Filter By functionnality custom search

Hi,
I'm working with portal 10gr3. For my development I'm interested on the filter by functionnality of the custom search.
This functionnality uses a popup window based on hidden attribute of the frame but I don't really understand how the close of this popup refresh the display (update the original list with the new one).
Does anybody develop something similar ?

Default multiple values in custom search help

Hi All,
I created a custom search help for the vendor. The fields in the search help are LIFNR (Vendor) and KTOKK (Account Group).
I would like to be able to set three default values for the account group. That is, when the user clicks on the dropdown to display the search help, I would like to have three values populated in the KTOKK field. Is this possible?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I am not sure abt default values, but if you are using this search help in any report than you can set hot keys in your search help and using hot keys, you can set some default filter values in you report's parameter.
you can set variant in your report where parameter is having values like :: =,<hotkey>,<sel1>,<sel2>
here <hotkey> : wht you have assingned in search help.
<sel1> : one of those default values you want to display.
<sel2> : one of those default values you want to display for the second field.

Problems with custom search form in adf

I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.4. please can you help with this issue?
I've created a custom search form with the help from this link.

I've created two bind variables SkuBind & ImperfectBind and a View Criteria.
My problem is when I press Search button, it does not filter based on values of the bind variables in the View Criteria.
I rightly get bind variable values in the System output though

Not clear what part of the code doesn't work. Assuming that you did check that the code you wrote executed
the problem may be the following.
You need to add partial trigger on the destination component.
Add ...
oddShoeVo.executeQuery();
AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(HERE_THE_BIND_NAME_OF_YOUR_TABLE);
Also I don't see that you acctually use View Criteria. There are specific way to apply View Criteria programatically and I don't see that you use it.
The simpliest way is just to change the VO query to embed bind variables into the query
E.G.

where some_column= :P_PARAM1

SharePoint 2013 custom search Result Type for "Documents" not showing up as option

I'm trying to create a custom search Result Type called "Documents" that will filter to MS Office filetypes and PDF's.
However, when I perform a search, although many of these types of files show up in the results, I don't have "Documents" as a Result Type option.
Here are the steps I'm following:
From my Enterprise Search Center subsite: Site Settings > Manage Result Types.
New Result Type.
Name: Documents
Source: Documents (System) - this out-of-the-box Result Source appears to cover the filetypes I need.
Types of content: I've tried leaving it blank (to match all content) and specifically picking the types I want.
What should these results look like? Office Document Item.
Check Optimize for frequent use.
Save.
I then go back to my search center and search for a common keyword. Many in-scope file show up in the search results. However, under Result Type, I don't see "Documents," even if I click "SHOW MORE."
Please advise.

@Mikael As you say, to display the exact results when we click a result source, we should implement logic code to check whether item should be displayed. I have followed steps nearly the same as the topic owner but I saw nothing different between Everything
and my custom Result Type.
Here are the steps I'm following:
Create a custom result type, named Job, and specify a custom display template for it.
Set its condition to filter list items that have JobName site column ( JobName is site column's managed property) equal of any "IT" or "Doctor".
I search for "Perter", it returns 5 items with Everything. I expect that it should return 3 items since only those items contain JobName site column.
Search is fun but rather headache sometimes, give me advise please :)

CL_BSP_WD_REFERENCE_TOOL Custom Search Help

Hi,
I tried to implement custom search help exactly as the guide "How-To Guide: Implement Value Helps in GenIL Components" instructed but I am facing a problem.
I am using CL_BSP_WD_REFERENCE_TOOL to store a reference of the context node class to be used in the search help class to get filter data, but it is not working, in method IF_BSP_WD_CUSTOM_F4_CALLBACK~RETRIEVE_CUSTOM_VALUES that I implemented the IR_CUSTOM_REF is initial.
I debbugged standard class CL_THTMLB_F4HELP method GET_HELP_VALUES and noticed that when it is calling the same class to get the reference the table inside the class that should have the reference is empty:

I am wondering how that could be possible that a static class has different information when called inside the context node class and when called in CL_THTMLB_F4HELP, the only explanation I have is that the BSP application that is responsible to display the F4 view is statelless.
Does anyone was able to pass a reference to method IF_BSP_WD_CUSTOM_F4_CALLBACK~RETRIEVE_CUSTOM_VALUES?

Custom Search using new View Object (Programatically)

Hi Experts,
Currently i am exploring the ADF-BC and i have a basic question. Hope you experts will help on this. I am thinking of implementing the search functionality with out using the "Query component" because the search that i am going to implement is complex and very custom. So for that i have decided to create one View object with the controls that needs to be displayed in the search screen. E.g assume the DepartmentVO is available and i want to create the search screen So i have create a another view object called DepartmentSearchVO (Program view object) and create transient variables for each search filed that i was thinking to have.
Now i want to implement the Search button. When the users clicks on the search then i can called the DepartmentVORowImpl method called search() and construct the query based on the input. Then how about the results return. Since the DeparmentVO is coarse grain i am thinking to have another light View object called DeparmentLightVO (Program object) and use that to bind with the table for display.
Please let me know am i going in the right direction. Is there any better way for this kind of requirement implementation.

As Shay mentioned, you could set the where clause of the VO which you want to filter.
In your search() method, you could get the VO (DeparmentVO in your case), set the where clause based on the parameters you are passing to this method (or the columns in the DepartmentSearchVO) and execute the query.
You could use the VO (on which you've performed executeQuery) as a table / ROT in your application.

Portal Custom Search Results Question

Hey,
We are using a custom search portlet to search through a page group containing content relevant to a group of end users. The results generated from the search a fine apart from that they also return items from the page group such as navigation pages or templates. So, when the user searches for a given simple keyword they get some pages and some navigation pages which would obviously be a little confusing.
How can we restrict the results in to being just pages ?

I don't have details of your content and it's attribution and structure, but it's possible with the custom search portlet to add search criteria to your search portlets that are hidden from the user. You can use this to place additional restrictions on the queries that filter out the extraneuous results, unbeknownst to the end user.

Custom Search Form and custom attribute picklist?

I have a custom item type which has a custom attribute NAICS_Code. The NAICS codes are stored in a database table and the attribute is set to a list of values that is a query on that table. The attribute is associated with a custom item type as a text attribute.
Now, when I add the custom item type to a page, the NAICS Code field is a popup selector, as expected.
On a Portal page, I have the Custom Search Portlet that searches another page that contains the custom item type.
On the Custom Search Portlet, I can add the NAICS Code as an additional attribute, but the search field is a plain text box and NOT a pick list of any kind.
Can I configure the Custom Search Portlet to use associated LOVs with filter by attributes?

I'm afraid that in the version of portal you are using we don't render LOVs for LOV attributes on the search portlet.
In 10.1.2 attributes are added to the search form using a More Attributes button which simply render an empty row for the attribute details to be filled in.
In 10.1.4 this was improved considerably. Now attributes are added to the search form like they are added in the edit defaults, with a Choose Attributes link which opens a popup to select the attributes. On closing the popup the search form is re-rendered and any LOV attributes will be rendered with a combo box of available values to select from.

Issue with custom search fields in agent inbox

Hi All,
I am working on CRM agent inbox 7.0. The issue I am facing is like this:
I have added custom search fields in inbox. When give a combination of standard search field and custom search field, the result is only based on standard field. The value of custom field is not considered.
Is this a standard behaviour? Are standard fields given higher priority that custom fields?
Any pointers on this would be highly helpful.

Did you add custom field using AET? If yes then while adding custom field using AET did you make it search and result relevant?
There is nothing like priority in standard SAP fields and custom fields.

Deleted items showup in custom search

We are using custom search portlet for search functionality on our site. The problem is, items that were deleted from a page in the past are also showing up in search results. And when we click on the item in search result, it throws page not found error.
I checked the database and these items are there in wwv_things table. Any way to automatically remove deleted items from index tables?

Custom Search help in Record Working Time

Hi,
We have a requirement to add a custom field on RECORD Working Time ( ESS). This field has been added and custom search help is assigned to the data element of the field. The values in the F4 help should vary based on employees department.
The related code for this requirement is written in the serach help exit. The F4 help is working as expected from backend ( ECC) but not in Portal (ESS).
I have added the custom field in TCATS_SHLP_ITS. After maintaining this table all the values in F4 help are displaying , whereas it should only display the values under employees department in Record Working time.
I understand the class cl_xss_cat_value_help_general is responsible for the search help in ESS is there any user exit or enhancement available for this class in order to control the serach values on ESS.

Custom search using boolean attribute set to True gives no result

I am setting up an auto-query using the custom search portlet. This is to show all items where a boolean custom attribute is checked, ie = True.
In step 3 I have tried to set the operator to Equals to and the default value to True. This gives no results even though several items have this attribute set to True.
The Auto Query check box is checked.

Found that True = 1 in database. When set to this the search works.

How can I remove google custom search bar from about:newtab page

When I open Firefox or a new tab I have it set to about:newtab which is great and all. Just recently I noticed a Google search bar on the new tab page though, that it immediately sets my cursor to. I prefer typing in the normal address bar at top. If I don't think to take that extra tedious step to click on the address bar before typing it opens to Google Custom Search Engine. Which does not have the images, maps, etc tabs along top. Making a simple task of researching something or other purpose just that much more annoying to do, because I'll have to type into the address bar anyways.
So I was hoping there is a way to remove this annoying Google Custom Search Bar from my about:newtab?
Or at the least make my cursor start in the address bar, not the Google Custom Search Bar.

How to create a custom search portlet that groups results by category

Hello,
Is it possible to create a custom search portlet whose search results are displayed on a page grouped by Category? Basically the results page should have Category heading followed by search results.
I realize this is not canned functionality but any ideas on how to accomplish this using PLSQL APIs is also welcome.

one workaround i could think of is using the CM views to search for content that belongs to a category and display it in a custom way.

this only allows you to search for the meta-data available in the CM views but not the content of an item that is available when doing a search.
in the next major portal release we will have a publich search API that can be used for these type of requirements. you can execute your search and format the results in the way you want.

Custom search help with F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST to retrieve 2 columns

i have a problem to retrieve selected value from a custom search help. I need to retrieve 2 columns from the selected line. eg. there are A,B,C,D column in the search help. I need to get the B and D. can anyone help? Thanks

For achieving this follow the following 4 steps:
1. While calling F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST pass the importing paramter return_tab to make the data selected by the user IN SELECTION screen. Remember that without this the user entry is avaliable only at START OF SELECTION.
2. Use this value to READ TABLE your internal table to get the value of other column.
3. Load an internal table with values you want to assign to selection screen fields.
4. Assign values to the field in selection field using Fn Module: 'DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE'.
Example:
