Filling a Friend's Ipod without deletions

I have gone back to look at other posts and realize that programs like Yamipod successfully export tunes from ipod into itunes.
I told my friend I would add a significant amount of music from my itunes onto her ipod. However, I am of course petrified of deleting the existing songs on her ipod. I simply want to add my library without deleting what already exists on her ipod.
Would it make more sense to use a program to get her songs into my itunes? Or can I manually put songs from my itunes into her ipod without deleting what already is on there?
This is urgent, so I really appreciate any guidance!! Thanks!

You should be able to "manually manage songs" under preferences.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.

  • How can I put a movie on my ipod without deleting other movies?

I have a movie (and extras) on my ipod nano that I downloaded years ago and placed my ipod. Unfortunately, that computer crashed and I no longer have the computer.
I recently downloaded a digital copy of a movie that came with the DVD I bought on my new computer. When I tried to put this movie on my ipod, I received a message saying that in order to do this, I would have to link my ipod to this itunes library on my computer and it would delete my old movie. I don't want this happen so how can I put my new movie on my ipod without deleting my old movie (and extras)?
(Also, I have no idea if this will be necessary information, but I want to give all the information for this question...the e-mail address I used to download the 1st movie is no longer in use due to security reasons. I've been using a new e-mail that has worked fine for downloading music and my new movie.)
I hope someone can help me!
    Thank you in advance.

Are you sure you have enough space on the ipod for the new movie? If you do, make sure it's loaded in i-tunes, and it's check box is checked, then click sync, or apply, and everything should load.

  • Removing unchecked songs from ipod, without deleting the files from itunes?

I want to remove a large amount of songs from my ipod, without deleting them from my itunes.
I unchecked them all in itunes, but accidentally synced my ipod without selecting "Sync only checked songs." But now when I sync it--even with that box checked-- it leaves all the unchecked songs on my ipod.
I can't seem to just go into the music on my ipod and delete them either.
Is there anyway I can automatically remove all the unchecked songs from my ipod without deleting them from itunes?
(I know I can manually choose what to sync, but it would be a massive headache to go through 30 gigs of music to select the 20 I want on there....)

    Hey Emily,
So the *Sync only checked songs and videos* option is still ticked from under your iPod's Summary tab correct? If so, what options do you have ticked from under the Music tab for your iPod? If it is set to only sync *Select Artists, Playlists, and Genres* try changing that to sync your entire music library. Then make sure to hit the Apply button to update the changes to your iPod.
    Any luck there?

  • How to add music to iPod without deleting audiobooks

    Windows 7

free books from library on a time loan
It's a *itch!  Every time I add music (which is actually audio files of lectures) all my audio books get erased.  I had one chapter left to hear today and my time loan ended some time today.  Now I have to go back to the library and wait until it comes off hold.  All because iTunes *****.  How can I add or change music on my iPod without touching/changing/deleting or affecting my audiobooks?
    Please, I need help!

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Updating ipod without deleting music

I can't get at the music on my son's 4th gen ipod touch.  (Ok, we can play it on the ipod, but I can't delete anything.)
I am trying to delete SOME of the music on my son's 4th gen ipod touch.  When I try to access his machine via itunes on my pc, itunes wants to do an update before I can see anything.  Then it says do you really want to delete everything when you update?  Of course I say, no, I DON'T want to do that--and then I'm back to not being able to see anything or get at the music on the ipod. If I choose "cancel", there is no other way to even SEE what's on there.  He's got so much stuff on there I can't update anything without deleting something. I took off all his photos but it's not enough, and I don't want to delete his apps.  Stuck, frustrated...I have no "coping skills" for apple products and I'm ready to flush this thing.  Annoyed that I can't just delete the songs from the darn ipod without having to hook up to my pc and do this update.  (I understand you can do this in 5th gen, but as I said, this is 4th gen.)

  • How can i get all of the new music I loaded into iTunes onto my iPod without deleting the content that is already on it?

I just loaded a bunch of music from my CD library into iTunes in the hopes of loading it onto my iPod. The problem is now I can't figure out how to do it. Two issues... First it says that if I synch it will delete what is already on my iPod which I absolutely do not want. Second, is there a way to load each of the albums without having to create a play list?
Ugh... Always a frustrating experience trying to deal with iTunes.

You can only sync your device to one iTunes library at a time. You can either copy the music from the library on your other computer to the one you have loaded the new CDs onto, or you can purchase an external CD Drive and load them to the iTunes library you are currently sync'd with:

For syncing, I am not familiar with the drag and drop method. I have always used the normal sync process:

  • Somehow my itunes started a new library and I lost my old library. Itunes will not allow me to sync new music to my ipod without deleting stored music from ipod. How can I start using this new library and sync the new music without losing existing music.

Somehow my Itunes started a new music library and I lost the old library.  Itunes will not allow me to sync new music from my computer to my Ipod because it is now in a different library. Itunes wants to delete all my Ipod music before sync any new music. How do I work around this. I think this happened during Itunes Upates.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • HT1473 How do I sync new purchased music onto my ipod without deleting/replacing with current library. I recently changed computers and new library doesnt have any of my playlists either.

    Hi All:
I recently got a new computer, authorized new one with itunes and when I go into my library it has none of my playlists that I originally created. Also, I purchased new songs on itunes and as I did in the past, I connected my ipod Nano to automatically sync to get the new music and hopefully all my playlists would go into my itunes library and I received a message asking am I sure I want to delete all my ipod contents and replace with library contents? I canceled and dont want to loose my existing ipod collection as I have more songs on there than my itunes library plus my playlists are all on my ipod.  What I want to do is sync new songs to ipod and sync my playlists from ipod to my itunes library.
    Please help!!
    Thank you so much!
    Michelle

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you purchased all songs in the iTunes Store, plug your iPod to your Mac or PC and iTunes will ask you to transfer purchases.
If you didn't purchase any song or you have non-purchased songs from the iTunes Store, you have to use an application to transfer the songs to iTunes. Here is a list of applications you can use for that > https://discussions.apple.com/message/11319208#11319208

  • How can I update my ipod without deleting everything on it?

Ok, so here is the situation, and I am pretty sure I am screwed.
I have an ipod touch, 32 GB 3rd or 4th gen (the one right before the one with a camera)
My macbook (1st gen) died last april, taking with it all my music, photos, apps and other such files that are still stored on my ipod.
I've already used a 3rd party ripping tool to save most of my music, but I have no way of saving or backing up my apps or photos.
I am currently on my brother's macbook trying to update my ipod so my apps will work right (It has not been updated since april) and
I keep running into the issue of distroying everything that is on my ipod.
I do not have to money to get a new computer myself right now, so I can't really just start over, and I really do not want to repay for all the apps I have purchased. is there any way to update the IOS on my ipod touch without distroying all my apps, music and photos?
