Filter Liquify

Hello, Filter - Liquify turns blue when open in Photoshop CC. How do I resolve this? What is happening?

Pressing Option (Mac) or Alt (Windows) when triggering the Filter should disable Graphics Processor Acceleration (a dialog should inform you thusly) and be another option to verify whether the issue is with the GPU driver.
Otherwise could you please post a screenshot to illustrate the issue?

  • Photosho cs4 - problem with filter liquify and gallery

    Hello averydoby, when i try to open the filters liquify and the gallery filters happens that before you open takes 10 minutes to load and when you open the program takes any action carried out for 2-3 minutes. The problem essentially is that charge too.
    I own a compute macbook pro with 512 mb video card and 2 gb of ram, I have also tried to use the filters with images of a few kb but the same thing happens.
    Someone knows what could be the problem?
    Thanks to all

    I asked because I had the same problem with PS CS2 and mac OS 10.2.8 on a 2 x 1Ghz mac.
    (adbobe level 3 Support was able to reproduce the error but there was no solution)
    I don't have the this Problem neither with PS CS4 nor PS CS2 on a mac pro (early 2008) running mac os 10.5.6 anymore.
    I was just curious if I 'd have an idea to solve this problem.

  • Liquify as a smart object filter CS6

    I understand that I should be able to use Liquify as a smart object filter in CS6 however when I get a layer rendered as a smart object and attempt to use the smart filter Liquify is greyed out.
    my only opiton thus far has been to stamp it down and work on the stamped down layer.  Am I missing something .  I'm using Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0.6 (13.0.6 20131025.r.54 2013/10/25:21:00:00) x64

    I think that is in the photoshop cs6 creative cloud verion 13.1 that the Smart object liquify was added.
    (not in the perpetual license versions of photoshop cs6)
    Also, it's in photoshop cc (photoshop version 14) as well

  • Liquify filter crashes photoshop, everything is frozen.

    The liquify filter freezes my computer when i open it. Everything is runing perfectly on my computer until I click on the filter>liquify (cmd shift x), then no windows (the usual liquify window) pop up and everything is frozen. I won't even be able to quit photoshop, the rest is running perfectly good except this particular liquify filter thing. I tried restarting my computer AND photoshop, uninstalling and re installing it, restoring a past backup, restoring the plug-ins file, etc. NOTHING works and i am kinda desperate since it is my primary work tool. Anyone knows why my liquify filter just gave up?
    Additionnal info:
    photoshop cs5.1 (extended)
    mac osX with 8gb RAM
    Ati Radeon graphic card

    Not sure if Liquify utilized the GPU in CS5 but does turning off OpenGL in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
    Please read this and start by restoring the Preferences:

  • Liquify Tools won't work in Photoshop Cs6

    I am trying use the liquify effect on my images shot using a Canon 50D and none of the tools seem to work. I have successfully used the liquify effect on stock images obtain/purchased from the internet, so I am confused as to what could be the problem. I am able to select the tools, but to no avail.  I tried to start the liquify feature using the CMD+Filter+Liquify action, but it did not fixt the problem.
    Using CS6
    Mac Mini
    2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB
    4GB RAM

    The Adobe published minimum requirements for Photoshop CS6 (or any other version, really) are laughably optimistic.  Sure, Photoshop will launch with your measly 4GB of RAM on your laptop, but how well it performs is another story.
    These days 8GB of RAM is considered the bare minimum to run Photoshop CS—which of course should be updated to Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.6.

  • Filters (Liquify) in Photoshop CS

    I'm a teacher and my students have Photoshop CS, older version than mine. For some reason my filters are available. I need for my students to be able to access liquify, and its not there. Help!

    They are using photoshop cs (photoshop 8) circa 2003?
    Still it should be Filter>Liquify
    Maybe they are using photoshop elements, which in that case it would be Filter>Distort>Liquify

  • Liquify tool problems - not applying effect

    Hello guys, just trying to create an effect with the liquify tool but I'm running into major unexpected problems. Basically what I want to do is create a wave effect with a long and narrow rectangle. What I do is: select the layer I want to perform the liquify tool, then go to filter liquify, a window pops up and I get to make an effect I like, I then press ok and nothing happens. The effect I created in liquefy isn't applied to the rectangle. Why is this? I have search Google numerous times trying to find a solution, but not many people have run into this problem. I have done a complete re-install with no success.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    my other post was here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1301080&p=-1#bottom

    Sounds strange, indeed. Barring mundane memory issues, the only thing I can think of, is that not all channels are active (or you work on a custom channel, respectively) when working with the filter and the result therefore doesn't get applied. That shouldn't normally be a problem, either, but some filters have the strangest mind of theior own...

  • Load liquify

    I am trying to find out how to load the liquify interface automatically when a photoshop document opens.
    The goal is to bypass the menu >> filter >> liquify sequence /shortcut to launch the interface.
    I have try creating an action using the insert menu item without success.
    Now I am using the script listener to generate code to use in a script.
    The script listener generates the following code:
    // =======================================================
    var idLqFy = charIDToTypeID( "LqFy" );
    executeAction( idLqFy, undefined, DialogModes.NO );
    When I run the code in a try catch statement
    I get the following error  message:
    Error: user canceled the operation
    Is there a way to edit the parameters in the executeAction to allow the liquify interface to load?
    try{
            //Test for open document
            if(app.documents.length > 0){
                // =======================================================
                var idLqFy = charIDToTypeID( "LqFy" );
                executeAction( idLqFy, undefined, DialogModes.NO );
            else{
                alert ("This script requires an open document to run correctly!");
    catch(e){
            //Something went wrong
            alert ("An unexpected error occurred and the script did not complete!");
            alert(e);

    Nope, not that I know of.

  • New video card - AMD or NVidia

    I've got a choice between nVidia Gt 640 with 4 GB or ram or the AMD 7850 with 2 GB. The nVidia cards are a bit cheaper, but I want to be sure they are good enough. The card that came with my PC won't run the oil paint filter and is causing problems in Photoshop. I need something more powerful. Which is a better buy, or are they similar? I do some video editing and also use filters like oil paint a lot. I want a video card that will speed things up a bit.

    I do not see anything in the Windows Task Managers user interface that show GPU performance or usage. Sysinternals Process explorer does plot usage of machine resources like CPU, GPU, Memory, I/O.  I don't know if Photoshop ever stresses a Display adapters GPU. Sure it uses it but I think a GPU can just do so much and how effective it is depend on what you doing.  For example if I use a mixer brush and one of the fancy new Fan thick wet brushes and rapidly start stroking. Photoshop performance lags way behind my brush strokes.  When I use a filter liquify and rapidly stroke Photoshop performance is instantaneous. Looking at the Process explorer. The GPU usage looks the same in both features.  I think Programs like Premier Pro would use GPU more heavier then Photoshop.  In Photoshop video rendering does not even seem to use the GPU.
    Heavy GPU use looks more like this:

  • CS6 crashed when used RAMdisk on Windows 8

    I have Photoshop CS6, I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 (both x64). I use the RAM disk as a scratch disk (16 GB RAM total, 4GB RAMdisk). When I use filter liquify, Photoshop crashed. I tried two RAMdisks and both have the same behaviour. In Windows 7 it worked good. I have final version of Windows 8 from MSDN, no beta.

    It's generally a bad idea - don't use a RAM disk for scratch.  Photoshop will work better overall if you give it all the RAM possible (roughtly 14 GB in your case) and use a hard drive for scratch.
    Keep in mind Photoshop's use of scratch space quite often runs into the tens or even hundreds of gigabytes!
    Regarding how well Photoshop works on Windows 8 - well, I'd say you're more likely to be having problems with the display drivers than the RAM disk, or maybe there's some kind of coupling.  Keep in mind that Adobe has not yet said they officially support operation on Windows 8.  It may be that they're holding off release of the 13.0.1 update until they've had some time to test and tweak Photoshop on Windows 8.

    Looks similar to a smoke effect.  But you can use a paint brush and paint your colored lines then use the Liquify tool on multiple layers (Filter / Liquify).

  • Pls help with photoshop int. art

    Hi
    I am doing some wall prints for a friend.
    Using Photoshop cs3
    I need to make some pieces of art that will be 13 ft across and 4 ft up.
    How do I get strted?
    I know the images have to be 300 dpi to be printed and will be printed with a prof. printing press and I am using stock images.
    Do i start by editing the artboard or canvas
    to the size of the print job?
    Also, I am trying to recreate a night background used in the movie 300 in the particular scene with the oracle grl..
    Any help is much appreciated
    Thanks

    I’d estimate You could even drop the resolution to 150dpi, so that in the final output You still get (a bit above) 72dpi.
    Of course if Your printer decidedly requests differently his opinion is more important than mine, but when editing- and saving-times get unbearable one has to make cut-backs one way or the other anyway.
    My policy on stock images usually is to take them as big as they come, especially if there’s any chance that one might choose to use only a small picture detail.
    Combining the images would be a good opportunity to make use of Smart Objects for non-destructive resizing and filtering, but that also increases file-size and could slow You down.
    Regarding the movie-image:
    I’d recommend either using a stock-image of clouds or snap some shots Yourself and combine those, because the basic filters probably won’t get You that good a result, edit the contrast and brightness with a Curves-Adjustment Layer and colorize that (with a Solid Fill-layer set to Blend Mode Color for example of a Hue/Saturation-Adjustment Layer set to Colorize).
    For the curling smoke a stock foto might also be better than faking it in Photoshop (though with Filter – Liquify applied on some soft strokes or gradients one might get OK results).
    For combining such elements it may be convenient to completely desaturate them and make the backgrounds (the blue of the sky or the background behind the smoke) totally black, because that allows to more easily stack them on a new background with their Blend Modes set to Screen if they don’t overlap a lot (see attached file).

  • Blending two faces together?

    I selected someone's face and cut it to a new layer and moved it over someone elses face and I want to try and blend the two together to make them blend better. I added a mask to the cut layer and painted it a bit, though what else can I do? Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Maybe you should look into Morphing.
    http://www.norrkross.com/software/morphx/morphx.php
    (I have not tested this program, though, more are probably available on the net.)
    Filter > Liquify (with the proper Backdrop) might be an option in Photoshop to get a better fit.
    Other than that, if a simple Warp is insufficient to properly align the various elements, one could split the image up into sensible segments to be able to achieve better alignment.
