Filter for rolling CMOS rolling shutter flash frames?

I seem to recall stumbling upon a filter that removed offending frames from footage shot with a rolling shutter camera during flash photography. I didn't download it- but now I need it.
Is there a easy fix or plug in that will remove the rolling flash frames from a clip?

  • Filter for rolling week column on # of opportunities

Hi all - I am trying to create a report that shows the # of projects for the last 13 weeks with a column for each week.
I can get the filter correct for the current week, but am not sure how to revise my sql expression for the previous weeks.
I am using the "In between" operator on the created by date column with the following sql expressions:
    TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_DAY, - (DAYOFWEEK(CURRENT_DATE) -1), CURRENT_DATE)
    and
    TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_DAY, 7-DAYOFWEEK(CURRENT_DATE), CURRENT_DATE)
As I said, this works to get the current week's data. Does anyone know how I would revise this to look at the week prior or two weeks prior?
    Thanks for any help!
    Lacey

    Hi !
As I understand, you want a report showing the # of project per week for the current week and the 12 weeks before ? But based on which date ? The project creation date (I assume you have a field like this) ?
In this case, you will have to put a filter saying something like :
Where "Creation Date" beetween "Current Date" and "Current date - 12 weeks".
    *"Date Opened".Date BETWEEN TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_WEEK, -12, CURRENT_DATE) AND CURRENT_DATE*
I assume you'll have to use the TIMESTAMPADD function with SQL_TSI_WEEK interval, the current date and the 12 value.
I tested it on service request creation date to have the # of service request for the last 5 weeks, it worked...
Hope this will help, feel free to ask more !

  • FCP 7 Playback Error: Flash frame of pervious shot

    Hi Community,
I'm a FCP 7 faithful and use it professionally. Yet, when I playback for the client there are flash frames of previous frames right at the edit cut. It glitches on other cuts as well. Does anyone know what could be wrong?
    Please help.

    I'm on an iMac (8 GB 1600 MHz - 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5)

I actually don't have a field dominance set and it's greyed out so I can't change it.
This is what shows in the sequence setting:
And this is an example of the footage setting:

  • When I open my video inspector, the box for image stabilization and shutter roll does not appear.  How do I get it to appear?

When I open my video inspector and I click the Video button, no options for stabilization and rolling shutter appear.  Is there any way that I can get them to appear, so that I might use these tools?

    Tom,
Many thanks for replying so soon.  Actually, I think I've solved my little conundrum.  I was selecting all of my clips in the timeline with the hope of running both functions.  I found that when I only selected one clip at a time, that the two options would appear and that I could select them.
    Again, Tom, thank you.
    Cheers,
    Rob

  • I can't find the option for activating rolling shutter.

Now i searched 2 hours for the option rolling shutter and video analyse.
In older versions the option was on the left top of the clip in the time line.
    Maybe somebody could help me.

Here is a screen shot in the projekt where i couldn't find the options.
And this is a screen shot from a projekt where the options are working.

i have pulled the rolling shutter repair effect (50%) onto a 20 sec clip. Afterwards the
replay of the clip in the window gets very choppy and unsmooth After 3 or 4 sec.
My PC is pretty well equipped with RAM. So what can be the reason ? Thx for help.

  • Possible to turn OFF "Rolling Shutter Ripple" correction in CS5.5 Warp Stabilizer?

Is Rolling Shutter Ripple redcution on by default in CS5.5 Warp Stabilizer?  Can I turn it off?
I am having some strange results trying to stabilize some night-time astro timelapse sequences I shot from a moving car.  There seems to be some warping and "zooming" of parts of my frame, regardless of which stabilization options I choose -- motion, no motion, scale-crop-rotate, subspace, etc.  I've tried every combination possible, including the various border options.  The only thing I can think of, at this point, is that the Rolling Shutter correction function might be struggling to deal with frames shot from a moving car at 4/10ths of a second at night.  Is there any way to turn off the rolling shutter compensation?
    Thanks!

    Thanks Jim.
The source stitched 176 frames for my test are about 1gb. So trying to get to the bottom of it without someone having to dl them (and it will take a while to put them up). The 8 frame version shows the same effect happening, just exaggerated. But its a fair call to assume maybe it would not happen with enough information to work with.
The original http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7070604/full_ae_1080.mov I had tried at the time using detailed analysis as well to see if it fixed the issue, and the results were very similar.
I'd also found that using subspace warp instead of PSR (position, scale rotation), or even just P (position) seemed to generate some additional warping there in the output, and certainly for my footage did not result in making it better.
However, I have re-run the full footage starting from frames not a movie using detail analysis and subspace warp since you running that over the originally processed 1080 footage seemed to do a pretty good job.
The results are here : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7070604/full_ae_1080_warp.mov?dl=1
You can see the warp is really messing it up, and the zooming is not fixed. Left hand side easiest place to see it.
Note I've found putting ?dl=1 on any of the links actually downloads them for anyone having issues with it simply playing in their browser. The way I am visiually checking any of these for issues (as many are at 1fps) is to load them into quicktime, change it to View, loop. Then In quicktime 7 holding FFWD. In quicktime 10 hitting forward until it runs at 8x. Looping at 8x is where you can really see the issue.
The files I had not broken out seperately that are in the source files upload were the results in after effects just using the 8 frames. Here they are seperately.
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7070604/1080_rez_p.mov?dl=1
    Position only.
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7070604/1080_rez_psr.mov?dl=1
    Position scale rotate.
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7070604/1080_rez.mov?dl=1
    Unstablized.
I presume even with subspace warp you get the same results or worse using these 8 frame files.
If you ignore the extra warping/twisting in the new file, you have the same results as the original http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7070604/full_ae_1080.mov?dl=1
played at 8x. The easiest place to see it is the mid left side where you can see it zooming in and out. The fact that it really only starts happening a 3rd the way through makes me think its simply not dealing with the changes in zoom, or the later pan changes in the source file. It wierd the photoshop processed version comes out fine though.
I was really hoping it was a case of, "ah, I see why it can't deal with those 8 frames, it really needs a manual tracker/stablizer doing x,y,z" But of course I'd be even happier with a tweak to the automated warp stabilizer.
If I do a 2nd run on the sample file http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7070604/full_ae_1080.mov I notice selecting P, or PSR does not fix it. Selecting Perspective or Subspace (which probably includes perspective) seems to go a long way and have a similar result.
Leads me back to thinking selecting subspace on the original footage just warps it, selecting P or PSR fixes all but the zooming thing, and then reprocessing with perspective is tackling the persective in isolation which it could not effectively do before. I don't know if that is because you cannot select P&R without S scale. Or because AE's perspective adjustment cannot work effectively with images that have scale variences in them or ?
I've now run the ouput from a frames start via P and PSR. Brought them back in and prosessed with subspace and P and PSR. Results seems to be no better. There is some special sauce here somewhere with the reprocessing. Maybe its the codec I am going out to in the middle, maybe its the aspect ratio, maybe its ???
Might be time to u/l the full source files I guess.
    Thanks for sticking with me.

  • Rolling Shutter And Stablization In FCPX/iMovie/Plug-Ins - Anybody A/B Them?

With all the things about FCPX I have not come across anything about the rolling shutter/stabilzation results yet.  May have missed them.
I tried the functions in iMovie in the past.  If the new FCPX does a good job with it  I would actually consider FCPX to play with and use for some things.  But if it is the same as iMovie, not sure then.

    Thanks.
Yeah I use FCP7 but tried the recent iMovie a couple of times just to see how the image stablization and rolling shutter filters worked.  Always looking for decent plug-ins for those issues when they arise and figured in FCPX handled rolling shutter well I could spring for a copy and think of it as just another plug-in I would use from time to time to play with.  I am curious about FCPX and think it can be something that is "fun" but not sure if I would spend $300 right now on it.  Got Motion 5 for giggles since it was not too pricey.  It is okay, but even there right now I am not sure it was worth the money.  Guess it will be, but things like not having two documents open is something I find a bit of a pain (well more than a bit )

  • Changing Sort Order in Smart Album when Looking for Roll Name=Corruption

We've confirmed via testing and from new posters that changing the sort order in a Smart Album who's criteria is to look for a roll name will cause iPhoto to crash and then crash upon launch after that.
So to avoid corrupting your library do not change the sort order of a Smart Album designed to locate rolls.
    The thread discussing this is:
IPhoto keeps on crashing, cannot use it
Rebuilding the library with iPhoto Library Manager recovered the library. However, I don't know if a rebuild via the Control+Option key will do the same.
    G5 Dual Core 2GHz, 2G RAM, 22 Display, 250G HD, 200G FW HD, QT 7.0.4P   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Canon S400, i850 & LIDE 50, Epson R200, 2G Nano

Ha! I upgraded to iPhoto 6.0.3 and opened the dummy library I had created. (This was the library where the crash on launch kept happening because I had a smart folder looking for rolls and sorted by title or something else other than the default.)
Guess what, it opened just fine! 6.0.3 fixes the crash. Not sure how much it helps people who started new libraries, but at least others won't run into this.

  • How apply rolling shutter plugin AND stabilisation in CS5.5 ?

When i apply the rolling shutter plugin (The Foundry) AND the After Effetcs's stabilisation , the fisrt effect is cancel by the second one , i've tried to pre-compose my first layer with the rolling shutter effect but AE move it into the new composition .
    Why ?
How could i apply thoose two effects ?

Both plug-ins analyze the footage externally. Therefore, you'll have to either apply one plug-in and then either render the shot and apply the other or pre-compose moving all attributes to the new comp and apply the second. Depending on the shot, you may want to apply rolling shutter first, pre-comp and stabilize, or if the shot has more movement than rolling shutter problems, stabilize first then apply rolling shutter.
The Warp Stabilizer has rolling shutter compensation that is pretty good. Are you using it?
Hope this helps. It's not a bug, it's a workflow.

  • Can Rolling Shutter Waves be Fixed in Post

We have 1080/24 GoPro Hero 2 footage from a helicopter flyover that exhibits rolling shutter waves. We intend to combine it with 1080/30 GoPro Hero 2 ground footage in FCP7.
Is there a way that we can correct the rolling shutter waves in post and successfully convert the 1080/24 to 1080/30?

  • Filter for movie trailer voice over?

Does anyone know of a filter I can use in CS6 or purchase that will enable me to alter my voice to sound more like one of those scholarly sounding voice overs used for movie trailers?
    Thanks.

Maybe you don't need a " filter" for after the fact.. you may be able to make your voice sound like that as you record it....
For example, if you wanna sound like a smart person from New England states.. you can put a clothes pin on your nose as you speak.
Use words like, " one has to know one's history to know one's potential, doesn't one ? "
Alternately, if you wanna sound like someone from the SouthWest.. like Texas for example, you can talk through a sock....just roll up a common cotton sock and speak through it into mic....and use words like, " Heck, it aint rocket science to know about the history of this place ! "
add some background stuff like cattle braying and you're in like Flint !

  • Flash frame when printing to tape?

Ok, this has never happened to me before, I have an hour long show. The whole project is edited and rendered out in one quicktime movie.
I'm using the final QT movie to edit to tape. At the end of a dissolve I am getting a Flash frame, the funny thing is its only happening on the tape. I have gone through the sequence frame-by-frame and there is no indication of an added frame or
bad edit anywhere. Does anyone know why I would get a Flash frame only when I print to Tape?

are you monitoring on a NTSC monitor or your computer. I've seen this when the flashframe is on a field the computer monitor isn't showing, but the ntsc mon will show it. The other thing is when your deck is brought out of record by hitting stop without rolling enough black prior to stopping this can happen but it sounds like you are seeing this in the sequence somewhere not at the end
