Files won't download properly

Lately I've been having trouble installing a few applications. Some don't do anything when I trying opening them and other just say "There is no default application selected to open the document". I tried setting this- /Applications/Utilities/Installer.app as the default to open them, but the installer application was missing. Then I installed Pacifist to re-install the Installer and this message came up- "Pacifist was unable to open the file Installer.app. Please make sure this is a file type that Pacifist understands."
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

The Installer application is located inside one of the pkg items on the Mac OS X installation disks or updaters; you may also be able to find it by browsing the installation disk in the Finder. The Installer cannot be opened by Pacifist directly.

Exe file won't download when trying to install firefox

I'm trying to install firefox on a windows 7 laptop and the .exe file won't download. Whenever I click the link it says: failed - network error. I've tried rebooting and downloading form other sites and get similar issues. Any ideas on what's causing this?

The full setup. The exe file did work at times yesterday but as I said above it kept saying the download was interrupted after it had been downloading for about 20 minutes. I tried again today and the exe file won't open or download again.

I purchased a song at the iTunes store yesterday and after multiple tries it still won't download correctly and the error message I see says the file is corrupt and to try again later - but still no success

Have you actually checked your Movies folder ( Users > YourUserName > Movies ) just in case there are backups in there? Worth a try.
What happens if you launch the app with the external media drive disconnected - if it happens to be a corrupt media file, the app should launch fine with no media connected.
If it doesn't I suggest you fully delete FCP X and reinstall it - if you're able to do that.

Videos from purchased CD won't download properly - Errors 3159 or 3250

I bought and downloaded Beck's new CD. Several videos were part of the package but none of them downloaded. Each had either of the two following Errors: 3159 or 3250. How do I get them to download properly without repurchasing the entire thing...which I'm not about to do? Btw, I'm using the latest, updated version of iTunes.

I had the exact same problem with the exact same CD. It successfully downloaded 3 of the songs/videos, and charged me for the whole CD...and I too had errors for most of them.
Please help -- because I also do not want to buy the CD again!

Websites won't download properly

many (or most) of the websites I visit , will not download properly. Mainly Facebook, YOu Tube etc etc. Any quick simple suggestion??? it is driving me CRAZY, the little wheel at the right side of my browser, just continues to spin CONSTANTLY, and I can get nowhere. We have Wi-Fi in the house and our i-pad is doing the very same thing!!!!

It's an old chestnut, but it often works - try repairing parmissions and reset your PRAM.

Videos won't download properly from my digital camera

I recently bought a 7.2 megapixel digital camera and on any of the video settings that I record a video, the videos don't import properly into iPhoto. The thumbnail in iPhoto is just a black square and it shows the length of the video in seconds. when I click on it to play in quicktime, all i see is a white screen. In the Finder, the thumbnail is a white box. In QuickTime, the sound works fine, just no images. Any ideas???

check your camera specs and see what the file type is of the video clips.
How long are your video clips?
Have you tried using Image Capture and see if the clips download correctly?
Using Image Capture to download images and video clips:
Open up Image Capture which is found in the Applications folder.
When it is opened, go to Image Capture/Preferences
Under the General button choose
Camera: When a camera is connected, open Image Capture.
The next time you connect your camera Image Capture will open.
In the window that opens you will see an Options button. Click on that button to set your options.
To find out more about Image Capture (it can do a lot more) Click on Help in the menu bar when Image Capture is open.

This is the WMP plugin: np-mswmp , so you have it.
You may be missing a codec to play that content or some extension or security software is blocking that content.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

V.4.2 won't download properly

Hello - Just tried to download the Desktop Manager 4.2 for my Pearl several times and the only thing that downloads is the ReadMe. I also Removed the program and tried again, and still no icon appears on desktop, and when you click on the program in program files, only the Readme is there, not the program. Any ideas? Thanks!

I use PeppermintOS Two, everything was find, but 3 days ago mozilla stop from downloading hotmail properly!!!

First of all i really like to thank you for your concern on trying to help me, however i must tell you that i did a fresh install of my system wich is PeppermintOS(GNU/Linux) i don't use Windows and never will, i use to have it in the past and that OS is troublemaker, now about my problem i sadly have to tell you that none of the above solutions fix my problem, is driving me crazy, speciall because as i told you, this is a fresh new installation of my OS, so i am wondering why is doing this, it was working fine couple weeks ago and suddendly start having this behaviour and as you know email are nodays some thing we realy on, so is there any other thing i can do to fix this? do i need to give you some other info so you can guide me in the right directions? please let me know. I deleted my realmedia .plist, which perhaps wasn't a good idea, and now when i go this website: http://www.kcm.org/media/webcasts/index.php , I'm unable to download the mp3s from it, whereas before Safari just opened up the download window, downloaded the file and I went on my merry wey, now it opens a new window, plays the file if I want, but I can't save the thing.
How do I reset Safari to download the way it originally did?

Certain files won't play properly

I've never had this problem in the past but recently (in the past month or so) certain songs in my library will play properly up until a certain point and then just stop and give me the beach ball. Pnce that happens I can't do anything on my computer until I force iTunes to quit. I've tried installing the newest upgrade and it hasn't helped. Any idea what's wrong?

P.S. I just tried playing some of these files on other media players and encountered the same problem. At a certain point in the track the program stops responding entirely. It's even been known to happen to files that I've just added. Also, I keep my library on an external drive and it's accidentally been unplugged while playing once or twice (though the songs that were playing at the time aren't the ones that are problematic).
P.P.S. I tried to create an AAC version of one of the files just now and it gave me an error message (-3). Hope that can give more insight into the issue.

You just charged me for Acrobat Pro. You're asking for $14.95 a month. The goddam file won't download to my computer. It made me close it and restart it at least seven times. I don't have it now. I'm calling American Express. You've made me really angry.

The loading of the program got to 39% seven times. Then it demanded I close it and restart it, which I did. The last time I gave up. I want to be able to edit Adobe files, but I guess I'm going to have to do without your help. You better pull back my charges. American Express is on my side, not yours.

Please make sure that you're logged in as an admin, and temporarily disable any anti-virus software. Then, try to download from this page: Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | XI, X. Large .pdf file won't download

Hello:
I have searched the messages relating to downloads and timeouts, and have not found an answer to my problem, so here goes! I am attempting to download a very large (19 MB) .pdf, and the process seems to be timing-out about 1/3 of the way through. (I have been able to download this file onto a Windows-based computer, and it took an hour!) I do not get any timeout messages -- the download window just stops showing any progress, the blue line disappears altogether and the Resume button does not appear. If I click the Reload Page button, the download starts over from the beginning and then stops again after about 15 minutes. My iMac is connected to a DSL line via a router -- the PC is directly connected to the DSL line. I have zipped the .pdf (all the way down to 13 MB - zowie!) and tried e-mailing myself the file from the PC -- and Outlook Express times out after 5 minutes (the longest setting available there). >8-[
Anyway -- is there some way I can keep the download process going long enough to acquire the file on the iMac? Thanks in advance for your help on this -- it's very frustrating!

Corrupted file won't download...

One of the songs I downloaded will not download correctly. I keep getting the error that it is corrupted and download it from Store. When I do, the file looks like it downloads, but then the error pops up again. I can't go and re-purchase the song because it says it is already sitting in my Store. What do I do?
