Fillable Forms to be saved as non fillable after filled

I need to distribute a fillable form to committee members to fill out. They then need to save these as non-fillable or normal? pdfs for passing on to non committee members.
I have created awesome forms that are reader extended but have no way to save these forms as non fillable. Print to .pdf? There has to be a more elegant solution

Hi Rahatawa,
How was the form created, if the form was created using LiveCycle Designer: Saving Fillable Form as non-fillable PDF
And if is Acrobat form, you may try suggestion from this link: How to "flatten" a pdf in Adobe Acrobat X Pro, Under print production, under tool in Acrobat--> Flattener preview. Also, ::Form Field Flattening in Acrobat X

  • Saving to non-fillable PDF

Instead of saving as a fillable pdf, I want to save my form as a static pdf for printing and/or including in white papers as an example. I'd like it to look the same as when I'm creating it in FormCentral with help text symbols, etc. Is there a way to do this, perhaps through the paid version? I have tried to take screenshots of my FormCentral design, but the resolution just isn't good enough.

We do not support exporting into a flat PDF but you can export to a PDF file without a submit button (see under the File menu). We never show (?) in the PDF. The help text is shown when you hover over the field with the mouse.

  • My newly created fillable form is not saving the data input by applicant

I have created a fillable form from a word document using Acrobat XI. This has been uploaded to our careers website, however, feedback from some applicants is that have completed this rather detailed application form they are unable to save the newly input information and thus when the forms come back to us they are blank.  Is there a setting that I should have applied to prevent this from happening?

It sounds like the users with the problem are using Adobe Reader older the version XI. For those users the form requires Extended Form Rights be applied tot he PDF form by you before they can save the from.

  • Fillable form sometimes erases saved data after brief appearance

I have created a fillable employee evaluation form using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 forms wizard. The form does have Adobe Reader enhanced features enabled, as the users have mostly Reader 9 or Reader X.  This form is used by supervisors to conduct annual evaluations, at dozens of different sites.  Users are able to save the form on their hard drives, then fill the form and save it under another file name on their own hard drive.  Sometimes, but not always, when they open the saved file, the information that they have filled out will appear briefly (2-3 seconds), then disappear.  If they know to do so, they can hit "File" and "Revert" and the text will reappear, if they do not know to do this, the blank form is saved, even if they close that blank file without saving.
I have been able to replicate this problem only when using Reader - not when using the Pro version.  Again, the Adobe Reader enhanced feature are already enabled, and users are able to save the forms on their computers - it is only occasionally that the filled form data "disappears", and can only be recalled with File and Revert - and only if they don't panic and close the file before taking this step.  Suggestions?  Thanks.

If you are using a non-Adobe product to view the PDF then that product may not support all of the forms feature that Adobe products support.

  • Does the recipient of an Acrobat fillable form have to have Acrobat in order to fill it out?

I'm hoping to post fillable Adobe Acrobat forms on our website, but am wondering if those filling them out will have to also have Acrobat. Most if not all of them will only have Reader.

    Hi lorriec60821670,
If the form is saved in 'Reader Extended PDF' format then it is not necessary for the person filling the form to have Acrobat installed on their system.
You can created forms using Acrobat on your computer & Save them using 'Reader Extended PDF' option , this will allow the users at the other end to fill the form using Adobe Reader & it won't be necessary for them to install Acrobat on their system.
Let me know if you still need any help, we will be more than happy to assist you.

  • Saving a form that can be saved in Adobe Reader after filled out.

I have created a form using Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended and would like it to be filled out and than saved as is to the hard drive of the person receiving it. I have looked at how to do this and it says go to File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features. I opened up my document in Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended and went to File > Save As but it doesn't give me the option for Reader Extended PDF or anything at all. It just has the Save As button which will open up the Save As Dialogue box. What do I need to do to be able to save this how I would like this?

In Acrobat 9 it's: Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader
    They change it every time.

  • Can live cycle create a PDF form that is saved on a desktop and filled out simply to be attached to

I'm new to using LiveCycle to create PDF forms. I have a simple "Request for Quote" form that simply needs to be filled out in Acrobate Reader and then attached to a new Email message that goes to our quoting people.
right now when the form is opened by the users in READER it shows the message PLEASE FILL OUT THE FOLLOWING FORM. YOU CANNOT SAVE DATA TYPED INTO THE FORM. PLEASE PRINT YOUR COMPLETED FORM IF YOU WOULD LIKE A COPY FOR YOUR RECORDS.
Years ago i remember having a simple form that you could just send out have a user fill in the boxes and then just email it back filled in. I love the layout options that LiveCycle gives but i'm having a hard time with a simple "fill this out and email it back" option.
I've been hunting around in LiveCycle for an option that would allow this but i must keep missing it.
    any help or ideas??

You are doing exactly what I am as well, and creating a savable form. Although it is a slight process, it is very do-able.
    1. First create your form in LiveCycle. Once finshed, save it and close down LiveCycle. (e.g. you should have "Document1.pdf")
    2. Open your new PDF with Acrobat Professional. Make sure you see the fields, and then add Usage Rights to the document (Advanced - Enable Usage Rights In Acrobat Reader).
    3. It will ask you to save it, so save it as something else. (e.g. now you save it as "Document1A.pdf")
    4. Then the KEY is to chose File - Save As and save it one last time as another name. (e.g. "Document1Final.pdf")
    5. Close Acrobat Professional and open your final file ("Document1Final.pdf") with Acrobat Reader. You should be able to fill out and save the PDF, so it can be emailed back as a filled-in document. At this point you can make a copy of it and name it whatever you would like the customers to see ("BobsRequestForQuote.pdf")
Remember not to save over your final document (or you will have to recreate it), but keep it in a safe place for sending out to customers. Sure beats handwritten forms sometimes!

  • Saving a fillable pdf form as a non-fillable pdf form in Acrobat

    Hi all,
I have created a form from Acrobat Pro 9 and I would like users to be able to fill out the fields, be able to edit, save it and email them back to me. Although, once it is sent, I would like the form to be locked and non-fillable.
Is this possible in Acrobat Pro 9?
    Thank you in advance.

Use digital certificate signature to lock the fields.

  • Fillable Form - Can't use in Reader

I've developed a fillable form that I saved to be able to access in reader.  Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be working.  Here's a link...
    http://www.blocaldetroit.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Just-Baked-F04_distributed_0001.pd f
Can someone help me figure out what I need to do in order to fix this?  I just need people to be able to fill in the form and submit it without having Adobe Pro (reader only).  Please help!
    Thanks in advance!

Not sure why you'd post this in the forum for PDF Pack, a subcription service...?
Please also indicate the exact symptoms in Reader, and which version of Reader, rather than replying on everyone getting the same results as you.

  • How do I NOT allow a PDF Fillable form I've created to be saved?

I just got XI Pro ... I've never had a pro version before.  A co-worker who has used pro for ages (but has an older version) showed me how to make it so that a PDF filled form could be saved by another user.  However, in the version I have it seems that the ability for another user to save a PDF filled form is automatic ... I can't figure out how to shut it off.
Our PDF fillable forms will be on our website, but we DO NOT WANT a user to be able to save the filled or the blank form.  Looking for a PRINT-ONLY option once it's been filled out.
    Anyone have any ideas??
    Thanks!

This was recent;y discussed here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5881211
There was a major change made with Reader 11 that allows it to save filled-in forms, add all sorts of comments/markups, and some other things without the document needing to be Reader-enabled, unlike all previous versions. This is what you're noticing. So the best you can do is attempt to clear the fields when the document is saved and/or when it's opened.

  • When creating a fillable form and saving it as a pdf, the default color of the data fields is a light blue. How do I change the color to something else that will copy better, e.g. a light yellow?

It's probably the fields highlight color of the application, which you can change via Edit - Preferences - Forms.

  • PDF fillable form saved as reader extended version will not open in reader on ipad2

I have forms that I have created in livecycle and saved as reader extended versions.  We I try to open them from adobe.com in the adobe reader on my ipad2 I get the Please wait... screen the form never opens.  Any help?

Technically, they can be opened but we will only display the placeholder page asking you to "wait" =). The form content is not viewable or fillable.

  • Create a fillable form that can be saved by others

Hi, I'm working in Adobe Acrobat X Pro, I'm on a PC
I know that you go to File>Save As...>Reader extended pdf>
After that I get "Enable Adding Text in Documents (that are not fillable form)...
I then get a form that is using a "typewriter" tool." That's not what I want.  I want a fillable form that can be saved by the person filling out the form and not have to use the typewriter tool.  I don't like the way that looks or works.  I hope there is someone that can help.  I used to be able to do this and don't understand what has changed.
    Thanks!

Advanced > Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader
Yes, it will allow pre-11 Reader users to save.

  • Saving fillable forms

I have tried to create an electronic version of a paper manual that uses fillable forms for parents to keep track of their child's healthcare records.  I know how to create the forms as fillable forms, but I'm not sure how to get them to be "saveable" so that parents can reopen them with the information saved i the forms.  I have tried using save as but it doesn't seem to work.  Am I missing a step or is this not possible at all?

Thanks George.  I don't think I gave enough information.  I have Acrobat 8.  I have grouped the chapters of the manual into sections.  Not all the pages are fillable if that makes a difference.  When I follow your instructions for Acrobat 9, I choose "enable usage rights in adobe reader".  I select it under the advanced tab. I get a message "This document contains attachments.  Reader features will only be enabled for the main doc, not for any attached files".    I tried testing the document to see if I fill the document with information and use 'save package as" under the file menu or "save as" under the options menu , but neither seemed to work. It did work for me once, but have been unable to replicate.  What am I doing wrong!  Thanks for any help you can give me!
