Fill and Stroke properties menu grayed out...why? :(

Just downloaded the Adobe Suite 5.5 trial...trying to change my brush size, but can't...made my head hurt. Anyone know what's going on?
Have tried a million keyword combinations to find a solution on google nothing so far...

Flash has 8 default brush sizes. You can change the brush size by selecting the brush size button in the tool panel while the brush tool is selected. The brush size button is located toward the bottom of the panel if your workspace is set to Essential.
As for the fill and stroke properties menu being grayed out, I am not sure what you mean. Can you please explain further or take a screenshot?

Here is an image capture of the properties.
The document is part of a job application that is suppose to be digitally signed and submitted soon. I have thought about printing, signing, and redigitizing to submit, however, the cells are statically sized and do not expand to include all of the information when printed.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You did not hit an incorrect button
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache (or clear Data in iOS 5). Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or ....
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or.....
Quit Safari - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

I don't know what operating system you are using, and I am not familiar with AMD video cards so I don't know the likely age and specs of your computer, but you need to make sure the driver is updated directly from the AMD site

I think I figured out how to fix it-
I found that if I only delete a small amount at the beginning and at the end of the section that I want to remove - and then highlight that section - Then (and only then) does the "Delete and Move" function work to remove the unwanted section and automatically close the gap between the surrounding sections. I was trying to select a whole section and could only delete it - and then manually move it.
Problem solved.

Expanding the appearance of live transform breaks up fill and stroke

Okay, so I never ever use Effect > Distort & Transform > Transform, but with all the hubbub about the stroke scaling bugs in Illustrator CC 2014, I've been fiddling with it lately, and I'm confounded by something: once you perform a "live" transformation of an object, how do you expand the transformation so it's not live anymore, while retaining the integrity of your object? When I use Object > Expand Appearance, it breaks the fill and stroke of the object into two objects. Am I doing it wrong, or is this a bug?
This can't be the normal behavior, since it is impossible to expand the appearance of an ordinary stroked/filled object (the menu item is grayed out).

I can't accept that; the two issues remain:
1) How do you expand/commit the transformation so it's not live anymore, while retaining the integrity of your object? If you can't, that's ridiculous.
2) If this was the normal behavior, then you ought to be able to separate the fill from the stroke on a newly-created shape with Expand Appearance as well, but you can't because it's grayed out.
Furthermore, common sense dictates that the user would rarely—if ever—want their shapes to be exploded like that. Seems more like an egregious oversight than "normal" behavior.

Problems with "no color" in the "Fill and Stroke"

I am having problems with “no color” in the “Fill and Stroke” function of Flash CS4 Pro.
I had been using CS4 for 10 days and everything worked fine. Then I tried experimenting with various color combinations (along with “no color”) for “Fill and Stroke” for a simple button. Suddenly CS4 locked up on me while I was working with the “color panel”. A second color panel appeared in the upper left corner and the program was not responding. All I could do was to end the CS4 task.
After that, whenever I created even a simple rectangle, at first the colors would appear as indicated for “Fill and Stroke”, but when I selected the object to see its properties, either the stroke or the fill color box would have a red slash line, indicating a “no color”, and I couldn’t select the color box to change it using the ink bottle tool, although the other box worked fine.
Rebooting did not help. So I uninstalled CS4 (and didn’t keep the preferences), rebooted, then reinstalled it. The problem was still there. Logging on as another user didn’t help. I tried restoring the Windows system to before I installed CS4 and resinstalling it and that didn’t work. I have a disfunctional CS4 now and I don’t know what to do to fix it. Please help me. Thank you.

Have you updated flash to 10.0.2? Have you played around with a bunch of different selections, objects, and so forth to see if this box is always incorrect? I think there's some particular selection (order of selecting things, and so on), where the color swatches in one location don't work as expected. However, it should not happen all the time and from what I recall it was fairly easy to work around (I can't even figure out what this was - so probably not it, as it seems hard to run into or perhaps now fixed).
Also make sure you have the stroke selected - if you don't have everything selected, either the fill or stroke will show no color and dim depending on the selection.

Is there no fill and stroke palette for Photoshop 13 (CS6)?

I'm getting a little tired of always having to switch tools to the Vector tool in order to change the colour (fill or stroke) of a vector shape that is currently selected in the Layers Palette. What am I missing? Don't force me to use the contextual control bar to change something so basic! This should be added to the Color Palette, the Properties palette, or its own Fill and stroke palette.
I'm sure I've missed something though.

Doubleclicking on the layer thumbnail of a shape layer will bring up the color picker and give you the option to adjust the fill, or gradient for the object.
You don't get the stroke options there though, you'll need to select the vector tools to get the stroke options.
If you doubleclick somewhere else on the layer in the panel (but not on the layer's name text) you'll get the effect options/layer style options.
Doubleclicking on:
Thumbnail gets you color picker
Layer itself gets you layer style/effects dialog
Layer text -- rename layer's name
Layer thumbnail of an adjustment layer will bring up properties panel
We know there is farther to go with the shape layer changes we've made, and the improvements are still in the works

Polygon Fill and Stroke Opacity

I have a polygon and want to set the color and opacity of it's fill and stroke independently something like this:
poly.Stroke = someRedColor;
poly.Stroke.Opacity = 1;
poly.Fill = someBlueColor;
poly.Fill.Opacity = .2
After running the 4th line I can see in the debugger that the Stroke's Opacity is still one, but when looking at it at runtime it has the same Opacity as the fill. Since I can set the color of each independently with no problem, why can't I set the
color's opacity of each independently?

Preserve Users and Network Settings is grayed out

Hi, I was having some issues with my Mac so I decided to perform an archive and install. I currently have Snow Leopard 10.6.4. I popped in the disk but when I got to choosing install options, "Preserve Users and Network Settings" is grayed out. I want to keep all my data as it was and just reinstall Snow Leopard. Does this option appear later on in the installation? Is there a way to go back? It's currently installing Snow Leopard. Please help

Your Home folder may be in the Previous System Folder. Check to see if it's there and intact. Otherwise it's been moved into the new system. You need to make a backup of your Home folder on an external drive.
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Complete the installation. In the Setup Assistant be sure to use a different username/shortname for the new admin account than you used before.
5. Upon completion use Migration Assistant in the Utilities folder to migrate your Home folder from the external backup drive.

PROBLEMS:
1. When clicking on the Finder icon in the dock, the main menu grays out and the window with documents, applications etc., does not pop up.
2. iMac is not showing up in iCloud.com and, not syncing with my MacBook Pro, iPad Mini and iPhone.
This situation seemed to appear after doing updates on my iMac.
TROUBLESHOOTING I'VE TRIED:
1. rebooted,
2. repaired permissions,
3. booted in safe-mode and let the basic tests run then rebooted to normal mode. Afterwards, the problem seemed to be corrected, however, it re-appeared shortly thereafter and still exists.

Go to the Finder's General preference pane and reset the New Finder windows show: option. Try changing it to some other folder, try it and then back again.
If that doesn't jump start it try moving the com.apple.finder.plist file from your Home/Library/Preferences folder to the Desktop, reboot and then reset the Finder preferences.
For Mavericks and Yosemite go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:

Yes, I did try to go on my settings>wifi and was waiting for any wifi signals to pick up, but nothing shows up. But on my PC I get a whole list of networks to choose from. Regarding my neighbor, I already have her password that is why I was able to get it on my PC, the problem is that the mini Ipad is not picking any signal neither can it locate me when I go to maps.

You may have to see about using the Recovery HD partition to attempt to erase and restore useful function of the capacity lost to the former Windows installation.
And you may have to backup your contents outside the computer to do it. Disk Utility on the Mac OS X historically has not been able to touch a BootCamp created partition; so if BootCamp cannot remove it, then you have to see how to do the equivalent of a reformat of the entire drive (less Recovery partition?) then reinstall your OS X. Maybe from internet recovery, then get your applications, etc from the Mac App store, etc.
A complete system clone of your OS X on an external HDD would be another method to restore after reformat, of the portion you want whole again, not necessarily the space where Recovery may live.
There may be (an)other way(s).
Perhaps someone with recent experience
in this matter can reply & discuss options.
With my antiques, they almost know what I want before I tell them.
Hopefully yours will after you talk to it awhile.
