files is counterproductive. Also, when I save an archive of the HDD to another HDD for off site storage, would it transfer everything that was on the drive? Thanks for the help!

No. Time Machine will not overwrite existing files stored on the Time Capsule. There will just be less space available for backups.
Also, when I save an archive of the HDD to another HDD for off site storage, would it transfer everything that was on the drive?
If you are referring to the Time Capsule's archive feature, then yes it would transfer everything on the Time Capsule's hard drive to a USB hard drive.
The archive goes into a dedicated folder on the USB drive and doesn't affect anything else on the drive. Subsequent archives don't delete the earlier ones; a new folder is created with a version number appended.

3. Modified HLS and HDS content storage in httpd.conf (copied and pasted under original settings): The location names are /hls-vod2 and /hds-vod2, correct?

All of Adobe's documentation says that files specified in the vod_common_dir can be streamed from both http and rtmp, but there is no specific mention of what the correct rtmp URL is for files stored on an additional hard drive. Here's what I did to get around this: FMS 3.5 can't connect to media on other drive
1. HLS streaming:
    a. Modified: rootinstall/conf/fms.ini: added a new parameter for HTTP and RTMP streaming: VOD_COMMON_DIR_2 = G:\vod2\media
    b. Modified: rootinstall/applications/vod/Application.xml: Added <StreamManager><VirtualDirectory><Streams>/vod2;${VOD_COMMON_DIR_2}</Streams>
2. RTMP streaming: Added the file path of the external storage in the virtual directory of the Application.xml file without specifying or naming the application.
    a. <Streams>/;G:\vod2\media</Streams>
    b. The rtmp for this follows the starndard URL convention: URL Syntax: [protocol]://[servername]/[application]/[codecID:][streamname][.extension]
    c. In my case, this would be: rtmp://localhost/vod/mp4:1.Test.mov
It would be nice if this worked according to Adobe's documentation, and hopefully someone can chime in with the correct answer to the original question. If not, this gets rtmp and http streaming to work from the same external location (what vod_common_dir is supposed to be able to do).

Picking a IDOC Flat File stored in SAP R/3 Application Server by SAP PI

Hi,
Can SAP PI pickup a IDOC Flat File stored in SAP R/3 Application Server Directory and send it back as an Inbound IDOC.
Scenario:
We have a data in the EXCEL Sheet, which will be used to a fill an IDOC and the IDOC will be just save in the SAP R/3 Application Server Directory, but can not be triggered due to its peculiar behavior. Afterwards, SAP PI should pole the SAP R/3 and pick up that IDOC Flat File from the R/3 Application Server and send it back to the SAP R/3 as an Inbound IDOC.
For Ref: IDOC does not have a Outbound Process Code, thus can not be triggered and send to SAP PI. It is always used as a Inbound IDOC in SAP R/3 system.
