Film wont resume downloading after iTunes crash

On purchasing a movie from the iTunes store (Green Lantern), I began to watch it as it was downloading, like I have done with every other film, as I have a realitively fast connection. However, during the movie, iTunes crashed to the desktop. When loading iTunes back up, the movie did not start loading again, like you would expect if you had to close and restart iTunes yourself. The movie also did not appear in the films tab.
Going back into the store, iTunes recognises I have bought the movie already, yet wont resume the download or show what has been already downloaded. Is there a way to get this film back without purchasing it again, or, if not, a way to get the cost refunded?

Nope, that doesn't work. iTunes says: "All purchases have been downloaded for this account."

    # In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The about:config "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.

  • ITunes does not resume downloads for itunes match after quitting

On my main computer (with my iTunes library), I deleted several songs that matched at 256k but were 128k.
I had about 300 iTunes match songs downloading and had to quit iTunes.
Upon quitting, iTunes threw up a dialogue box saying I would be prompted to resume downloads after restarting.
    That never happened.
Now, among my collection of over 3,000 "matched" songs, I do not know which are the incomplete files.
Additionally, several of the files had timed out because Apple's server's couldn't keep the connection open, and those too have disappeared from "downloads."
I tested by trying to download additional "matched" songs, but the timed out and incomplete downloads did not reappear.
    Does anyone have a workaround?
    Thanks!

I've run into this too.  You should be able to create a smart playlist based on icloud status = matched, then if there are files that can be downloaded, that playlist should show a cloud with a down arrow that you can click on and download everything in that playlist.  Another option is if you have both of the iCloud columns showing in your music category, you should be able to click on the one with the cloud icons to have it sort by those, select the ones with a down arrow and download them.  You should also be able to do a right click and select "download" but if you select all your music it may not show up if there are ineligible songs selected.

I can't download any rented movie. When I start downloading Windows iTunes crashes and Windows close this program. What should I do?

If the problem is iTunes slowing down and not appearing to run correctly, you should check  this Apple article out-> Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
You may want to try resetting Winsock as a temporary fix.
    1. To do so, please do the following in an administrator user:
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Right click All Programs and choose Accessories > Command Prompt. Choose to open as an administrator.
Windows XP: Click Start > Run and type in cmd.
    2. Enter the following command:
    netsh winsock reset
    3. Restart the computer and test the issue.
Note:  If the issue returns, third-party software may be reinserting the LSP.

  • Surely developers included a basic feature to resume a download after firefox crashes. How do I activate it?

Surely the developers put in the basic feature of resuming a download after firefox has crashed from being nonresponsive. Where do I find this feature?

Firefox should be able to resume an unfinished download, if the server that delivered the download supports resume. In the download window, right-click that partial file and see if the '''Resume''' menu item is available.

  • HT201272 How to resume download in iTunes iCloud with "error in Downloading.retry later"?

I clicked purchase all items in iTunes. When I go to the purchased music, the songs have "download error. retry later" in the iTunes iCloud? I tap on the arrow button and it will not resume download???? Any suggestions?

Apple is pretty much the only one who does not support other platforms and it will be their downfall in the future. I have bought a few hundred tracks (and one movie) from iTunes before the competition started to catch up. Their Cloud service just came into Finland but I've already moved on to others. I've also bought music from Spotify, Nokia Music and Xbox Music. I've been a subscriber of Nokia Music, Xbox Music and now Google Music. I'm also a Netflix subscriber and I have a local IPTV service that also provides movie rentals from various providers - and guess what, they also work on all platforms.
The reality is that today was the first time in a long long time that I've actually even bothered to open iTunes. Lack of platform support will destroy iTunes in the long run. Apple is starting to look like Microsoft once did. Today you can even get Office for almost every platform - even mobile devices.
Limited access and/or features is also one of the biggest reasons that turn people away from legit services. DRM protected music was the reason I had over 20,000 MP3s before it was removed from iTunes. When that happened I deleted all the old files and became a honest, paying customer.

i paused a download and switched off my system & when i resumed the download after 1 or 2 days it says c:\Documents and settings\ ....etc could not save the file and i had to restart the download from the beginning. So couldn't i resume the download after 2 or more days ? what may be the problem ? This happens for any type of file download . I'm using windows xp .

You may have cleanup software that has removed the file(s) from the temp folder.

  • Resume Download after sleep

    Hi,
When mbp is sent to sleep, safari stops all downloads but doesnt clear from list. When waking up, you click resume download but it starts downloading the file again right from the start despite the fact that it had already downloaded part of it before it was in sleep mode.
Is there any way to change this, other than using firefox which resumes downloads from the position it was last in before sleep mode.
    Thanks

  • ITunes Playlist Dissappeared after iTunes Crashed! Help!!!

    Hello,
I had a disaster occur a few hours ago and am struggling and hoping to get it back quickly.
First, I have 160GBs of Music (including movies, 90gbs of music) and possibly hundreds of playlist. My iTunes crashed while creating another playlist and when I brought iTunes back up, all of my playlist, preferences as well as library appeared to be deleted.
The song files are still located on my computer and I have no problem adding them back to my library, however, it is my PLAYLIST that I will have a lot of problems recreating.
Has this happened to anyone else before and how did you get your playlist back? The reason this is so critical is that I have tons of opera in my library that typically consist of 40+ tracks that tend to not be numbered sequentially. You can see the problem this creates when many of these files are in foreign languages and are not divided into track numbers (hey, Mozart didn't have to compile his music into 74 minute CDs).
Any help would be much appreciated. The last backup I have with the .xml file was created in the beginning of October and for some reason the latest Previous Version/Shadow Copy is several months old.
    Thanks again in advance!
    Nate

If your iTunes Music Library.xml file is intact it may be possible to recereate your library using the following method:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
    If that doesn't work...
Have you upgraded to iTunes 8 recently? If so you should have a backup library in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder, in the iTunes folder.
The files include the reversed date when they were created.
If you have a reasonably recent backup you want to use, with ITunes closed, drag iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml out of the iTunes folder to the desktop. Then COPY the backup library into your iTunes folder and rename it iTunes Library.itl.

  • ITunes wont resume music after pause

    Hey everyone,
since a few days I have the problem that when I pause music and try to resume it, iTunes wont play anything. It switches the "play" to the "pause" button but it don't play any music. After a long period of time iTunes suddenly starts my music (up to 15 min). This also happens when a song is over, and there are no more songs to play in the list/album/... , and I then try to play another one.
    Thanks for your help,
    Partik

Same problem.  Rebooted computer and problem solved.

  • Software update in itunes times out 420mb. Is there a way to resume downloading after connection time out?

    Hi,
While downloading an update for the iphone, my internet connection momentarily stops.
This interrupts the update download, which then needs to start from the beginning again.
Is there any way to enable the download to pick up from where it was interrupted?
Its a 420 mb update so it never finishes before the connection drops out.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    cheers

you cant resume it from the last position in itunes but could be paused and resumed, check out website,

  • Resume download after crash ?

Earlier today, I was downloading Xcode 2.3 (915mb), however I came away from my mac and later came back to a kernel panic, upon restarting I noted that the .download file was over 90% complete, however when I tried to open it to try and resume it won't continue.
I also tried to use wget to resume the download (against the .dmg file inside the .download package) however, wget isn't able to get the file.
As I have a download limit, I don't really want to download around 900mb again.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

My machine spec is as follows:
    PowerMac G4 (FW800) :
    Dual 1.25GHz PowerPC G4 (1MB L3 per chip)
    DDR-SDRAM PC2700 - 2GB (4x512MB)
    700GB Storage (80Gb, 120Gb, 2x250GB RAID)
    Toshiba Combodrive (DVD/CD-RW)
    Pioneer DVDR-108 (Dual Layer DVD-RW/CD-RW)
    24" Dell 2405FPW (Active Matrix LCD - 1920x1600)
    ATI Radeon 9800Pro AGP - 128mb
    Apple Pro Keyboard
    Apple Mighty Mouse
    Apple Pro Speakers
    Gigabit ethernet
    Belkin F5220 5-Port USB 2.0 PCI Card
    Belkin 802.11G PCI Card
    SiteCom USB BlueTooth Dongle
I'm currently using an 8mb DSL line, the problem isn't the speed (even though I got nowhere near top speed downloading XCode) it's the fact my ISP, imposes a monthly download limit.
I've downloaded the file again since, but would still like a resolution/method of resuming broken downloads in Safari.

  • How do I restart iOS download after internet crashes without having to start from the beginning.

My internet crashes and stops downloading the iOS restore software for my phone.  When I try to restart the download, it starts from the beginning.  How can I get it to cary on from where it left off?  Why doesn't it do this automatically!?
    Thanks.

If you've already unsuccessfully tried to resume the download then the previously partial download may no longer be present on you computer.<br />
What you can do in such a case is:
    * Move the old .part partial download and the 0 byte final file without the .part to another location.<br />
    * Start a new download and pause it, don't close Firefox.<br />
    * Copy the two files (.part and 0 byte final) that you moved above back to the download location to replace the new files that were created.<br />
    * Resume the download in Firefox.
