Films rented on my computer won't always play on my iPad.

I have a MacBook Pro, and I always use the computer to download films.  I keep my software for my computer and my iPad bang up to date.  I rented 6 films to watch on my flights to and from the US, sync'd the iPad and transferred the films from the computer to the iPad.  I verified they were there by opening each of them to the info page. On the flight out, I watched 3 of the films.  On the way back (not having even tried to watch any films in the interim), none of the rented films would open.  I couldn't even get to the info page.
Help!  This is not the first time this has happened, and I am getting really frustrated over this.  It always seems just when I really really want to watch a film I have rented, it happens: either it has disappeared completely or it won't open. iTunes support has always been great about giving me a refund or a redownload but they have no suggestions as to how to prevent it from happening over and over again.  Getting a refund or ability to redownload is fine after the fact, but I really want to prevent the problem from happening at all.
Additional information that may help: it doesn't happen with purchased films, only rental films.  I have two iTunes accounts, one based in the UK and one based in the US.  The majority of the films (and all those I did watch) were purchased from the UK account.  One film (unwatched) was purchased from the US account.
Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

Great, now I've lost even more content and I have no idea how to get it back onto my laptop. This is getting ridiculous. I need answers on how to remedy this now!

  • On my iPhone 5 the YouTube app won't always play videos in hd

Whenever I go into my google YouTube application and I try to play back a video that I know is capable of being viewed in hd,my app won't always play it in that quality. I just wanna know if its just the app or something else. I normally am on wifi, my battery level is good, and I've looked for any settings but found nothing.

there's no HD mode in the iphone youtube app..that's why i rated one star to them

  • Downloaded a film from iTunes but why won't it play

  • Why do rented movies lock up and fail to play using IPAD 1

Why do rented movies lock up and fail to play?  Using IPAD 1 with latest software.

I guess it could be for a number of different reasons but it may help if you close open/recent apps in the task bar before you try to play your movies. No guarantees - but it can't hurt either.
Make sure you are on your home screen before you close the apps - that will ensure that you are closing the video app as well. Double tap the home button to bring up the task bar. Tap and hold down on any app icon in the task bar until it wiggles. Then tap the minus signs in the corner of the app icons to close them all. Then restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut down. To power up, hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears. Try the rental again.
This "generic cure-all" may help as well. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider. Try the video again.

  • HT1338 What's going on with iCloud (MobileMe)?  I'm able to sign in here, but I can't access mail on my Macbook Pro, iPhone, or work computer.  I always get an authorization error (user-id or passwork wrong).  This has been going on for almost a week now.

The single download means that you won't be able to redownload it from the store without paying, either on a computer's iTunes or an iOS device - it doesn't stop you from copying the audiobook to your other computers or syncing it to your iOS devices, you just can't redownload it. (I believe that they are all supplied to Apple by audible.com, so I assume that it's them requiring the one-time download.)
You can download audiobooks on your computer's iTunes and sync them to iOS devices, you do not have to buy them directly on the device (if you do then you can copy them back to your computer's iTunes library by connecting the device and using the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option on your computer's iTunes).
What you are doing to sync them should work i.e.
    - connecting the iPad to your Mac
    - selecting the iPad on your Mac's iTunes
    - selecting its Books tab and selecting the audiobooks that you want to sync to the iPad and syncing/applying that selection.
You should then get an audiobooks option in the Music app on your iPad. If they aren't appearing there  then do they show in Settings > General > Usage > Music on the device - if you have audiobooks on the iPad then they should be listed there under an 'audiobooks' heading.
By 'restart the iPad' do you mean a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
You could also try closing its Music app via the iPad's taskbar : Force an app to close in iOS.
And do a soft-reset and retry syncing.
I assume that music and other items sync ok ?

  • Storage space full of "other", computer won't recognize iPod is plugged in

I just downloaded about 100 songs onto my 160 gigabyte iPod Video Classic, making my number of songs only about 1,300. My iPod says its storage now only has 1.9 mb left. I only have about 10 videos and no photos, but the "other" section of the storage content bar takes up a ton of space. It had none before. How do I remove the "other" from my iPod? Now my computer won't recognize any iPod when I plug it in, and I've tried multiple plugs.

Connect the iPod to a USB2.0  port, on the Computer itself and not a USB hub or those found on the Apple keyboard.
If iTunes launch, close it back.
If your iPod is found on your Desktop, then run DiskUtility, (if not then Reset the iPod while connected to the Mac)
    Select you iPod
Click FirstAid Tab on the right window.
    Press the Repair button.
After Repair finish, iTunes may launch and ask to Restore, this will delete all the data in your iPod.
if iTunes did not launch, just Reset iPod again while connected to your Mac.
Always don't use USB hub or the Keyboard USB port or else your problem will come back, as the power is insufficient from these shared ports for iPod harddisk write process.
    Good Luck!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    I suggest this thread:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over (with some more drastic optional measures, which you may need), and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
    Good luck!

Yes, uninstalling is not the same as deactivating. Call support to reset activations.

  • Hi my mid 2012 MacBook air simply refuses to start. My charger is working which is a good sign but even in safe mode my computer won't boot up! I recently installed a product called WhatSizeMac.

As said above I just installed what size Mac and now my computer won't start. As soon as I downloaded it my computer was a little glitch but regarded it as nothing. my computer was later really buggy so I decided to restart it. My computer now will not restart/turn on no matter if it is in safe mode or not. In safe mode it gets around a third of the way and then the progress bar disappeared then the gear remains for a second then the screen goes black then that is it. By the way I have OS X Maverick's .1 or.2, maybe .3 but I doubt it. PS if you can tell me a legit application that will declutter all this space I seemed to have used, yet have no idea HOW! Thanks.

You need iTunes on the computer. There is no iTunes for your phone. See:

    1. iOS- Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

  • I deleted the SystemConfiguration folder on OSX Yosemite and now my computer won't reboot.

I need some help. My WiFi connection kept disconnecting all the time so I looked on here and saw that you could fix the problem by following these steps
Navigate to /Library/Preferences using either method:
    Terminal: open -a Finder /Library/Preferences
Finder: Open New Finder Window -> "Go" -> "Go To Folder ..." -> [ Type In: /Library/Preferences ]
Backup the folder "SystemConfiguration" by copying it to your Desktop.
Delete the folder as it sits in /Library/Preferences.
    Done.
I didn't back up my SystemConfiguration folder and now my computer won't start up again. It gets frozen halfway on the reboot screen.
I don't know what to do. Please help.

    Hello Tian10an,
Do you have TimeMachine backup? If so you could try to recover(⌘+R) to the last available one.
Unfortunately other than that the only option for you seems to be reinstalling the OS.

If it's in recovery mode, the data is already gone. Why did you never back up your important data?
