Filter content by what's already local on iOS?
I think I already know the answer to this, but has anyone figured out a way to filter the list of music on your device to view what's already been downoaded? I have a massive library uploaded to iTunes Match but it would be awesome if there was a way to sort by what's already local on the device.
Me thinks feature request for next rev?
I was aware of that setting, but thanks for the reply. What I was hoping for was a way to add a tab across the bottom like Album, Artist, Songs etc.
Basically just a faster way of filtering so you can toggle quickly between what music is ready to play and the 'mother ship', so to speak.

I'd like to add some music to my iphone without erasing what's already there, but can't see how. in iTunes Devices (on computer) I select the summary pane, I check "manually manage music and videos". and "sync only selected songs and videos. "Automatic Sync" is not selected. Then in the music pane, "Sync Music" is the only box that can be checked. When I check that, I get another box that says "all existing content on iphone will be removed and replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library. Can anybody shed some light here?

paulIf you have manually manage music and videos checked and have disabled sync automatically, you can now drag and drop videos right onto the iPhone in iTunes. You can also delete songs and videos right from the iPhone in iTunes. Just click on the iPhone in the left pane, hit the music folder and drag and drop all you want and delete all you want.

I want to transfer new content from iTunes to my iPhone without losing what is already on the phone. On the old iTunes I could drag and drop only the items I wanted on the phone. On this new version, all I can figure out to do is sync, which is going to remove the songs that are already on the phone. There has to be another way.
The film would have to be in itunes on your computer.
You would sync it like you do everything else.

No, apart from using the emailing them, to yourself or using a third-party app such as Simple Transfer (in which case the photos will only go into the Saved Photos/Camera Roll album) or the camera connection kit (Imported album). You need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad in one go, as only the contents of the most recent sync remains on the iPad - not including photos in a sync is how you delete them from the iPad

When I click on photos
I can see "shared"
I have a few videos in shared content...unfortunately not locally...not in icloud..how can I download those videos into my ipadThose are the videos I have taken using my iPad
Then later posted from my iPad
they are now visible in "shared"
later I think I cleared the iCloud backup
Now they are not in iPad(local) and they are not in iCloud(remote)
bvut I can see those videos in "shared"
what is shared?
when you clock on "photos" you will see three things at the bottom of the screen
"Photos" "shared" "Albums"
My videos are in "shared" I want to down load them locally into my iPad

Is anyone having trouble playing movies they purchased? I have no issue watching netflix or previews but I can't watch what I already purchased.
A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
Also check your payment details, make sure your details are exactly how they appear on your credit card statement, you might also try changing some of those details, saving them and changing them back again.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.
At this point in time, I’m wondering if this could be related to (but not restricted to) the new feature that allows others to come into your home and use your Apple TV to download and play their content on your Apple TV without logging into their account on your Apple TV. The Terms of Use for iTunes Store content have always been to require you to only purchase and play the content from the store in the location where you live and to use a credit card registered in that location. Previously Apple seem to have been somewhat lenient on enforcing such restrictions, perhaps now they are not. However I don’t really have any evidence to support this suggestion, except that changes made to accounts in these areas do appear to be helping many.
If you are successful in resolving your problem, perhaps you would let us know exactly which action resolved the problem for you. If you are having this problem to begin with, can you also tell us your location. -

<local-address> element is used to specify a local address (IP or DNS name) and port that the TCP/IP ServerSocket (opened by the connection acceptor) will listen on. It's not a filter used to confine the client IP address.
For example, the following will instruct the connection acceptor to bind the TCP/IP ServerSocket to 192.168.0.2:9099:

I started with one itunes account for my iphone and ipad, and now have a second ipad linked to the same itunes. Can I set up a new itunes account for one ipad without losing what has already been downloaded on it? I want to stop my husbands downloads appearing on my ipad, and vice versa.
A much simpler solution would be to go into Settings > Store and turn off Automatic Downloads

my macbook screen goes black at random points when I am using it. I know it is still running as music continues to play and I can vaguely make out the content of what is on the screen. Sometimes the screen will flicker between black and normal. Can I fix this?Emily..
Could be the graphics card, run the Apple Hardware Test
If the hardware test doesn't reveal any problems, use Lion Recovery. -
When I try to upgrade, it tells me all that is on my iPad 1 is going to be erased.
How to I upgrade and keep and backup what I already have.

I don't think it is a big deal but let's see if we can find a driver for it.
Please click on the missing keyboard filter in the device manager. Then click on the details tab. In the Properties drop down list, select the second item (Hardware ID's).
Post the top string of characters you see in the window.
That will give me more information to go on.

Incoming email replaces content with contents from old email already in inb
This morning for no apparent reason, incoming email has its content replaced with the entire content from seemingly random emails received months ago. It also replies the sender email to that attached to the old content.

This is an indexing problem. Are you using any plugins or add on software for Mail? Any anti-virus or internet software, or backup software that is not Apple?
If only noticed in the Inbox, then open the Inbox (for one account only, if more than one account is setup), click on Mailbox in the Menubar, and choose Rebuild. Rebuild repairs the universal index that Mail uses, but be aware that at one point in its operation, all message will disappear from the list of messages before all reappear. It can take several minutes if there are lots of messages.
Is this account POP or IMAP, btw? I ask this because you should not use the method Mulder recommended if using an IMAP account, without additional steps.
