Fillable forms question - FrameMaker to PDF - Without losing copy protection options

Hello,
I'm looking for a solution that will allow us to integrate fields in a Chapter Review-style question area where users can comment their answers (instead of using StickyNotes). It must disallow printing/copying etc to meet content protection requirements. I've dug through all of my options and can't seem to find any viable method without allowing the "Edit Content" option which allows users to copy the content.
We're currently using FrameMaker 9 but will be jumping to TCS5 soon.
As an example, we would want something like the following question, which exists in a FrameMaker document, to be commented on:
2. Which DID/DNIS mapping is recommended for mapping a single extension?
Thank you in advance for any assistance with this.

> It must disallow printing/copying etc to meet content protection requirements.
ebook format copy protection is largely an illusion. Leaving aside the availability of euphemistically named "password recovery" software, the widespread availability of low-cost (often bundled free) OCR software means: If you can see it, you can recover the text, unless it's heavily CAPTCHA'd.
Even if the user is blocked from reading the computer's frame buffer (i.e., prevented from using the PrintScreen key on Windows), most cell phones now have cameras with more than sufficient resolution for full text recovery. Some users even know how to turn off the flash .
If the supposedly eyes-only document is available on the web, I would not be the least bit surprised to learn that one or more search engines has already OCR'd and indexed every word in it (you can be sure that the NSA's has).
Managers asking for copy protection need to realize that they are making the authoring task much harder for little benefit, and often creating pointless annoyance for end users. Copy protection might briefly deter casual copiers, but is no obstacle at all to anyone the least bit tech savvy.
If copy prevention really matters, each copy of the document needs to be computer-generated for the specific licensed end user, with user-customized, easily traced content.
All that aside, and assuming management can't be dissuaded on the copy protection issue, does TimeSavers support insertion of form fields while preserving security settings?

  • Please Help me! Adobe Acrobat PDF fillable form questions!Desperate!!

    Hello!
Hopefully can quickly answer these questions because I need to get this out by tomorow night :/ I am new to creating Adobe Acrobat Fillable forms, my yearbook adviser wanted to make the yearbook/journalism application a pdf fillable form so I went with the flow. Now I am having issues. I created it with Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.0 if that helps
    1. How do I get individual checks? they all check on the same answers, I need individuality lol. I know radio buttons is jus one chance so thats why I decided against them
    2. How does one do a submit button exactly?
    3. Somehow, I got to the step to distribute the forms but it says error licensing issue? Any ideas?
Iplease give all an any thoughts on my questions you have no idea how much I appreciate any help!

If using check boxes, you need to give each a different field name if you want them to behave independent of one another. You can create a group where at most on in the group can be selected, similar to a radio button group, by giving each the same field name but different export value.
For #2, it depends on the details of what you want to do. A PDF form can be set up to submit to a web server or to initiate an email with the form data for the entire form attached to the email. If you want Reader users to be able to save the filled-in form and/or submit the entire filled-in PDF, the form has to be Reader-enabled in Acrobat.
For #3, please provide the exact error message.

  • How can I force Firefox to properly format all html pages to a pdf without losing top and right hand margins?

Setting up page printout format for pdf on a Mac OS/X Snow Leopard Mac Pro. Printer is HP 8500A OfficeJet Pro Plus bought after July 14, 2011 serial number- CN141CK7QM
When I print to file as a pdf I am getting the first page correctly but subsequent pages are getting clipped along the top and the right margins.
I don't have this problem with my IBook 4.0
The issue is formatting an html page to a pdf when the print request is asking for a pdf or when the print request is to the printer.
The url to my HP Office jet Pro 8500A Plus is:
    mdns://Officejet%20Pro%208500%20A910%20%5B530E4F%5D._pdl-datastream._tcp.local./?bidi
I have a IBook G4 and I do not have any of this problem.
I have specified a default paper size of "USLetter".
This printing issue is a new one that occurred since I started the Firefox updates after Firefox 6.0 series.
I am checking with HP on this issue. Prior to the HP8500A (installed in July 2011) I did have a HP6180 Officejet for several years without encountering such a conflict.
So my second question is; Are there Firefox printing conflicts with the HP 8500A printers?

    Joanna,
It seems that Illy (still) moves in (ever new) mysterious ways.
I was surprised to see that you got away with your French word, but the hat part must have hidden the first part from the nanny filter. The first part by itself would have become asterisks.

  • Fillable form added to existing pdf??? how???

I just signed up the trial adobe form central - not sure if that's what i need - i have a do already - i just want to make the blank - fillable? can i use this to do that and if yes, how do i upload the existing form?
    Thanks, Mandy

You cannot import and existing PDF form into FormsCentral. You have to create the form from scratch or template within the FormsCentral application.

  • Inserting Fillable forms into PDFs converted from word

I need some help with inserting a fillable form I created in Live Cycle.  When I go to insert the form into a file that was originally created in word and saved as a PDF,I receive a message (see below)
I need to be able to find a way to insert the fillable form to the end of a regular PDF, without losing the capabilities of the form, including a submit by email button, which I tried both as the Email submit button and the regular button, formatted to submit a email in response.
I don't know if there is some settings or preferences that I can change to be able to insert the form, but I need it to be one document.I know that this is not impossible, as I have seen other documents in this formatting, I just cant seem to be able to get it.

  • ONLINE FORM - CANNOT DOWNLOAD TO PDF

Hello - I created a form today in the online form creation site, I wanted to download it to a stand alone pdf but it requires that I have a subscription however, since they are cancelling the service in July, they are not selling subscriptions to the service so my form is essentially stuck in there - I've tried converting it via the option within internet explorer and it comes out black.  Does anyone have any sort of way to help me get this form out in pdf form?

I have the same issue.  I created a form in Forms Central via Acrobat X Pro but unable to export it to .pdf without upgrading.  The Forms Central site will not allow for upgrades any longer.  I exported the design file but that won't open in Acrobat X Pro.  Can someone help me get this form into .pdf without losing what took me so long to create?

  • Can a change be made to the original Word document without losing form fields in a saved PDF form?

I have a new fillable form created with Acrobat 9 that has 10 pages of fields on it. I noticed a typo in the original Word doc I created the form from and wondered if there is anyway to make changes in the source document without having to recreate all fields again.
    Thanks!
    Frank

Yes, just create a new PDF and replace the pages of the old one that has the form fields with the pages from the new: Document > Replace Pages
Any fields, code, bookmarks, links, etc. will be retained.

  • Is there a way to shift fields down or remodify document in Word without losing form fields?

I have a document that I created from Word and added in forms and fields in Acrobat. I now need to shift some fields down to make more space on the page and also adjust widths on some tables. Is there a way to do this easily in Acrobat? If not, is it possible to some how go back into Word (with some sort of link) and make these changes without losing all my fields/formulas/etc.?
I am not using Forms Central because I have calculations in my form.
    Thank you in advance!

I am having trouble finding (Document -> Replace Pages). I did find Layers in Navigation but I do not see any. Do I not have any layers in my PDF? I opened a Word Document in Adobe Acrobat Pro and proceeded to add my fields and formulas in the document. Shouldn't this automatically create a layer ontop of the content?  Sorry for all the questions, I am pretty new with Acrobat Pro.
    Thanks!

  • Excel to pdf and back without losing formatting

I have created an Excel spreadsheet to become a fillable form and have to add new information to the original excel file that is to be included on the fillable form. How do I do this without losing all of the work I created on the fillable form ie text, check, radio buttons and formatting of fields

    Hi,
You may open that converted pdf form in Acrobat.
Go to > Tools > Forms > Edit.
Then make changes you would like to add for form fields.  And if you want to Edit text. Toos> Content Editing.

  • How do I NOT allow a PDF Fillable form I've created to be saved?

I just got XI Pro ... I've never had a pro version before.  A co-worker who has used pro for ages (but has an older version) showed me how to make it so that a PDF filled form could be saved by another user.  However, in the version I have it seems that the ability for another user to save a PDF filled form is automatic ... I can't figure out how to shut it off.
Our PDF fillable forms will be on our website, but we DO NOT WANT a user to be able to save the filled or the blank form.  Looking for a PRINT-ONLY option once it's been filled out.
    Anyone have any ideas??
    Thanks!

This was recent;y discussed here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5881211
There was a major change made with Reader 11 that allows it to save filled-in forms, add all sorts of comments/markups, and some other things without the document needing to be Reader-enabled, unlike all previous versions. This is what you're noticing. So the best you can do is attempt to clear the fields when the document is saved and/or when it's opened.

  • Is there a way to save a fillable form (in Reader) as a static (uneditiable) image and send it for signature without the recipient being able to revise the fields at all?

Is there a way to save a fillable form (in Reader) as a static (uneditiable) image and send it for signature without the recipient being able to revise the fields at all? I have designed a number of fillable forms and sent them to our clients as Reader extended pdfs to be filled out and sent back. Now, certain clients want to be able to fill in the fields and save the doc as a pdf that can't be tampered with so that they can send it to their own people for signature to be returned to them hand-signed and scanned via email.
Since the forms have been secured, and my cleints are only using the free Acrobat Reader, how can they save the filled in form as a static pdf to send on for signature? They do not want to have to print, scan and email. Is there an app, plug-in, simple solution to this?
    Thank you,
    Rumor

The signature WILL work! I've just looked into it more, thank you so much for pointing me in that direction.
I get it now, it locks the form fields in place after my coworker fills them in and signs it (as the very last step).
I wish I would have asked on here a full day ago. Would have saved a lot of headache and Googling.
    Thanks again.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

  • Issue while changing fields in a fillable form PDF (Acrobat 10.1.4 Pro)

    Good Afternoon!
This is my first time posting here, so forgive me if this is in the wrong place.
I am an IT technician trying to support a user who is trying to change a PDF into a fillable form using Acrobat 10.1.4.  She is trying to use the wizard as shown in the image below:
When she uses this function, Acrobat goes through and automatically detects all possible fields and creates them for her.  Below is an image of the result:
What she is trying to do is change some of the field types - specifically, she wants to change the box next to "Adult/non-college request" to a check box.  She right clicks on this field to change it, and when she does, Acrobat simply closes.  No error comes up, and she is not given the option to save the document - when she opens it again, it is an ordinary PDF.  In addition, if she creates the form, and then only tries to save the form (without trying to change the fields), Acrobat again simply closes itself.  However, she is able to manually create fillable fields if she does not use the wizard at all, and the document functions normally.
Any help with this issue would be most appreciated.

    Save early and often.
I would save the result right after the wizard has made its errors.
One needs to delete the form field and then manually add the correct type of field. If you want that check box and the next to be mutually exclusive, one gives them the same name and sets the export value for each check box to a unique value.
I edit forms by opening the "Tools => Forms => Edit fields".
How to create editable PDF form fields
I do not like the wizards and create forms by adding all form fields manually according to my planned form design.

  • Can Word 2010 populate fillable fields in a pdf fillable form?

Is it possible to define fillable fields in a word 2010 document (name, address, city, state, zip, date) so that after a save to pdf and [Page] add existing file, an existing pdf fillable form will auto-populate same named fields in the added pdf fillable form?

Thanks, George!  In the form I am creating, I ask respondents to identify a number of organizations that they work with.  For example, I ask "Please list up to ten organizations" and then I provide ten text boxes for organizations 1-10.  I then ask a series of follow up questions (radio buttons, check boxes, and rating scales) about each organization.  I would like to auto-populate the fields of those follow up questions with the names of the organizations that the respondents had written.  Does that make sense?  Will this require JavaScript?  My hope is to avoid complicated scripts that may give respondents technical problems with the form.  Thanks again,
    Andy
