Fillable Fields in Form

After I have created my form and added all my interactive fields, I generate my pdf to test filling out my form. At times, when I hit the tab to go to the next field, (as defined) it jumps to another field instead of the "next".  I realize that this happens because of the order in which I created the fields.  Now, is there a way to fix this without restarting my 20 page - over 60 fields so when I hit tab it goes to the next field?
Thanks!

Did you say you had a 20 page form? I don't think I've ever seen such a thing.
Maybe there's a limitation I'm not aware of. Try one of the other two methods suggested above.

What are the security settings to lock down a form with fillable fields and yet allow someone with Reader to fill in the fields as will as save the form and print it?

You want to allow someone to open your document and fill out the form (in the fields you have created), but not change or edit the form, right? Here's the answer - assuming you are using Acrobat Pro and someone will be opening the PDF using at least Acrobat Reader 9 and up:
Tools > Protection > Encrypt < Encrypt with Password
Answer YES to change the security.
    A new window opens:
Do NOT select Document Open (or that will require a password to open the document.)
Select: Permissions (Check the box next to "Restrict editing and printing of the document.")
Change the following 2 settings from the drop-down box:
              Printing Allowed: Select High Resolution
Changes Allowed: Select Commenting, filling in form fields, and signing signature fields
Leave selected: "Enable text access for screen reader devices for the visually impaired"
Change Permissions Password (insert a strong password)
Leave all other settings alone in "Options"
              OK - OK
Re-enter the Permissions Password (the one you entered above)
              OK - OK
Save the PDF to apply the security [notice that (SECURED0 will appear after the document title]

  • I am unable to copy fillable fields from a pdf form into Microsoft Word or notepad....Help! thank you!

I am unable to copy fillable fields from a pdf form I created in Adobe X Pro into a Microsoft Word or Notepad document. Please help! Thank you!!

I have created a fillable form. Part of the information from that form needs to be copied and sent to another department at work. Once i complete the fillable form (e.g. select options from a drop down, enter test in test boxes that are on the form) when i copy that section, i only get the non-fillable information pasted into word or notepad, the drop down selections and fillable text do not copy.

  • Can Word 2010 populate fillable fields in a pdf fillable form?

Is it possible to define fillable fields in a word 2010 document (name, address, city, state, zip, date) so that after a save to pdf and [Page] add existing file, an existing pdf fillable form will auto-populate same named fields in the added pdf fillable form?

Thanks, George!  In the form I am creating, I ask respondents to identify a number of organizations that they work with.  For example, I ask "Please list up to ten organizations" and then I provide ten text boxes for organizations 1-10.  I then ask a series of follow up questions (radio buttons, check boxes, and rating scales) about each organization.  I would like to auto-populate the fields of those follow up questions with the names of the organizations that the respondents had written.  Does that make sense?  Will this require JavaScript?  My hope is to avoid complicated scripts that may give respondents technical problems with the form.  Thanks again,
    Andy

  • Form with fillable fields on iPad

I have a form created in Adobe Acrobat pro with fillable fields. When I save it to my iPad, the fields are no longer fillable. How can I make the fields fillable on the iPad? Thanks!

    Hi Nick,
You can use Adobe Fill & Sign DC for the purpose.
Adobe Fill & Sign DC is a free mobile app that can be used all by itself, or with Acrobat DC. While Acrobat lets you work with fillable PDF forms and draw a signature with your finger, Fill & Sign gives you an easy way to work with paper forms or PDFs that haven’t been optimized for form filling. With Fill & Sign on an iPad or Android tablet device, you can:
Open a PDF file, take a photo, or pick an image from your mobile device
Type answers right onto the form, or accept auto-fill suggestions
Sign your form by typing or drawing your signature, or using an image
Edit your personal auto-fill collection so you don’t have to retype frequently-used information each time you complete a new form.
If you want to edit the pdf form then you need to purchase the subscription to Adobe Acrobat DC.
For more information please refer the FAQ: FAQ | Acrobat DC mobile app
Adobe FormsCentral has reached end of life and is no longer supported.
Installation of Acrobat DC on the PC removes the older version of Acrobat and FormsCentral.

  • How can I add a character to the end of any text that is entered into a fillable field?

I am creating a fillable PDF in the form of a business letter.  To start the letter, the form has Dear [fillable field for name].  I need a script that will enter a colon after the person inputs their name.  I have an Acrobat JavaScript scripting reference guide, but do not know where to start.
    Thanks in advance.

Use this script as the field's custom format code:
    if (event.value) event.value+=":";

  • How to change the font and size in the fillable field of an encrypted PDF file?

    hi!
I’d like to change the font and size in the fillable field of an encrypted PDF file I-485 from www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-485.pdf
I’m using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 in Windows XP. I firstly tried Adobe LiveCycle Designer, but the I-485 file requires password to be opened, which I don’t know.
Then I tried to print it to a PDF file, and use the Typewriter tool to fill in the form. But got error message while printing it to PDF file:
This PostScript file was created from an encrypted PDF file.
Redistilling encrypted PDF is not permitted.
The I-485 file can be exported to unencrypted postscript file, but got the same error message while trying to open the ps file.
I don’t know much about pdf file, can anyone please help?
    Thanks a lot!

Ask the creator of the file for a unprotected version.

  • Why is the content of a fillable field missing?

I enter data in the fillable fields and save the document as a pdf file. I sent it to someone who opens it using an iPhone or iPad and the content of the fields is not visible.

    Hi,
Did you send your form as an email attachment?
It is highly likely that the email recipient opened your PDF form in Apple Mail on an iPhone or iPad.
Please note that Apple Mail's preview does not show filled form data or annotations (Sticky Notes, Highlight, Freehand drawing, etc.) in a PDF document.  It's the known limitation in Apple Mail, iBooks, and Safari.
You can ask the email recipient to install Adobe Reader for iOS and use the "Open In" feature to open it in Adobe Reader.
Please take a look at the Mail section of the FAQ documents for the instructions on how to use "Open In".

  • How to print out fillable fields only

I'm a newb, help! I am trying to create a form in LiveCycle.
I have brought in a pdf, made some fillable fields. So far so good, here's where I'm struggling.
I want the recipient of the pdf to fill out the forms, (while still seeing the pdf in the background), BUT when they print, I want them to ONLY print out the information that they filled in the fillable fields.
So basically, they receive a document in Adobe Reader, it has a pdf in the background, and they fill in some fields, then they place a page in their printer to just print the fillable fields only.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

"You can control the visibility of objects using the presence property"
Here is where I get confused. I understand that you can change the visibilty in this area, but I want the pdf background that is part of my form to be the area that doesn't print, so I can't understand how I highlight that particular area to switch it to "screen only" because it isn't really considering a text field or anything like that, it was just a pdf that I imported from the start and then built all my text fields on top of.

  • Adding a logo to a fillable field

Is there a way to add a logo to a fillable field  (i.e. jpeg, bitmap , tiff, etc.) ?  For example, if one of our users wants to put their individual company's logo on the top one of our standard agency forms to personalize it for their use. Thanks for the help!!
    Ken K. - 2191

    Hi, Ken:
I am not sure which version of Acrobat you are using, so I am going to respond based on Acrobat 9 Pro.  I am not sure whether this applies to other versions or not.
Also, I am not sure if I am going to be answering your question or not, but I have two responses:
    1)  If you are simply trying to insert an image, whether in a form or non-form PDF, but simply display the Touch-up Object tool.  (No need to be in Forms editing mode)  When you point to the area you wish to insert the image, right-click and select Place Image.  Locate your image and it will insert the image into the PDF.  You will likely need to resize, but there it is.
    2)  If you want an interactive button with a logo, while in Forms editing mode, click the Button icon (in Add/Edit Fields, the "OK" icon in the list of field codes).  Name the field, and go to the Options tab.
    a)   Select Layout and choose any one of those options with "Icon" as part of the choice.  If you want the image only, choose Icon Only.
    b)   Click Choose Image. Click Browse to locate the image.  Note: You may need to change the File Type from PDF to JPG or whatever the image extension is.
    c)  By default, Invert is the Behavior default.  Invert usually works just fine.  Of course, choose whichever works best for you.
    d)  If you wish to associate any Actions to the button, click the Actions tab and make your choices.
    e)  Also, if the image you've selected does not cover the entire button and you don't want the default Fill color, click the Appearance tab and change the Fill Color to No Color (or whatever color you want).  Click OK, when done.
    f)  If you do not want anyone to be able to click on the button (because you just want it to be a logo), make sure you go onto the General tab and choose Read Only (located at the bottom right of that dialog box).
    g)  Resize the button to whatever size you prefer.
    Voila!  You're done!
I hope I've answered your question.  If not, perhaps you could clarify what you are seeking a bit more.

  • Acrobat 9 - "Title" for fillable field

I'm new to creating forms with Acrobat, so I'm afraid I don't know the lingo. I apologize in advance.
Is there a way to give a "title" to a fillable field that is only visable until the user selects the field?
For example, if I want to create a section like this:
    TO:  Name
    Company
    Street Address
    City, State, Zip
    Phone Number
And when you click on "Name" it disappears and I can type my name there, etc.
Instead of having to do this:
    TO:  Name: Kat
    Company: ABC Co.
    Street Address: 123 Main St.
    City: Timbuktu
    State: HI
    Zip: 12345
    Does that make sense?

Yes, you can set the tab order. In Acrobat 9 first go into form editing mode by selecting: Forms > Add or Edit Fields
You'll then see the list of fields on the left of the window. You arrange them by clicking and dragging on the field name. Unfortuately, you can only select one field at a time and the order can be automatically rearranged as you edit and move fields, so it can be rather tedious if you have a lot of fields.
Acrobat 11 allows you to select multiple fields at once when changing the tab order as well as provide a means to prevent this automatic reordering.

  • Fillable fields turn black

I am using LiveCycle Designer ES3 to design fillable forms.  Specifically, I imported a static *.pdf into LiveCycle Designer and added all my fields and properties the way I'm supposed to.  Everything goes great while I'm in the design view and preview PDF looks great.  But when I reader extend my form, some of the fillable fields turn black.  What is the problem and how do I fix it?

The iPad screen turns black when it is powered off or it goes to sleep.

  • Fillable fields shaded blue

I can remove the shading on fillable fields, save the change, but when other users open the file, the field is still blue. I don't want the fields shaded blue when the users opens the file. How can I resolve this issue? I'm using Adobe Reader X, and Adobe Pro X, Edit>Prefences>Forms>Highlight Color toggles the color on or off. The change affects my forms but not the user's view of the same form.

In your top most subform you can add this JavaScript to the docReady event:
    app.runtimeHighlight=false;

  • Fillable fields "only if"

Hi, I create fillable fields on a form in which existing values are to be completed only when a checkbox is checked.
    My problem is this:
    Page1
    [name] (manually compiled)
    [Last name] (manually compiled)
    [Address] (manually compiled)
    [etc...] (manually compiled)
    [etc...] (manually compiled)
    Page2
[x] [name] (self-compiled from the previous field)
[Last name] (self-compiled from the previous field)
[Address] (self-compiled from the previous field)
[etc...] (self-compiled from the previous field)
[etc...] (self-compiled from the previous field)
[  ] [name] (field empty because no check mark)
[Last name] (field empty because no check mark)
[Address] (field empty because no check mark)
[etc...] (field empty because no check mark)
[etc...] (field empty because no check mark)
Obviously if you check the second checkbox will empty the field name, last name, address, etc... on it when it should self-compiled one below.
I do not know if you understand well with my Italian and translated the problem I have, you can do something like this in adobe professional?

    Ok!
    Thank you! It works great!
I just forgot to specify that the choices are more than two, more likely 3 as the image below.
The text is in Italian but maybe the concept is understandable: if I check the box "A) Nuovo cliente" must be filled in the related fields taken from another spreadsheet above; if you check the box "B) Cliente titolare di..." must be empty fields of A) and compiled those of B) and so on ... Idem for the "C) Cliente occasionale".

Adding form fields to PDFs in Acrobat manually is labor-intensive. Using FrameMaker-to-Acrobat TimeSavers & Form Assistant, you can take advantage of all of FrameMaker capabilities to author documents that, upon conversion to PDF, will automatically contain text fields, check boxes, radio buttons and additional controls.
With Form Assistant 3, markers can be inserted through a dialog box (FM10/11, as Extendscript is required).
This will also be demonstrated in the webinar.
