Filesystem version looks good, web-served not so much

I have created a WebHelp project from my FrameMaker book. When I click View in RoboHelp, RoboHelp opens it in my browser as a file, and it looks like I want it to look. I can also exit RoboHelp and open the file directly from my browser.
But when I copy the WebHelp folder to my web server and try to view it through http, none of my styles appear.
Here's what it looks like from the filesystem...

If I manually edit RHMappingStyles.css and turn the text to, say, green, it works in the file system version, but not in the http version.
I've also tried editing the title.css (the page is title.htm). Yet, if I edit text in title.htm, it does show up, so I know I've found the correct files for both versions.
What do I need to do to get my styles applied to the file when deployed to a web server?

Hi there
I notice you are using LocalHost. That's sort of a web server on your own local C drive no?
Have you tested by publishing to the actual server that will be used? Or is LocalHost where everyone will be accessing it from?

You can go to server_root/bin/https/bin and run "./ns-httpd -v" command:
# ./ns-httpd -v
Sun Netscape Alliance

For the current 6.x versions, you can use the start script of the instance like follows:
# ./start -version
Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Sun ONE Web Server 6.1SP1 B12/19/2003 22:19
Please note that 4.1 version is no longer supported. You
should plan to upgrade to a supported version like 6.1.

If your running on a Unix box you can execute the following from Apache/bin to find out : httpd -v

Video looks good, text does not

My video looks good, but the titles, Ariel bold - 78 pt bold and 68 pt regular, white text on top of black bar set at 50% opacity look lousy. The text is not crisp and angular as it should be. It looks great on my monitor and when rendered to flv, but when rendered mpeg-2 to dvd with the highest specs as instructed, it looks lousy. In fact, it looks the same as when I rendered it with the default settings to dvd. Any suggestions?
I just found this on the web, is this the best solution?
"Never use premiere for effects, titles, ect. Use After Effects then render it to a uncompressed animation clip - alpha settings selected. reimport to premier lay it down and gaze at beauty. Compression is bad, premier compresses everything it renders, the more you compress-layers, the more degredation and pixelation"
I posted the Creative Cow message on the After Effects forum and was told to ignore it. I have rendered in so many different ways and configurations to mpeg-2 and my titles that are 68 px and 78 px still look almost rounded instead of angular and crisp. Help....

Well first off i will start with mpeg2 dvd is ancient and horrible technology and always looks bad to me... that being said what are your specific specs. If you have an hour or video or less then you should be encoding as 9mbit CBR and that is as good as your going to get.
for all we know you could be trying to put 3 hours of video on a single layer dvd and using 3mbit data rate which will look very bad.
there could be several issues, are your fields correct? reversed fields can make graphics look pixelated. what are you viewing your dvd on that makes it look so bad? i have noticed many hdtv lcd flat panels when given a SD DVD video look horrible.
export a single still image of your text and view it in photoshop, then render out a mpeg2 version of your video and import it back into premiere and export a single frame of it also. then load them into photoshop and compare, you can composite them side by side and post a pic for us to see what you are describing and try to troubleshoot it for you.

Web-server not serve web pages from 2nd NIC

My Scenario:
Ethernet 0 is my internal NIC
Ethernet 1 is my external NIC (Internet)
Firewall is off right now for testing purposes.
I can web serve all day long on the internal NIC
I can not serve anything on the External NIC
I can ping the External NIC
I can setup a Windows Box with IIS with the same IP settings and I can serve all day long with the windows box.
When I look at the access log it shows that there was a request and it tried to serve but the clients don't receive anything.
I see nothing under the error logs.

With an out-board firewall, you can do what you want. (I happen to like this particular configuration for other reasons, too.)

Local web server not being recognized

I setup a web server on my LAN specifically so both a PC and a Mac could use HTTP protocol and store and retrieve files. The servername is called UBUNTU. On any PC in the house I can type http://ubuntu/ and the directory listing appears. The Mac can not find it.
If I use the IP address, the server is recognized. The directory listing appears. And, when I use FTP in Terminal I can even get a file upload to work as long as the file is in the same directory I started the FTP. But, this Mickey Mouse will just not work for my application. What I want to do is schedule a daily upload of newly created music from the days work. If the producers did not like this Mac, I would trash it. I am so frustrated!
This is the first time I've used a Mac and so far I find it to be way overrated. I mean, how many computers can not access a web server out of the box? The Safari browser I am using has no trouble accessing the Internet but my "intranet" seems to baffle Safari. I would expect a problem if using SMB were a requirement. It is not - I simply want to use HTTP. How do I need to change the Mac configuration so that it works?

Oh well, the music producer using the Mac just installed Yummy and immediately did the uploads he wanted to do. Yummy also has a scheduling function so the Mac will be able to use Yummy on the producer's schedule. (I usually use FileZilla and had never heard of Yummy.)
Meanwhile, I was trying to get SMB working from the Mac but was never successful. As I mentioned earlier, I've never had success with Samba on Linux. This time was no exception. In this particular case, the Mac would not accept the username and password. I had specifically done smbpasswd -a username and used the same password and username that I had been using for FTP activity.
However, when I got to the Mac SMB/CIFS screen it demanded 3 things: workgroup, NAME and password. BUT, the name of the Mac box automatically appeared in the NAME field on that screen. If I tried changing that to the username, there was no success at all. So, I went to the Samba box and added the name of the Mac box as a username.
It was at that point that the producer told me he installed Yummy and was successful in uploading the music. I doubt he will let me have any more time on the Mac box for testing. I guess it is just as well since I had previously told him FTP was the way to go and SMB/CIFS was not something he had ever heard.

Contrary to your opinion, I guess I feel that the most important things that happened in this exercise were, "the sounds about how it should be so easy but just wasn't working". I just hope folks from Apple, Microsoft and the Linux world stumble across these comments occasionally.
The bottom line is that the end user did not care how the job got done. The end user did not care what operating system nor what software technology was used. He just wanted the job done immediately. And, he had recalled a past experience where the Mac could not handle the job without a third-party FTP application.
Here's the future challenge for 3 programmers and 9 computers. Setup 3 rooms each with a PC, Linux, and a Mac box. Put a knowledgeable programmer from each of those separate worlds in each separate room. It's OK to have an Internet connection so they can get documentation. The task is to get scheduled uploads operational between all the boxes in each room without using 3rd-party software. I think a reasonable time would be far less than 10 minutes including verification tests between steps. so, perhaps the programmers' time is better spent on an FTP approach which might be more common setup and terminology among those three box types.
The winner gets his name on the resulting paper and website he creates to document how he made it so easy. The losers must come to his website each day for a year just to see his advertising.

Mountain Lion Server Web Server not working after time machine restore

Our Mountain Lion Server (mac mini) lost its drive yesterday. We got a new mac mini and did a time machine restore. Everything in the Server seems to be working (users, groups, file shares, etc) except for the web server.
Trying to connect to the server results in safari not being able to connect to the server. Even just clicking on the "view server website" link in the Server app doesn't work.
We've tried stopping / restarting the services. We have confirmed that the files in Library / Server with the web pages were restored.
Are there any gotchas, troubleshooting steps or guides anyone can point me to? I'd like to get our wiki back.

Action link URL calling from another screen from the same web server not work

I have an action link URL calling from another screen from the same web server, used the following syntax:

But it is not working, when open the page, it shows error message

Can I go back to the old look of the 'server not found' error messages?

After updating to Firefox 32, I noticed that the 'server not found' error messages now look differently. I don't like the new look, so I wonder if you know about an add-on that restores the old look. I've tried searching for it, but I don't know the proper name of these error messages, so I'm not sure what search phrase I should use.

Web server not responding

Hi All,
I have a JSP page (a.jsp) which has a while loop, inside the while loop i pusposely sleep it for 1 minute and the while loop while run for six times. Then i have another jsp page (b.jsp) which creates 20 frames and each frame opens to the a.jsp. Then i open three IE browsers and open to b.jsp. Everything is working fine until i open my fourth IE browser, the IE icon keep spinning and there is no respond from web server. At this point of time, the web server just simply refuses to service any http request. After 5 minutes (when a.jsp exits from the while loop), my fourth IE browser get respond back from web server and i think this is because the web server has completely service the requests from the first three IE browsers and all the connection were closed. Then the web server is back to normal.
I have try the a.jsp and b.jsp on SUN ONE web server 6.0 sp6 on Solaris 7 and SUN ONE web server 6.1 on IBM AIX. Both have the same problem.
I suspect this could be something to do with the number of threads a web instance or process can have.
Would appreciate if you anyone has solution for my problew.

in addition to, To simulate the problem, you need to set your window registry to allow IE to open up 20 connections (default is 2) per IE. Please follow the steps below :
1. run "regedit" to open up the registry
2. select HKEY_CURRENT_USER|Software|Microsoft|windows|CurrentVersion|Internet Settings
3. right click on the right hand panel and select New|DWORD Value
4. type "MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server" for the name
5. right click on the newly created "MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server" key and select "Modify"
6. enter 32 as hexadecimal value in the text box then click OK button to save
7. repeat step 3 to 6 with the name as "MaxConnectionsPerServer"
8. close all your IE browsers
if you do not do the above settings, you need to open up 30 browsers to simulate 60 connections to web server.
Once the a.jsp exit from the while loop, you should see the same number of requests in your iplanet access log. And, when you view source of a frame, you should see " count=1 count=2 count=3 count=4 count=5"; otherwise the request is not handled by web server.

Apache web server not start

Hi. I had to reload my server with 2008 server R2 for a maintenance. but now apache web server on my LMS 4.0 no start. I tried stop and restart daemon manager but nothing. apache is stoped.

On the command Prompt run this commad to check the Dependency of the Apache :

         Process      = Apache

         Flags        = -d C:\PROGRA~2\CSCOpx\MDC\Apache -D SSL
         Startup      = y
         Dependencies = Tomcat
Now Unregister the Apache with below commad :
pdreg -u Apache
To Registered the Apache:
Note :You need to check the Apache.exe location ,so anyone of the below will work for you :

Once above is done try to Restart the Apache and check how it works !!

Page looks great locally. online, not so much.

locally, the page below looks great - nice and centered and
everything. when i upload it and view it in safari, the main
content is way down and to the left (in safari) or centered but way
too deep (in firefox).
any ideas?

Apache Web Server not working correctly

Hello all,
I have enabled web sharing and put a file in my "sites" folder under my username.
I have instructed my friend to paste the link into his browser, he is using Leopard 10.5.5 as well, and it says that Safari can not find the server.
The box is checked for web sharing, I gave him the link with my username at the end and the one without it and it still isn't working. In fact, even when I use localhost it says that Safari can not find the server....
Is there anything else I need to do?

Apache web server not working...PLEASE HELP!!

I'm trying to get apache working on my Mac so I can host a website that will access a local MySQL database. I've researched this for a while. When I run the command:
#sudo /usr/sbin/apachectl -t
I get the following output:
httpd: Syntax error on line 75 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/libexec/apache2/mod_deflate.so into server: dlopen(/usr/libexec/apache2/mod_deflate.so, 10): Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libz.1.dylib\n Referenced from: /usr/libexec/apache2/mod_deflate.so\n Reason: no suitable image found. How do I fix this issue? I would really like to get this running without having to resort to a virtual Linux box or using XAMMP if possible. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Lion Server - Can access web server, not VPN.

Hello!
I have a 10.7 Server serving both VPN and a website. It has an external IP via NAT in the firewall, and I can access the website perfectly fine via the external IP, however I cannot connect to VPN externally. I have been able to connect within the LAN utilizing the local IP, but whenever I to utilize the external IP both within my network, and elsewhere (via iPhone on cell network) I get the message:
"The L2TP-VPN server did not respond. Try reconnecting. If the problem continues, verify your settings and contact your Administrator."
I'm not really sure what to do at this point. Help!

Did you make sure all of your ports for vpn are open? Make sure these ports are open UDP Port Number=4500 & UDP Port Number=500 test them with http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
