  • Filling out PDF forms in Landscape Mode

I have used Preview to fill out PDF forms in Portrait mode and it's very nice because I can save the modified file and email it to others, or just keep it for reference. Anyway, I downloaded a PDF form and tried to fill out the text. It highlights the form fields just right, with the blue glowy rectangle and everything, and when I type in the text it appears just fine, until that field loses focus, then the text goes goofy--it shows up starting at the right hand side of the field and goes in the wrong direction. It's as if Preview still thinks that the PDF is in portrait mode even though it's in landscape mode. Do you know what I'm doing wrong or if there's a fix out there?

  • Problems with filling out PDF forms

We have problems with filling out PDF-forms. Aotomatic filling of forms is deactivated and we use the Adobe Reader 11.0.05. The problem is: After some time the inputs are wrong put down in the form. For example: I write 120 and in the form stands 125. We have already extinguished the cache. Thanks for your help in advance.

You will get that first message when the document has been changed in a way that invalidates the internal digital signature that's applied when a document is Reader-enabled. Certain changes are allowed (e.g., filling fields, commenting, signing) and will not invalidate the signature, but others are not. The exact cause of the change is often hard to track down, but it can be due to font problems, some type of file corruption, or something that Acrobat/Reader attempts to correct when the file is opened/saved. You will also get the message if the users system time is not correct and is currently set to some time before the document was Reader-enabled. It seems best to use the most recent version of Acrobat to enabled the documents and recent versions of Reader to work with them.
It problem is probably not related to the user using anything in the Sign pane.

  • Need to fill out PDF forms

Does anyone have a good app for filling out PDF forms?  I used Acrobat Pro in Windows, but then my employer supplied it for me.  I'm not going to pay $300 to fill out PDF forms.  I tried it in Preview, as people say that works, but I can't get it to work.  The forms I have to fill out that are supplied by my employer won't accept editing in Preview.  They work fine in Acrobat Pro in Windows.  I also tried formulate.pro, but I couldn't save the form back to PDF, only to a propietary format.  Not useful for sharing these forms with colleagues.  Is there a solution to this problem?  Thanks.

I know about that.  Unfortunately, the form can no longer be modified once you do that.  (According to others who have tried it.)  I know it's a pretty nit-picky list of requirements I have, but I work in a very Windows-centric, Mac-hostile workplace (even though a sizeable minority of people here use Macs).  I've been using a Mac since 2004, and it's been a battle to solve one problem after another: web pages that only render "properly" in IE, web applications that only work "properly" in IE, a voice messaging system that is Mac-hostile, and most recently this business with the forms.  My solution has usually been "if it doesn't work in Firefox or Safari, then it doesn't work."  Unfortunately, I don't have that option with these forms.  More and more of what I have to do must be done either online or at least digitally, and yet we are generating more paper than ever!  And no one who is responsible for creating/purchasing the apps to do all these things seems even to know about the existence of any OS other than Windows.  Sorry about the rant, but that is the world at Coastal Carolina University!

  • Filled out pdf form, did not save, cannot locate

filled out pdf form, did not save, cannot locate

    Hi angel07h,
Did you try to save the file, but the save was unsuccessful? Or did you just not have a chance to save the file? Where did you get the form? Did you download it from a website, or fill it out directly on a website?
I look forward to hearing back from you.
    Best,
    Sara

  • Help inserting a filled out pdf form into a pdf report.

Why can I not insert a filled out pdf form into my pdf reports?  I am new to Adobe Acrobat X.

See what it says under: File > Properties > Description > PDF Producer
If it's an XFA form, is should say something like "Adobe LiveCycle Designer [version#]"
You can also open the interactive JavaScript console (Ctrl+J) and enter the following line of code:
    xfa
and with the cursor on the line, hit Ctrl+Enter, of the Enter key on the numeric keypad.
If it's an XFA form it will return:
    [object XFAObject]
Otherwise, it will return "xfa is not defined" and other stuff.

  • Need help filling out pdf forms on iPad

Adobe Reader (11.0.1) on my iPad2 (iOS 6.1.3) is not letting me fill out a form (just a bunch of text fields) that was created with Acrobat 8 Pro/LiveCycle. The form can be filled out fine with Reader 11.x on my WinXP desktop though. Any ideas?

No, you'll be just the same.
You need to not use LiveCycle Designer, but make the form in Adobe Acrobat. Everything you know about making forms in LiveCycle Designer will not help you at all.
These are a different kind of form, made differently, and with different features (e.g. they are always static in layout).
Also, you start with an existing PDF (not a form) for all the background and fixed text, then just add fields.
There are other things to do like avoid JavaScript. Start with very simple forms and test features, there doesn't seem to be a comprehensive list.

  • How to stop someone from filling out pdf form multiple times?

My customers order my service by down loading a .pdf form. They then fill out the form and submit the form to my email. How do I stop a customer from submitting the form multiple times. I would like for the customer to submit the form only once filled out. If I need more info I could follow up to their order manually via email. Thanks for your help!

One of the main reasons why you have a customer posting multiple submits would be because for some reason he/she doesn't know the first one was successful.
Add a property your form to record whether or not a valid submit has already happened. Use script to set that property on submit. Check each time the submit operation is fired to see if the property is set. If it is display an error dialog and stop the submit from occurring.
If someone wants to open multiple copies of your form and fill it out and send it to you, well there's nothing you can do about that.

  • HT201232 software for filling out pdf forms

software for filling out pdf forms

You can see from this posting in the Adobe Communities that you can get Adobe Reader from the App Store; you can fill out forms on an iPhone with it. Reader will also work with the iPad. I only use Reader on a Mac, but even though Preview will open PDF's and can be used to fill out forms, Reader seems to work better, which may be true running in iOS also.

  • I can not open a filled out pdf-form using Adobe Acrobat Pro X

I have a form in Indesign CS 5.5 and made it fillable with Adobe Acrobat Pro X. I enabled the 'additional features' to make the document a 'Reader extended pdf'. Whoever I send the form now, can fill it out and save it in (the free version of) Adobe Reader.
Problem is: when the recipients mail the filled out form back to me, I can not open the document. There is message that says: "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."
However, when I receive the filled-out file not by email (MS Outlook on a IMac) but on a USB-stick or something, I can manage to open the document the way it was filled out.
I'm guessing something goes wrong in the mailing process...
    Can anyone help me please?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the advice!
I'm afraid though that the problem is situated with the provider of the sender (when I open the email with my hotmail or gmail-account, it' s the same problem).
The idea of compressing the forms into zip-files is not very usefull because - i'm guessing - 90% of the recipients have never heard about a zip-file and are surely incapable of making one.
    Some other ideas?
    Thank you though!

  • Filling out PDF Forms

I have Adobe Acrobat 5.0 on my computer. I have a number of PDF forms that I would like to fill out, save and print out. I know I can print the forms out and then use a typewriter or ball-point pen to fill in the blanks, but who in the world would want to do that. I simply want to put the form on my screen, fill in the blanks, and safe it under a new file name so as not to alter my original. Can I do that with Adobe Acrobat 5.0, and if so, how

They may not be images, but they are not form fields. You can create your own form fields with the form tool. I have all the tools turned on and it is right next to the crop tool. As I recall, to get the form tool, you had to add the other updates to AA5. However, as long as you have AA5 with the form tool, just use it to create your own fields and type away.
I tend to use the text touchup tool in such cases and simple hold the ctrl key as I place the cursor. That will also do the job.

  • Filling out PDF forms & Saving with Preview

I've been having some frustrations with PDFs & Preview.
1.) Recently I had to fill out the IRS W9 form.  With Preview I filled it out, added my signature and saved it.  Again when I sent it to someone else, they could only see my signature and not any of the stuff I filled out.  On my end, I could see everything.
2.) Also recently a colleague sent me a PDF form, which he filled out and saved with Adobe Pro. He needed my signature, which I added using the new signature feature of Preview.  Saved it and sent it back to him.  When he opened it on his end, all of the information he had filled out had disappeard, and only my signature remained.  If I opened the same file on my end, I could see everything.
So, the new signature feature is great, but what good is it if I can't sign a PDF document and send it back to someone without it making everything else filled out on the document invisible to them?  Yes, I can do Print ==> Save as PDF as a work-around, but that still doesn't answer the question.

  • The data fields in a filled-out PDF form disappeared after a crash.  Is there any way to restore the lost entries?

Adobe Reader crashed while I had a filled-out Adobe PDF form open.  When I reopened the file, I found that all of the data that had been entered into the form fields had disappeared.  Is there any way to restore the data that is missing?
I note that the "Restore" command in the Adobe Reader file menu is not available (grayed out).
    Thanks for your time.

  • Cannot read filled-out pdf form on iPad

    Hello,
I completed and saved a pdf form and can view it on my MacBook Pro (OS 10.7.5), but when I open it on the iPad, the form is blank and I can't see any of the filled-out data.  After searching online for solutions, I went into Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 > Advanced, but PDF Optimizer is grayed out and I don't find info on how to activate it.  Any help would be appreciated!

If Adobe did I would recommend Acrobat.
ReaderISO work okay but nothing with any javascript or ability work with forms
Currently Reader is just that it allows your look at some PDF's
That is the only PDF Application that allows full java script and Forms fillout.

  • Fill out pdf form on iPad?

A friend has asked me to find out whether it's possible to fill out and sign a pdf form on an iPad. I don't have a stylus, so I have no way to test it. Does anyone know?

Adobe Reader will let you read and fill out form fields on the iPad. You can add a signature with it as well. You can highlight, annotate, rename files, and create folders. It's a pretty nice pdf app and it is free!
