Filmstrip Moves After Filtering Using Keywords

I used the Metadata filter to select photos. In my example, I had 33 pics with the Keyword "Unknown". The 33 pics appear on the filmstrip but the filmstrip slides all the way to the right. So, for example, I want to click on the first pic to the left and I have to slide the filmstrip and click on it, but then the filmstrip moves all the way to the right again. If I want to select multiple pics it is a pain to keep having to slide the filmstrip. This is REALLY annoying. I'm using LR 2.2 on a WIN PC. Is there some way to stop the filmstip from moving on its own? Thx.

    The URL to execute the export is as follows:

    After getting the GUID, you  need to “decode” the list GUID.

  • QT 7.1.2 not playing any QT movies after "Cleaning" using OnyX 1.5.3

    I had this problems a few months ago, but did not associate it with having "cleaned" my user caches with OnyX. I needed to redo my Powerbook G4 with two partioned drives - one with Panther installed and one with Tiger installed - for some upcoming work flow testing at work. After performing the new install of Panther on the new partition, the Quicktime problems went away. That is until I ran OnyX yesterday and cleaned out my User caches. Now no movies are playing again. I suspect that OnyX may be removing some critical files needed by QT 7.1.2. In lew of reinstalling the OS again, I would prefer to just reinstall QT, but can find no Apple provided uninstaller or documentation on a manual removal process. I had tried to delete all QT components including all Receipts manually before, but there were remnant files remaining that prevented installation of the earlier version of QT7.
    I was hoping someone here could provide instructions on how to completely uninstall QT 7.1.2.

    As Apple has yet to release a reinstaller, and if you really don't want to archive and install, you can use a shareware app like Pacifist - but it can be tricky. There are several threads in the forum that describe the process.

    I tried 202 movement with MB1A, but get the error as "Document is incomplete: You cannot save the delivery".
    Can you tell me how I can cancel this movement which has HU involved.

  • After last Moutain Lion update, suddenly and sporadically I cannot move my files using my mouse.  I only get a "ghost" image.  Moving items to the trash is, of course no problem.  Does anyone have a solution?  I've updated my permissions...no go!

    Cannot move icon files using my mouse or cursor after installing Mountion Lion's last update.  After rebooting several times, this sometimes fixes the problem.  I've tried checking and updating my permissions, but this hasn't worked.  What's happening?  I haven't backed up so I can't go back to Lion.  Has this happened to anyone else?  What can I try?  Thanks!

    Try this:
    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Now download and install OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.3 (Combo).

    Hello Experts,
    I am using BO XI r2.  I am trying to create a filter using only keywords, not an actual string.
    For example I have these values(strings) being displayed in my list
    main 6"
    main 5.3"
    submain 4"
    Submain 9"
    Feeder in
    Feeder out
    Lateral 2"
    lateral 7"
    What I want is to be able to filter out all values like main, submain,etc... without having to specify the size(i.e. 6" or 4")

    There are a couple of ways you can create a filter. The "fast" way is to click on a column, click the filter button (looks like a yellow funnel), and pick from a list of values. Clearly that doesn't work for what you're trying to do here. The other option is to display the filter pane on your report. There is a button on the toolbar (far left) that looks like a box with a smaller yellow funnel on it. This will allow you to create more complex filters, using logic much like you can use on the query panel.
    Drag your object over to the filter pane and enter your filter expression. Click OK and you're done.
    Except that the filter expression window does not allow you to use wildcards.
    So the next step is to separate the filter logic from the filter expression builder. You can build a variable that looks like this:
    =If(Match([String];"Main*");1;0)
    The Match() function allows you to use wildcards, so the above should match everything that starts with Main. Then your filter is based on this variable instead of the original string value. The expression becomes "Filter Variable Equal to 1" and you're nearly there. That last part is educating the user as to how to edit the filter. You could get creative with a prompt to fill in the string part, but I have no idea based on your post if that's even needed.

    You can consider to access the tabs via the list all tabs button.
    You see the "List All Tabs" button in current Firefox versions if there are that many tabs open that you get the Tab bar scroll buttons appearing.

  • Filtering by Keyword

    Using LR2.3, XP
    This suggestion comes out of a recent thread in the help forums about filtering for multiple keywords. As respondents pointed out in the thread, there are, in LR2, easy ways to do this, including making Smart Collections with multiple keywords, or using the Library Filter bar in Library module. Also, users can filter photos by only one keyword by hovering over the right side of a keyword in the Keywording section of the right-hand column of Library module to make a clickable arrow appear.
    But my strong feeling is that all of these ways are not apparent or intuitive to new or inexperienced LR users. Clicking on a keyword in Keywording, if one is not hovering over the invisible arrow, doesn't filter. On more than one occasion, I've had to search out filtering by keyword in Help files because I couldn't see or remember an obvious way of filtering my collection by keywords in Library module.
    That's a problem. It should be as easy in Library module to filter by keywords as it is to enter them. If it isn't as easy, some LR users will never see the benefit of applying keywords and won't start or will give up applying keywords to their photos, which would be a shame. Keyword tags are a key competitive feature advantage of Lightroom, and Lightroom should make it easy to filter LR folders by keywords.
    Here's one way to make it more obvious. Keep keywords in Smart Collections. Keep the Library Filter bar. Change the right-hand column in Library, the most obvious place to search for a way to filter, assuming the Library Filter bar is turned off, from Keywording to separate sections for Enter Keywords, and for Filter By Keywords. Enter Keywords can work pretty much as the Keywording section now works. But remove the arrows from the right side of the keywords listed in the Keywording section, so that that area is just devoted to entering keywords. Make a new Filter By Keywords section below Enter Keywords. In it, there's an arrow-driven window, which can be selected to Include or Exclude a keyword. There's another window which allows the user to select the Keyword he wants to filter by in that row. And then there's a + key to add another row to this area and a - key to remove this row. And then a Go button below the row to run the completed filter search, which pops all the photos in the selected folder in Library module that match the keyword filter terms.

    Thanks. Yeah, I don't have PE so I haven't seen how they do it there, but Adobe may be able to just apply the same PE solution to LR, if it would fit in that Keywording column on the right side of Library module.
    Actually, the idea of the + button is to add an additional keyword filter, which can make the global filter an AND search for multiple keywords. You click on +, under my proposal, to create an additional row which you then choose a keyword for. Adobe could use a - button to take away the row (or filter) there you previously created, and try the GO again.
    I agree that the Library Filter bar can get a little cluttered and hard to read and use. I think the easiest way to filter by more than one keyword in LR2 is to create a smart collection. Try it; I bet it's as effective as what you're used to in Photoshop Elements. (The only reason I'm asking for a different way to filter by keyword is not that smart collections don't work but that it's easy for new Lightroom users to overlook that they can use smart collections to filter by keyword, and not be able to easily find a way to otherwise do it.) Smart collections (or any collections) don't have to be a long-term investment for your time and trouble. You can create one just for a minute just to track down some photos you're looking for, and then easily remove the collection (which still leaves the photos in your Library).
    To use a Smart Collection to filter by keywords, in Library module, scroll down the left-side Navigator column to Collections, at the bottom. Click the + sign to the right of Collections and choose Create Smart Collection. Give it a unique name like "Cucamonga" and then set the third window in there to Keywords, and choose Keyword Cucamonga. Just kidding. Mel Blanc fan here. Obviously, give it a name and choose keywords that fit your collection. Smart Collections uses the + button to create additional filters, as I suggest above. And as you can see exploring the other options there, you have ways of creating AND, OR, and NOT type searches, and can do these things with multiple keywords after you click the + button there. When you hit OK where you create your smart collection, all the photos that match your filter(s) appear instantly in the filmstrip. To re-run your search with additional filters, right-click your smart collection in the left-hand Navigator column of Libary module, and choose Edit Smart Collection... When you're done playing around, right-click your smart collection back in the Navigator column of Library module, and Remove it; all photos in the collection remain in your Library. Now you just have to remember that you can use this approach to filter by keywords when you need it.

  • AE CS5 - Shape Layer - Anchor point moves after position keyframe

    I am experiencing unintuitive (to me) behaviour with a brand new shape layer. Here are the steps to reproduce the issue. I have made a screen cap of the problem but can't figure out how to upload it to this forum.
    1. In an existing composition, I create a new Shape Layer
    2. By default the anchor point (center point) is in the dead center of the shape layer. Perfect.
    3. I turn on Position keyframing, and add a position keyframe at my current time
    4. Instantly the anchor point now jumps to the center of the composition, and so now when I scale my shape layer it doesn't scale properly
    If I try to use the Pan Behind tool, I get position keyframing. Besides, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DO THIS, since the anchor point was in the correct spot to start with, and it's only because of this keyframing "bug" that the anchor point jumps.
    What am I missing or doing wrong? How can I add a position keyframe to a BRAND NEW LAYER that has no other animation on it, and still keep the anchor point in the dead center of my shape?

    Thanks to Rick and Mylenium for your helpful answers. Rick, I'd prefer not to have to manually reposition, because I'm never going to be as mathematically precise as the software for positioning the Anchor Point dead center.

    In my defense as far as the constant exhortations to "RTFM", we all know that most veteran software users only go to the manual when there's a problem. You also know that Adobe's help system (particluarly in regards to search) has gotten worse over the years, not better. So when I run into a situation like this, I'm going to search through the help for what I believe the problem is: namely "anchor points", "transformations" and "keyframes", and maybe "shape layers". This is a fair amount of research, and it's exactly what I do as my first line of defense.
    The second line of defense that most tech savvy folk do, is a Google search; for example: "anchor point moves after position keyframe" or "After Effects shapes layer anchor point moves keyframe" etc. And you spend your time sifting through forums trying to find the relevant answers. I feel that THAT is my true due diligence, rather than reading the F'n Adobe manual that is so very very sparse.
    So after my due diligence, I turn to the experts communities, because there I know I will get educated, reliable help within a reasonable turnaround time. And because I myself contribute to these same forums in areas where I have higher than average expertise. The Adobe Forums have proven to be one of the great online resources.
    Finally, now that I have a great answer from two knowledgeable experts (thanks again!), I've also enriched the community, because of the way I have crafted my post title, hopefully the next poor ******* who has a similar problem and a similar methodology to finding resolution will stubmle upon my post because I've tried to overload the title with relevant keywords that will generate hits in google.
    Through my question, and your accurate answers, the global knowledgebase has improved.
    So forgive me for not memorizing the F'n Adobe online help. I go to the resources that are the most useful, expedient, and provide the greatest value as a whole.

  • How do you use Keywords?

    I'm curious how you use Keywords. I started to go into my pictures today and add them. I went first to the first Event I had and looked for any pictures of my kids. I was going to make my Keywords pretty broad. If they were aged 0 - 5, then that was my Keyword. But, then I had a picture of a brother and a sister, where the brother was 8 and the sister was 4. What to do? Then I changed it from 0-5 to 0-10. I've tagged about 300 of them that way, but now I'm wondering if it's worth the time. I know I can also use multiple Keywords, but that just seems to be a lot of work.
    For reference, I name all my pictures when I input them. I use the following format: name of person - event (if pertinent) - town - year, so that might come out as Chip - Halloween - Golden - '08. That way, I find it pretty easy to find whatever I might be looking for.
    Do you use Keywords? If so, how?

    The BEST system of keywording is the system you will actually execute. So your priority should be figuring out what you are willing and happy to do on a fairly regular basis.
    Since it already sounds like your system is a hassle, I don't know that your keyword needs to reflect the age---you can easily search on KW: Kids and Date Range: (whatever the young years would be) after the fact, and save yourself trouble while tagging. Or set that up as a Smart Album, and then once you've done the "okay when the kid was 0-4 that would be the dates 1990-1994", you don't need to do it again.
    Certainly, though, you should be open to multiple keywords on the same photo--that's the power of keywords, to categorize the same photo in multiple aspects.
    I don't bother naming my photos, but unlike TD, I create a lot of smaller events and name them pretty carefully, similar to your photo names. I use keywords for recurring themes, like Me, Family, Friends, Rivers, Flowers, or places I visit multiple times. Things with a beginning and ending, I lean on the event name to track, eg "Christmas Eve, Christmas--Opening Gifts, Christmas--Dinner, Christmas--Hanging Out".
    I find it very important to use the shortcuts, so that I can skim through 300 pix from a national park and just hit f to apply the Family keyword, m to apply the Me keyword, w for pictures of water, l for pictures of flowers, etc. (The keyword pane must be open to use the shortcuts)
    I tend to set up a smart album based on a keyword about the same time I set up a keyword, so that the list of smart albums helps me remember what I am doing with keywords. Also, thinking in terms of which albums you want to be browsing helps figure out how you need to keyword the photos--when your relatives or friends come over, what do you want to show them?

    PS - have found other posts indicating that clips smaller than 2s or sometimes 5s, or "short files" can cause this. Modern style editing often uses short takes ! Good grief I cannot believe Apple. Well I deleted a half a dozen short sections and can export, but now of course the video is a ruined piiece of junk and I need to re-do the whole thing, the sound etc. which is basically taking as much time as the original. And each time I re-do it I risk again this lovely error -50 and again trying to figure out what thing bugs it via trial and error instead of a REASONABLE ERROR MESSAGE POINTING TO THE CLIP IT CAN'T PROCESS. What a mess. I HATE this iMovie application - full of BUGS BUGS BUGS which Apple will not fix obviously, since I had this product for a few years and see just hundreds of hits on Google about this error with disappointed users. Such junk I cannot believe I paid money for it and Apple does not support it with fixes !!!
    If anyone knows of a GOOD reasonably priced video editing program NOT from APPLE I am still looking for suggestions. I want to do more video in future, but obviously NOT with iMovie !!!

  • Copy/paste after filtering

    After filtering, has anyone found a way to copy/paste only the data that is visible? I have seen this feature on a wish list, so I suspect the answer is no. Would love to be wrong.

    I figured out a fast easy way to do this with zillions of rows...
    1) Create a single sheet.
    2) Create a single table with a single column. (I didn't use header or footers.)
    3) Fill the single column will your data (I imported a CSV with 500 rows.)
    4) Apply your filter. (I was left with 128 rows of data after the filter.)
    5) Export the sheet to PDF (I just created a tmp.pdf file on my desktop using file->export)
    6) Open the pdf (You'll notice only your filtered data is in the PDF -YEY!- )
    7) Select the contents of the column in the pdf file.
    8) Paste it into a new table in numbers.
    The whole process takes about 30 seconds. But it is MUCH better than control-clicking each row 1 by 1.
    Hope this help others! Hope apple makes this better. (Yes, I sent feedback!)
    Random thought:
    Numbers is the ONLY spreadsheet app I don't mind using. It is amazingly intuitive for someone like me who hates spread sheets.
    Completing work with it is just so easy to do and easy to make look good! It is hard not to get excited about something that is normally SSSSSOOOOOO boring!

    We have stock movements all the days of the week.
    We conduct physical inventories on Sunday mornings. There are not stock movements on Sunday mornings (stock movements on Sunday starts at night).
    Usually we create the SAP Physical Inventory Document on Fridays, assigning Saturday as the Planned Count Date.
    We enter the SAP Physical Inventory Count on Sunday (at the end of the count) or on Monday.
    How you recommend us to use SAPu2019s Physical Inventory feature in order to calculate the Book Inventory considering all stock movements with posting date less than or equal to Saturday?
    Please, suggest us a solution that If we register a movement after we enter the count but with post date before the count date (and the count is not posted yet), the Book inventory is modified accordingly.

    SAP takes the book inventory in the moment you enter the count.
    Best you set  block movements , this block will be removed automatically when you enter the count. So you can prevent users from posting until you have entered the count.
    If you set the freeze book inventory, then SAP takes the book inventory in the moment you create the document.
    This is not a good way if you still have movements after inventory document creation and actual count.
    You have to make sure - organisational  wise, outside SAP - that all movements that happened before inventory count  are posted before you start entering the count. There is nothing in SAP that can help you in this case.

    Is there a way to load a movie file created using FlattenMovie() function ? I tried with NewMovieFromFile() , everything went well but the movie video track somehow had been corrupted.
    The thing is I could nicely convert the original Movie data structure using an export component. But the one I recreated after saving disk did not converted well ( It produced only sound ). Plz help I seached all over the documents to unerstand 'How to use flattened files' but could not.
