Fillable PDF with Electronic writing

Hey all:
I created a fillable form in Acrobat Pro 9. Works very well with the check boxes and text fields. The problem I am having is that I can't figure out how to make a field that allows you to write in it electronically. There is a form we are creating that requires a signature and we have Tablet PC's so it would be create to create a form people can sign with the stylus pen right on the screen. The users will be opening this in Adobe Reader (9 or 10).  Does anyone know how to do this? Any help would be appreciated
Thanks!
Zach Skidmore

Thanks! that provides a suitable work around that I need.
Cheers
Zach

    Started in Preview to save...but PDF, with electronic signature, will not save. In Finder it's nowhere, tried multiple times.

    I am having the same problem with signatures.  I am including a form in a pdf portfolio to collect signatures from different users who have Reader.  I make sure that features have been extended for reader. Most of the time they are okay.  But every once in a while (at least one every two weeks) I get a user telling me they can't sign.  No message or error of any kind, just a quick blink but no signature.  As a work-around I've had to save a copy and re-extend features.  This can be time consuming when there are a few documents I need to circulate.  Please advise.

  • Using a fillable PDF with a FormsCentral Link collection.

    I want to inport a fillable PDF and then use the Forms Central link distribution to collect responses vs sending out the fillable PDF with a submit button. How do I do that ?

    Good day,
    Our CreatePDF service does not allow you to create fillable PDF files. You can find an overview of CreatePDF's features here: https://www.acrobat.com/createpdf/en/features.html
    For this capability, you need Adobe Acrobat.
    There is no upgrade path from CreatePDF to Adobe Acrobat available.
    Kind regards,
    David

  • Can't download or open a fillable pdf with Windows 8.1   - desperately need help!

    My son is working on a Boy Scout Eagle project.  He recently got a computer with Windows 8.1.  I also have Windows 8.1 on my computer.  Neither of us are able to open the Eagle service project workbook fillable pdf form he already started and emailed to himself from his old computer or to download a new form from the BSA website.  The latest version of Adobe pdf reader (11) is installed on both our machines.  Here is the page from which we are to download the form:
    Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook Procedures
    Can anyone help us?

    Have you tried opening the PDF directly from Adobe Reader? Windows 8.1 included Microsoft Reader, which is far less capable than Adobe Reader, and can't work with XFA-based PDF forms like the one you're trying to use.

  • Fillable PDF with graphics instead of text?

    Is there a way to create a fillable PDF where you import a graphic instead of just typing text in?
    I have a form that will be used by and organization with multiple chapters.  They would like the Fillable PDF made so that each chapter can just drop in their own chapter logo into the form and print.  Is there a way to do this without me having to create a different PDF for each chapter with their own logo in it?
    thanks

    There is if it doesn't have to work with Reader. This was discussed in a recent topic here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4082243#4082243
    A form created with LiveCycle Designer will allow Reader to populate an image field with images of certain formats, but the button approach is far more flexible, apart from the Reader issue.

  • Unable to Fill in Fillable PDF with Adobe Reader 11

    I have created a fillable pdf using adobe designer 9 and have saved it to be compatible with reader. I sent out the form to several collegues and one person wrote back that they are having issues. The person has adobe reader 11 and cannot save the form. Is this an adobe reader 11 issues since other collegues with a different version of reader are able to open the document. Is this a known issue and is there a solution?
    Please advise. Thank you in advance,
    Ashley

    No problem! the person just got back to me. Thank you again for all your help.
    - Operating system she is using is windows XP (she said 10 in her response, but I think she meant XP)
    - Reader version: Adobe XI
    - Form is posted on a website in which users can click and download to their computer to fill out, save, and send back. Here is the link for the actual form : http://www.transceleratebiopharmainc.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/TransCelerate-Site-Pro file-Form.pdf
    - form is downloaded by click on the link on the website, browser would be any that the user has on their computer. for the person with the issue she is using Internet Explorer.
    - The person gets and error message. The top of her form is purple and reads : " Please fill out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records."

  • Creating a Fillable PDF with Acrobat Pro 9

    Hey there, i've got a problem when trying to create a fillable PDF Document.
    I simple want to get a calculation done.
    I got Checkboxes and i need a calculation like this:
    For example:
    If there is a "x" in the field named checkbox1, then it should go forward and check what number is in the Field named "Hours1"
    if its higher than 2, it should put a 0,25 in the field, if higher than 4, put a 0,5 in the field, if higher than 6, put a 0,75 in the field and if higher than 8, put a 1 in the field and if nothing is written in hours1, leave it blank
    Like:
    If checkbox1 > 0 then if hours1 > 2 then 0,25 else if hours1 > 4 then 0,5 else if > 6 then 0,75 else if > 8 then 1 else ""
    i used this calculation on excel but now we wanted to send a fillable pdf via email, but the recievers of the email always mix up the calculation, so i wanted to have it already in the pdf and calculating by it own.
    i found basic things like field1 + field2  but i just saw that i need javascript to get what i need.
    but well, i dont have any idea of JS.
    maybe u can give me some links where i can learn it or something else.
    iam looking forward to any help i recieve.
    thanks for reading and i hope u can help me.

    "Automatic Form Recognition" looks for blank areas next to text and assumes the format.
    You probably will need to place each individual form and write each script.
    You can find articles at Planet PDF and Acrobat Users Community and there a number of books on how to create and program forms.

  • How to create fillable PDF with dynamic content dropdowns?

    I'm creating a March Madness bracket for people that don't really understand how they work.  What I'd like to do is have dropdowns for each of bracket lines (they would list the teams playing against each other for that game and they would select who they think would win).  I would then like the dropdown for the next game to auto-populate with only the two options for the next round.
    For example, team A and team B play against each other and teams C and D play against each other.  There are two separate dropdowns, one with A and B as choices and the other with C and D as choices.  The user thinks A and C will win their games, so the next dropdown would only have the options of selecting A and C.  To illustrate:
    AA and B are listed in the dropdown, and the user selects A to win.
    BA or C are listed in the dropdown because the user has selected A and C to win their previous games.
    CC and D are listed in the dropdown, and the user selects C to win.
    D
    I can make the first round dropdowns just fine, but I'm not sure how to conditionally/dynamically populate the second round dropdowns based off of user selections.

    I don't understand your request but my english is not the best.
    But here you can see a script. You can copy this in the first dropdown in the exit-event.
    In this example you will give the first dropdwon the entries
    "123"
    "345"
    "678"
    The first case describes what happens when the user clicks "123" the second drowdown will get the entries "456" and "789".
    When the user clicks "456" the second drowdown will get the entries "123" and "789".
    I think you can adapt this script as you need.
    Hope I could help a little bit,
    Mandy
    switch (xfa.event.newText)
        case "123":
            DropdownListe2.clearItems();
            DropdownListe2.addItem("Please select a value");
            DropdownListe2.addItem("456");
            DropdownListe2.addItem("789");
            DropdownListe2.selectedIndex = 0;
            break;
        case "456":
            DropdownListe2.clearItems();
            DropdownListe2.addItem("Please select a value");
            DropdownListe2.addItem("123");
            DropdownListe2.addItem("789");
            DropdownListe2.selectedIndex = 0;
            break;
        case "789":
            DropdownListe2.clearItems();
            DropdownListe2.addItem("Please select a value");
            DropdownListe2.addItem("123");
            DropdownListe2.addItem("456");
            DropdownListe2.selectedIndex = 0;
            break;
        default:
            break;

  • Question re Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and distributing fillable PDFs

    I am using Acrobat 9 Pro and created a fillable PDF (with a great deal of help from George Johnson!!). I now find out that because of licensing constrictions I can only send and receive 500 fillable PDFs (or maybe it's a total of 500 sent and received fillable PDFs, it's unclear to me). After doing some research it seems that Acrobat 9 Pro Extended comes with LiveCycle. Does that mean that I can send out and receive more than 500 fillable PDFs? I can't find any documentation and it's too late to call Adobe tech, so just wondering if anyone knew off the top of their head. Thanks much.

    > When using Save As to save a PDF, is it possible to have Commenting and Analysis enabled for that saved PDF by default?
    No.

  • Calculations not updating in fillable PDF

    I have a fillable PDF with columns of numbers requiring totals. The sum function works but if I then change one of the numbers in the column, the total does not update unless I also change another field (for example, a description field or some other field that seems to refresh the calculation). Is this a bug and is there any way to force a refresh to avoid having to manually prompt the form to update the sum?
    Thanks!

    OK. I see the option now, but it lists all of the calculations in the entire form. My problem is that once all of the form data is entered and then the user changes a value, the sum is not updated automatically. Hope I'm explaining this properly..

  • Fillable PDF Interaction

    I have a user request to have our APEX application present a fillable PDF form to the user with some of the fields pre-populated from the database, have the user complete the form and submit the changes to the database.
    I have created the fillable PDF with Adobe Pro but I'm not sure how to interact with it via APEX. Has anyone had experience with this and can point me in the right direction?
    Thanks

    Hi Dave,
    I totally understand your quandry. All the forum posts seem to be about PDF output+ and what we need is PDF input! And Apex covers webservices as a client, but what about hosting the service? At SFFD we're trying to achieve something similar to what you describe. Mind you: we're developing the pdf forms ourselves; don't know if you are too. The path we're currently exploring is to use a pdf form button to http POST the xml data of the form to the database. Oracle Streams docs part VI (chapter 17) "Internet Access to Oracle Streams AQ" seems to point the way to submitting SOAP requests to the database. Now I'm trying to figure out that architecture's moving parts. We might otherwise try to have the form ftp the xml to an XML DB repository. do you, *(or anyone!)*, have any other leads on sucking pdf form data into the db?

    P.S. Also, we have the added convenience of a sequestered network, so security is not the same level issue for us that it is for most. And what's up with those reponses that atempt to critique your requirements? These type responses are not at all helpful, people. We don't create our requirements, we attempt to meet them.
    UPDATE: IXNAY on the OAPSAY (for us at least). Looks like Internet access to oracle streams requires a J2EE server like oracle application server (@ $50k/cpu/yr ?) to implement the aqxmlSERVLET - which we don't have none of. Maybe we can route xml to XMLDB repository using existing IIS. Chapter 15 of XML DB manual indicates: ODP.NET supports XML natively in the database, through Oracle XML DB. ODP.NET XML support includes the following features:

  • Cannot sign fillable pdf

    I've scoured the forums and the web looking for help with this - hopefully someone can assist.  A colleague created a fillable PDF with Acrobat X Pro (trial version).  It has a number of fields and a signature box, but when I try and fill it in with Reader 10.1.2 it won't let me sign or save info.
    Thing is, when I look at the security settings under document properties on the machine it was created on, all the options are listed as "allowed."  However when I do likelwise on my computer with Adobe Reader,  it tells me Document Assembly, Commenting, Signning, and Creation of template pages are NOT allowed.  We've tried looking at it on a few different computers (I don't know what versions or apps were used) but on two of my computers, both with the same version of Reader it tells me I can't sign it.  If I click on the signature box nothing happens.  If I click on the "Sign" option at the top right, it tells me the security settings prevetn adding text and/or placing a signature on it from Adobe Reader.
    Can anyone tell me why it might be signable/savable on some machines but not on others?  Many thanks!
    I am running Windows 7 Professional v 6.1

    The document needs to be Reader-enabled. This allows Reader to do certain things it normally is not able to do, such as saving a filled-in form and signing a digital signature field. To do this in Acrobat 10, select: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features

    i am on a Windows 7 professional PC, 64-bit.

    If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
    The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
    Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

    My customer is using a PDF fillable form I created, which has a single text box to use for letters, etc. She has a Word document that contains a table/chart that she wants to insert into the fillable PDF, but when she brings it into the PDF the table/chart disappears.  How can she get that part of her Word document to insert properly?
