FIlming Videos With Photo Booth

Quick question. I filmed a little video, around 4 minutes on Photo Booth, and uploaded it to Facebook, but after around 15 seconds, the video stopped, but the audio kept going, and when I tried looking it up on my computer, the video was only 15 seconds. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Ethan

I have been using QT Pro for years now. It is the best $30 AV app I know (if you want to buy software.) However, if your iMac was new in Nov 08, it came with everything you really need.
Launch your iMovie and look in iMovie > About iMovie for your version number.
If you have iMovie 7.x.x (Apple sometimes calls this "iMovie '08 "), you may also have iMovie 6 HD in your Finder > Go > Applications > iMovie (previous version) folder. If iMovie HD is not in there, you can download the iMovie 6 HD (v 6.0.4) that works with your iLife '08 from this link.
By the way, iMovie 6.0.4 does NOT work unless iLife '08 is installed.
Mac users whose Macs came with iLife/iMovie '06 and iMovie HD 6.x should use
the iMovie HD 6.0.3 update for the original iMovie 6 HD.
If you do not have iLife '08 and need other suggestions, post back telling us which specific iMac you have and which iLife version you use.
We may be able to offer specific suggestions based on the details in your response.

P.S. I understood your "beauty spot" meaning. If you do not have ANY iMovie, we can give other suggestions, but if you have an iMovie that works with your iSight, it will NOT mirror image your video clip without intervention by you.

  • Will the option to take video with photo booth become available for ipad2? why would they not include it :(

  • Problems Recording Video with Photo Booth

    Macbook Details:
    OS X Yosemite
    Version 10.10.2
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011)
Processor 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    Photo Booth: Version 7.0 (724)
Some background: It all started going downhill for my laptop when I got a "Service Battery" warning back in December. Thought it could possibly be a glitch from the new OS. In any case, they told me to wait it out till the Full Charge Capacity reaches the 2000s. It's currently at around 4225 and slowly steadily decreasing. I can't keep many applications open at one given time.
The problem: Built-in camera is working fine with Skype, FaceTime, etc. Photo Booth pictures are fine as well. Simply unable to record any video with PB. It will sometimes record, but during recording, the image freezes. Upon playback, the image is frozen for the entire video, and audio lags or skips around. Today it froze and actually sat frozen all day while I continued to use other applications.
Is there anything I can do??

You can't record video with PhotoBooth, you can record video with iMovie, or you can record with Quicktime if you have the Pro version. I would suggest using iMovie, create an MPEG-4 project, record your footage, drag your recorded clips into the timeline, then choose the Share menu and choose Email.
Baby footage will be on its way to the grandparents in no time!

  • No video with photo booth recording

while using the waterfall or beach scene, After approx. the 4th movie that I record, the video and audio begin to get out of sync and maybe 2-3 more video later, I start getting video with nothing on it. Sometimes the video began freezing up. I usually quit PB and restart, getting 2-3 good short movie about 20-30 secs long, before the problem re-occurs. C
    Any suggestion?
    Austin

    Hello Austin.
How do you know when it saved?
Another of Photo Booth's limitations. I do not see anything in Photo Booth that guarantees when a save is complete.
You may be able to hear when your hard disk stops writing. If you cannot hear it, just don't be in a hurry. Wait until the movie clip Thumbnails has finished settling into the tray at the bottom of the Photo Booth window. Then give it about five more seconds to allow the disk write to finish before starting the next recording.
If waiting five extra seconds does not help, try an additional ten seconds to see if a longer wait improves things for you.
Can imovie use the background drop?
No. The "background drop" is a feature of Photo Booth. That feature is actually a "recipe" for a video technique called "compositing" or "chroma key."
iMovie 6 HD can produce composites by using blue and green screen effects and the appropriate third-party plugins to edit video clips after the video clips have been captured.  I do not know a way to do this with iMovie 7.x (sometimes called iMovie '08).
A Google search for iMovie blue and green screen effects will lead you to this tutorial and many other sources that you may find helpful.
If you already have Apple's Final Cut Express or Final Cut Studio, the chroma key feature is built into both of them.

  • Video with Photo booth ?

Is there a way to set up the camera on my MacBook Pro so it will record continous video ?
I am going to a friends place tomorrow and she wants to shoot a little video of her new baby. We don't have a video camera but was just wondering if there are any applications we can use to shoot and record continuous video which could then be compressed and sent via e-mail to the grandparents ?

You can't record video with PhotoBooth, you can record video with iMovie, or you can record with Quicktime if you have the Pro version. I would suggest using iMovie, create an MPEG-4 project, record your footage, drag your recorded clips into the timeline, then choose the Share menu and choose Email.

  • How do you trim videos in Photo Booth on the OS X Mavericks?

I recently updated to the new OS X Mavericks. I don't know how to trim videos on Photo Booth though. Before I updated, there was a "trim" button on the bottom right side of the video that was playing, but I'm not sure where it is now. Is it even possible to trim videos anymore? Thank you

After you take your video and it appears on that little strip at the bottom, click and drag the video you want to trim onto your desktop. Then right click and choose Open With > Quicktime Player.app (It should be default.)
Then when it's open, press Command-T on your keyboard or go to the Edit menu and click Trim...
Then drag the little yellow handles to where you want to trim it to and hit the Trim button.
Then press Command-S to save it, or click the little share/export on the player controls to send it to Facebook or whatever you choose.
    Hope this helps,
    xeni

  • Isight works with photo booth but not in ichat or google talk or skype?

isight works with photo booth but not in ichat or google talk or skype?

    Hi
Is this an Internal or External iSight ?
In iChat, in the Video Menu (This is to the right of Buddies and may read Audio) is Camera Enabled Ticked ?
If it reads Audio open the Connection Doctor from that same menu.
In the connection Doctor open the Capabilities tab
Does it say your Internet Connection is too slow ?
At this point I would need to know which iChat Version.
However also look in the View Menu.
Is Show VIdeo Status ticked ?  (this shows green Icons next to your Buddy Pic and those of your Buddies
Next go to the iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section
Do you see a preview here ?
    Re: GoogleTalk
Have you enabled TALK on your Google Account Settings ?
You need to have a Google Mail ID (Not any other sort of Google ID)
Have you downloaded the Intel only Web Browser Plug-in to do Video in a  Web Browser.

  • Uploading a Video from Photo Booth

I made a video on Photo Booth but I am having trouble sharing it. I moved it to my desktop and sent it through a message on Facebook, and they were not able to watch it. I also tried to upload it to youtube and share it but youtube couldn't process it. I finally tried to upload it to google drive but it won't open on there either. Help!

    Hello marwa_s2070,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To export your video from Photo Booth in order to share with other programs please follow the steps in the article below.

  • Make a Video using Photo Booth?

I once made a video using photo booth and the built in isight camera. However, today I opened photo booth and cannot figure out how to switch it to video mode. It just takes pictures. I believe there use to be a switch on the interface to change it to video mode but I can't seem to find it anyway.
How do I do this? Did they update photo booth and remove that feature?
I want to use photo booth to shoot my quick online reviews and not imovie.

    Hello Derek
dolbinau is right! You need Leopard to use Photo Booth 2.
If you want to keep Tiger and still record video with "effects", take a look at WebcamTweaker

  • Use Canon Powershot G6 with Photo Booth?

I have a brand new Mac Pro running OS 10.5.7 with photo booth, but no isight camera. I'd like to use my Canon Powershot G6 with Photo Booth, but when I plug in my camera, via USB cable, and launch Photo Booth, there is just a blank picture window.
I'd be very grateful for any suggestions of how to make this work (if possible) or where I might look for a solution.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,
In Many apps that can access cameras it is about the resolution the software that the app restricts the camera to, rather than the abilities of the camera.
You may find that some cameras such as those that connect by Firewire may produce a more pleasing picture rather than being at a different resolution.
There is not much difference in External USB cameras over the Internal one on those Macs that have Internal iSights.
iGlasses is cheap and works for a7 day trial before you have to commit yourself and can access some features and tweak the video from Web cams in various Apps

  • Help with Photo booth

IS there a way that I can turn off the flash that happens when i take pictures with photo booth?
I was also wondering if the camera records video?
    Thank you!

    Hello Sarah CMac
To disable Photo Booth flash, hold shift while you click.
BTW, holding option disables the seconds countdown. You can use both at once if desired.
Photo Booth 2 that comes with Leopard adds video recording with "effects" and sound. If you do not want to upgrade to Leopard, you can use WebcamTweaker for "effects" videos or any of the apps that can record video or movie clips from this list of Some Applications You Can Use With iSight for video without Photo Booth's "effects."

  • IPhoto Crashes with Photo Booth Share

Brand new iMac (less than 2 weeks old) running Lion.
My daughter is having lots of fun with Photo Booth, but whenever we try to "share" (add to iPhoto), iPhoto opens and then promptly crashes.
After that, whenever we try to open iPhoto directly, it says there's a photo that needs to be imported.  Regardless of whether I say yes or no to importing the image, iPhoto crashes.
After each crash, a new recovered file folder appears in my pictures directory.
I did figure out how to get iPhoto to work again by finding and removing the Photo Booth file that is trying to be imported.  But I was hoping someone could give me a heads up as to why brand new software on a brand new computer isn't working and whether there is a fix.
    Thanks.

The fact that a computer is "brand new" doesn't make a whit of difference. Software doesn't suffer from wear and tear and problems are as likely on the first day you use it as they are on the last.
As to the fix... you say you did fix the problem and can get iPhoto to work, didn't you?

  • No camera with photo booth

iSight Camera works on ichat and imovie but not with photo booth. It also won't work with replacement software for photo booth.
    Any ideas?

    Hello, BuffaloSky
Quit all running applications. Then, if you have not done so recently, and especially after any recent software updates or installs, repair permissions. Now try Photo Booth again.
If you still have the problem after repairing permissions, try all suggestions relevant to your system from How to Troubleshoot iSight.
If Photo Booth still does not work in any user account, it is possible that a corrupted Photo Booth Preferences file is causing your problem. Quit Photo Booth (and all other applications) and throw away the Photo Booth Preferences file (com.apple.photobooth.plist) from your Home / Library / Preferences folder. A new preferences (.plist) file will be generated when you restart Photo Booth to test whether it works now.

  • How do you record video in photo booth?

an apple genius was able to record video in photo booth - now i don't see any way to do this...
    does anyone know?

In the bottom-left corner of the Photo Booth window, just above the slides where it shows all your recent pictures, there are three buttons.
The first is to take a single picture.
The second will take a sequence of four pictures.
The third will record movies from your iSight camera!

  • Which cameras are compatible with Photo Booth?

Sorry if this is posted on the wrong forum but i couldn't find the Photo Booth forum.
