FileVault enabled accounts not shown on login screen

Hi everybody,
with some of our iMacs (all 14 of them are set up the same way) we have the following problem: When a new mobile network account is created (1st: create a network account on the OS X Server in its Open Directory database, then network user folder synced to local user folder on iMac) and this particular account is enabled to handle FileVault encryption of the local hard drive in „System Preferences“ -> „Security & Privacy“ -> „FileVault“ and even the output of
     sudo fdesetup list
lists this special account, the user is not shown at the very first login screen (light gray). I deleted the local user and re-synced, I removed the account from the list of FileVault users and re-enabled the account - all to no avail.
Now I disable FileVault completely and will re-enable it later. That lasts hours…
Is there any more convenient way to fix this? May the „sync“ command of fdesetup be an option?
Hope, someone knows the answer or may even give me a hint.
Best regards from Hamburg
Olaf

I've looked at my system logs, and the difference between logging in connected to a wired and wireless network.
I seem to have an issue with keys on the wireless network.

Since the key piece of information, well in English anyway, seems to be "User interaction not allowed." Any ideas how to resolve this?
I've opened Keychain Access, there does not appear to be anything bad about the entry for my wireless network. As a test, I changed "access control" to be unrestricted, but still no luck.
I then deleted the entry the entry in Keyword Access, and still see the same behavior.

  • Lion: user account not displayed on login screen

I´m using Lion and have 4 user accounts (my wife, me, one imported from my old mac, guest). After booting I get only 3 diplayed for login: Me, the old one and guest. I disabled the guest but it stills pop up for login.
I changed the view on the login screen to name and password and typed in the name and password of my wifes user account. I logged in, but in the user acount of the old mac...
Any ideas? Be very thankful for any help!

Log in with an admin account, delete the bad one, saving its data (stored in /Users/Deleted Users/ as a disk image, recreate the account, using the same username/password combo, log into the new one, mount the disk image, and transfer everything from it to the new account. • Can not get to Login Screen. Possible User Account or .plist Corruption?

I was helping a client who is upgrading both her desktop and a laptop machine. She had already started the process and she had used the migration tool to move her user account from her old G4 to both her new Mac Pro and MacBook pro. So basically both new machines were now clones of the old G4 which was running Tiger.
Everything was going well and we were busy doing some other stuff when I suggested to her that she should set up a secondary user account on each machine. This is something I suggest to users, because I have seen user accounts get corrupted, and if that account is the ONLY account on the machine, you are not going to be able to do anything on that machine (easily). At least with teh other account, you can log in and see the drive, etc.
So she set up a new user and also enabled fast user switching and I was about to show her how the whole user switching works, but when we choose to log out of her current account, the Mac went to blue screen and just got hung up. After much waiting we had to force a hard shut down. Upon restart we see the Apple logo and then go to the blue screen, but we never reach the login screen.
I wrote this off as a fluke, but also told her that I am not to comfortable with that and decided to completely wipe the drive and do a fresh install of everything and not use the migration assistant. All is well with that machine now.
So we moved on to the Mac Book Pro and we repeated the same addition of a user and upon logout it did the exact same thing. So by now I am sure that something in the library form the old G4 must be corrupt, because both of these machines were basically clones of that one. So we are probably going to do the same thing to this one too, but I was wondering if I could learn something from this.
Assuming that some .plist is corrupted, ( probably the com.apple.loginwindow.plist) I was thinking I could access the drive through target mode, find that. plist and delete it. But then that made me think, if I were to delete it, what would the Mac do at startup if it sees no .plist of the login screen or user accounts?
Also, is there a way to alter the login options through single user mode. So for example I am quite sure that it is the .plist for the log-in options that is corrupted. So if I could change the login option to automatically log into her account, thus bypassing the login screen, I think we can bypass this issue for now.
    Thanks.

First you don't delete the suspect .plist, you move or rename it. Deletion is down the road a piece
Second, when the system boots, it recreates any missing .plist files, presuming nothing else is wrong.
Many, including myself, have dragged the entire Preferences directory onto the desktop and rebooted without a problem.

  • How can I get an Active Direcotry account to show at login screen

I've just Binded a computer to our Active Directory network, and when I log off, I only see the local account listed at the login screen, and it takes 5-10 seconds before the arrow comes up that lets me choose Other.
I  want to be able to list the Active Directory account that the user should login with, is there a way to make it stick at the login screen?

You can add extra empty toolbars if you want to see more of the persona.
You can create extra toolbars to get extra space via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
You have to put something on a toolbar (drag a Space item onto it) before closing the Customize window because empty toolbars are automatically removed.

  • How can i completely remove a guest account? from the login screen too?

Having difficulty removing my guest account. I've gone to system preferences and unchecked the guest account but it still appears upon computer boot up as an option. I want it completely off and not showing on the screen when turned on.

On your login screen, that's not a true "Guest" account. It's actually a security feature..your Mac will restart to a secured Safari-only version of the OS with access to the Internet...this enables you to find your Mac using iCloud. Thus, this should NOT be disabled.

  • Install failed due to loss of power and Yosemite will now not go past login screen. Help!

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

  • Second user account not shown on OS X boot

I have created a second user account on my mac. Why is this account is not shown on initial log-in screen?
My user account (admin) and Guest account are shown, second user account (standard) is not shown.
How can I allow the second account to be shown?

Is there a way to remove the data from the old "student" account and then add it back in after creating a new "student" account?
    Might see if these help...
    Open the terminal and type:
    nireport / /users name uid | grep "5[0123456789][0123456789]"
This should report all users that are in the 500+ range for the user ID. User accounts generally start at 501, and work up, so look at the list returned, and pick the next available number to assign to the new user you are creating. You will use it in place of the uid 555 below.

  • My Aspire 7750G does not show the login screen after upgrade to Windows 10

I have upgraded to Windows 10 on my 7750G and the update went thru smooth. But when I restart Windows it shows the windows screen with the moving dotted circle, the harddisk led stays on for a while, then starts flickering, and a blank screen is shown! After waiting - about 2 to 3 minutes - it goes directly to the lock screen, no login screen is shown.

    joeboemoe,
The lock screen is where you login now, if I am not mistaken. The notebooks we have here boot to a lock screen we have to click to log in, even my PC at home does. If you want to take a look at this article we created, it might be what you are looking for.
I created a password for one of the logins on one of our notebooks and I had the option to choose Never under "If you've been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again?"

  • Enable "tap as click" at login screen

    hi all,
i've migrated all my stuff from my MB and now i can't use "tab as click" at the login screen.
i've tried to get rid of the login screen by deleting all accounts and then recreated the accounts again. but still, i can't get to use "tap as click" at login.
    your help is appreciated.

What you're seeing is normal - at the login window, OS X always uses the default input preferences. The account profile with your custom preferences only loads after login.
If you don't want the login screen to appear, go to System Preferences > Accounts > Login Options and enable "Automatically login as: (Username)".

    Thanks in advance

You have customised the skins/themes folder
    $OBI_HOME/web/app/res/*
Depending on what webserver you are using you will also need to customise the skins/themes for the web application that is already deployed.
These are where you can find them:
    OC4J: $OBI_HOME/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/applications/analytics/analytics/res/*
    WebLogic: $OBI_HOME/web/analytics/res/*
You will need to restart the presentation services to see the changes.
If you are manually deploying the application to the web server you will need to make your changes to the original app folder '$OBI_HOME/web/app/res/*' and then follow the below guide to create the web archive to deploy to the presentation server i.e. oc4j or WebLogic.

I don't think that what you did was wrong; there was an issue with the MBP and with all that open, the issue manifested itself.

  • MacBook Pro will not go past login screen/gray screen/gray Apple screen. Wheel keeps spinning.

I am pretty frustrated right now as anyone would be if this happened.
I was installing Anti-Virus onto my MacBook Pro and the installation finished but the computer froze. I force restarted the computer and it went all the way into my desktop, I could click on certain things but it was loading INCREDIBLY slow. The Anti-Virus opened and everything but the computer was just running much to slow and then froze again.
I hard reset the computer again because it was frozen. The first time I hard reset it went all the way to the login screen, I put my password in and the wheel would just spin. It just keeps spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning.
I hard reset the computer again. This time it gets to the Apple logo with the spinning under the logo. Just keeps spinning.
I hard reset the computer again. This time it gets past the spinning under the logo and isn't doing anything.
I hard reset the computer again. Get's all the way to the log in password screen, doesn't even let me put the password in just keeps spinning.
I continued to hard reset and get different screens each time.
I booted into safe mode. Did absolutely nothing for me but run incredibly slow and lag. I am not sure if that is normal or not, as I have never safe booted on a Mac. I reinstalled Mountain Lion after going into I think it was Recovery Mode (Command + R) and that did absolutely nothing for me after waiting over an hour. So now I am very frustrated as I need to do work for my class and this is just a major problem.
I even tried doing the Command + Option + P + R or whatever it was to reset those settings. Nothing is working.
Final projects and computers that don't want to work are not good.

Are you not able to install OS X, then? That is, the reinstall procedure does not work? If so, then you need to erase the drive then reinstall OS X.
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
