Fill Dialog Box

Okay, I work in channels a lot. In CS5 if you make a new doc, then make a new channel and load an item and hit delete it brings up the Fill Dialog Box. In the older versions it would just fill with the background color. Is there any way to get it to go back to that? I found a way around it, if I make a new layer before trying to Fill then it goes back to the old way, filling with the background color without asking me first. It's not that big a deal, just an inconvenience. I work with a lot of my coworkers art and they have an older versions of Photoshop, so none of theirs has the layer made, they are usually flattened, so I have to remember to make a blank layer before starting. It's just annoying if I'm making a large change and have several channels selected and have forgotten to do it. Also they are all upgrading so it's going to become an issue for everyone, since we have thousands of art files that were probably saved with flattened layers. I'm in the screen printing business and we make all the channels for the separate color output, that is why I use channels so much. Just in case you were wondering. Thanks.

You could asign »Clear« one of the function keys in Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts, I guess.
As for streamlining your cursor-distances: Have you installed Configurator yet?
I have found that very convenient for avoiding a lot of click-move-stuff if one has sufficient screen real estate.

Photoshop "Fill" Dialog Box is missing "Scripted Pattern" option..

Photoshop "Fill" Dialog Box (using the most current Creative Cloud) is missing "Scripted Pattern" option which is supposed to be at the very bottom. Instead, in the middle of the box I have the option to check the word "Script" which brings up only six fill patterns (such as Brick, Sprial, etc). In the tutorials I see that by using Scripted Patterns (the tree option for one) brings up many, many choices.

Big changes made in Fill between CC and CC 2014. CC Fill dialog on top CC2014 Fill dialog bottom. Picture Frame and Tree moved from Fill to Render Filter and new Flame pattern added into render filter grouped with Picture Frame and Tree.

Photoshop opens dialog box when trying to fill a layer with transparent pixels locked

This script should set the layer to lock transparent pixels, and then fill the layer with a color. It does that, except when it gets to the fill stage, it opens the fill dialog box, and you have to hit okay.
If you omit the transparent pixel line, it runs as expected, no dialog box.
Is there a way to suppress the box? Or am I doing something wrong that's causing the box to open?

Not sure why that happens.
But I would recommend foregoing the locking and using the AM code for a Fill that honours the transparency.

Pausing at dialog boxes

Just doing a simple tutorial on Content Aware Fill, a couple of things came to mind
One step was recorded as "Choose Edit > Fill to Fill the current" - the second "Fill" should be lower case.
More importantly, I would normally want to accompany an instruction to "Select Content Aware from the drop-down menu for Fill Contents" with a screenshot of the Edit>Fill dialog box. I don't think that can be done now, but could it be added to the recording process?

Why is the 'Choose icon...' button in the Options tab of the field property dialog box not enabled?

I am using Adobe Acrobat Professional XI running on Windows 8.
This “feature” has been bugging me for some time now. I remember it happening when I used Acrobat 9 Professional (Windows XP) and it is still happening in Acrobat XI Professional. I think I figured out a situation when I can reproduce this “feature” conistently and I hope someone fixes this.
Try the following and see what happens:
1. Acrobat Professional is not open.
2. Launch Word and start editing a document (or some other authoring tool that can generete PDF document).
3. After editing the document, generate a PDF version of the document.
4. Launch Acrobat Professional and edit the PDF document generated in 3.
5. Add a button.
6. View the button's properties.
7. Change the Fill Color property in the Appearance tab to none.
8. Change the Layout in the Options tab to Icon only.
Now here is what bugs be. Shouldn’t the 'Choose Icon ...' button be enabled? It is not enabled after step 8. It is possible that 'Choose Icon ...' button is enabled for some of you. I this case, it would be nice if at least one of you who experience the same bug say so in this thread so that Adobe doesn't think I am sending them on a wild goose chase.
I can enable it by selecting a different tab and then returning to the Options tab. A similar thing happens when reverting back from 'Icon only' to 'Label only' but I am not sure how to reconstruct a scenario for this one.
Here is the dialog box for one instance when I noticed the bug.

You're right, it has been that way for a long time. I've never bothered reporting it as a bug since it's simple enough to deal with, but reporting it would be a reasonable thing to do.

F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST -Restrictions dialog box

I am using the function module F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST in screens, to implement a search help in my program , but instead of directly displaying the hit list , i want the restrictions screen to be displayed first with some default values, and the list should be displayed only based on the valuies entered in thius restrictions screen. How can i do this using this function module.
To be more precise,
i need the restrictions dialog box to be displayed and this will have 6 fields. i have to pass values to 2 fields from my program, the first field need not be filled and teh remaining fields should be left for the user to enter.
how do i achieve this?

Save Open dialog box opening very slow

I have windows 7 professional 64bit OS. whenever i try to open/save as dialog box it appears very slow, then it will say it is not responding then after 10-15sec it will come alive.
Need help!!!!!!

I followed your suggestions above....reset IE ...clean boot. Didn't solve the problem. (had trouble making that MSCONFIG window bigger !? <wink>)
Problem still exists. And to be clear, here is the problem(s) ...I believe they are all interrelated.
#1. I end the explorer.exe process and restart it. Run Explorer and start clicking folders in my FAVORITES. System hangs for about 10 seconds before it catches up.
Alternatly, after a explorer.exe restart, if I run explorer and start clicking down through folders from the C: drive, there is no hang.   SUSPECT - some sort of file for favorites needs to be rebuilt?!
#2. Open MS Word. Type a few letters. Select File/Save. Most icons under Favorites are white. Trying clicking more than one, but system hangs for ten seconds until icons fill in.
#3. WINDOWS button, start typing in the search INTERNET....5-10 seconds before Internet Explorer (and other INT* things show up.! Usually this is instantaneous.

- Tried reboot with Windows Search service disabled....no help. Turned back on.
- Tried MS Essentials off. Tried Firewall off
- Rebuilt ICONCACHE - was 8mb, now less 450kb
- Archived OUTLOOK down to a reasonable size (and had to do the manual compress to reduce the file size after)
- turned off some Windows visual effects.
- Turned off Dropbox from autostarting....this was before I tried the Clean Boot
- turned by ON (default) in Startup - though it has Unknown MFG and no details :~(   , i found that it likely is needed for my 64 bit machine.
Any help would be appreciated.

File Dialog Box often takes a long time to execute

Hi all
The Labview File Dialog Box Express VI sometimes takes 5 to 10 seconds to execute. On other occasions, it executes in a blink of an eye. Why is that so?
I have tried to use the older Open/Create/Replace File VI as suggested in one of the forum's posts...but it behaves exactly the same way. Another problem is the trimming of the filename, which has also been reported and has NOT YET been solved.
(By the way...Recently, I updated to LV 2012 SP2 by suggestion of the NI Update Manager, only to find out that I was not entitled to this SP (which apparently only includes bug fixes) and I will have to roll back to LV 2012. Still, in the evaluation version I can see that the bug is not fixed. Labview must have a lot of serious bugs for NI to ask for a paid bug fix, in which some bugs remain after having been reported a long time ago..well...)
What worries me now is that intermittent lag in the execution of the File Dialog (such a basic basic function of a program...). Anyone have any idea about this? The support menu said "Ask an engineer"...any of the NI engineers has any suggestion?

The file dialog is provided by the OS, so if it is slow it is not LabVIEW's fault.
What kind of computer do you have? Is this a laptop that spins down the HD to save power? In this case it needs to wait for the HD to spin up. (You can change the windows power profile or you can spend more money and get an SSD).
Are you very low on memory?
Does your LabVIEW program waste 100% CPU in parallel doing nothing due to bad coding?
Are you pointing to a location that has millions of files?
Are you pointing to a network location?

I understand that the File Dialog is provided by the OS. But I have other applications on my PC and this doesn't happen - just in Labview. Sorry! And sometimes it
doesn't happen. Every 10 times I open the File dialog Box, 5 times it takes long and 5 times it is immediate.
(I am not low on memory, my coding is not bad>-look at the VI I sent, it just contains the fragment which uses the File Dialog Box and it behaves the same way! I am pointing to the same location that the other applications point to, I am not pointing to a network location, the PC is not spinning the disk down, etc etc.)
But yes, I will try it on another PC
(There was another post on the forum on this issue, but can't seem to find it now, just find my own post )

What problem is that? Can you elaborate? There is a known bug in the windows dialog box that sometimes the pre-filled file names are shifted and not fully visible. This is a windows bug documented by Microsoft and LabVIEW has no control over it. It is not NIs job to fix OS problems.

A previous post on your forum did not provide me with that information (http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/File-dialog-trimming-the-default-name/td-p/2189874). The fact that it is a windows bug was not mentioned there.

Patches are included, service packs are not included. I think this is well documented. Most users are on SSP, this way you are always entitled to the newest version.
As with anything else, software has bugs. It is impossible to test a huge, complex system like LabVIEW under all scenarios. The possible number of combinations of hardware and other installed software on any particular computer probably exceeds the number of atoms in the universe. It is actually amazing how few bugs there are and how well it works. What "bug" are you talking about? Bugs are prioritized according to rules. Critical bugs are typically fixed very quickly. A cosmetic issue that only affects you and nobody else will take longer or might not even get fixed. Are you talking about a confirmed bug that could be reproduced by NI? Do you have a CAR#?

That sentence makes no sense! Why would the number of serious bugs depend on the cost of upgrading?? You are just rambling here....
In an ideal world, NI would have an unlimited number of programmers that can work 24/7 to immediately fix any discovered bug. This would only be possible if all users are willing to pay an unlimited amount of money for the software. As I mentioned, bug fixes are free in the form of patches, and they come out regularly. Service packs include new features and are not free.

Moreover: If it isn't free, it shouldn' have let me update if I am not a SSP costumer.
Now I have a 45 days evaluation version. After that, I have to uninstall and reinstall everything.That takes some time and effort.

How can I keep Firefox from keeping my login name and password from being in the dialog boxes when I sign on on gmail? It allows anyone to log into my email account

When signing on to my gmail account the two dialog boxes, one for account name and the other for the password are already filled in. The password box has dots for the password but anyone who clicks on the sign in box can read my mail. How do I change this? It appears to be a Firefox related issue because it doesn't happen if I sign in on Safari or Internet Explorer. I would appreciate your help.

"Save As" dialog box is too large

Recently, while using Acrobat 9, the "Save As" dialog box began opening as a full-screen box. Is there a way to change it back to a small dialog box?

I experience the identical problem with Acrobat Professional ver 8.3.0 on Windows 7 32-bit. The same thing can also happen with the "File > Open" dialog box.
In both cases, there is a simple solution: Right Mouse Button in the window's top border to bring up a context menu. Select "Restore". The window immediately resizes smaller and can be further resized in the usual way by hovering the mouse over a corner. To fill the screen again with these dialog boxes, select "Maximize" in the RMB context menu.

Blank page shown instead of Open/Save As dialog box-CSV file download in IE

I am migrating an application hosted earlier on Oracle 9iAS (9.0.3.1 BP1) to OracleAS 10g (10.1.3) with Struts 1.2.9. While the below JSP code worked for the earlier s/w stack when accessed using IE 5.5 SP2 or above, a blank page is displayed with the new s/w stack. What I mean by "worked earlier" is this. A "Open/Save As" dialog box would appear. Trying to "Open" would open a new IE window launching MS Excel and displaying correct data. Trying to "Save As" would display correct filename and extension in the dialog box.

I tried some changes listed below:
1. Deliberately introduced compilation errors in the JSP code.
2. Changed contentType="application/x-filler" to various MIME types like application/x-download, application/vnd.ms-excel, removing it altogether.
3. Commented out response.setHeader("Content-Type","application/octet-stream") and also tried other MIME types related to CSV/Excel.
4. Changed Content-Disposition from inline to attachment.
Each of the above resulted in an unacceptable behaviour compared with the earlier state:
1. Blank page shown as if nothing was happening even in case of deliberate incorrect JSP syntax.
2. Dialog box did show up with some combinations. But on trying to "Open" or "Save As", the dialog box shows up a second time. Then while trying to "Open", the contents get opened either inline or in MS Excel but with some additional garbage data like source file name.jsp etc. While trying to "Save As" the file name and extension take on the pattern <URL_Pattern>.htm where URL_Pattern would be "DOWNLOAD_ACTION.do".
Some other information:
1. This code works when accessed from desktop local container (Win 2000) but not when deployed on Unix env (HP-UX B.11.11.0109).
2. Latest patchsets are installed for IE.
3. The existing application is designed to work for ONLY IE 5.5 SP2 or above, so I haven't tried with other browsers. I have tried both IE 5.5 SP2 and 6.0 SP1.
Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

I have made it to work with the below changes:
1. Changed the URL pattern for <filter-mapping> for *.jsp to /*.jsp
2. Added <dispatcher>REQUEST</dispatcher> and <dispatcher>FORWARD</dispatcher>
3. Everything else (code-wise) is as before.
Because of these changes, the filter, wherein some headers are being added to the response, is being invoked appropriately now.

How to suppress the Print Dialog Box?

Running an (ASP.NET /Crystal Reports 2008) application and using CrystalReportViewer control. Is there way to suppress the print dialog box when I click the print icon on the report tool bar?

Hello,
Sort of, CR needs the info. Only option is to create your own print button that has all the info filled in. It's a Windows Framework Common dialog box that CR calls so it's the OS that is prompting for the info.
Using ReportClientDoc here's a possible solution, note that this too has a dialog box to select the printer:

Custom file open dialog box

Dear Friends!
I need a custom file open/select dialog box (i.e a LabVIEW VI) that I can customize to mimic the looks of my project color scheme etc. Does one exist somewhere? If someone has already made one could you kindly share it with me? I'll be so much grateful to you.The one below is the one that windows provide, I need it in the VI form (so that I can customize it, change its colors etc) and use this in my application.

How to I get rid of the autofill alternative (another state, road, etc.) dialog boxes?

I only have one home. I would like Autofill to fill out forms as I have my information set. I do not want dialog boxes constantly popping up while Autofill is filling out a form, asking me to pick a possible alternative state or road. I have one address and I would like that one entered on my forms.

How to handle the button "cancel" in a dialog box for displaying views?

I ve a question about handling the cancel button in a dialog box for displaying views.
I ve already implemented the dialog box by using the following code:

My dialog box consists two buttons - cancel and create.
The cancel buttons should close the popup and the create button should create an entity of a specified object. but let us come to the cancel button. I did´nt find any information about implementing an cancel button. So, how should I implement it? I thougt
me->close( ). But that didnt works!
Could u give me further information about that, because my cancel event-handler is empty?

After that I would know how my calling view could know that the user pushes the Create Button and how the data of 2 inputfields of the dialog box finds their way to the calling view in order to process this data there?

thank you for your advice! This problem is solved...
...but I have another issue. Ive implemented 2 editable fields in my popup. The user should fill that fields with context and that context should be processed in the calling view of my popup.
My question is how to transfer these information from my popup to my calling view or method?
I tried the following...
      lv_context_node ?= m_popup->get_context_node( 'QUICKACT' ).
      IF lv_context_node IS NOT INITIAL.
        lv_text = lv_context_node->get_date( attribute_path = '' ).
      ENDIF.
But it doesnt work! The context node object is always empty/initial.

PS: Another possibility could be that the object / node of the calling view is transferred to the pop-up in order to process it there.
