Files stored in wrong place...

Media files should be stored on my F: drive as I specified in advanced settings. My ebooks are stored there correctly. But apps, album art, and .itl/.xml file are in My Documents taking up too much space on my root drive. No I see that external drives can cause problems, but this is a desktop and the external drive is always live. Nothing should be saved to C drive. (And you really make it a pain in the butt now to do backups; I only backup my F drive, not my C drive)
How can this be fixed? I'll wait 7 days or then I am returning this thing. I will not use iTunes if it cannot do basic file operations. Put the files where I tell you.

hi E63 users
i bought a 8Gb microSD and from within the E:/ drive, i have a folder SOUNDS which inside has 2 folders: DIGITAL and SIMPLE... these where created by themselves (?)
i was told to create a MP3 folder of my own inside SOUNDS and put my music there, in order for the Music Player to UPDATE its playlist, but when i start that app the nokia E63 just lingers there, doing an update and scanning the all phone.
after 1/2H it still doesnt find a single track (many of my songs are around 15Mb) so i tried to copy/paste by pack of 20 songs but with 780 songs in all to copy to the card, i might be there all week!
ive tried also the bluetooth and the songs do go from my mac to my nokia, and when i save the song it goes to the phone MUSIC GALLERY - but im afraid thats within the phone own internal MEMORY and i dont want that (my 5gb playlist wont fit in nokia E63 internal 1Gb memory) so thats why i bought a 8Gb micro SD!
thanks for any tip on this matter, greetings from portugal - Alexa.

  • JWS requests jar files at the wrong place

    Hi all,
I created JWS project with netbeans, and by deafult, NB places all required jar files in the "lib" folder. NB also created jnlp file with correct paths to required files. It looks like this
    <update check="always" policy="always"/>
    <resources>
         <jar download="eager" href="main.jar" main="true"/>
         <jar download="eager" href="lib/required.jar" main="false"/>
</resources> Now, when app is started, required.jar is correctly located at lib folder and application works, but from that moment on, JWS makes hundreds of request for "${codebase}/required.jar" (obviously wrong place) and gets 404 responses. It keeps making these requests as long as app is running and this slows down application significantly.
My temp workaround was to move required.jar to codebase root and problem is gone, but i still find it weird. I guess this may explain some complaints about slow JWS.
Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrong? Is there anything I can check?
    Thanks!

  • How can I add links to open xml and csv files stored in another location? Please advice how to place links in my frame maker document?

    Hi,
I would like to know as to how can I add links to open xml and csv files stored in another location? Please advice how to place links in my frame maker document?
    Kindly advice.
    Thanks
    Priya

Special > Hypertext > Command "open document" will do its best to open the target document inside FrameMaker, which may not be much help; Special > Hypertext > Command "message …" will use the application you specify. The user guide for 7.0 says this about absolute links, and I don't think anything has changed since:
For example, to start PaintBrush and open the Ship.pcx file on drive C you would use the command message system pbrush.exe C:/Ship.pcx
I've not often used a relative link, and not recently: the same source says
folder levels are separated by a slash / even in Windows and Mac
[relative links] FrameMaker searches for a relative pathname beginning in the folder that contains the current document
[absolute links] FrameMaker searches for an absolute pathname beginning at the top of the file system. In Windows, the absolute pathname begins with the drive specifier, a colon and a slash.

  • How to restore emlx files in their rightful place (Mail.app)

This might be the wrong place to post this, but I don't really know where else to try. The story goes like this.
My girlfriend uses mail for business and personal, but never filed any of her emails away. There they were, 2000+ emails all in one folder. I don't know why, but it drove me nuts and one evening I tried to file them all away, with hideous consequences.
I somehow managed to create two folders with the same name. I then tried to delete the empty one, but of course, as Murphy's Law dictates, the app deleted both of them.
About 60% of her emails were deleted. No undo, no look in the trash, nothing.
Boy was I in trouble. So I shelled out $80 on FileSalvage, which managed to get them all back. But of course now they come in a single folder with different names (1.emlx, 2.emlx , rather than 6378.emlx etc etc)
Now I've got them in a folder on the desktop, and I need to find a way to get them back where they belong. As the details of where they used to be are still stored in the "envelope index", is there a way of launching terminal and looking at the data in the sql lite db here? Then making some sort of applescript that will save them in the right places?
I'm fairly au fait with applescript, but have no way of finding what the previous names of these files were.
Obviously I've learnt my lesson - so no "should have backed it up" responses, please! Girlfriend still very annoyed. And it all happened 6 weeks ago!

What makes you think this could be the wrong place to post about your problem? I wish all posts here where as on-topic as yours.
Mail has some bugs and glitches when it comes to manage mailboxes. If you see strange things happening when doing so, quit Mail and make a backup of the ~/Library/Mail folder before trying to "solve" the problem by deleting anything.
Back to the problem, verify/repair the disk first (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there's enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), proceed as follows if you want to re-create the index:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be "imported". Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it's "importing", but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
You can import the *.emlx messages back into Mail by creating a folder with an .mbox suffix (e.g. Recovered.mbox), then a Messages folder within that folder, and moving all the *.emlx messages to be imported within the Messages folder.
In Mail, do File > Import Mailboxes, choose Mail for Mac OS X as the data format, and follow the instructions to import the recovered messages. Note that Mail wants you to select the folder that contains the *.mbox folder, not the *.mbox folder itself.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.

  • Can i organize files stored on icloud

This may be the wrong place to post this question, but...

Yes, just drag one file onto another and that will create a folder.  But there is only one level deep allowed.

  • IPhoto - My iPhoto is not responding. When I click on iPhoto I get a never ending spinning beachball.  I almost think it is looking in the wrong place for the pictures.  How do I redirect it back to the Mac hard drive?

My iPhoto is not responding.  Whenever I click on the iPhoto icon I get a twirling beachball.  It is as if the machine is looking in the wrong place for the photos.  How can I see where the machine is looking to find out if this is really the problem.  How can I see the path?

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it doesn't then the problem lies with your current library.
If that's the case  Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Export to PDF puts trims in wrong place.

When I export a pdf from CS3, selecting crop marks puts the trim marks in the wrong place, we are only talking 0.25 of a millimeter, but this is causing us problems sending files to publication. It seems to us that the crop marks are being made too long and this is causing everything to shift.
    A A4 page with a 5mm bleed and 5mm crop marks comes out as 230.6 x 317.6.
If I print the page and select a custom size, InDesign is also giving to wrong size.

  • I am trying to configure my SCXI-1540 card for excitation voltage and frequency using MAX - but it is not giving me that option when I click on the card and then properties, am I looking in the wrong place?

I am trying to configure my SCXI-1540 w/1315 card for excitation voltage and frequency using MAX - but it is not giving me that option when I click on the card and then properties, am I looking in the wrong place?
I have LabVIEW Express 7.0 Professional - SCXI-1000 Chassiss - along with SCXI-1112, and SCXI 1520/1314 - cable to the PCI-6052E is attached to the 1520 card.
MAX says it recognizes all the cards in the chassiss.

    Jeremy, Thanks for the reply.
I tried to set up the system as DAQmx.
I had MAX auto-detect the set-up - and it recognized all the cards - but did not select the 1315 accessory on the 1540 card - I had to do that manually - but in the configuration section I would select the accessory and it would deselect itself. I had to get out of the set-up and then right click on the 1540 card and click on the "Accessories" tab and select the 1315 terminal block that way.
It didn't seem right that the system should behave that way, but I pressed onward.
I then tried to create a new DAQmx Task
When I create new DAQmx task and then click on Analog Input no "Position" Tab appears for me to select, all I get are:
    Analog>>Voltage
    Analog>>Temperature
    Ana
    log>>Strain
    Analog>>Current
    Analog>>Resistance
    Analog>>Frequency
    Analog>>Custom Voltage with Excitation
Do you think there might be something wrong with either my hardware or perhaps my configuration that is not allowing it to recognize the 1540/1315 in DAQmx?
I had included the system report of what programs I am using, etc. as attached file nireport.txt
After the DAQmx did not work I tried installing everything as Traditional DAQ and it did let me set-up the 1540 Card with Excitation Voltage and Frequency and gain - I then went in to the VI that I had built and tried to use the Express DAQ Assisant to read the channel that I am connected to on the 1315/1540 - when I try to use DAQ Assistant it gives me an error saying that "Device not available in NI-DAQmx. It is possible that the device is being use by traditional NI-DAQ"
Which I guess it is since both configurations are now set-up in MAX.
I would PREFER to use the DAQmx set-up, but I am confused as to WHY it won
    't come up with
    Analog input>>POSITION>>LVDT
When I try to create a new DAQmx task.
Thanks for the help so far! As you can probably tell I am new at this.

  • Launching Microsoft Access from Internet Explorer to view a downloaded MDB file opens the wrong file (not a problem if I use Firefox)

When clicking on a link (in Internet Explorer 9) to download an Access MDB file and then choosing to open the file directly in Microsoft Access (2007) instead of saving it, the file is copied to Temporary Internet Files but Microsoft Access tries to open
a different file and displays an (Unrecognized database format) error.
When I click on the option to open the file, the MDB file is copied to Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 but instead of that file, Access tries to open a different (incorrect) file located in Temporary Internet Files\Content.MSO (e.g. in the above error
message, NativeView.do is an XML file containing an error message).
I don't see this problem with Word, Excel or PowerPoint files. When opening a Word file (without saving) the Word file is copied to Content.IE5 but an identical .tmp file is created in Content.MSO which when opened in Microsoft Word displayed the required file
correctly. The same happens for Excel files. PowerPoint appears to be handled a little differently (no .tmp file created in Content.MSO but the required file is still copied to Content.IE5) but the PPT file is still opened correctly in Microsoft PowerPoint.
I think the Content-Type "application/msaccess" is fine because Internet Explorer does launch Microsoft Access. It just tries to open the wrong file (or so I think). However, it looks like the file type is not being determined. Here is what I noticed
when trying to open different Microsoft Office files using Internet Explorer:
The last one is the MDB file. As you can see, only for this type of file, the "Type" (Microsoft Office Access 2007?) is not displayed in this Open/Save dialog box.
On Firefox, I don't see this problem. When I tried clicking on the link to the MDB file in Firefox, Microsoft Access was launched and the file was opened correctly. Is there something I can do so the MDB file is opened properly using IE? I can add/change headers
in the HTTP response that writes this file to the output stream (on disk) if that helps.
    Thanks for your time!

Sounds like a problem symptom to be discussed in either an IE forum or an Access forum, not here.  How did you come to post here?  ForumsRedesign.  That might be an on-topic issue for this forum.  <eg>
Can you find your way to either of those other forums easily from here?  Another on-topic question for here I think.   ; )

  • List files stored in a Directory Object

    Hi,
I looked on Google, on Oracle DB docs and here to find a convenient way to list files stored in a DIRECTORY for batch loading in a table with PL/SQL. But no luck, UTL_FILE doesn't seem to have a method for directory listing. I saw examples with some workaround like putting files list in a text file prior to loading. The directory is feeded by other process and network services, so I don't know the filelist that I need to import and, then delete. I dont have access to the server console and it's impossible for me to dump a kind of «dir» result into a text file. I saw other examples using Java, but it looks like I don't have access to Server Side Java too.
Is there a simple way to do that in PL/SQL only?
If not, I'll ask to the DBA the necessary rights to compile/run java on the server side...
The DB target versions for this requirement are 10g and 11g (mainly) on Windows environment.
    Thanks
    Bruno

    brlav35 wrote:
The XUTL_FINDFILES seems to be the more convenient way. If that works for you, I certainly have no objection. In a lot of environments, though, that package would be problematic.
    1) It must be installed in the SYS schema. That's generally frowned upon and lots of sites would never allow user code to go into the SYS schema. Chris is a bright guy, so I'm sure the risk of it causing harm is minimal (most likely during an install or upgrade), and it will almost certainly never cause you harm, but that would be a political show-stopper at a lot of places.
    2) The package body is wrapped (if there is a version with the package body in clear text, this point is moot). Again, Chris is a well-respected guy, so I have every confidence that the code is not malicious, but asking a DBA to install a wrapped package you downloaded from the internet into the SYS schema on a production database should generate a crud-load of red flags. This is almost certainly just a theoretical danger, but DBAs and audit compliance regulations care a great deal about theoretical dangers. If someone hacked the web site and uploaded their own wrapped bit of code that had a back door, for example, it would be very hard to catch.
    3) Under the covers, the package is querying one of the undocumented X$ views. Oracle is free to change those views over time, which would potentially cause the package to stop working or stop working correctly in some way. If you're developing code for a system that may be around for a number of years, that becomes a concern. It's unlikely that Oracle will change the particular X$ view that is being referenced here over the lifetime of your code base, but it's more than a trivial concern.
    4) The package is determining what directories a user has access to, that's not Oracle enforcing the restriction. Probably not too big a deal, but it is probably safer from a regulatory compliance standpoint to be able to rely on Oracle the database enforcing privileges rather than relying on a delivered package to enforce those privileges. It's the difference between telling Oracle via specific grants which directories the JVM can access vs. writing your own wrapper that enforces those restrictions. In the end, the restrictions are enforced, but in one case you're relying on the developers of the Oracle database and in the other you're relying on external developers.
Just to re-iterate-- Chris is a brilliant guy, I don't mean this in any way to impugn him or his code. I am totally confident that his code works, that it works well, and that it will continue to work going forward. My concerns are purely on the political/ regulatory side of things, not on the technical side of things. Technically, I am confident that the code is top-notch.

    chessyy,
Sorry that you had this problem.
The software coupons are pretty much useless unless Apple says they are worth something for a very specific reason. In your case they will be worthless.
You do not tell us much about your iMac, but as you have 512-768M of RAM, 10-15% free Hard Drive space, and a 733-1GHz processor I would recommend that you Upgrade to Tiger. Be sure to read the iLife '06 System Requirements and Notes for your own edification.
Tiger can be purchased at AppleRescue for $79.00.
You can install it over iLife '06 using an Archive and Install. Software update will bring you to the latest version of Tiger.
I will mention this last, but it really should be your first step...backup your important files.

  • Using files stored on remote web server/cdn as content repository

    Hello,
Is it possible to create a document/asset in WCC that does not have it's physical file stored within the local file system/database but instead is stored in a CDN?
We want to develop a system whereby files that are stored in a CDN are searchable/viewable/downloadable by users. The file metadata (name, description, mime type, size etc) including the URL for the file within the CDN is known. If we could send the metadata to WCC, is it possible to create the asset such that when the user clicks to view the web-viewable format the CDN URL is used and, likewise, when they click to download the video the file URL for the CDN is used.
    Thanks
    Iain

With the direction given by SnakeEyez02, I was able to solve my issues. Going to get very detailed here....
I was somewhat stuck because I couldn't understand that when you create the site locally, how do you get it to work online. When I created the DB locally and had usernames and pwords to access, it worked fine. I thought that I could 'preview' the remote site in dreamweaver, which can be done, but takes a bit of work around (create new DB connection, add your IP to remote access list, etc). So I was stuck trying to 'preview' my site on my machine, which won't happen because the hostname should be 'localhost' even on the remote. This is because the website AND db are running on 'localhost' because my host (Bluehost) runs off 'localhost'. So I could never 'preview' the remote site due to the db running "locally" on the remote.
With Bluehost, they automatically change a few things:
Bluehost places certain characters in front of any username and the database. So when I export from local and import to remote, my DB went from "TBO_Golf" on the local to "(Bluehost characters)_TBO_Golf" on the remote.
The username and pword combo I was using on my local test had to be changed to match my remote credentials. Bluehost limits the amount of characters on usernames and places specific characters in front of any username. So I had to change it from "(Local username)" to "(bluehost inserted characters)_(username)" and matching password. I could have left it and it would have worked, but every time I wanted to update, I would have to change the username/pword combo every time I went from local to remote and vice versa. So I'd rather save myself the headache and just change the local to match.
So, when I uploaded the site to the remote, the only thing I had to do was update the DB name. I went to the website and 'TA-DA!!!' My dynamic pages now work!
Thanks so much to SnakeEyez02 and Rob Hecker2 for their help!

  • Linking Soundtrack Pro to audio files stored on an external drive

FCP user but using SP for the first time. I have the large sized audio files stored on an external drive which at the moment I can't access from within SP. Just wondering the best way to link to the audio files?

I actually use the 'save as' function that consolidates all the audio clips and move them onto a separate drive. I'm doing a lot of large projects that have more clips than are actually used. Consolidation means I can move and work on another machine. And in the end it's easier to archive this single directory of files. Works for me, especially because sometimes the audio sources are scattered in too many places on my system.
