Film 'damage' filter in PremPro? Artificial grain, yes I see. But I need damage.
I have used the artificial grain filter from time to time and it can wrk when applied properly, however, I am in need of a film damage filter. I'd like to add scratches, dirt, etc. is there a filter in premiere pro for that or one I can use in After Effects that I do not have to buy?
I also have video of film damage, but cannot figure out how to get it mixed wth my footage. I have read about using something called X-Ray but have no clue what that is.
Any help greatly appreciated.
In general we do it by overlaying stock footage (there's tons of it on the usual agency websites, for a price). If your 'damage' clip doesn't already have an alpha channel, change the blend mode in the clip's Opacity effect (multiply, overlay, etc), then play with the opacity slider until you get what you want.
A few people I know shooting on DSLR will use this idea to put back the "film look" - running filmscan on a strip of blank developed 35mm cine then looping it over their digital footage to put back the extremely-slight artifacts that you get from shooting on film. There are plugins for the same thing, but the DIY approach is cheaper if you can get hold of the stock.

I just popped in with using Mavericks (I got rid of my MBP about a year ago, and just got another one when I got an Air for my wife) and noticed that Mavericks is not working and playing well with a couple of programs I already owned (Paraellels, for example...yes, I spelled it wrong...). I looked for maginon.com and it didn't exist, nor was my google search directed to another location for them, so I postulate that the device may not be in production anymore, thus: no driver updates from the manufacturer.
From my mac-noob-layman's perspective: get some vmware, run windows and use the scanner in your virt machine to capture your images. Put the images in your mac side and work your mac magic on them there.

Anyone know which render format I should use, my film will be used on a video wall (12 screens) and I need super quality. My footage format is 1080p HD resolution 1920x1080. I will be running the project from a mac with a direct line to video wall. Thanks in advance.
I do some VJ-type work, involving playback of QuickTime files from the computer to projections, and I get good results using ProRes 422. That's convenient, because ProRes 422 is such a great editing codec, too.
Traditionally, VJs use PhotoJPEG codec, which also works well, but it's a bad editing codec. So you would have to export an edited master, then convert.
If you want it to look as good as possible, definitely schedule some time to test the footage on the wall. You may want to change the color correction of your footage to match the projectors. And if you feed the video wall some flat gray, you can see if any of the projectors need to be adjusted.
I'm not sure what application you're using for playback, but QuickTime Player 7 works well. It has an option to play fullscreen on an external monitor (View > Present Movie…). -
Hi all, I'm trying to download a film from iTunes onto my iPad but downloaded the HD version instead of SD and don't have the room to download it. Have removed everything I can to make space but still need another 1.2 GB. Is there any way I can delete it so I can delete the version I wanted, or even better change to the SD version? The film is still queuing in the downloads list. I've tried edit and delete but that doesn't work. I also can't re-download the film from iTunes.

If your contacts are synced to your computer then they are in the supported app you are syncing with.

i recently bought a few films from itunes but i had to reset my laptop and the films have gone and i have tried downloading purchased items but no films come up and im not buying them again. what do i do now to get my films back ?

If you're talking about photo stream, only photos added to the camera roll after turning on photo stream on your phone are uploaded. Photos in the camera roll before turning it on aren't.

i just downloaded ilife every things working fine except, when i try to open iPhoto it said ''You can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete. i tried to re-download it but my password didn't work for some reason. HELPPPP!!!
Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Just edited 20 film in FCPx all about 6 mins long all on 1 x 250gb flash drive
Now i have another 10 to do but have no room on that drive.
So i have been using my new 2tb drive to do the next 10 films with the footage on that drive, but i need elements from the first 20 films ie; graphics, common film elements etc to be added to the new 10 films.
So I have copied all the footage, events and project folders from the 20 edited films over to my 2tb drive in a separate folder - ejected the 250gb drive (as i only have 2 thunderbolt slots and one is used for a 27 inch monitor on my macbook pro)
.......my question is how do i load all of the 20 films into my project library so i can see all of the 30 films at once so i can copy and paste form one film to another - is this possible? and withlout messing up lol// any reason, why you color your post to 'invisible' low contrasted colors?? //

by concept, there's Events and there's Projects.
Events and Projects can be internal or on any ext. drive.
You can use any Event in any Project.
… so, why is the 'location' of your files on any relevance for your Projects ??
Or, do you want to re-import done-Projects as 'Events'? Export,Import, done… (??)

i had bought a HD-SP film on I-tunes, and watched the movie several times. but this morning it does'ent work and i have messege that i do not uderstand,

thxI don’t know about projection, but I’m unable to watch HD content in iTunes because my Apple 30-inch Cinema Display is not HDCP-compliant (which is part of an HD copy-protection scheme).
The other movies you’ve projected, were they HD as well? If not, it could be the same problem: your projector is not HDCP-compliant. -

How can I stop my lock-in results from oscillating. The low pass filter is creating artificial noise
I am using the lock in amplifier kit and sort of sending some of the parameters manually. I choose manually the low pass filter.
Now I find strange behavior depending on the filter I choose.
The lock in results oscillates in time, the higher the dB roll off the longer it seems to take to stabilize. Also the frequency of the oscillations becomes lower. This I don't find too weird, the problem is that it just won't stop.
If I use a small time constant and there is no real change in my signal I can easily follow the shape of the the oscillations.
If I use a larte time constant it seems there is an average over the oscillation and then it looks as if it was noise.
All the time my signal has not changed one bit.
This is very anoying since it produces about 20-300microV of noise. (peak to peak amplitude of the oscillations)
So far I've gotten the best results with the IIR (5dig) with 40dB roll off and order 1

My MacBook Air was put on sleep mode and a couple of hours later I attempted to turn it on and no response. I called apple support and went through the process to try to power it back on and it would not turn on . Nothing would show on the screen and I heard nothing coming from my MacBook Air .

Greatly appreciatedWell on the Air models there really isn't a traditional hard drive, it is a SSD/Flash drive that is integral to the system and can't really be removed or connected to another Mac for retrieving of files. So yes if you take it in and they have to replace the Logic board, The Hart Of the System, then more then likely all your files will be gone.
That is one reason Apple includes Time Machine for Backing Up the system including your files. If you never used Time Machione then eventually, At Some Point In Time, you will Lose all your data. That is a fact of all computers.
